Hello People! Welcome to episode 51 of the When In Yorkshire Podcast, how are you? I hope you are all getting by as well as can be. I am back with another episode recorded at Slamdunk festival in Leeds - it was a busy day! If you've seen who my guest is this week, have a general Interest in punk rock and or podcasts, then this man needs not introduction. For the sake of everyone else, I will still do my best to summarise Mr Matt Stocks.  I first remember seeing Matt conducting interviews on Skuzz TV and then he was one of the voices behind Kerrang Radio both of which were done very well and were informative and entertaining however after not hearing anything of him for a few years, I noticed his name crop up on a few festival posters where he was DJing and then it was his podcast Life in The Stocks which really captures my attention. I can't remember how I came across it but I remember listening to his episode with Frank Turner, then Tom Green, Jamie Lenman, Andy Cairns and Grant Nicholas all of which captivated me and I have been hooked on Life in the stocks since. It's not just the amazing guests he manages to get, although there are some huge names from the world of entertainment but it's the tone and candid nature of the conversations. Matt has a great ability to get his guests on a level where they seem to feel comfortable covering any topic and many divulge very intimate thoughts and feelings. As a listener, it feels like a blend of interview and then getting to hear a private conversation between friends which ticks all the boxes for me.  And then we move on to his latest podcast with Killswitch Engage vocalist Jessie Leech he which, if you haven't heard - I am jealous of the amount of amazing hours of conversation you have ahead of you. These episodes focus on the people anf their experiences only really touching on their work if it's relevant and really has created a community where listeners are guests on the show too.  Links for both of these podcasts are in the description for you to check out as well as links to Matt's first book - transcripts of sections from his life the stocks podcast covering various topics and it really is a great read covering conversations with the likes of Andrew wk l, Doug Stanhope,    Whilst Matt is known to be an open book and I was aware he would answer anything I asked if him, I inte ntionally kept this conversation light as it really felt like the day was a real milestone in the journey of his life in music and I wanted to get his take on this. There are many more questions I'd love to ask Matt and hopefully we'll get to do a follow up episode in the future. For now I'll let you listen to episode 51 from slam dunk festival with Matt Stocks.    https://open.spotify.com/show/3i5ON0eGOgaWgX58FG7rNk?si=K0FSW35zTMaHJ-wGpW2ywA   https://open.spotify.com/show/4l04uOo5aE4ueSfeBREpQY?si=qEj7C95qShyxROfuaohwZw   Life in the Stocks: Veracious Conversations with Musicians & Creatives (Volume One) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1644281872/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_SHM3MTH0PFZ8331DG4FG

Brand new eposide out now!   Dead Reynolds ASCENDING ANTHEMIC ROCK QUINTET SET LOOSE NEW SINGLE & REVEAL DEBUT ALBUM PLANS! Fast rising modern rockers, DEAD REYNOLDS, are poised to climb even further with the release of their ultra-hooky new single, Bright Lights, out now Check out Bright lights https://youtu.be/HESGPSkc0aE . This killer cut has been taken from the band's hugely anticipated debut album, Breathe With Strangers, which arrives on Friday 20th August via Fort Records.   Ever since their explosion onto the scene at the end of 2018, DEAD REYNOLDS have gone from strength to strength. To date, the energetic fivesome have assembled an army of dedicated followers and earned the respect and praise from a plethora of tastemakers. The band have racked up widespread support for their recorded work, including last year's sophomore EP, Frontier, which received buoyant accolades from Powerplay Magazine and Louder/Classic Rock Magazine. The release also gained extensive recognition from the likes of Maximum Volume Music, Moshville, Real Gone, Devils Gate Music, and The Punk Site, to name just a few. As well as obtaining broad acclaim for their previous EPs, the band have also notched up airtime with Kerrang! TV and Scuzz TV. DEAD REYNOLDS have also been repeatedly pioneered by Kerrang Radio's Johnny Doom, with Johnny consistently championing the band's singles and releases. Not only have DEAD REYNOLDS been regularly playlisted by Kerrang Radio, but the Brit anthemic rockers have also picked up worldwide radio airplay across fifteen countries, and have been played by more than two hundred radio stations. Sharing stages with everyone from Deaf Havana, Mallory Knox, and Mark Morriss (The Bluetones), as well as their own headline shows, has certainly increased their profile. The band's Spotify streaming numbers also demonstrate their notable growth (Dead Reynolds' last EP, Frontier, is up to 100k plays and counting).   DEAD REYNOLDS are now set to break out to the masses. The band will release their debut album, Breathe With Strangers, in August. The Brit modern rock crew are also primed to drop their massively captivating new single, Bright Lights. The track is an infectious piece of contagious alt-rock laced with thoughtful breakdowns, a huge refrain, and a modern tilt which demonstrates that the five-piece are unafraid to twist and reshape their sound. Further singles and video releases are planned throughout the Spring and Summer, so watch out. DEAD REYNOLDS are destined to be one of the bands to breakthrough in 2021.   Dead Reynolds links www.twitter.com/dead_reynolds www.facebook.com/DeadReynolds/ www.instagram.com/dead_reynolds/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/7pAkErb3vLY5dgghk9zmqf https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX5fAPAYK3EA-J76zhRMWIA   Thank you to SaN PR my thoughts Bright Lights Only one way to start the review for this track, for me bright lights is epic, it feels like its already arena written, great melody and hooks in the, guitars with a real drive and punch and I love the tones, most of all the sense this track picks up the intensity and pace really high octane energy coming off this track Our next single this week is Toby Jepson   Toby Jepson found fame as the frontman/Singer/songwriter for British Rock Band Little Angels who achieved significant success in the UK, Europe and Japan Between 1989 and 1995. Today we know Toby for being a part of the incredible band Wayward sons   'Unwind' is the lead single taken from Wayward Sons and former Little Angels frontman Toby Jepson's forthcoming compilation album 'Viewfinder'.   Originally featured on his 2001 'Refresh' EP and remastered for the retrospective release 'Viewfinder' by Simon Francis (Toby and the Whole Truth 'Ignorance Is Bliss'); 'Unwind' is an up tempo contemporary rock song that's perfectly suited to lift moods and still remains fresh to the ears 20 years on.   Toby reflects on the making of 'Unwind' and 'Viewfinder' album in a new series of story videos, which further reveal what happened to the British singer/song writer between Little Angels splitting up and the formation of Wayward Sons:   .Check out the video for 'Unwind': https://youtu.be/xM6cHxbYTF8   . 'Viewfinder': https://youtu.be/mbMZKs3ixjU   'Viewfinder' is officially released on the 12th March 2021 via Jepsongs Recordings.   Toby Jepson Social links https://www.tobyjepsonofficial.com https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKYqWet2jpPHLa5bS5eEA6g https://www.facebook.com/tobyjepsonofficial/ https://twitter.com/TobyJepson https://www.instagram.com/therealtobyjepson/     My thoughts Toby Jepson Unwind Another high octane track to carry on the show with, Unwind as I have said is high octane lots of energy and thing I have picked out straight away that I love is this pop punk feel, it feels like a classic new found glory and by no means is this meat as insult to toby or new found glory. Its catchy plenty of hooks and packed with melody, a really catchy fun track to go into the weekend with Thank you to Rob - Stampede Press   Just a couple of Questions Does anyone feel the time is approaching say in 2 months to start thinking about attending shows? Today we are joined by Ant McGinley, who is a radio presenter at Communicorp UK and producer of several podcasts, including award winning football funny show “On The Left Side”. Ant started his love affair with audio on a student radio station in 1996. After graduation he went to work for BBC Radio 1, Classic FM and Kerrang Radio. He made his very first podcasts in 2005, only stopping because he took the opportunity to present a morning show on commercial radio. In 2013 he took a leap of faith and decided that podcasting was the future. Since then he’s made about 450 podcast episodes and picked up 3 nominations including 1 Award for his work. (Statistically this means at least one in every hundred episodes he does is quite good.) He picked up the award for his satirical football show "On The Left Side" which he makes with his long time colleague Jim Salveson. The show has won critical acclaim and led to them both being hired to create new podcast content for the Communicorp radio group. Ant is based in Manchester, UK, but his passion and experience has led him to being invited to speak on podcasting at events and on radio stations around the world. One of the examples, is the worlds largest podcaster conference Podcast Movement where he was with his keynote presentation “Podcasting from Nothing”. In this talk, Ant guides the room from starting without any idea, or equipment, to releasing a show on all good podcast apps (including Castbox) in just 20 minutes. In this episode, we are talking about podcast content creation. We discuss what is the difference between radio and podcast content, podcasting as business, and some key things about podcasting in Europe.

Well, ladies and gents, welcome to the last interview of Season One of Life In The Stocks. And we end where it all began for our host as he welcomes on to his podcast his old friend and former Kerrang! Radio colleague, Johnny Doom. Johnny's been like a big brother to Matt since he started out in the music and broadcasting business in 2010, and it made complete sense to draw a line under the first season of his podcast with a nice lengthy two hour chat with the Brummie punk & radio legend. This ranks amongst the very best episodes of the podcast so far. Be sure to check out Johnny's show on Kerrang! Radio, too.Follow Matt Stocks on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram: @mattstocksdjCheck out the Life In The Stocks Patreon page here: www.patreon.com/lifeinthestocks See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Welcome to episode 13 of the Wonder Junkie Podcast featuring Johnny Doom from Kerrang! Radio.  It’s safe to say that if I hadn’t have met Johnny, I probably wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing today. Back in 2009, I hosted my own radio show “Metalheadz” on Calon FM and was lucky enough to attend Download Festival with a media pass where I got to interview bands and bug as many people in the music industry as possible for a job. Luckily, Johnny didn’t get too annoyed by my bugging and gave me a foot onto the ladder into Q and Kerrang! Radio and it all progressed from there.  So there was a lot to catch up on as I hadn’t seen Johnny since Download Festival (this year) but I wanted to get the back story on Johnny as there’s a whole heap of stories I’ve heard over the years that I’d imagine have never made it to the airwaves…  Johnny explained how came upon the name “Johnny Doom” through the band Doom, who John Peel was a great champion of. He also clarified whether or not the Doom logo was ripped off by the now famous game / movie.  As with most careers in the music industry, Johnny’s is full of ups and downs and he talked about how he worked as a production runner in the 90’s after departing Doom, driving Slayer to McDonald's and delivering KFC to Amy Winehouse… never doubt the glamor of the music industry.  Amazingly, after twelve years Johnny is still with Kerrang! Radio today, he currently presents evenings Mon-Fri 7-10pm and talked about how Kerrang! Radio got started, how he got involved with the station, reaching 1.4 million listeners and where the station is at now. Outside of radio, Johnny has recently delved into the world of TV with his new now show AMP’d on Big Centre TV, so we talked about that and how he finds being a radio presenter on TV.  If you follow Johnny on social, you’ve probably had that “I’m not sure if he’s being serious or not” moment and Johnny happily, admits he’s a massive troll but is trying to not get too sucked into the world of social. But in those moments where Johnny is being serious, you can tell it’s sincere as we talked about him growing up in the Thatcher years, the polarization of politics, how Jeremy Corbyn has refreshed politics and if he would ever consider properly getting involved in politics.  We also spoke about how fatherhood has changed his life and his outlook on the world, why he still loves Birmingham and thought’s on Phil Anselmo's white power outburst. Johnny is, without a doubt, one of the most down to earth guys you’ll meet in the music industry, I’ve always found that refreshing as you find yourself dealing with people’s egos. He might take the piss out of you on social, but he’d be the first person you’d wanna have a beer with down the pub or at a gig. I hope he gets another twelve years on Kerrang! Radio as we need people who don’t take themselves too seriously on air and I’m sure this won’t be our only chat in the years to come.  http://petebailey.net/podcast

David Icke talks us through his “awakening”. He goes from being a TV sports personality to the world's most listened to conspiracy theorist. This interview was first broadcast on Kerrang Radio in an edited form around 2007. Icke's work is nowadays appreciated by various musicians such as Matt Bellamy, Noel Gallagher and Robbie Williams. The comedian Russell Brand had him on Radio 2 not long after this interview. Icke recently spoke to an audience of thousands for over 11 hours at Wembley Arena. It's one of my favourites.
