Lisa worked in fashion for 10+ years and was feeling very burnt out. Before then Lisa was born and raised in a small coastal city Northeast of Beijing. While her single mom worked full time she used to have tea time with her grandma often as a child. Wanting to go back to a time and place where nourishing oneself's wellbeing was simple and wonderful just like tea time with grandma Lisa went on a transformational trip to Shangri-la, Yunnan - the birthplace of tea. There she discovered the Roses that the locals enjoy as a flower tea and delicacy in pastry. The sensory experience was so special and transformational that she made it her mission to empower others to feel more joy, beauty, and nourishment on a daily basis through a cup of flower tea ritual.    In This Episode: Lisa's origins story and her tea rituals with her grandma. We invited Lisa Li to talk about her recent work, Prefix-Tuning: Optimizing Continuous Prompts for Generation. Prefix tuning is a lightweight alternative to finetuning, and the idea is to tune only a fixed-length task-specific continuous vector, and to keep the pretrained transformer parameters frozen. We discussed how prefix tuning compares with finetuning and other efficient alternatives on two tasks in various experimental settings, and in what scenarios prefix tuning is preferable.
