KILCOYNE CONVERSATION 7 15 TREVOR ROSENTHAL TONY ADAMS by
Batters did not want to see him on the mound. Fans loved his heat! One of the very first to throw 100 mph, he had tremendous success in the majors, when healthy. He is one of only SEVEN pitchers in Major League Baseball HISTORY to ever have back-to-back 45 save seasons (not even the great Mariano Rivera did that). His golf game may not be All Star caliber, but he sure tells great stories of baseball, golf and coming back from injuries. TREVOR ROSENTHAL takes the mound on this week's terrific episode of The Approach Shot.
In this episode of "Tuesdays with Trevor," host Trevor Rosenthal and co-host Jason Holzer explore the crucial role of team chemistry and positive mental health practices in youth sports. They are joined by Dr. Alex Auerbach, a licensed counseling and sports psychologist, who shares practical tips for coaches and parents to foster team chemistry and resilience among young athletes. The discussion underscores the importance of clear communication, shared values, and creating a supportive team environment. Dr. Auerbach also highlights how language and mindset influence the mental health of young athletes. Key Takeaways: Fostering Team Chemistry: Build task cohesion (understanding roles and responsibilities) and social cohesion (teammates liking and respecting each other). Parental Influence: Parents can enhance their child's sports experience by supporting the coach, using positive language, and encouraging a love for the game. Coaching Strategies: Coaches can promote positive mental health by being mindful of their language, teaching mental skills like goal-setting and self-talk, and fostering a supportive team environment. Healthy Team Culture: Create a healthy team culture through clear communication, aligned values, and consistent reinforcement of positive behaviors. Balanced Approach: Balancing mental health and performance in youth sports is achievable with intentional coaching and support. Sound Bites: "Creating a sense of connection and belonging within the team." "Parents, let the coach do the coaching and support from the sidelines." "Mindset and language are key to developing resilient young athletes." Chapters: 00:00 Building Team Chemistry 10:27 Promoting Positive Mental Health Follow Us: Be sure to check out future episodes! Welcome to another enriching episode of Tuesdays with Trevor!
It's our first (of hopefully many!) MLB Player interviews! We welcome Trevor Rosenthal to the show to get to know the man behind the Cardinals' single season save record (48!). We talk life before baseball, sharing special baseball moments with his daughters, his thoughts on Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina's lives after baseball. Most importantly, we find out how he eats a glizzy
Trevor Rosenthal has played eight seasons in the major leagues, making a name as one of the better relief pitchers thanks to his fastball, which at times has reached 100 miles per hour. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2009 and made his MLB debut in 2012. He quickly cemented himself as the team's closer, racking up 45 saves in 2014 then a franchise-record 48 saves in 2015. Injuries crept in toward the end of his time in St. Louis, and it's been something he's battled since. After missing the 2018, he spent time between the Washington Nationals and Detroit Tigers in 2019, then spent the pandemic-shortened 2020 season between the Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres. Since then, he's been a part of the Oakland A's, Milwaukee Brewers and again the Tigers organizations, but injuries have prevented him from seeing the field in major league action. Now a free agent, he's hoping to return to the field healthy and pitch like h's been capable of in the past. He joins Scott Linebrink on "Get in the Game" this week to talk about the highs and lows of his career and how his faith in God has grown through it. "Get in the Game" is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network. If you enjoyed this conversation, we know you'll enjoy these as well: — Adam Wainwright – Legendary Cardinals Pitcher— Matt Holliday – Former St. Louis Cardinals Player— Kyle McClellan – Former MLB Pitcher

Full YouTube Video: Unlocking Success with MLB All-Star Trevor Rosenthal Speaker Brett Gilliland: Welcome to the Circuit of Success. I'm your host, Brett Gilliland. Today, got a cardinal player with me, man. I'm fired up. Trevor Rosenthal, what's going on, my man? Speaker Trevor Rosenthal: That's right. Baseball has in full swing. What's up, Brad? Thanks for inviting me to come on the show. Speaker Brett Gilliland: Absolutely. Like the old hat lunch there. You got that on your shirt. You got a buddy there. I got a a new, relationship from back in the day. So I get some hats. You get some hats stuff getting made. They're good stuff. We're not being paid to say that, we'll give him a little plug here. Speaker Trevor Rosenthal: Definitely. It's a good plug. St. Louis voice through and through. Got a support local Speaker Brett Gilliland: That's right, man. That's right. So, well, you are Trevor Rosenthal. You are a, two thousand and fifteen major league baseball All star. Single saves leader for the cardinals, and what was that? Two thousand fifteen as well for forty eight. Beat my boy Is he there. Didn't you? You had to beat Is he? What didn't isn't that who you beat? Was Jason? Speaker Trevor Rosenthal: Yeah. Scratch him out by just a couple and Lee Smith as well. Speaker Brett Gilliland: Nice. Nice. Two big names for the cardinals. And then, see, yeah, so single saves leader that year. And then two two thousand fifteen, you were the third youngest pitcher with forty plus saves and back to back season man. That was, it was awesome. So fun to watch you. But before we dive into it, being from Lee's Summit, Missouri, I gotta ask you, were you a Cardinal fan or a Royal fan? Speaker Trevor Rosenthal: I'd say a little bit of both. There was some great players on both teams, certainly, pool halls or Saint Louis and pretty cool story, actually getting able being able to watch, Carlos Beltran, and also is that growing up in the St. Louis area. Beltran was a teammate, and that two thousand fifteen year, Grinky was an all star game teammate of mine. So pretty surreal experience to have. Now at thirty three years old, I have the young bucks coming up to meet telling me these same stories, and I realized, man, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that to Carlos Beltran. I think I probably didn't Speaker Brett Gilliland: make it Speaker Trevor Rosenthal: feel too young. Speaker Brett Gilliland: Yeah. Yeah. I used to grow up watching you play. So, if you can't tell us what's major the man you are today, man. You don't just, you know, grow up and then become a major league baseball player. There's a lot there and love to dive into that and start the conversation there. Speaker Trevor Rosenthal: Oh, yeah. That's a big question. Definitely has you know, could dive in deep, but I think, you know, it's fortunate to have great parents, first and foremost, born in Carney, Nebraska, my parents own my dad owned, a restaurant with a business partner in Carney, and watched him work hard and operate that, as a young, young child from age one to Gilliland then at six years old, My dad was about actually my age now, and he decided to go back to law school. Wow. So moved into the Kansas City, Lisa, Missouri area. Back, became an attorney. And, I think a combination of those two things, one being exposed to the farm life, the constant work.

A grisly loss to the Cubs on Friday may sting, but the Brewers continued to tread water, buoyed by two wins to close the week. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe try to make sense of an uneven week with some bright spots (Beating the Dodgers again, Garrett Mitchell, Christian Yelich, Freddy Peralta) and some lowlights (Adrian Houser, Trevor Rosenthal, everything about that Friday game). CORRECTION: This episode states that Marco Luciano just got promoted to Hi-A - he has been playing in Hi-A, missed a month with a back injury, and just started a rehab assignment at the Complex League. We regret the error. On today's Farm Friday, we take a look at the San Francisco Giants. The Single-A San Jose Giants have SS Aeverson Arteaga, a no-doubt SS if there ever was one, as well as 2021 College World Series hero SP Will Bednar and breakout prospect OF Grant McCray. In Hi-A Eugene, the Emeralds just got top prospect SS Marco Luciano (promoted on Wednesday!) to pair with OF Luis Matos as a formidable 1-2 power punch. The Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels have the pitcher with the best pure stuff in the system, LHP Kyle Harrison, as well as RHP Ryan Murphy and OF Tristan Peters (who just came over from the Milwaukee Brewers in the Trevor Rosenthal deal). Triple-A Sacramento River Cats are rolling OF Heliot Ramos and 6'11 RHP Sean Hjelle out there. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
In the end, the San Francisco Giants were sellers, but they didn't sell their top assets. The Giants traded Darin Ruf to the Mets in a deal that brought back J.D. Davis and three minor leaguers. They traded Curt Casali and Matt Boyd to the Seattle Mariners. And the Giants traded Trevor Rosenthal, just signed less than two weeks ago, to the Milwaukee Brewers. The SF Giants held onto Carlos Rodón and Joc Pederson. The Ruf trade was the most significant move the Giants made. The team was so enamored with Ruf that they gave him a two-year extension prior to the season, with a club option for a third year. But his performance fell off in 2022, especially when thrust into more of an everyday role, and he became expendable. J.D. Davis is a similar player in a lot of ways, another DH type, but he doesn't have big platoon splits and is above-average at the plate against lefties or righties. He can play third, left, and first, none particularly well.Rodón not being dealt probably just means that the offers weren't good enough. He was pretty clearly available, but the Giants needed to be compelled to give up on their season and give up the potential draft pick compensation they'd receive if he rejects the qualifying offer and signs elsewhere. Other top rental options such as Willson Contreras and J.D. Martinez were also surprisingly held onto.Meanwhile, the San Diego Padres acquired Juan Soto. It's a brutal outcome from the perspective of Giants fans, who've seen a serious influx of star power into the NL West in recent years—none of it with the Giants and all of it with the Dodgers and now Padres. San Diego gave up a haul to get Soto (they also acquired Josh Bell in the same deal and Brandon Drury in a separate one), but the NL West just got that much better.Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:
