This week on It Was a Thing on TV we get ready for Super Sunday. First in Episode 451, in a similar spirit to The Flintstones and The Jetsons, Hanna/Barbera created a cartoon about the work and home lives of a family. This time, as you'd expect this week, the husband was a quarterback on a football team. Where's Huddles? aired in Summer 1970, then in non-primetime reruns the following year. Then in Minisode 30, before two victories in "The Big Game", before almost all of his Pro Bowl nominations, and before his current squeeze (you know who), Travis Kelce looked for love on a reality program. Catching Kelce didn't catch on with viewers and neither did Kelce's catch on the series. What would Taylor say? Finally in Episode 452, the 2000 edition of "Super Sunday" pitted the St. Louis Rams and the Tennessee Titans in the first Super Bowl of the new millennium. TV viewers were treated in-between action with commercials for Budweiser, trucks, and many dot-com companies! Most of which came and went less than a year following the game. We'll go over some of them in this episode. It is Super Bowl week, and Denard Walker reflects on how he navigated the myriad media responsibilities he and the rest of the Tennessee Titans faced ahead of their meeting with the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV. ... The prevailing wisdom among this panel is that the Kansas City Chiefs look like the team to beat this week because of A) the continued greatness of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and B) a better defense than they have had in other recent championship seasons. ... The Titans' new offensive coordinator Nick Holz, who does not have a lengthy professional résumé but who goes back a long way with coach Brian Callahan -- all the way to high school, in fact. ... Holz won't be the play-caller on offense, but his history suggests he can make a significant impact even if he does not perform high-profile duties. ... One reported member of the new coaching staff is former Titants defense back Steve Jackson, who was an important -- if not omnipresent -- member of the franchise's 1999 Super Bowl team. Like Holz, Jackson has some personal history with Callahan, albeit their connection only goes back a few years when they were assistant coaches with the Cincinnati Bengals. ... Former Titans coach Mike Vrabel still has not found a job, and one report in recent days offers a bizarre and tough-to-believe reason for why that is. As of now, it seems that Vrabel will end up with -- in some capacity -- his best friend as a part of a high-profile college football program.

THE KELLY CARDENAS PODCAST PRESENTS Eddie George was announced as the 22nd head football coach at Tennessee State University on April 13, 2021. "I am excited about being named head coach at Tennessee State University," said George. “All I have done has prepared me for this moment, whether that's my football career, my entrepreneurial endeavors, my acting career. Coaching is a full commitment, a duty of service. I take that seriously. I've done a lot of soul searching and due diligence. The more I thought about it, I got more and more excited about it. It was like picking up an old guitar or getting back on a bike, it's familiar but in a different capacity. It's exciting. I'm going to be innovative, creative and fun." George played college football for Ohio State University and won the Heisman in 1995. That season, George rushed for a school record 1,927 yards and 24 touchdowns, an average of 148.23 yards per game, while also catching 47 passes for 417 yards and another score. He left Ohio State second in school history in career rushing yards (3,768) and third in rushing touchdowns (44). The Philadelphia native finished with 4,284 all-purpose yards, 45 touchdowns, and a 5.5 yards-per-carry average. In 1996, George was the first-round draft selection of the then-Houston Oilers. He won the NFL Rookie of the Year award that season, and was the Oilers/Titans' starting tailback through 2003, never missing a start. He made the Pro Bowl four consecutive years (1997–2000), and assisted the Titans to a championship appearance in Super Bowl XXXIV. George is only the second NFL running back to rush for 10,000 yards while never missing a start, joining Jim Brown. Only Walter Payton (170) started more consecutive regular season games than George's 130. In 2004, George signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys where he started eight games and finished the season with 432 yards and four touchdowns. He officially retired in 2006. George's career totals include 10,441 rushing yards, 268 receptions, 2,227 receiving yards, and 78 touchdowns (68 rushing and 10 receiving). George was inducted in the College Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and a board member of Music City Baseball. A native of Philadelphia, George graduated from Ohio State in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture. He later earned an MBA from Northwestern in 2009. He is married to Tamara “Taj” George and they have two sons, Eriq and Jaire. Thank you for rocking with the podcast. Former Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback, Trent Green joins us for Episode 33 of The PRP! We were limited to about an hour with Trent so we tried to pack in as much as we possibly could. Trent was drafted in the 8th Round in 1993 Draft to the San Diego Chargers and cut after one year. Shortly after that, he joined the Canadian Football League with the BC Lions in 1994 and was later cut again after one year. He gets another shot in the NFL with the Washington Redskins (now known as the "Commanders") and outside of one pass thrown in 1997, he would not see NFL action until 1998. It was 1999 when he signs with the St. Louis Rams to be the starter, but suffered a gruesome season-ending knee injury in a preseason game on a hit by Rodney Harrison of the Chargers. Unheralded backup Kurt Warner took over for Green, and led the Rams to a 13–3 season, culminating in a dramatic 23–16 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV. Trent would land in Kansas City for the 2001 season and would spend a total of 6 season with the Chiefs. In 2006, he suffers a serious concussion in the 3rd Quarter of the first game of the year against the Cincinnati Bengals and would remain out until mid November. It was the next year in 2007, Trent played for the Miami Dolphins where in early October he suffered another serious concussion. In this episode we discuss the "Trials & Triumphs" during those 15 years in the NFL. He shares a lot of insight about the NFL as a business and his experience to overcome obstacles. We learn about his relationships with Hall of Famers, Dick Vermeil and Kurt Warner. And he shares how he got into broadcasting, where he is currently teamed with Kevin Harlan for NFL Games on CBS. There is no doubt that Trent is a person of high-character and it was not only informative, but also very enjoyable to talk to him. Watch this episode on Spotify or YouTube. Many early use cases of a technology in hindsight look pretty silly. In 2000, Seventeen "dot coms" spent millions on ads for Super Bowl XXXIV - more web-based companies than have booked ads in the intervening twenty years. Similarly with "blockchain" which I take a delightful hour to kick around with my guest Professor Michael Mainelli, Chairman of @ZYenGroup . Whenever a tech term becomes marketing faerie dust, look out! #Blockchain and #BTC (which some call #Bitcoin) come under our strict scrutiny. We touch on #CHECKSUM, the accurate and less sexy version of a #hash. If blockchain is not boring, you're doing it wrong! The era of clever techies selling NFTs of monkeys on a sailboat to people for $75,000 is over, but that does not mean that real world NFT uses are not coming to a global market near you. Also, Michael was kind of enough to spruik our Host's upcoming appearance on the City of London's FS Club webinar series: https://fsclub.zyen.com/ webinar series on 15 February. We'll be discussing how an innovative #RareEarths mine in #Greenland is deploying commercial sales contracts on the blockchain in an #NFT structure. Sign up for the webinar here: https://fsclub.zyen.com/events/forthcoming-events/how-to-nft-a-greenland-rare-earths-mine/ to dive even more deeply into how real adults will be using NFTs for real asset management. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/messytimes/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/messytimes/support

Today's guest on the Mushroom Society Series on the Coach and Coordinator Podcast is with retired NFL Coach Al Saunders. Coach Saunders began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at USC under John McKay from 1970–71 and served as receivers coach for the University of Missouri's Fiesta Bowl team in 1972. Saunders spent 1973 through 1975 as a play-caller and offensive backfield coach at Utah State. He then spent six seasons as assistant head coach/offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at the University of California. He guided the Golden Bears to set 32 NCAA, conference, and school records and finished each season ranked in the top ten in the nation in passing. His final collegiate stop was in 1982 as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach under Johnny Majors at the University of Tennessee where he built an explosive, record-setting offense. His first NFL head coaching position came with the San Diego Chargers as interim head coach in 1986 following the resignation of Don Coryell. He spent two full seasons as the Chargers' head coach after previously working as receivers coach in 1983-84 and assistant head coach in 1985-86 for what was one of the most prolific offenses in the history of modern football. In 1985, San Diego's "Air Coryell" led the NFL in passing and total offense for an unprecedented fifth time in six years. From 1989 until 1998, Saunders was with the Kansas City Chiefs. Saunders worked for 10 winning seasons under the highly respected head coach Marty Schottenheimer again as a part of a top-performing offense. Saunders joined the St. Louis Rams coaching staff under the legendary Dick Vermeil. Serving as associate head coach and receivers coach with the Rams (1999-2000), he helped create one of the most dynamic and explosive offenses that the NFL had ever seen, and eventually helped lead the Rams to a Super Bowl XXXIV victory. Leading the NFL in virtually every significant offensive category, "The Greatest Show on Turf" established numerous NFL records for scoring and offensive production. When Vermeil came out of retirement in 2001, Saunders reunited with his old mentor and former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, as the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator until Vermeil's final retirement in 2006. Under Saunders' direction as coordinator, the Chiefs offense was the most productive unit in the entire NFL during that 5-year span. 46 franchise records for offense production were established and no team scored more points (2,175), gained more yards (30,470), or scored more touchdowns (262) during that time. Coach Saunders was ranked as the #1 Offensive Coordinator in the past 25 years in the NFL by ESPN and in 2005, and was named USA Today's Offensive Coach of the Year. Coach Saunders finished out his career as an assistant with Redskins, Rams, Ravens, Raiders, Dolphins, and retired after his stint with the Cleveland Browns Shownotes: -Start with John McKay -Being organized -Don't tell - Teach -Treat everyone as a number one draft choice -The job of a coach is to make all players the best they can be -You can't teach experience -Create an environment people enjoy being in -Take the positive environment and enthusiasm to the field -How the best approach the game -Dealing with your coaches -Developing a top offense -Don't ask players to do what they can't do -Protecting the QB Link to all Mushroom Society Episodes and COOL Clinic Speakers: https://soundcloud.com/user-804678956/sets/the-c-o-o-l-clinic-speakers Learn from COOL Clinic Coaches: https://coachtube.com/coolclinic

Guests: Gary Paben & Zack Paben On October 17th 2019, Ammar was sitting in the main Ithra stage during rehearsals for the Tanweer event that he was participating in. Suddenly one of the speakers (Zack Paben) sat next to him, he looked at Ammar's laptop's wallpaper which had a picture of Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog which ammar keeps as motivation, he looks up to Jim. Zack told Ammar “Hey, I met Jim Henson”. Zack's Father Mr. Gary Paben was leading one of the last projects Jim Henson worked on with Disney before his death (Muppet Vision 3D), in fact Jim passed away mid project, and in one of the meeting where Zack was with his father on a “bring your kids to work day” he met Jim. So on November 2nd 2019, Ammar traveled to North Carolina to visit the Paben family and record today's episode and know more about that encounter among other things. Gary Paben is a creative director and writer who also taught theater at Meramec in the 1970s and went on to have a 30 year stint with Disney. He took a leave from Disney during his career to be the Vice President of Entertainment at Madison Square Garden. Paben knows about staging big events. His credits include the halftime show at the 2000 Super Bowl XXXIV and the Millennium Parade at Disney's Epcot Center. Zack is the co-founder and CEO of the More Heart Than Scars Foundation, who empower people to say in the affirmative,”I have more heart than scars,” or to be able to receive the affirmation, “You have more heart than scars.” They have seen the transformative power of those words. More Hearts than Scars Foundation's mission is to quest for faith, love, hope, and heart in order to transcend visible and invisible scars, by overcoming obstacles together, and encouraging others to live so boldly. Since 1991, Zack has been empowering adolescents and adults as a mental health/recovery professional in a variety of modalities, including wilderness and residential. As he continues to face his own visible and invisible scars, he innately has to acknowledge the wounds of others and encourage them in their own healing process.
