2-13-2021 Passed Ball Show. John spends the first part of this show talking about the severity of racist and sexist statements and the seriousness of sexual harassment and domestic violence. Should racism, sexism, and sexual harassment, when proven, be the equivalent to a felony conviction? If not, why are sports public figures banned from employment? They should have the right to work. If John was hiring, he would want to know the person was remorseful and had learned from the terrible thing they said/ did. Once again, the court of public opinion is stronger than the court of law and John believes that should change. Chris Doyle and Jared Porter should be able to get a job again assuming they are contrite about what they did. John then talks about the upcoming Daytona 500 and whether Denny Hamlin can become the first driver to win the race three years in a row. John talks about the possibility of Bubba Wallace becoming the first black driver to win the race. John also brings up a couple long shots and why if you buy lottery tickets, you should consider placing a bet on these drivers. Finally, John talks about how LaMelo Ball was cost the number one overall selection in this past year’s NBA draft by his father. At this point, Ball has been the best player from that draft class and it is not even close. John talks about why Yasiel Puig would be a good fit for the New York Mets and Jedd Gyorko would be for the New York Yankees. And why Roberto Osuna should also have a right to work.
MLB.com’s Matt Meyers and Mike Petriello talk about the somewhat difficult to comprehend three-way trade that sends Andrew Benintendi to Kansas City and Statcast hero Franchy Cordero to Boston; dig into the signings of Trevor Bauer (Dodgers) and Marcell Ozuna (Braves); explain what really goes into the unpopular 2021 projections of the Braves to not win the East; talk about the overall competitiveness of the six divisions; implore someone to sign Justin Turner and Jedd Gyorko already; and welcome in special guest Rajai Davis to talk about the highlights of his career and his new role working in operations for Major League Baseball.
Episode 186 features Devin Williams, ESPN Analyst Kyle Peterson and Jedd Gyorko.

Jedd Gyorko is an American professional baseball third baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball.
If you've been watching the St. Louis Cardinals Kolten Wong over the past few years, you'll notice it seems like he just plays the game with more heart than anyone else on the field. Whether it's because of his Hawaiian pride or his strong baseball family, the second baseman's steady improvement and always escalating stats are hard to ignore. The Gold Glove winning second baseman talks to Jensen about returning with that focus in 2020, no matter when the season starts, even if he can't beat Milwaukee Brewers infielder Jedd Gyorko in Cornhole. They also chat about Hawaiian tourism, staying optimistic when things feel their lowest and a possible business with David Wright. This episode and series supports FeedingAmerica.org. Looking forward to the pitching in today’s game against the WS champion Nationals. Austin Gomber gets the start. He missed most last year with an elusive injury. Derrick says, this year, Gomber has much better defense around him so that could be a boon. Knizner said Gomber’s new cutter could be a real difference maker. It will be great to see Alex Reyes today too. He looks slimmer, more athletic. Brett Cecil is on the list as well. He will pitch a lot this spring to figure out what the club has in him. Sosa continues to be a guy to watch. Derrick Goold says it’s likely he makes it on the opening day roster. Derrick also says Brad Miller is a left handed Jedd Gyorko with pop. Listen here:

Joined by our Dodgers Nation writer, and Friend of the Show AJ Gonzalez, we break down the MLB trade deadline that just passed, and whether or not to classify it as a letdown. Also on today's show: - Dodgers Prospect SZN - Rojo Thor love with Dustin May - Joc Pederson and the "Defense" The trade deadline came and went and the Dodgers did nothing close to what rumors had in mind for the team. The team added Jedd Gyorko and Adam Kolarek while shipping out Brock Stewart and Rocky Gale. If you had that prop bet in Vegas, you are the world's boldest prophet. While the Dodgers didn't exactly win the deadline, some contenders around the league got better. Namely, the Astros, the Cubs, and the Braves. So for the Dodgers, no Vazquez or Diaz or Elias or Greene; none of the guys we talked about for a month, thus leading us to wonder... is the time now for the prospects to step up to the forefront? Will Smith is already getting it done. Tony Gonsolin showed what could he can do. Dustin May -- Rojo Thor himself -- is making his MLB debut on Friday, and Gavin Lux is pounding on the door. Plus we come up with a plethora of quality nicknames for the newest Dodgers. Finally, Clint takes one last opportunity to stomp on Joc Pederson's attempted play at first base after Dave Roberts announced that he would no longer play there. Learn more about your ad choices. Not that two sportswriters would know anything about missing a deadline, so St. Louis Post-dispatch sports columnist Ben Frederickson and baseball writer Derrick Goold do their best to make sense of the Cardinals' inactivity for a fourth consecutive trade deadline. When the clock struck 3 p.m. St. Louis time and all of the trades had to be finalized -- including a whopper that sent Zack Greinke to Houston -- the Cardinals found themselves without the starter they chased. They had a hold on first place, but did little to strength it but add to their lefty depth with a waiver claim and ship Jedd Gyorko to the Los Angeles Dodgers. At the ballpark, later that evening, a brand new Best Podcast in Baseball -- an extended version, if you will -- aims to understand how the Cardinals got into this predicament where potential carries so much more weight than production, where algorithms have them frozen and their minor-league system is no longer deep enough to make deals. Is this the day that determines whether they are a playoff team -- or barred from October for the fourth consecutive season? This seems to be a pivot point in the season, and BPIB is there to map the direction the Cardinals go from here. The Best Podcast in Baseball, brought you by Closets by Design! of St. Louis, is a production of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, stltoday.com, and Derrick Goold.
While it seems like only yesterday Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) got together to talk about the Cardinals, it's actually been a work week and the Cardinals' bats haven't been working. With less than two weeks to go in the spring, is it OK to start being concerned? The guys go over the pros and cons of that as well as the issues with the fifth starter spot. Should John Gant or Dakota Hudson get that slot? After a detour about the new rules coming down the pike, they wrap it up talking about Jedd Gyorko and what his injury and return from it means for the team. Everything's back to normal and we hope you enjoy!
On this episode, we talk about the biggest recent news including Aaron Judge's recovery, trades of Ryan Madson and Lucas Duda, injuries to Andrew Miller and Jedd Gyorko, and the breaking news of Albert Pujols' surgery, plus much more. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/in-the-moment-podcast/support

Jason Collette from ESPN, Rotowire, and FanGraphs joins us to chat about which players fantasy owners should be on the prowl for when searching through waivers. Jedd Gyorko's (10:32) performance so far seems legitimate, Franchy Cordero's (26:08) power and speed can't be ignored, Nick Pivetta (41:39) is showing stud-potential, and we're mentioning a trio of Cardinals hurlers who have had early success (46:11). We also went over numerous injury updates, like how the Cardinals may plan on responding to A.J. Pollock's (1:10) thumb injury, as well as an exciting hypothetical trade involving Trevor Story and Manny Machado (13:44). The Cardinals and Cubs have each seen their fair share of NL Central teams already this month, but there's nothing quite like the Cubs/Cardinals rivalry... I don't care what American League fans say! Corey Fineran is one of the hosts of the Ivy Envy podcast (@IvyEnvy). While I can't imagine many of you Cardinals fans would choose to listen to a Cubs podcast, I did it for you, and I can tell you, it's a good one! Both Anthony Rizzo and Jedd Gyorko could return to action early this week. José Martínez could make his lasting mark on the rivalry. And Jon Lester will have another go at Matt Carpenter... who could use a confidence boost or two in the series.
Every week two of the Best Fans in Baseball (TM) bring you all the news and analysis you need about the St. Louis Cardinals. After a sweep in Cincinnati, the Cardinals are sitting in second place and above .500. But how much of this is due to a turnaround and how much is it due to the fact that the Reds appear to be horrific? Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Tara (Bird Seeds, @tarawellman) tackle that issue as well as other topics of the week. The Cardinals' closer isn't actually the closer. When will Greg Holland take over that role and will Bud Norris's performance make that transition tougher? Adam Wainwright threw a solid start this week. Is that an aberration or a sign of things to come? Jedd Gyorko and Luke Gregerson are about ready to make their returns (well, debut for Gregerson). Who loses out when these guys come back? Plenty of Cardinal talk for you this week so enjoy!
