This authentic discussion emphasizes the imperative evolution of modern healthcare to include an integrative approach that valorizes the wisdom of traditional healing practices, the cultivation of noetic skills, and the personal growth of healthcare providers. It underscores the significance of self-awareness, the exploration of one's true calling ('Swadharma'), and the incorporation of emotional and spiritual education alongside conventional medical training. Stressing the limitations of a system overly focused on metrics, it invites a reevaluation of the connections between emotions like shame and fear, and physical health, highlighting the role of thought and behavior patterns in disease manifestation, particularly in heart health. Dr Chennaiyan persuasively argues for a transformative educational and practical framework that embraces holistic health paradigms, including insights from wisdom traditions such as classical Chinese medicine and tantra, viewing the heart not just as an organ, but as a central nexus of potentiality and healing. It advocates for a future where healthcare transcends empirical metrics, nurturing a space that fosters joy, bliss, and comprehensive well-being.00:00 Exploring the Essence of Swadharma and Personal Dharma01:42 Introducing the Healers Council: A Journey into Wisdom and Healing02:48 Meet Dr. Kavitha Chinnaiyan: A Multifaceted Healer06:45 Bridging Science and Spirituality: The Mission of Modern Healers20:29 Understanding Suffering and the Path to Resilience29:41 The Power of Asking the Right Questions: A Deep and Direct Dive into Physician Burnout39:53 Rekindling Wonder and Confronting Fear: The Path to Empowerment for Healers50:34 Exploring the Loss of Wonder and Idealism51:04 The Power of Idealism and Vision in Life51:57 Understanding Swadharma: Aligning with Your True Calling52:40 The Consequences of Misaligned Career Choices57:00 The Impact of Fear and Shame on Professional Healers01:13:15 Addressing the Crisis of Identity in Healthcare01:14:43 The Potential and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare01:23:34 The Importance of Self-Knowledge and Emotional Maturity in Medical Education01:33:55 Envisioning a Future of Healing: The Heart of Wellnesshttps://svatantra.institute/

“Seek refuge in the attitude of detachment and you will amass the wealth of spiritual awareness. The one who is motivated only by the desire for the fruits of their action, and anxious about the results, is miserable indeed.” Bhagavad Gita In medical school, Dr Chinnaiyan was fascinated with embryology. The question that used to hunt her was how does once cell know to differentiate into so many different organs: what is that knowledge? In this week's Parallax, Dr Ankur Kalra welcomes back Dr. Kavitha Chinnaiyan cardiologist, Professor of Medicine at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and accomplished author. This nurturing episode focuses on questions that touch on what it is that we seek as human beings and how can we cultivate awareness and authenticity while practicing modern medicine. Ankur asks Kavitha about what it means to be spiritual as a cardiologist. Kavitha talks about the experiences made possible by mindfulness. They discuss the difference between conditioning and growth. Kavitha talks about burn out and how we could make changes by embracing medicine not only as a measurable science but as an art. What is happiness? How can we become more authentic by letting go of judgements? What can we achieve by looking at medicine not only as a science, but as an art? Questions and comments can be sent to “podcast@radciffe-group.com” and may be answered by Ankur in the next episode. Guest, @ChinnaiyanMD hosted by @AnkurKalraMD. Produced by @RadcliffeCARDIO. Dr Kavitha Chinnaiyan on Heart Health
Pitṛpakṣa is a 16–lunar day period in the fall when we pay homage to our ancestors. The purpose of this tradition is to not just appease generations of our ancestors in another realm, but also to free ourselves of kārmic bonds. Ordinarily, even when we are aware of this tradition, our focus isn't on the internal freedom from ancestral patterns that keep us bound. In this workshop, we will explore the role of this tradition and how it can be used to turn inward and to learn to discard deeply held beliefs and patterns that keep us from experiencing joy, freedom, and lightness. The wisdom of the Mahavidyas, the ten wisdom goddesses who represent the interconnected darkness and light within all of us, has been steeped in esoteric and mystical descriptions that made them seem irrelevant to ordinary life. The power to heal ourselves lies in our power to understand the story of what is happening to us.Our brains are hard-wired to learn from stories. Young children learn about wisdom and values on the laps of their parents and grandparents in the form of stories and fairy tales. The right hemisphere of the brain is designed to learn from the emotional and sensual essence of stories and the archetypes of the heroes in the tales. We can use the power of archetypes, such as the Mahavidyas and their stories to heal ourselves and see the importance of what our life journey holds for us. In her book, Shakti Rising: Embracing Shadow and Light on the Goddess Path to Wholeness , Kavitha Chinnaiyan, a respected cardiologist who found herself on a spiritual search for the highest truth, shares with us how to use the power of these ten wisdom goddesses to transform the physical journey of healing into a powerful path to self-actualization and alignment.

I was really excited when today's guest, Kavitha Chinnaiyan reached out about sharing her new book with me, Shakti Rising. As many of you know I love studying archetypes and have a deep appreciation for stories and mythology about goddesses. As well, her big truth kicked off our chat with a bit of mystery, which I also always love. Her truth was: There is much more to life than what we see. From there we explored: -How we're all far more than our limited identities. -How yoga and spirituality stemmed from being men's practices and few spiritual paths are tailored for women, with those that are traditionally, being quite hidden. -We talked about her intentions for writing the book - to clarify conversations around the "Divine Feminine" and what The Goddess is. I loved this line she said, "There is nothing in existence that isn't her..." -We got into making your life your practice and navigating spiritual materialism and elitism along the way. -And she also shared some of the differences between her spiritual beliefs and her husbands and how they instill beliefs, practices and rituals with their kids despite any differences. I loved this chat and hope you do too! About Kavitha Chinnaiyan: Kavitha Chinnaiyan, MD, is an integrative cardiologist, meditation teacher and tantrika.
