Ed says he was surprised by the Vince Williams signing because he has never seen a player get cut, agree to a pay cut and then retire before the season. Ed points out that Vince's tweets over the last couple of weeks look like clues now. Ed thinks the backup quarterback position will go to Mason because they gave him a contract and he doesn't see anybody beating him out during training camp. Ed also doesn't buy into the idea that just because the Steelers brought in Dwayne Haskins that he's guaranteed to make the team. Ed calls it only 50/50 that TJ Watt gets his mega deal before the season starts, citing a hesitation to pay a player $30 million per year. He's even more skeptical of them paying Minkah. Ed tells us where the Steelers policy of not negotiating contracts after training camp came from. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
