Not long ago, in two regular-season meetings and one postseason matchup, the Tennessee Titans looked every bit the equal of the Kansas City Chiefs, or as close to it as any NFL team. Now, like every other franchise, the Titans are looking up at the Chiefs, winners of three of the last five Super Bowls, and trying to figure out how to match up. ... A look back at Sunday's Super Bowl LVIII, how Kansas City won and the challenge of dealing with the combination of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid. ... The big game, of course, stirred memories of the Titans' lone Super Bowl appearance, and Denard Walker recalled a meaningful show of support from then-coach Jeff Fisher following that defeat against the St. Louis Rams. ... Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson invoked General George Patton when asked about how he will run that unit under coach Brian Callahan. It is an approach that should excite the players in the system and should look familiar to long-time Tians fans given its ties for former Titans coach Jeff Fisher and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. ... Offensive coordinator Nock Holz sais he expects "speed, detail and execution" from his unit. One of those things currently is in short supply with that unit. ... The position coaches include two have been Titans assistants, previously. Tracy Rocker (defensive line) and Frank Bush (linebackers) filled those same roles under Mike Munchak, who was head coach from 2011-13.

Hour 3: We reacted to the chat with Mike Florio, especially the part about Ryan Tannehill being the favorite to start if the Steelers signed him. What does Kenny Pickett have to do next season to give this organization hope into the future with him? What do his numbers have to look like and what would the record have to be? Poni puts Pickett at an 85% chance of being the starter in Week 1. Aditi Kinkhabwala from the NFL on CBS joined the show. Aditi reacted to the Steelers hiring Arthur Smith as the offensive coordinator. She thinks this fits the Steelers and their mold because Mike Tomlin has done well with guys like Todd Haley and Mike Munchak, so we don't have to freak out because it's not an up-and-coming young mind. Aditi looked at the last two stops for Smith – why things worked in Tennessee, but didn't in Atlanta. She talked about the injuries that held up the Falcons offense last season. She preached about Smith being a coach that likes to hold players accountable. Donny Football Debrief – I find the Senior Bowl practices more interesting than anything happening at the Pro Bowl this weekend. Is that weird?

She preached about Smith being a coach that likes to hold players accountable.
Hour 2: Is the Arthur Smith hire another example of the Steelers being afraid of the Steelers moving out of their comfort zone? Poni said he is surprised Eric Bieniemy did not get an interview, given what Mike Tomlin has said about him in the past. And it's pretty clear the Steelers did not cast that wide of a net – how many guys did they actually interview? Falcons inisider D. Orlando Ledbetter from The Atlanta Journal joined the show. He said the Steelers are getting a guy that will put together a good run game. Orlando talked about the distribution issue in Atlanta and why that didn't all fall on Arthur Smith. He said the players were fans of Smith and weren't thrilled when he was fired a few weeks ago. Orlando doesn't think the Steelers will be a top 10 offense, but that's due to the quarterback and not the coordinator. Did the chat with a Falcons insider make us feel any better about Arthur Smith? And will Mike Munchak join him in Pittsburgh? Are you worried that Smith couldn't develop Desmond Ridder when the Steelers seemingly have the same issue with Kenny Pickett?
The Tennessee Titans hired Brian Callahan as the head coach, but now they need to assemble the best coaching staff possible and there are particular candidates they must focus on. On offense, the Titans have requested two interviews for offensive coordinators and Eric Studesville from the Miami Dolphins is the perfect choice. On Defense, the Titans have requested Dennard Wilson from the Baltimore Ravens and he has an excellent track record that pairs perfect with Callahan. Finally, if Brian cannot recruit his father Bill Callahan to coach the offensive line, a former Tennessee Titans in Mike Munchak could be a perfect substitute for Brian's father. Mark Kaboly of The Athletic joined the show. Mark thinks Zac Robinson isn't the most likely candidate to take the job and will have many different options to become a coordinator. Arthur Smith intrigues Kaboly and is on the short list. The former Falcons coach is tied to Mike Munchak, according to Poni. Mark thinks it's 50/50 that Mason Rudolph will return next season. The Steelers can get under the cap number at a pretty steady rate. Joe pitches potential options at offensive coordinator including Luke Getsy, Kliff Kingsbury, and others. Mark thinks Najee Harris' fifth year option will be picked up and eventually an extension will get done for Pat Freiermuth. He could probably come back on a cheap deal. Mark thinks the Steelers won't ask Cam Heyward to take a pay cut and instead will get an extension. Art Rooney values their legendary players and keeps them around as long as they can.
Poni had a “hot” rumor around the Steelers offensive coordinator search – a package deal of Arthur Smith as the OC and Mike Munchak back as the OL coach. Does that tip the scales in favor of Smith with Munchak included in that deal? The guys love the idea of a mind like Munchak molding the offensive line in its current state.
Hour 2: Our pal Brian Batko from the PG voted for Baker Mayfield for Comeback Player of the Year over Damar Hamlin. Fair or foul? We reacted to Mike Sullivan having interviews with the Raiders and the Saints. Does that tip the scales in favor of Smith with Munchak included in that deal? The guys love the idea of a mind like Munchak molding the offensive line in its current state. How do fans feel about the possible Arthur Smith and Mike Munchak tandem? Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike reacted to the thought of Russell Wilson being a Steelers QB and what he could get on the open market. Mike does think Wilson would take a 1-year deal for the league minimum since the Broncos already owe him a ton. Mike talked about what happened with Wilson in Denver and if he's an attractive free agent. Mike gave an update from his end on the Steelers defensive coordinator search. He isn't sure Kliff Kingsbury is the right fit in Pittsburgh. Mike looked at how the Steelers could go about a very important off-season.
January 24, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 81 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes five more players being signed to Reserve/Future contracts on Tuesday. There is some news and speculation related to movements revolving around members of the Steelers coaching staff that we pass along early in this show as well. Zac Robinson and Kliff Kingsbury seem to be two early candidates to be the Steelers' new offensive coordinator, according to reports these last few days, so Alex and I discuss them both in-depth. We also quickly discuss the latest news concerning former Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak. Alex has now released his first 2024 NFL Draft player profile, so we discuss Missouri DL Darius Robinson with him scheduled to be present at this year's Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL. The Steelers 2024 cornerback room currently looks thin overall when it comes to players under contract in late January, so Alex and I talk about that topic later in this show. We discuss the top potential cornerback unrestricted free agents this offseason and if the Steelers might target any of them. We also discuss the possibility of the Steelers addressing the cornerback position once or twice in the 2024 NFL Draft. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 99-minute episode, and we end it by answering several questions sent in from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Paul Kuharsky reported on Robby and Rexrode that former Titans coach Mike Munchak would not rule out returning to the team as the OL coach. Cory Curtis from News 2 joins the show for his weekly visit talking latest on the coaching search. Philly Radio talked about Siriani's future and thinks Vrabel could be a good fit.
May 29, 2023 - Season 13, Episode 136 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the recent comments made by former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell during his 'Steel Here' appearance. Bell gave us quite a bit to chew on during that interview, so we go through all the main talking points. We also discuss the possibility of him retiring as a member of the Steelers down the road. The Steelers will reportedly look at another long snapper this coming week, so Alex and I discuss that news. We also talk about who has the best shot at being the Steelers returner in 2023 with wide receiver Calvin Austin III seemingly back healthy again. Former Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak wants to return to the NFL coaching circles in 2024 so Alex and I make sure to address that topic in this show. Might he land back in Pittsburgh? Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett had his vehicle stolen last week so we spend a few minutes discussing that news during this show as well. Later in the show, Alex and I answer a few questions we have received from listeners over the last several days. We mix in other Steelers talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post.

In my latest Broncos' podcast presented by SuperBook Sports, I discuss which undrafted free agents have the best chance to make the roster. And two-time Pro Bowl tackle Brad Hopkins joins the show, discussing coach Sean Payton, Russell Wilson's fit on and off the field and what it was like playing for Mike Munchak. My pod is made possible by the great folks at Mile High Sports and Hoggatt Injury Law.
Former Steeler Kelvin Beachum joined the show. Kelvin talked about when he was drafted by the Steelers in the 7th round – referring to himself as “7D” because he was the team's fourth option in that round. Kelvin talked about how important Mike Munchak was to his success in the league. Kelvin gave a shout out to Maurkice Pouncey and said he still stays in touch with the former center. He got into the X's and O's that Mike Tomlin helped him with on the defensive side to make him more effective up front. Kelvin is a free agent and could see himself back in Pittsburgh if the fit is right. He talked about his early years here and how much he loves the community.
Poni lit a fire that has spread around on a national level regarding what happened between Mitch Trubisky and Diontae Johnson in the early season loss to the Jets. Poni set the record straight and wanted to offer an apology to Johnson. Former Steeler Kelvin Beachum joined the show. Aditi was faced with the tough question regarding the Steelers offensive line. Could it possibly be worse than last year? She struggled to say a positive thing about that unit. She said she wishes Mike Munchak never left. She talked about lineman having a bit of nastiness in them and referenced Maurkice Pouncey and David DeCastro, who led the offensive line for nearly a decade.
HOF left tackle Tony Boselli joined the show. Tony was at the game Saturday night as a former Jaguars offensive lineman. To put it lightly, Tony said the Steelers offensive line struggled against Jacksonville. He highlighted Dan Moore Jr. struggling in one-on-one action with Josh Allen. He said the Steelers QBs were getting “harassed” for the entire first half and most of the game. He said technique is a change the Steelers can make up front that goes a long, long way. He said there is an unfair battle with playing on the offensive line because you are almost always facing superior athletes, but technique can be the great equalizer. He said offensive line coach is the most important hire for any head coach. Unfortunately, besides the Mike Munchak era, it doesn't appear like that coaching position has been taken very seriously. He said center is the point of communication and some guys aren't quite built to be a master of communicating along with the skills needed to play the position. He said the lack of reps through camp makes it hard for the guys to look good as a unit right off the bat. Tony had high praise for Kenny Pickett from Saturday night and was very impressed by the 2-minute drill before halftime. He said Pickett is probably the best quarterback on the roster and said it should be the best guy regardless of age or experience level. He doesn't like the argument of throwing a QB into the fire too early, he said “you're good or you're not.” He really likes the quick decision making from Pickett early on.
The Steelers offensive line looked brutally bad on Saturday night. How dire is that unit? They have so little talent up front and have become too bull-headed to create a disaster. Chris referenced the 2016 offensive line, which featured Maurkice Pouncey (1st round pick), David DeCastro (1st round pick) and Marcus Gilbert (2nd round pick), and wondered why the Steelers have gone away from that formula? We heard an answer from Kendrick Green, who said he hasn't done anything to win the left guard battle against Kevin Dotson. The guys agreed that Dotson needs to be the man at left guard by week one. There is severe worry for James Daniels, who was supposed to be the leader of this group. HOF left tackle Tony Boselli joined the show. White Hot PIT-JAX takes review.
Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Tony Serino of AFC North Talk. The Pittsburgh Steelers might have a secret weapon on their hands in the form of a solid tight end group. How much can offensive coordinator Matt Canada work both into an offense around new quarterbacks Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett? And will Heyward be part of the plans as well? Also, a caller asks about the lasting impact of Mike Munchak as an offensive line coach. Chris Carter and Tony Serino review Munchak's work with Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro and the 2010s offensive line stars. Munchak joined us to talk about coaching the offensive line but also got into what his future might still be like in coaching. Could he return to the Steelers? Also talk about the Pirates trade deadline coming up.
Cook & Joe had two great interviews today with Mike Munchak and Jack Ham. Poni broke down the chat with Munchak and is very intrigued by the comments from the former Steelers offensive line coach. He said even if he doesn't want to live in Pittsburgh, the Steelers could make something work. Ham wanted to give his comments on Doug Whaley saying he couldn't' hack it in today's NFL. Ham said he would have adapted and been just find in modern day football. Former Steeler Arthur Moats joined the show. Poni asked Arthur about Michael Vick returning to football in the fan-controlled league. He has no doubt Vick can play in the league. Arthur said if he was offered $1 million by another school after his junior year of college, he would leave in a heartbeat. He said the Jordan Addison situation sucks for Pitt, but unfortunately it's how the game is going. Arthur said NIL is an official thing now, but it's obviously been around for a long time. Poni asked Arthur about the future for Stephon Tuitt if he isn't present at OTAs next week. Even though the workouts are optional, but it would certainly be worrisome. He said players that want to be there will show up to OTAs, referencing players like Ben Roethlisberger and Troy Polamalu. He said the Steelers have to be prepared in case Tuitt doesn't show up. Arthur said he doesn't plan on attending the Antonio Brown concert.
Coach Munchak joins us to talk about coaching the offensive line, the Joe Moore Camp and what his future in coaching looks like.

You've found The Crowley Show and Crowley's got something for all you snowflakes to munch on out there, and it has to do with you're constant clamoring for Mike Munchak. The Offensive line has been dog ass to start the year, and Munchak is a great coach but for the love of God the Steelers 0-3 start and struggles in the running game is not solely on Munch taking off for Denver. In fact, Crowley has a TERRIFYING stat about James Conner that illustrates the O line isn't the only problem with the running game being ass to start the season. Crowley also talks about how this AFC North Blows, and how he's not expecting it to happen, but the Steelers could get right back in this race and 8-8 might just be enough to take this sucky division.
