POPULARITY
On this episode of Majority Rules, the gang starts off with everyone's favorite topic, Mizzou Baseball, which leads to a lengthy discussion between the group about whether Bieser should have gotten fired and how short KJ's leash is given the woeful season. Matthew and Sammy also have thoughts about the new turf announcement, Sam Horn's debut, and predictions on if they will win an SEC game this season. Rory is back and joins the group in real-time to talk all things Mizzou Tennis & Golf. Bianca Turati has done a really nice job with the tennis team this season, and the golf teams continue to shine under coaches Millican (men's) and Westrup Gaeta (women's). Since Karen has been focusing on gym, both Matthew and Dylan handle the softball updates, as they recap the pretty good (?) A&M series, which included yet another W over another no. 1 team. They discuss playing through injuries, postseason expectations (or not), and Madison Walker raking. Abigail then joins via video update with a quick recap of all you've missed in Mizzou Track & Field. There also were a lot of updates for out of season sports, as WBB continues to make news. Players with no eligibility are entering in the portal (insert Succession "You are not serious people" gif here), Harper lost the only incoming freshman recruit, but really, there's a lot of be excited for. The group chats briefly about who she's brought in, and how this is a sneaky good class that just needs a couple more pieces. Matthew shares volleyball and wrestling updates while Karen's wifi goes off the rails, before returning with all awesome news out of Gymnastics. There's so much to talk about from this incredible season, and it's all exciting (and somewhat infuriating regarding ESPN/ABC disappearing the team & some suspect scores) as they have left a mark on Mizzou history. Rory wraps up with a swim transfer update, and the team talks about Larissa Anderson's breaking social media post on the way out. Never a dull moment with this group and Majority Rules. Can some key additions help Mizzou baseball improve from last season? Second-year head coach Kerrick Jackson joined the Big Show to discuss how he views his team heading into the spring, and the Tigers' season-opening weekend in Puerto Rico.
Mizzou Baseball pitcher Brock Lucas joins the podcast to talk about growing up in the small central Missouri town of St. Elizabeth, his mentality on the mound, goals for his team this season and more. Plus, Matt and Brad recount some great Mizzou Basketball wins, a transformational gift for two Olympic Sports programs, and everything else that's new with Mizzou Athletics.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In this super-sized episode of Majority Rules, there are so many updates. Dylan pops in quickly to talk about Mizzou's 1-0 loss to Tennessee before getting into the Tigers' MUST-WIN game v. Ole Miss this week. Matthew discusses volleyball's continued struggles closing out quality competition, and what he expects of the Tigers' extensive homestand. Rory's got updates on the incredible progress of the women's golf team, before the group gets into a long discussion about Mizzou Baseball and its weirdly named "Fall World Series" which is just a series of intrasquad games. Next up is swim & dive, where the group discusses personal best times at an intrasquad meet and how excited the group is to be covering them. Karen shares softball Fall Ball updates, including the Tigers' 14-10 win over kU and recruiting wins, before the show ends with the massive gymnastic news that Beam Queen Helen Hu is returning and its implications and some wrestling preseason rankings. In this episode of Majority Rules, we rejoice because the whole gang is back together! Dylan discusses Mizzou Soccer's recent win, goalkeeping masterpieces, senior sendoffs, MVPs and what's next for Golan's bunch, before shifting over to Matthew & Mizzou Volleyball, who reminds us that the Tigers were thisclose to starting the SEC season 2-0 after sweeping LSU and then encountering the rare reverse sweep by A&M on Sunday that broke our hearts and minds. We talk about the awesomeness of Mychael Vernon (upcoming Over the Net guest) and "The Country's Best Server" Jordan Iliff, before getting into the October schedule as the Tigers prepare for an extensive homestand. Cross Country is up next, and Abigail chats about getting to watch her sister and the incredible progress of this Mizzou men's team. We hear about Coach Levermore's reaction to one of his runner's performances, and discuss how at meets like this it's hard to be both a fan AND a journalist (a fanalist). We then check in with Rory on both Mizzou Baseball, who needs to do a better job of sharing their schedule changes with the public, and their upcoming Fall Ball season. We then pivot to Mizzou M/W Golf, who is currently in Arkansas and performing pretty well at the Blessings Invite. We check in with Karen about Mizzou Softball, who (wo)manhandled Missouri State on Friday. She provides some takeaways and demands jersey numbers in the future, before she closes out the show with a discussion about the immense pressures of being a Mizzou Gymnastics oath keeper and how her hair is so big cuz it's full of secrets. Kerrick Jackson is a true trailblazer. He made history last year when he was hired as the first Black baseball Head Coach at the University of Memphis. In one season at Memphis, Jackson led the program to their first winning season since 2017, racking up 29 wins. In June, he accepted the head coaching job at the University of Missouri. A hire that allowed him to return home - he had served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Mizzou from 2011-15 - and to make even more history as the first Black head coach in Mizzou baseball history and the first Black (baseball) head coach in the history of the SEC. On this episode of the BBM podcast, I spoke with Coach Jackson about his decision to leave Memphis and return to Mizzou Baseball. We spoke candidly about the history he is making, the impact on his family, and the challenges of coaching at the highest level. He is truly a tremendous leader and one of our favorite all-time guests on the BBM podcast. You will certainly learn a lot from this episode. As always, please subscribe, rate, and share the BBM podcast. Follow everything Black Baseball Mixtape on Instagram.

For most people, it's hard to see the writing on the wall toward the end of their athletic career until it hits them right in the face... My guest today, Connor Brumfield, knew his fate in baseball before most at the end of his junior year in college at Missouri. Connor is a homegrown guy from Colombia, MO and dreamed of playing baseball for the Tigers. He did just that after becoming an All State player and All American in high school. As his career was winding down, he started to see his teammates get drafted and some of them obtained huge signing bonuses. The wheels started turning and he decided to make the jump to work for Runyan Capital in Beverly Hills, CA, to pursue a financial advisor career. Within Runyan Capital, he and his team created "Invested Athlete". Lots of athletes make bad financial decisions and when the money stops flowing in, some of them are misguided and unfortunately go bankrupt... Connor and his team are trying to prevent that with transparency and discipline as you will hear in this episode...Check out their story, subscribe and follow my channels as well below!
