O razburkani življenjski poti enega najbolj kontroverznih slovenskih pisateljev preteklega stoletja - partizana, boema, ženskarja, političnega zapornika in človeka brezkompromisno svobodnega duhaEden naših najpomembnejših literarnih zgodovinarjev, Dušan Pirjevec, je menil, da slovenski literarni junaki pogosto niso gospodarji svoje usode, temveč se zapirajo v svoje trpljenje ter igrajo pasivno vlogo žrtve, in verjetno bi lahko rekli, da je nekaj tovrstnega sentimenta nedvomno del našega nacionalnega značaja. Morda so prav zato posebej zanimivi ljudje iz naše zgodovine, ki temu stereotipu ne ustrezajo. Eden takih je nedvomno pisatelj Vitomil Zupan. Svojo pustolovsko pot je začel že v mladosti, ko se je podal v svet in delal na ladjah ter razgrajal v pristaniščih, kasneje se je pridružil partizanom v drugi svetovni vojni, po vojni pa je bil leta zaprt zaradi svojega ekscesnega načina življenja in norčevanja iz oblasti. Vse to je nato popisal v vrsti avtobiografskih romanov, ki jih danes prištevamo med najboljša slovenska literarna dela. Razburkano življenje Vitomila Zupana, v ospredju katerega se ves čas vije boj za ohranitev samega sebe in svoje notranje svobode, nam bodo za tokratne Sledi časa pomagali predstaviti pisatelj, prevajalec, kritik in Zupanov prijatelj Aleš Berger, dr. Aleš Gabrič z Inštituta za novejšo zgodovino ter dr. Matevž Kos z Oddelka za primerjalno književnost z ljubljanske filozofske fakultete, vključen pa je tudi arhivski posnetek pisatelja.
