Luke Jones and Nestor discuss the Ravens' glaring pass rush needs and how the NFL trade deadline has evolved and helped teams patch roster holes. The post Luke Jones and Nestor discuss Ravens pass rush needs and NFL trading deadline first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.
Clearly, the Baltimore Ravens didn't expect to be a 5-3 team on Halloween with hideous losses to the Raiders and Browns on the mid-season report card. Luke Jones and Nestor discuss the Ravens' deficiencies and pass rush needs after a wretched Cleveland loss as trading deadline looms for general manager Eric DeCosta. The post Luke and Nestor discuss Ravens deficiencies and pass rush needs after Cleveland loss as trading deadline looms for DeCosta first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.
The NFL's trade deadline is fast approaching and several team are expected to be wheeling and dealing. Will the Packers be one of them? Veteran sports reporters Gery Woelfel and Rob Reischel explore the Packers options and agree the Packers could shore up a couple of positions. Woelfel and Reischel also talked about the Packers' huge, upcoming game against the Lions and what the Packers need to do to slow down the high-powered Lions offense.
Recording at the point the Chicago American League Baseball Team had lost 17 straight games, duty geezer Leigh Allan and his son and west coast correspondent, Will, hazarded guesses as to how long the streak might last and whether the league or major league records are truly in jeopardy. But enough of the enjoyable part — they also do the mandatory review of the trading deadline bit, amazed as everyone else at how little Chris Getz managed to acquire for what he gave up, while acknowledging a lack of expertise about 18-year-old middle infielders in very low minor leagues. Having a few post-deadline games to view, they note how every player traded by the Sox has started out very well with his new team, while the only new player in a Sox uniform has fit right in by stinking. But wee, teeny sample size and all that. There's a tad bit of rant about control freak Jerry Reinsdorf, which is always fun. If you love diatribe, though, hang around for what they have to say about Garrett Crochet and his ridiculous and arrogant comments, from attempted extortion before the deadline to brain-dead claims afterward that what he threatened had no impact on possible trades. Were they once Crochet fans? Of course. Are they still? Well, er, uh ... Send us a Text Message. We thought we could do all 30 teams in 30 minutes but it took longer despite how fast we talked. Most teams were in the middle but there were winners and there were losers and we called them out. No top 100 prospects were traded. No big names were traded. The whole thing was a big dud! Send us a Text Message.Players have been traded but we didn't really talk about that. Dylan Cease pitched a no-hitter for the #Padres & is on an amazing run. #Mets Kodai Senga pitched so well in his return from a shoulder injury. He then went down for the season with a calf inju/ry. So Mets. Some teams have been positioning themselves by removing salaries so they can perhaps acquire an expensive player. But will there be the BIG deal that so many baseball fans want to hear about? Intro & Outro music this season courtesy of Mercury Maid! Check them out on Spotify or Apple Music! Send us a Text Message.Manager Jim Leyland, along with all-time greats Adrian Beltre, Todd Helton, and Joe Mauer all were officially inducted into Cooperstown this past Sunday. All 4 made heartfelt and good speeches. It's always great to see the amount of HOFers that show up on a hot July afternoon to sit outside in a jacket and tie to show their respect for the newest inductees. Helton and Mauer played their entire careers for one team only - the Rockies and Twins respectively. Beltre came up at 19 with the Dodgers but saw great years in Seattle and Texas with a quick one year stop in Boston. Beltre resides in the same stratosphere with Mike Schmidt and Brooks Robinson as overall great 3rd basemen. Intro & Outro music this season courtesy of Mercury Maid! Covering the business of sports and moonlighting in two rock and roll tribute bands, we only track down Maury Brown of Forbes when we're ready to get serious about baseball and money. Rocking the trading deadline like a hurricane without a holiday and letting the money talk. @BizBallMaury
With the Baltimore Orioles in a prime position to make a World Series run in the fall, Luke Jones and Nestor discuss the ideology of Mike Elias and new ownership in regard to making moves for key prospects as well as veteran pitching as the MLB trading deadline looms.
Send us a Text Message. At least we got to see Paul Skenes pitch to Aaron Judge. It lasted all of one pitch however. The All-Star Game lost its juice years ago. Mark suggested counting All-Star stats in career totals. For whatever that would be worth. To add to that there are no longer Thursday games post All-Star break so four full days without real baseball that counts is awful! What's remaining in the 2024 season is essentially a pandemic-legnth season around 60 games. Too many to determine a team's fate, too few not to pay attention. The MLB trading deadline is July 30th and the next 10 days may shake up the baseball world - at least a bit. But the action may not occur until right at the deadline as too many teams have a chance. Particularly in the National League where only 2 teams (Marlins and Rockies) are truly out of the running. MLB also dropped the 2025 schedule which includes a season-starting series between the Dodgers and Cubs in Japan. Shohei Othani vs. Shota Imanaga is a pretty juicy prospect! Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
If there was any doubt, the San Francisco Giants put those doubts to rest. With four wins in their last five games, the SF Giants have cemented themselves as clear buyers ahead of Tuesday's 3 PM PT trading deadline. The Giants have certainly shown their imperfections in recent weeks, but they're still only two games out of first place, they're the top wild card team in the NL, and they're 10 games over .500. So... what must the Giants accomplish by tomorrow's deadline? The San Francisco Giants look like a team that needs another starting pitcher. Right now, the Giants only have Logan Webb and Alex Cobb as clear starters. The Giants have many "bulk guys" such as Alex Wood, Sean Manaea, Ross Stripling, and Tristan Beck, but another clear-cut starter could go a long way. Eduardo Rodriguez and Justin Verlander stand out as the best fits remaining. The SF Giants could also use a versatile hitter. Tommy Edman stands out as a great fit because he can play short, second, third, and all three outfield positions. But the Cardinals may not very well not trade him. Versatility should be important in an addition because the Giants have some of these positions dedicated to players who will eventually return from the IL, such as Thairo Estrada (who's close to a rehab assignment) and Mitch Haniger (who says he might be ready well before the original estimate of early September).Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:
