We kick things off with intros and a recap of Dre's wedding before jumping straight into Quick Hits. Team USA wins gold in hockey behind Jack Hughes. The women's hockey team declines a White House invite — we discuss. KD says he wants another Olympic run — should he do it? Fernando Mendoza skips throwing at the Combine — big deal or overblown? Lakers fall to Peyton Pritchard (and maybe Caitlin Clark comps aren't so crazy). Pat Riley statue talk. Claressa Shields wins by unanimous decision. Then it's time for Rule Breakers: Kansas State fires Jerome Tang after his rant, Mick Cronin throws out his own player at UCLA, and USC WR Ja'kobi Lane accuses a recruit of stealing. We also send love with a RIP to Jesse Jackson. Tap in — we don't make the rules, we just talk about 'em.

The highest level Trump administration officials gathered two days ago for a seminar on how to win the midterm elections. Reports indicate the information they learned and the campaign they will offer are different than what you may think. Stephen Colbert is just a flat out liar as he has tried to rig a senate primary in Texas in favor of a white male running against Jasmine Crockett, a black female. The Kansas House overrides the governor's veto and has defined gender in the state that will apply to bathrooms, ID's and driver licences. U2 goes all Sprinsteen with their own song about Renee Good and it's almost as bad. But there's a silver lining about local musicians in KC that I'll share with you. KU rolls at OSU but once Darryn Peterson had a big first half and it was obvious KU had this, he sat with cramps. Oh, well. Mizzou builds a 19 point lead over Vandy but has to hang on. But they did... and they're in pretty good shape for the tourney if they can finish well. There's a flurry of Chiefs news with Rashee Rice being sued and Patrick Mahomes getting a new contract. Three college basketball coaches melt down and it makes Jerome Tang look tame. We have a Gary Lezak story for you and our Final Final is about a tasty treat changing its ingredients.

Baby Grooch has arrived, Kevin is on FMLA, and Michigan State got absolutely torched in Madison — so it's business as usual on Can't Read, Can't Write. Mike and Plum break down a brutal loss in Wisconsin (51-34 at the half says everything you need to know), dig into the coaching carousel with new QB coach John McNulty and RB coach Travis Russell — both with uncomfortable Michigan ties — and rant about a CBS listicle that had the audacity to give Kyle Whittingham an A.Hockey's rolling, Notre Dame's coming to town, and the guys preview two must-win games against UCLA and Ohio State. Off Grand River, a Providence-St. John's brawl, Doug Gottlieb losing his mind over a technical, Jerome Tang getting fired for cause (and his AD making it worse), and Canada's curling team getting caught doing the absolute worst thing you can do in a gentleman's sport — and then telling Sweden to go pound sand about it.Listener questions, a sponsor read, a whiskey review nobody asked for, and a formal welcome to the newest Spartan. Go green.

While the left works hard to find any little thing that looks bad for ICE or our current enforcement of immigration, the man in charge turns out to be a real human with a real heart. Wait until you hear the story Tom Homan told at a conference about the victims of our open borders. According to a report by the Topeka Cap Journal, democrats approved all kinds of voter packets to be sent to Kansans that never requested them. This is a huge scam. We have the information you need to disable that start/stop button on your car. Ron DeSantis hammers NYC over the Mayor's new budget as it's bigger than the entire state of Florida budget. In sports, no Jerome Tang spells success for KSU as they get a win. The Royals take batting practice with the new ball/strike computer system on at Surprise Stadium. It happened on a day the leader of the player's union resigned in a sex scandal. And a self proclaimed "woke bit__" skating for team USA had a little too much Trump hate in her heart and flamed out on the ice and then embarrassed us all as a total baby balling her eyes out. Ughh. Tiger Woods is in the news and our Final Final is a beautiful message about Jesse Jackson.
Sports betting analyst Kelly in Vegas joins the show to react to the headline-grabbing comments from K-State head coach Jerome Tang, who said he was “hired to be fired.” What did he mean by it — brutal honesty, calculated motivation, or a sign of mounting pressure in Manhattan? We dive into the expectations surrounding the Kansas State Wildcats, how quickly momentum can shift in today's college basketball landscape, and whether Tang's candid remark reflects confidence or concern. In this week's Big 12 mailbag, how ugly will it get between Jerome Tang and Kansas State? Also, is college baseball an underrated money-maker for college sports? That and more of your Big 12 questions, including the more attractive Big 12 basketball jobs, what teams are potentially at risk of not making the NCAA Tournament, how many from the Big 12 will, along with Pete's personal Doug Gottlieb story and experience!
If we start to put the pieces of a puzzle together the picture became very clear the past few days... the elderly leaders of the democrat party are being fazed out and don't actually believe the things they've been saying publicly. President Obama says he's being "aged out" by the younger part of his party and he's right. But he's not alone. We take a deep dive. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio gives one of the greatest speeches in US history by a Secretary of State on foreign soil at the security conference in Germany. And yes, it was better than AOC's appearance. Wow, what a difference. An Australian influencer that wanted to live on singer Billie Eilish's "stolen land, borderless property" is turned away after being detained at LAX. KCUR, the liberal public radio station in KC, infuriates it's listeners by giving airtime to Trump supporters. In sports, Royals owner John Sherman says they are close to announcing a location and deal for a new stadium. Gene Taylor has done the impossible at K-State..... he's turned Jerome Tang from the least popular coach in America that nobody supported to a sympathatic figure with an incredible new attorney fighting his cause. And Pro Football Focus ranks NFL quarterbacks, we'll tell you where Mahomes is listed. Our Final Final is the go-to BBQ experience in KC that convinced Argentina's officials that our cowtown is the perfect place for them to stay during the World Cup.
Ok, I know.... we didn't get a podcast up this morning, but hey, it's President's Day. We were traveling all day right after doing the radio show in the lobby of a hotel. You may hear some kids in the background and you will definitely hear Cabo woofing at another pup that walked by. It's near the very end. Anyway, we need to move President's Day up and the Jerome Tang situation in Manhattan is one of the all time most embarrassing debacles in the 41 years I've covered sports in KC. Here ya go...
