In this episode of Gut Check, guest Linda Nguyen, MD, from Stanford University, and host Brian Lacy, MD, from Mayo Clinic Florida, talk about recent updates to the American College of Gastroenterology guideline on diagnosing and managing gastroparesis.
Gastroparesis is a debilitating digestive condition that medical experts are learning more and more about each year. That's why The American College of Gastroenterology recently updated it's clinical guideline for Gastroparesis. Joining us are co-authors of the guideline, leading Gastroenterologists Dr. Linda Nguyen and Dr. Michael Camilleri to give us a deeper understanding of what the updates mean for patients and providers, how they and their fellow co-authors arrived at these clinical updates, and why they're optimistic about further studies that they hope will lead to better treatment options for patients.
Working with Pixvana to Host 360 Videos Dear Linda, Wow!!! You did a LOT of work putting this together and that is much appreciated. The main scene would have: 1. 12 Species ports (as you noted w/ 65 cats) 2. 2 Hospital ports - (The Windsong Memorial Hospital for surgeries and the Recovery Hospital for things like baby bobcats who are in for the earliest part of their journey back to the wild) - I have more surgery videos than anything because it's been easy to set a camera in the middle of the action and capture interesting things going on all the way around. 3. Bobcat Rehab - This would be scenes of their rehab after surgery or as they grow big enough to go out to our 4000 sq foot runs and then the releases back to the wild. We release 4-6 bobcats a year, so I'll always have new content for this. 4. The Trading Post Gift Shop - I'm working on a Google Earth type experience in there 5. Rainbow bridge - Cats live longer here than anywhere else, but 20 of our cats are over the age of 20 which is twice the typical lifespan, so I wanted to have a separate scene to move cats videos after they are gone, if the video was particularly good, or compelling in its narrative. Because the old cats need a lot of intensive care, such as stick feeding and blood 'cicles to get extra fluids in them, I get better video of them than the ones who just want to trash the camera. 6. Kitten Cabana - Sanctuaries don't breed cats for life in cages, and they don't allow contact with big cats because that makes people want to pet them; which is what drives all of the breeding for cub play opportunities. Our 100 volunteers and interns LOVE cats though, so we foster domestic cat kittens for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Our volunteers socialize these kittens to make them more adoptable, and we get a lot of cute footage of that. Everyone loves kittens and sometimes there are as many as 30 running wild in the Kitten Cabana. I realize that the storage capacity of Oculus Go will keep me from being able to host all of what I want, but I think that will increase, and we can add as we go. I just downloaded all of my current clips in the Tiger Lake Spin and that took up half of my 64 GB space. I'd really like the one called PSA - BCR to be as high quality as possible, if you can increase the resolution on that one. Thank you for the links. I was already part of the 360 Insta group and have applied to the Professionals group. Oculus says the Rift has shipped, so I'm looking forward to our meeting Wed. at 4PM ET. Linda Nguyen wrote: Hi Carole, Thank you for your time this afternoon. We're super excited for your event on November 3, 2018. Based on our phone conversation, you would like to build out an interactive experience for your sanctuary with the following structure that is similar to the veer.tv listed here and the information I found on your website. Home/Main Video Point of Entry (she listed all the cats by name and species) Hospital All scenes will have a return hyperport to home, to secondary landing page ( species, hospital and etc...) and/or to see a nearby enclosure. This is a rough draft from our initial call today. To help our call go by smoothly next week, I will need your help to fill out the following details: On the main video, how many categories, this includes Species, Hospital, and any area of the preserve would you like to connect. If you were to include all of the experiences based on the species, of the big cats themselves, and facilities, there will be least 81 unique scenes. We have a confirmed meeting for next Wednesday at 4PM EST to go through the SPIN Creator Tools as well. Before I forget to send it to you, here are the FB groups I have found really helpful in the past as I have started to make my own 360 video experiences as well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Insta360Community/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/360.video.professionals/ I hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Kind regards, Linda Nguyen Hi, I'm Carole Baskin and I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. These are my views and opinions. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/ I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet. Movement Talent was launched in 2020 to introduce a new way of finding, supporting, and maximizing talent for social justice organizations in the U.S. In this episode, Rusty speaks with its founder, Linda Nguyen, about the ways they have been working towards a more collaborative, equitable, holistic, and efficient approach to talent in progressive social movements. The conversation covers Movement Talent's role as a support system at the organizational level, and at the individual level as well. Also, and probably most importantly, they discuss the new effort's work as a “membrane”, which looks to promote cross-learning on talent-related issues amongst organizations with the belief that they can fortify one another as an ecosystem. Other topics discussed: The needs Movement Talent seeks to address. Benefits of investing in “people-systems” internally within organizations and externally in the ecosystem in which organizations operate. Movement Talent's accountability to social, racial, gender, economic, and environmental justice. At a time of profound turmoil in America community-based and national nonprofits are demanding big bold social change. Progressive nonprofits are the frontline of movements with the capacity to remake inequitable systems affecting the environment, health care, housing and immigration. This is consequential culture-shifting work and nonprofits need infrastructure and staffing that is commensurate to the challenge. Linda Nguyen launched Movement Talent to position social change work for success by connecting the right people to the right organizations. She draws from her considerable experience in recruiting, sustaining and developing staff at Community Change and leverages her relationships with movement organizations. Linda has an ambitious goal, viewing candidates beyond their fit for a particular group. She looks at the potential of each candidate to staff a high-capacity movement for change. And she is placing staff into many organizational roles because it takes more than a great executive director to make an organization effective. This new candidate-centric approach is an exceedingly fresh take on building a movement. It starts by treating people and organizations with care and respect.
