Miss Blanche in dienst van het provotariaat Met 'Miss Blanche in dienst van het provotariaat' brengt Provo- en Kabouter-voorman Roel van Duijn anno 1967 op satirische wijze zijn ideeën over kapitalisme en consumentisme voor het voetlicht. Deze Miss Blanche komt voort uit de schrijfmachine van Roel van Duijn, medeoprichter en het gezicht van de Provobeweging in de jaren zestig. Ze verbeeldt de strijd voor een eerlijke wereld en tegen het consumentisme. Als in mei 1967 de Provobeweging na twee jaar ten einde komt, belandt Van Duijn (1943) in een depressie. Hij ligt drie maanden in bed, totdat zijn huisarts hem adviseert een tijdje op een boerderij te gaan werken. Hij volgt dat advies op. Tijdens zijn verblijf op het Zeeuwse platteland ontstaan de contouren van de Kabouters, een beweging die evenals Provo een voorbode zal blijken te zijn van tal van maatschappelijke hervormingen in Nederland. De fictieve Miss Blanche als strijdster van het ‘provotariaat' ontstaat in die tussenliggende periode, als Van Duijn zint op nieuwe manieren om zijn gedachten en ideeën uit te dragen. Haar naam en gestalte zijn afgeleid van het toentertijd gelijknamige populaire sigarettenmerk. Van Duijns inspiratie kwam tot leven toen hij en zijn toenmalige vriendin Carla Kuit een oogverblindende vrouw tegen het lijf liepen in de Amsterdamse Bijenkorf. Die ontmoeting plantte het zaadje voor een energieke vrouw die met haar seks-appeal de stichters en instandhouders van het kapitalisme in de luren legt: Miss Blanche, dikwijls waargenomen op haar schimmel Sneeuwwitje. Oorsprong Deze uitgave bevat de drie verhalen die Roel van Duijn over Miss Blanche schreef: 1) DE ontmoeting met Miss Blanche en het eerste interview met haar, 2) De kraak bij diamantair Van Moppes en 3) Het verleiden van een grootkapitalist om hem en zijn vrouw een lesje te leren. Het eerste en het derde deel zijn oorspronkelijk opgenomen in deel 15 van Provo, het laatste deel dat van dit tijdschrift is verschenen in 1967. Het tweede deel is uitgekomen als losse uitgave van uitgeverij Unit. Deze publicaties kunnen worden ingezien bij KB Nationale bibliotheek en/of het Internationaal Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis. In het ebook van ‘Miss Blanche in dienst van het provotariaat' is de spelling aangehouden zoals die is gebruikt in bovengenoemde oorspronkelijke uitgaven – een vorm die in zwang was in de jaren zestig en zeventig. Roel van Duijn heeft sinds de jaren zestig 44 boeken geschreven, non-fictie en romans.

OpaRob de kabouter woont aan de voedseldijk. Op het Eindeloos Eiland, Noord-Beveland. En ik lees voor uit zijn dagboek aantekeningen, waar hij verhalen heeft opgetekend die hij beleeft. Het is bijna september en het seizoen van de walnoten komt er weer aan. Gisteren kwam ik Miezel tegen en die was druk bezig om walnoten te verzamelen. Voor zijn vriendjes de muizen. Maar wat zijn walnoten eigenlijk. Laten we het verhaal eens vertellen van de walnoot. Waar komt die vandaan (uit welk land), hoe lang kennen we de walnoot al (lang geleden?). Hoe groeit een walnoot en hoe ziet hij er uit. Waarom kun je walnoten niet zomaar van de boom eten, maar moet je ze pellen en drogen. En waarom vinden muizen walnoten zo lekker om te eten. En wat kunnen mensen en kabouter allemaal maken van walnoten (likeur, taart, of gewoon op eten).

De wereld: Het Bos aan de Voedseldijk Aan de rand van de Voedseldijk op Eindeloos Eiland — dat is wat mensen Noord-Beveland noemen, maar de kabouters kennen het al eeuwen bij zijn echte naam — ligt een oud, knoestig oud bos. Een Beukenbos. Maar op de voedseldijk staan ook Eiken, vlieren, en braamstriken groeien er door elkaar heen. Wortels steken uit de grond als kruipende vingers, en in elke holte, elke boomstronk en elk muizengat woont wel iemand. Aan de ene kant ruikt het bos naar zout en zeewier — want de dijk is niet ver. Aan de andere kant naar natte aarde en koeienmest, want de polderboerderij van Boer Kees ligt maar een paar hazenpassen verder. In de lucht cirkelen altijd meeuwen, en soms, als het heel stil is, hoor je het water van het Veerse meer kabbelen. De kabouters leven hier al zolang als iemand zich kan herinneren. Ze zijn klein — een enkel paddenstoeltje is al groot genoeg voor een zitplaats — maar hun wereld is groots. Ze hebben eigen padjes door het bos, eigen regels, eigen feesten en eigen ruzies. Elke aflevering is een dagboekpagina van Oparob. Hij vertelt wat hij die dag heeft meegemaakt, gehoord of doorverteld gekregen. Soms was hij er zelf bij. Soms hoorde hij het van iemand anders. Altijd met zijn eigen knipoog erbij.

Manu Van Acker, Xavier en Chaima over werken in 'Circus Camille' en horecaklanten op de dijk. Manu komt uit Oostende en werkte als student vaak tijdens de zomer aan zee. Zo zat hij ooit een hele zomer lang in het pak van Kabouter Plop in Plopsaland en stond hij ook in de horeca op de dijk. En die horecaklanten, die zijn niet altijd even geduldig. En Manu moet zich deze zomer geen zorgen maken over stinkende toiletten en dure frieten want door zijn optredens zal hij de festivalzomer moeten missen

In de Tweede Kamer stonden de kleintjes tegenover de groten bij een motie over het al dan niet verhogen van de kiesdrempel. De kleintjes wonnen. Wat betekent deze uitslag voor de verhoudingen tussen de oppositie en de coalitie? Over die coalitie gesproken. De beoogde kabinetsleden zijn nu allemaal bekend. Welke minister heeft de moeilijkste post?  Met de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen voor de deur, bezoeken Jorn en Marleen een burgemeester.  En Natuurlijk staan Jorn en Marleen even stil bij het einde van tijsperk Schoof

Gisteren werd in museum Tot Zover op begraafplaats De Nieuwe Ooster in Amsterdam, een tentoonstelling geopend met werk van kunstenaar Aat Veldhoen, Hedy's geliefde. En dan met name de schilderijen die hij maakte over de dood. Een vrolijke gebeurtenis met een rand van weemoed.Hadassah windt zich op over Mona Keyzer die het advies van de Raad van State naast zich neerlegt, terwijl Hedy zich verbaasd over Trump die de VN schoffeert. Waarom stond niemand in die zaal op om hem tegen te spreken? En als we toch zo gaan beginnen, waarom horen we zo weinig protest binnen de VVD nu de partij de motie heeft gesteund om antifa op de terreurlijst te plaatsen? Gelukkig is de jongerenafdeling wel kritisch. In Vroeger & Nu, gaat het over de razendsnel veranderende tijd. Er is al zoveel veranderd sinds het begin van deze podcast - nog geen twee jaar geleden. Waar glijden we naartoe? Gelukkig kunnen we naar de schouwburg en de concertzaal of het museum. Het thema van de week is onzekerheid. En in hoeverre dat leeftijd- of gender gerelateerd is. On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show talking about they're favorite Holiday drinks and then in Italy, the legend of La Befana is one that is popularly told around the time of the Epiphany. What does a Catholic holiday have to do with modern Paganism? Well, La Befana happens to be a witch. According to folklore, on the night before the feast of the Epiphany in early January, Befana flies around on her broom, delivering gifts. Much like Santa Claus, she leaves candy, fruit, or small gifts in the stockings of children who are well-behaved throughout the year. On the other hand, if a child is naughty, he or she can expect to find a lump of coal left behind by La Befana. Then, Researchers at Oregon State have patented a new strain of seaweed that tastes like bacon when it's cooked. The seaweed, a form of red marine algae, looks like translucent red lettuce. It also has twice the nutritional value of kale and grows very quickly. Did we mention it tastes like bacon? According to Oregon State researcher Chris Langdon, his team started growing the new strain while trying to find a good food source for edible sea snails, or abalone, a very popular food in many parts of Asia. The strain is a new type of red algae that normally grows along the Pacific and Atlantic coastlines. Then, Kyle brings up two strange Humanoid sightings where in both cases they were wearing some sort of shinny one piece suits. All of the sudden they heard the brush in the hollow below rattling and they could tell that whatever was making the sounds was rather large. What appeared before them was a three horned man beast. The Gnome is one of a species of diminutive beings, usually described as shriveled little old men, that inhabit the interior of the earth and act as guardians of its treasures. Gnomes are very widespread species, known to a number of human races. Germans name them Erdmanleins, except in the Alpine areas, where they are called Heinzemannchens. In Denmark and Norway they are Nisse; Nissen is a Swedish variation. In Brittany they are called Nains. Tontti to the Finns and Foddenskkmaend is their name in Iceland. The Polish call they by the familar Gnom. Bulgaria and Albania, however, use Dudje. In Hungary, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia, Gnomes are called Mano. The Dutch use Kabouter and the Belgian, Skritek. Switzerland and Luxembourg use the same name, Kleinmanneken, which means "littlemen." Domovoi Djedoes is used in western Russia. Gnomes consist of a number of different types. The most common is the Forest Gnome who rarely comes into contact with man. The Garden Gnome lives in old gardens and enjoys telling melancoly tales. Dune Gnomes are slightly larger than their woodland breathren and choose remarkably drab clothing. House Gnomes have the most knowledge of man, often speaking his language. It is from this family that Gnome Kings are chosen. Farm Gnomes resemble their House brethen, but are more conservative in manner and dress. Siberian Gnomes have been more interbred than other Gnomes and associate freely with trolls. They are much larger than the other types and have an infinately more nasty nature. On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show talking about they're favorite Holiday drinks and then in Italy, the legend of La Befana is one that is popularly told around the time of the Epiphany. What does a Catholic holiday have to do with modern Paganism? Well, La Befana happens to be a witch. According to folklore, on the night before the feast of the Epiphany in early January, Befana flies around on her broom, delivering gifts. Much like Santa Claus, she leaves candy, fruit, or small gifts in the stockings of children who are well-behaved throughout the year. On the other hand, if a child is naughty, he or she can expect to find a lump of coal left behind by La Befana. Then, Researchers at Oregon State have patented a new strain of seaweed that tastes like bacon when it's cooked. The seaweed, a form of red marine algae, looks like translucent red lettuce. It also has twice the nutritional value of kale and grows very quickly. Did we mention it tastes like bacon? According to Oregon State researcher Chris Langdon, his team started growing the new strain while trying to find a good food source for edible sea snails, or abalone, a very popular food in many parts of Asia. The strain is a new type of red algae that normally grows along the Pacific and Atlantic coastlines.
