Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comHow should the church engage with the world without becoming entangled in political partisanship? In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Steven Felix-Jäger to discuss his book The Problem and Promise of Freedom: A Public Theology for the Church. As an artist, scholar, and minister, Dr. Felix-Jäger explores how the church can cultivate a faithful public witness through generosity, hospitality, and a biblically grounded understanding of freedom—without falling into the traps of culture wars and power-seeking.We discuss the dangers of politicized theology, the role of the church in societal issues like immigration and justice, and how Christians can balance civic engagement with their ultimate allegiance to God's kingdom. Dr. Felix-Jäger also shares insights on consumerism in the church, the importance of discernment in modern political discourse, and how the church can embody the radical love of Jesus in a deeply polarized world.Guest Bio:Dr. Steven Felix-Jäger is an artist, scholar, minister, and educator whose work explores the intersection of faith and culture. He is an Associate Professor of Theology and Worship, Chair of the Worship and Media Department, and Director of Academic Research at Life Pacific University in San Dimas, California. He holds a PhD in Theology from the University of Wales, an MFA in Visual Art from Azusa Pacific University, and an MA in Ministerial Leadership from Southeastern University. What does the Bible (and the Apostle Paul in particular) teach us about the role of women in ministry leadership? To help us find answers to that critical question, I invited my friend Ryan Lytton to offer his expertise. Ryan is a minister, scholar, and theologian, specializing in Biblical Interpretation during the Patristic Period (100-800 AD). He is a professor at Life Pacific University holding a B.A. in Biblical Studies, an M.A. in Christian Thought, and is currently pursuing a PhD.
BYU basketball coach Mark Pope and senior guard Spencer Johnson addressed the media after the BYU Cougars defeated Life Pacific University 83-55 in exhibition action.
“To live holistically in the Spirit requires knowing that the Spirit guides us toward beauty, goodness and truth,” write Dr. Steven Félix-Jäger and Dr. Yoon Shin in their new book, Renewing Christian Worldview. “It also requires living out and desiring beauty, goodness, and truth as week to truly know them. If we don't embody beauty, goodness, and truth as we seek to truly know them, they'll persist as ideal abstractions, betraying our renewal spirituality,” they go on to explain. In this episode of the Influence Podcast, I'm talking with them about how the experience of the Holy Spirit changes our worldview. I'm George P. Wood, executive editor of Influence magazine and your host. Dr. Steven Félix-Jäger is associate professor and chair of the Worship Arts and Media program at Life Pacific University in San Dimas, California. Dr. Yoon Shin is coleader of the Philosophy Interest Group in the Society for Pentecostal Studies.
