Hour 2: Is the Arthur Smith hire another example of the Steelers being afraid of the Steelers moving out of their comfort zone? Poni said he is surprised Eric Bieniemy did not get an interview, given what Mike Tomlin has said about him in the past. And it's pretty clear the Steelers did not cast that wide of a net – how many guys did they actually interview? Falcons inisider D. Orlando Ledbetter from The Atlanta Journal joined the show. He said the Steelers are getting a guy that will put together a good run game. Orlando talked about the distribution issue in Atlanta and why that didn't all fall on Arthur Smith. He said the players were fans of Smith and weren't thrilled when he was fired a few weeks ago. Orlando doesn't think the Steelers will be a top 10 offense, but that's due to the quarterback and not the coordinator. Did the chat with a Falcons insider make us feel any better about Arthur Smith? And will Mike Munchak join him in Pittsburgh? Are you worried that Smith couldn't develop Desmond Ridder when the Steelers seemingly have the same issue with Kenny Pickett?
Poni had a “hot” rumor around the Steelers offensive coordinator search – a package deal of Arthur Smith as the OC and Mike Munchak back as the OL coach. Does that tip the scales in favor of Smith with Munchak included in that deal? The guys love the idea of a mind like Munchak molding the offensive line in its current state.
Hour 2: Our pal Brian Batko from the PG voted for Baker Mayfield for Comeback Player of the Year over Damar Hamlin. Fair or foul? We reacted to Mike Sullivan having interviews with the Raiders and the Saints. How do fans feel about the possible Arthur Smith and Mike Munchak tandem? Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike reacted to the thought of Russell Wilson being a Steelers QB and what he could get on the open market. Mike does think Wilson would take a 1-year deal for the league minimum since the Broncos already owe him a ton. Mike talked about what happened with Wilson in Denver and if he's an attractive free agent. Mike gave an update from his end on the Steelers defensive coordinator search. He isn't sure Kliff Kingsbury is the right fit in Pittsburgh. Mike looked at how the Steelers could go about a very important off-season.
Paul Kuharsky reported on Robby and Rexrode that former Titans coach Mike Munchak would not rule out returning to the team as the OL coach. Cory Curtis from News 2 joins the show for his weekly visit talking latest on the coaching search. Philly Radio talked about Siriani's future and thinks Vrabel could be a good fit.

Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Tony Serino of AFC North Talk. The Pittsburgh Steelers might have a secret weapon on their hands in the form of a solid tight end group. Pat Freiermuth burst onto the scene last year as one of the most promising rookie tight ends of his class, but Zach Gentry has taken significant strides as a No. 2 tight end as well. How much can offensive coordinator Matt Canada work both into an offense around new quarterbacks Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett? And will Heyward be part of the plans as well? Also, a caller asks about the lasting impact of Mike Munchak as an offensive line coach. Chris Carter and Tony Serino review Munchak's work with Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro and the 2010s offensive line stars. What does Pat Meyer need as the Steelers' new offensive line coach to get a strong group from James Daniels, Kevin Dotson, Mason Cole, Chukwuma Okorafor, Dan Moore Jr. and Kendrick Green? Munchak joined us to talk about coaching the offensive line but also got into what his future might still be like in coaching. Could he return to the Steelers? Also talk about the Pirates trade deadline coming up.
Cook & Joe had two great interviews today with Mike Munchak and Jack Ham. Poni broke down the chat with Munchak and is very intrigued by the comments from the former Steelers offensive line coach. He said even if he doesn't want to live in Pittsburgh, the Steelers could make something work. Ham wanted to give his comments on Doug Whaley saying he couldn't' hack it in today's NFL. Ham said he would have adapted and been just find in modern day football. Former Steeler Arthur Moats joined the show. Poni asked Arthur about Michael Vick returning to football in the fan-controlled league. He has no doubt Vick can play in the league. Arthur said if he was offered $1 million by another school after his junior year of college, he would leave in a heartbeat. He said the Jordan Addison situation sucks for Pitt, but unfortunately it's how the game is going. Arthur said NIL is an official thing now, but it's obviously been around for a long time. Poni asked Arthur about the future for Stephon Tuitt if he isn't present at OTAs next week. Even though the workouts are optional, but it would certainly be worrisome. He said players that want to be there will show up to OTAs, referencing players like Ben Roethlisberger and Troy Polamalu. He said the Steelers have to be prepared in case Tuitt doesn't show up. Arthur said he doesn't plan on attending the Antonio Brown concert.

Steelers 17 Rams 12The Steelers suppressed the LA Rams, holding them to 3 points. Unfortunately the offense gave up 9 points en route to a 17-12 victory. How good is this defense really? In this game, it held the Charges to 2 of 10 on 3rd down. Further, it held the Chargers in check, preventing them from passing the 50 yard line on only 5 of 15 possessions.TurnoversThe Steelers have recovered 12 fumbles and 14 interceptions, placing them second in turnovers to the Patriots. In the course of the last decade, we have only exceeded 26 turnover twice IN A FULL SEASON! In 2015 the Steelers had 17 fumble recoveries and 13 INTs (with Mike Mitchell getting 3 INTs). Going back to 2010 Pittsburgh had 21 recoveries and 14 INTs, with Troy Polamalu getting 7 INTs.The Black & Gold are currently #1 in QB pressures and #2 in sacks (33). Speaking of which, Cam Heyward is now the 7th Steeler to have 50 career sacks. He joins an illustrious group: James Harrison, Jason Gildon, Joey Porter, Keith Willis, LaMarr Woodley, Greg Lloyd.Remember the fear we endured each time an opposing QB dropped back to pass? Well we still have to nail down the middle of the field, but the Steelers are containing receivers, ranking #4 in the league in yards after catch.Superstars: TJ Watt (3rd in the league in sacks), Minkah Fitzpatrick (1st in the league in INTs Cam HeywardStars: Javon Hargrave, Bud Dupree, Steven Nelson, Devin BushBeasts: Joe Haden, Vince Williams, Mike “Silver Bullet” Hilton, Cam SuttonTerrell Edmunds had his best game but wow he is borderline hopeless in coverage (can’t get his head around)HEINZ FIELD - incredibly loud / big part of gameThis was Mason Rudolph’s best game yet (but don’t be too excited). He threw a few more balls downfield (not just go-balls). It was his worst completion % of the season (57%), but he was victimized by his own receivers who dropped 5 passes. It was also the most times he was sacked (3); but he’s the least-sacked QB in the league (9).Although he was pretty poised as usual, he had the Same issues with lollipops to middle field and sailing passes over 10yds. Unfortunately, this offense is still totally dink-n-dunk and the coaches don’t trust them to win game (another 3 & out run series instead of icing game in the 4th).The Young WRs Give & Take AwayJames Washington had a great red zone catch for a TD, but also allowed himself to be stripped while on his way to at 50 gain.Diontae Johnson effectively ran his drag routes, pulling in 4 receptions for 64 yards, but dropping a 30 yard pass and fumbling a punt.Juju Smith-Schuster had an early drop, but was able to get 20 yards on a slant catch, and pulled in a first down catch at the sideline on a free play.Jaylen Samuels, ineffective in the ground game, managed a 3rd down drop .There is huge POTENTIAL from this group: Washing is as advertised from preseason; Johnson UNREAL lateral quickness.Mike Tomlin is proving his worthThis is where he is at his best - when team is counted out. He’s an incredible motivator. Unfortunately he offers no schematic advantages (Lebeau & Munchak helped). Credit to him though, for going for it on 4th down from our own 35 with 8 minutes left.Upcoming GamesCould the Browns by a trap game or not? Are the Steelers feeling too good about themselves after this win streak?Upcoming ScheduleSteelers: Browns, Bengals, Brown, Cardinals, Bills, JetsRavens: Texans, Rams, 49rs, Bills Jets
Second hour of the show starts with one of our favorite guests Mark Kaboly hopping on the program. No poop stories for us this week but that's okay we'll settle for some of the best Steelers insight in town. Crowley picks his brain on the departure of Munchak as well as how James Conner has been struggling mightily to start the season. Crowley then has ALL of the stats for you, every single one of them, and what he means by that is he's going to just read some really damning stats about the Steelers from Tim Benz's Breakfast with Benz from this morning. It's then time for the great unsponsored football segment filled with knowledge and fun brought to you by to be determined: Burning Questions Edition.
You've found The Crowley Show and Crowley's got something for all you snowflakes to munch on out there, and it has to do with you're constant clamoring for Mike Munchak. The Offensive line has been dog ass to start the year, and Munchak is a great coach but for the love of God the Steelers 0-3 start and struggles in the running game is not solely on Munch taking off for Denver. In fact, Crowley has a TERRIFYING stat about James Conner that illustrates the O line isn't the only problem with the running game being ass to start the season. Crowley also talks about how this AFC North Blows, and how he's not expecting it to happen, but the Steelers could get right back in this race and 8-8 might just be enough to take this sucky division.

In this episode: Mike Munchak Departs Family is thicker than football. Five years after he arrived to coach the offensive line, Mike Munchak departs for the same position in Denver, having molded the Steelers offensive line into the #1 rated line in the NFL. Shaun Sarrett steps into the role, having served as assistant offensive line coach in 2018. He previously was an offensive assistant with the team from 2012-17, working mainly with the offensive line. Morgan Burnett Ready To Move On Citing his desire to return to his natural position of safety instead of the dime linebacker role he played with the Steelers, Burnett said he would like to be released from his contract. Burnett missed four of the first six games of the season due to injury, recording 30 tackles and six pass deflections in a subpackage role over 11 games. Art Rooney Interview The AR II year-in-review interview was chocked full of his perspectives on 2018 and next year’s season. He pointed to a less-than-stellar kicking game and a negative turnover ratio as the primary factors contributing to a poor outcome in 2018. We talk about AR II’s thoughts on Mike Tomlin, Big Ben, AB and Le’Veon. You’ll also learn how influential the Steelers Outpost is as we discuss the AR II’s thought to have someone assist Mike Tomlin with challenge calls (listen to SOP 74). Circus Maximus We’re still waiting for AB’s Big Interview, but AR II disagrees that the Steelers were in cultural disarray this year, saying "It's nonsense. We didn't achieve our goal of winning the division but we finished half a game out and had a lot of opportunities to get there." In a case of history repeating itself, take a look at Bob Labriola’s piece on the drama of the 1977 season. Oh… and note that he wrote this in the midst of the 2017 season! (All you need to do is change the “7” to an “8” to adjust to the latest drama.) Can AB Catch Jerry? Jerry Rice has given AB a lot of support in the weeks since the falling out between Brown and the Steelers. AB has more than hinted that he’d like traded to the 49rs. Why? Could it be that he has aspirations of overtaking the definitive receiver of the modern era? NFL Network's @RapSheet reported over the weekend that the Broncos are potential suitors for Steelers WR Antonio Brown - Cody and Cameron talk about what that would look like for the Broncos and debate whether or not it would be a good move for the team, and lastly both discuss DEN's pending UFA's and RFA's set to test the Free Agency market in several weeks. Quizzical Decisions About Coaches In this episode Emmanuel Sanders Waxes On AB Manny Sanders was on NFL Game Day week and he had a whole bunch to say about his buddy Antonio Brown. Although he slings a little hypocrisy in there, Sanders does have insight into AB and he doesn't like what he sees. We break this down because it's better than reading all the conjecture from people who have never played the game. Teryl Austin Fresh from an uninspiring stint as the Bengals Defensive Coordinator, Pittsburgh native and Pitt alum, Teryl Austin comes home to serve as the Steelers Senior Defensive Assistant and Secondary coach. Austin has an uneven track record, but has helped three teams get into the Super Bowl (losing to the Steelers 2x), and has worked with some All-Pro defensive backs. Mike Tomlin and Clock Management We continue to lobby for another position coach: Clock Manager. How much could it cost to get an out-of-work Stanford MBA to sit in the box for 16-19 games to review the situation chart in the last two minutes of each half? Why does Mike resist filling in this glaring gap in the coaching corps? Steeler Nation collectively breathed a sigh of relief yesterday when the Denver Broncos named Vic Fangio as their Head Coach, which meant Offensive Line Coach Mike Munchak would remain in Pittsburgh. Mark Kaboly of the Athletic analyzes Munchak's impact on the line and the offense as a whole, and discusses other off-season moves the Steelers might make.

Crowley was going to kickoff the show taking down the notion of coaches in waiting and keeping Munchak because he MIGHT be a good coach. But then Jeremy Fowler reported it's likely Keith Butler will be back next year so he gets ticked off about that before munching down on Munchak. He then calls for the Steelers to take a note from the Penguins playbook, and hire a damn replay guy that sits in the booth and tells you when to challenge. We then discuss the NFLs investigation of Eric Reid pee tests, but we dance around this very serious topic and mainly just talk about pee tests.
Tim Benz joins the show to start the final hour. He gives his takes on Munchak being the next coach of the Steelers, as well as discussing some of the other turmoil surrounding the team. Crowley tells you why he's not so much of a fan of the coach in waiting. We have one of the highest brow segments in our shows history, talking about how farts are always funny. Hottest take of the day, other crap, and the three stars of the show.

Eric and Les chat with Ryan O'Halloran from the Denver Post on the Broncos coaching situation and who is the favorite between Fangio and Munchak.
Eric and Les chat about who the next Broncos head coach will be. Who is the next McVay? Munchak vs Fangio
Munchak or Fangio? What about McDaniels? Who will be head coach?
As Alfred Hitchcock once said, "What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out?" And certainly with Antonio Brown there is never a dull moment, which was reinforced by Jesse James who said "Ah man, we are — Kardashians.” The thought that Pittsburgh, a town with its share of troubles and one that has shown resilience in the face of adversity, has a wide receiver who just got a 4-year, $68 million pay day makes you wonder why AB's not getting more heat than he is. We talk about the prospects of seeing AB in 2019 and what it does to our prospects if the Steelers have had enough of him. Change is in the air with the ousting of Joey Porter. Who's next? And - is the architect of the most effective unit on the team, the offensive line, Mike Munchack promoting himself to a new team next year?
