Earlier this year, Love Jones returned with the album, The Greatest Show on Earth, their first album since 2010, and Ben Daughtrey, Barry Thomas, and Jonathan Palmer discuss their journey to releasing the new album with Nicole Barlow and Ryan Pak on Soundtrack Your Life. They also talk about their start as a band in 1990 and how they ended up in LA, where they would meeting the likes of director John Favreau and actor Vince Vaughn. Favreau and Vaughn who were making an indie-film called Swingers. The band contributed their song "Paid for Lovin'" to the soundtrack but the band was involved with more than just that song. Bassist Barry Thomas was a music consultant on the film, helping pick out songs for the soundtrack, and the band almost ended up in the film itself, since Favreau and Vaughn were such big fans of the band. Ben, Barry, and John share behind the scenes stories about Swingers, they also chat about jamming with producer/composer Jon Brion in the early 90s, and appearing in films like Since You've Been Gone and The Sweetest Thing. TRIGGER WARNING: pregnancy loss and sexual assault 4:50:00 - 15:60:00Jennifer Gimenez had the kind of life people dream about. Named one of Maxim's 100 Hottest Women on Earth, the youngest model to grace the cover of American Elle, and starring in films like Blow, Charlie's Angels, and The Sweetest Thing - on the outside, it looked like pure glamour. But behind the camera, a very different story was unfolding. In this episode, Jennifer shares how she fell in love with cocaine at the height of her modeling career, chasing a high that quietly unraveled everything. What started as part of the lifestyle led her into a cycle of addiction, brief moments of sobriety sparked by an accidental NA meeting, and relapses while still showing up on major film sets. Without a real foundation in recovery, the pattern kept repeating.Eventually, everything caught up with her—leading to treatment with Dr. Drew and a breaking point that included a failed suicide attempt. On January 15, 2005, Jennifer made a decision that would change her life forever. Now sober for two decades, she dedicates her life to helping others find recovery alongside her husband, Tim Ryan. This conversation pulls back the curtain on the illusion of “having it all” and explores what it really takes to build a life that looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside.Today's episode is brought to you by Seasons Treatment Center in Malibu. For over 18 years, Seasons in Malibu has been a sanctuary for individuals seeking to reclaim their lives from addiction and mental health challenges. Our story began with a simple but profound vision: To create a luxurious sanctuary for individuals struggling with addiction or mental health issues, where they can receive the finest, evidence-based treatment in the world.Built on Compassion, Driven by ExcellenceWhat started as a small number of compassionate professionals has grown into one of the nation's most respected luxury treatment centers. But growth has never meant losing sight of what matters most—the individual engaging with our therapists, one-on-one, taking the courageous first step toward healing. From the beginning, we understood that truly transformative treatment requires more than clinical protocols. It demands a personalized approach, led by the most qualified professionals, in an environment that nurtures the whole person. That's why we've assembled a team where every primary therapist holds a Doctorate in Psychology—a distinction virtually unmatched in our field.Check out Seasons Malibu online or call 1-866-314-5160 for more information.Connect with Seasons on InstagramDM me on InstagramMessage me on FacebookListen AD FREE & workout with me on Patreon Connect with me on TikTokEmail me chasingheroine@gmail.comSee you next week!

This week on Rewind, Rethink, we watch The Sweetest Thing (2002), a chaotic early-2000s rom-com that fully leans into mess, mayhem, and sex from the female perspective. The film follows three female friends on a wildly unpredictable quest for love (and a lot of questionable decisions). We unpack whether the film is just crude, over-the-top fun… or something ahead of its time. Does it flip the script on traditional rom-coms, or fall right into the same traps? And how does it land today, in a world that talks very differently about relationships, sex, and friendship?

She also opens up about the mental‑health crisis she faced in 2019, the intensive therapy that helped her reclaim her voice, and the way music became her conduit for processing grief, insomnia, and the restless energy of a night‑owl musician.Listeners get a sneak peek at Reeya's upcoming August release “This Place,” a concept album that maps nine cities to nine core emotions, and we hear about the stories behind singles such as “Misery of Place,” “For the First Time,” “Runner,” and the soon‑to‑drop “Upstate Rust.”The conversation rounds out with playful cover‑quiz challenges, a nostalgic look at the Hudson‑Valley bar that sparked her creative community, and a heartfelt promise that when words fail, music always speaks.Stay tuned, grab your headphones, and prepare for an episode packed with candid conversation, lyrical insights, and a reminder that—no matter how dark the night—there's always a melody waiting to lift you up.And remember: when you need a mental‑health boost, BetterHelp is just a click away at betterhelp.com/music‑speaks.

Frank Murphy is joined by singer-songwriter Logan Murrell, who has just released a new album titled Love, Mom under the artist name, LAMB. Find the album on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/album/148Xa3COJwyEC37ePOXGYG?si=RwRuaoXpQbS9Jr_aV3Dl5g or on Apple Music at https://music.apple.com/us/album/love-mom/1773141328 Follow her on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/loganashleymurrellbrakefield/  Logan had wanted to marry someone whose last name started with B so that her full initials would become L.A.M.B. She does not like the taste of lamb meat, which reminds Frank of seeing a sheepdog demonstration in Ireland.  She was inspired to write the lullaby “Sweetest Thing” when her toddler wouldn't go to sleep. That song led to the creation of the album. The song “Bobby and the Redbird” was inspired by a statue of a cardinal at a hotel in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Logan's father whistles on the album. Frank is reminded of a story his grandfather told about an old Irishman who told his enemy's widow that the dead man whistled well.  This episode is sponsored by BoneZones.com (don't forget the S). Buy books and other merchandise autographed by Body Farm founder Dr. Bill Bass at https://bonezones.com/ including Body Farm t-shirts. Contact BoneZones to hire Frank to give a presentation about Dr. Bass and the Body Farm.  Frank tells Logan about memento mori, a Latin phrase that translates to "remember you must die" and shares some trivia about Abraham Lincoln's funeral procession.  Logan likes to spoof a TV news voice. Frank tells her about Kayla Sullivan, a reporter in Indianapolis who creates comedic videos about her toddler in the style of a breaking news report on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/kaylamariesully/  Frank is amazed at how Logan and others seem to talk in song lyrics and how they are able to compose melodies. He tries to compare songwriting to writing a book or blog post.  Frank struggles to read the music at church and admits to sometimes just moving his lips, like a background actor in a movie. Frank was a background actor twice, once in the movie It's Pat and another time in an episode of Love & War. He would like to add those credits to his IMDB page if he knew how. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3325558/  On her new album, Logan has a duet with Rob Crosby called “Welcome to the World.” She is using the stage name LAMB for the album Love, Mom, which is made for children to enjoy.  Support the Frank & Friends Show by purchasing some of our high-quality merchandise at https://frank-friends-show.creator-spring.com  Sign up for a 30-day trial of Audible Premium Plus and get a free premium selection that's yours to keep.
