In this episode, I had a candid conversation with Jessica Reed Kraus, founder of House in Habit. We explored her journey from stay-at-home mom to successful independent journalist covering pop culture, lifestyle, and politics. Jessica shared how her storytelling passion led to her blog, House Inhabit, and her transition to covering high-profile trials and political events. We discussed her unique storytelling approach, experiences on the campaign trail, and interactions with figures like Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Despite facing criticism, Jessica's dedication to honest coverage and seeing humanity in every story resonated with her audience. We also delved into her family, children's involvement in her work, and unwavering commitment to her craft. Jessica's insights into the political landscape, experiences at events like Mar-a-Lago, and observations of figures like Trump and RFK Jr offer a fascinating glimpse into media that is supported by the people- none of this would be possible without her loyal Substack subscribers. Overall, Jessica's passion, perspective on current events, and commitment to truth make her a compelling voice in the media landscape forcing us to expand our perspective and ask us to look beyond what we've been told to think by the mainstream.

Asterisk talks rye Torey and Meg Trial, new beginnings for the new year, Charlemagne the God and Jessica Reed. Shaq is in the news, Roddy Rich, Ke Ke Palmers new announcement and more…
No one covered the Johnny Depp–Amber Heard trial in quite the way that Jessica Reed Kraus did on Instagram and Substack, taking her readers into the courtroom, behind the scenes, and into some of the most salacious details of the actors' personal lives. Near the start of the pandemic, the relatively unknown writer and influencer had pivoted from writing about home renovations and her four children in Orange County to something that she felt could bring people together in more civil conversations: celebrity gossip. Nearly two years on, Jessica has accumulated more than 1 million Instagram followers and more than 100,000 Substack subscribers. Now some of Hollywood's biggest names turn to her to tell their sides of complex stories.. She got there thanks to her bold and gleefully obsessive coverage of trials involving Britney Spears, Ghislaine Maxwell, and—her breakout moment—Depp-Heard. When the Depp-Heard case began in April this year, Jessica recognized its significance and felt compelled to cover it, despite having no prior professional journalism experience. Through daily Instagram Stories and then in-depth Substack posts, Jessica relayed gossip she had gathered through the proceedings, as well as phone calls, texts, DMs, and more, much of it from close-to-celebrity sources who would never talk to the mainstream media. Her scoops—unfiltered, unsanctioned, and unabashed—touched on the tawdry and the truly scandalous, almost daring the powerful subjects to respond. So why has Jessica, who has been unafraid to take sides in the stories she's covering, become one of the most trusted gossip writers among the Hollywood elite? What does her sudden success say about the rise of the influencer-reporter in the new media economy? And can the art of gossip be rediscovered on new platforms? All this, and more, in this week's episode of The Active Voice.https://jessicareedkraus.substack.com/Show notes* Recommended read: The Queen: What She Meant to Me in Vicky Ward Investigates:* House Inhabit by Jessica Reed Kraus* Jessica Reed Kraus on Instagram and Twitter* Depp Vs. Growing up, Friday nights were for slumber parties, pizza delivery and the best TV of the week: the TGIF lineup, starting with the very best show, Full House. Candace Cameron Bure was a big part of host Rachel Belle's childhood, and she's wiggled her way into the nostalgia of a new generation, reprising the role of DJ Tanner on Fuller House and writing her latest children's book, Candace's Playful Puppy. Growing up in a big family, Candace says almost every night was taco night. But her parents served them with a very American twist: ketchup! We have learned a lot about distance learning and digital technology over the last few months. We had made incorrect assumptions about the crossover our digital native students would make when it comes to digital learning. We thought it would be seamless, but it wasn't. Then we looked back on our students struggles with digital learning in the classroom. We knew we had a lot to learn, so we asked our friend Jessica Reed to come on the podcast to talk about how to match the right digital learning platforms to our students needs and our curriculum needs. Jess is familiar with a variety of platforms and has a lot of experience in using digital resources with our students who receive special education services. It can often cause confusion on the role of the content teacher and the inclusion teacher for students and teachers alike. Our friend Jessica Reed has created a really cool document called the COLLABORATIVE PRE-NUP that is aimed to make the co-teaching setting more effective as teachers and more productive for kids. She explains it on this episode of VALUE ADDS VALUE!! And tune in next week to her Jess talk about how to more effectively use digital learning tools for our students that receive SPED services!! While fathers are under new scrutiny as a result of changing gender norms, political ideologies, religious interpretations, and family dynamics, arguably no men are feeling the pinch and stress more than Black fathers who are often caught between the expectations of the dominant group and the mothers of their children. If talking about mental health is difficult, as an extension, discussing parental stress and racism presents dilemmas few people are prepared to address. Join Jessica and Charles as they discuss some of the difficulties Black fathers encounter. This episode of the podcast is with Jessica Harrell. Jessica works as a financial planner and is very involved with countless community outreach efforts within her church and other organizations. She is passionate about making a positive impact with everything she does. We have been fortunate to be involved with some of the events and initiatives that Jessica has created. She is the creator of the first "Fearless and Fabulous" event. This event was for ladies in the Murfreesboro community to come together, get dressed up, listen to some amazing speakers, celebrate each other and encourage all participants to live a "Fearless and Fabulous" lifestyle. We did the "Red Carpet Recap" where we spoke to attendees on their way out. 100% of people who spoke to us said they were leaving feeling very inspired and uplifted. Basically everything we are about. In addition, her family has been doing a food ministry for the past 28 years where they feed an average of about 100 people per month. We were involved with the "Turkey Drive" that she has been involved with for many years at her church. We were able to speak with people in the community that need help and giving them food for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was a really rewarding experience. Jessica is constantly looking for opportunities to serve and make a positive impact. On the podcast we speak about how she maintains a positive mindset and what is "going right" according to Jessica and much more. She is just a really great all around example of what we are looking to showcase on the podcast. We will definitely be involved with future endeavors Jessica is putting together. Huge thank you to Jessica for being on the podcast and all she does to Spread The Positive!
