This episode of FamilyLife Today features a deeply personal and insightful conversation with Jennifer and Allen Parr, centered on the concept of redefining success for women, embracing God-given influence, and the power of softness without weakness. Hosted by Dave and Ann Wilson at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) event, the conversation takes place in a relaxed, makeshift studio, giving it an authentic, heartfelt tone.Jennifer Parr shares her emotional journey of stepping away from a high-achieving corporate role—her dream job at her dream company—to fully embrace her role as a present wife and mother. She candidly discusses the identity struggle and internal wrestling that came with surrendering a position she had worked hard to attain. With two young children and a growing ministry alongside Allen, Jennifer felt a divine calling to shift her focus from corporate success to family and faith-driven influence.Throughout the discussion, Jennifer highlights how women are inherently created with a softness and tenderness that is not synonymous with weakness. Instead, it's a quiet strength—a powerful form of influence that doesn't demand the spotlight but transforms every space it enters. The Parrs discuss how stepping into that softness, rather than bristling at it, has allowed Jennifer to thrive personally and within their marriage and ministry.Allen supports Jennifer's journey, noting how her stepping back not only brought more peace to their home but also improved her overall well-being, including healing from insomnia and anxiety. The couple explains the importance of shared decision-making, heart posture, and recognizing each person's capacity in different seasons of life. The conversation also dives into the struggles women face when they feel the need to "do it all", often out of fear, control, or past trauma. Jennifer openly acknowledges how fear rooted in “what ifs” about her husband's potential absence or failure to provide drove her initial resistance to leaving her job. The panel reflects on how fear, pride, and anxiety can distort our understanding of roles within marriage and family life. The tone turns humorous and vulnerable as Dave and Ann share a story from their past—complete with corded phones, hotel mishaps, and a memorable line from Dave telling Ann to "cut it off"—illustrating the all-too-relatable dynamic of a wife jumping in to "fix" what she perceives her husband can't handle. The episode wraps with a discussion on healthy communication in marriage, including when to speak, when to stay silent, and how to approach difficult conversations with humility and prayer. Jennifer emphasizes that surrender-driven success—rooted in trusting God—is more fulfilling than any worldly achievement. Michele Bachmann has long been a friend of The Fellowship—serving on the Board—and of Israel. But what many might not know is that this American and Christian supporter of Israel also once lived in the Holy Land. That's right, after graduating high school, Michele spent time living and working on a kibbutz in the Holy Land. Kibbutz Be'eri, where a young Michele lived, came to the world's attention in the days following the Hamas attacks of October 7, as it was the community hit hardest along the Gaza border.Michele stopped by The Fellowship's stage at this year's National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention to speak with Bishop Paul Lanier about her time spent living in Israel, how that shaped her faith and her lifework, how that community faced the terror of 10/7, and what Christians like her are doing to stand for Israel today.Join us for this conversation between two Christian friends of Israel, as they discuss the Holy Land of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. For more information on today's episode visit mybiblicalroots.org.And listen to Yael Eckstein and Bishop Lanier on The Chosen People.
After returning from a fruitful week at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) conference, Karl and Crew started the new month by discussing the importance of being spiritually engaged in the church. As followers of Christ, we are called to be more than bodies that show up once a week. This time of shared fellowship, worship, and teaching is to be spiritually intentional. Do you go to church to be the church or to show up? We also had a special guest, R. York Moore, share some insight on ways church leaders can make service more spiritually engaging. R. York is a speaker, revivalist, and abolitionist. R. York is also the President, CEO, and National Evangelist for the interdenominational college ministry, Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO). He has also authored several books, including “Do Something Beautiful: The Story of Everything and a Guide to Finding Your Place In It.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Troy Miller, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). This was a special 2024 election program titled "America at a Crossroads." The timely conversation with Troy Miller on America's Roundtable focuses on the significance for Christians to vote in US elections in preserving freedom of speech and religious freedom. The conversation brings to the forefront the court case against the "Johnson Amendment", and the crucial role of the faith community in engaging in key public policy issues impacting families and their local communities. A recent study released by Arizona Christian University, led by Dr. George Barna, indicates that 32 million regular Christian church attenders are unlikely to vote this election. While this major voting block upholds Judeo-Christian values and principles, the study reveals apathy among Christian voters could be a "gamechanger" this election, according to Barna. Mr. Miller also shares about his recent visit to Israel and the tragedy of the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group murdering 1200 individuals and taking 250 hostages on October 7, 2023. Miller speaks about the importance of the faith community in combating anti-Semitism and presents moral clarity in standing with Israel and the Jewish community in the West. Miller is a senior executive with more than 30 years of management and business experience. He has served as the interim CEO of NRB since March 2019, assuming leadership during a time of financial crisis. Under Miller's leadership, the association has recaptured a strong financial position, grown its membership and significantly enhanced programming, networking, equipping, sponsorship, and exhibition aspects of the annual NRB International Christian Media Convention. Miller is also currently President & CEO of NRBTV where he has served since June 2005. He served with distinction in the US Navy from 1983-1988, including time assigned to the Naval Engineering Command at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS. Miller was part of the commissioning crew of USS Bunker Hill. He worked for personal computer Gateway, Inc. for ten years and was involved in leading several business startups, including Gateway's expansion into Europe and Asia, new manufacturing facilities, and global information technology application strategy. He served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer for D. James Kennedy Ministries. Miller has spoken at seminars on strategic business planning, information technology integration, organizational development, and Christian apologetics, as well as training pastors in the Far East. americasrt.com (https://americasrt.com/) https://ileaderssummit.org/ | https://jerusalemleaderssummit.com/ America's Roundtable on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/americas-roundtable/id1518878472 Twitter: @NRBCEO @ileaderssummit @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA @supertalk America's Roundtable is co-hosted by Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy, co-founders of International Leaders Summit and the Jerusalem Leaders Summit. There comes, in some two short weeks, the most important and critical elections which our beloved America has ever encountered. Elections 2024 will determine the future, the heart and soul of America for decades to come. You, American citizen and person of faith, will vote in this election, will you not? If you are Christian, and you wish to protect your faith, the freedom you have to enjoy and practice your religion, and the free speech guaranteed by the Constitution, you have no other choice:YOU MUST VOTE!You must.Troy A. Miller, President and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) says unequivocally and emphatically:“CHRISTIANS HAVE A MORAL AND ETHICAL DUTY TO VOTE NOVEMBER 5!”Miller says that a Christian really has no choice but to vote. There is no option not to vote for there is a moral, Christian duty to vote. So, my fellow Americans, legal citizens, and Christians:YOU WILL VOTE NOVEMBER 5, WILL YOU NOT?Troy Miller goes on to state the following:“It's time to get millions of evangelical voters to the polls.”Is it ever.In this election, there are seven so-called swing states, the votes in which and the electoral college numbers, pundits say, will determine the election. Listen to this tragic statistic. It was estimated that in Elections 2020, an estimated 7 million evangelicals in those 7 swing states did not participate in the election:DID NOT VOTE!That is a shocking, frustrating, and tragic statistic and it is, says Miller, one inexcusable, unpatriotic, uncaring, abandonment of civic duty and concern and love for America, and of course the freedom of the Christian faith we hold so dear.Dr. James Dobson, he of Family Talk Fame, is greatly concerned for the future of America and the outcomes of Elections 2024. Dobson also agrees fully, as do his cohorts, Michelle Bachman and Gary Bauer, that America is on the path to destruction if evangelical Christians, real Christians, do not vote, and vote right and informed for the very best candidates. So, you will vote, will you not? YOU MUST VOTE!Hear the words of candidate for President, Donald Trump:“OUR ENEMIES ARE WAGING WAR ON FREEDOM AND FAITH, ONSCIENCE AND RELIGION, ON HISTORY AND TRADITION, ON LAW ANDDEMOCRACY, ON THE FAMILY, ON CHILDREN, ON AMERICA ITSELF.”It is simply tragic to learn how many real Christians, so-called evangelicals, bible-believing and Christian-faith-practicing Christians have not voted and who do not intend to vote 2024. That is absolutely tragic, almost sabotage to our great country and an utter and total disrespect for the freedoms, the lifestyle, and the American way we all enjoy and which so many take for granted. But progressive, liberal thought and activism have contaminated the mainstream of American life and culture, and in the words of Franklin Graham:“SO MUCH SO THAT ONCE UNTHINKABLE ABOMINATIONS SUCH ASSAME SEX MARRIAGE, ABORTION ON DEMAND, AND TRANSGENDERADVOCACY HAVE BECOME DOGMA IN ONE MAJOR PARTY'S PLATFORM.”That political party is of course not Republican. I wonder if you can guess which party that would be? Various and considerable strong biblical, God-fearing, evangelical leaders have said unequivocally, that a vote for Harris-Walz, or Democrat senators or congress persons, is indeed a vote for unlimited abortion, transgender advocacy, and the curtailing of freedom of speech and religion, and the growth and power of all governments, and the drift of America towards Socialism and even Marxism itself. More from Franklin Graham:“The Bible clearly teaches that governments are ordained by God to restrain evil and enable righteousness to flourish.”And then Franklin Graham states unequivocally:“That's why Christians should carefully pray and vote!”Like Troy Miller of NRB, and James Dobson, and so many other evangelical leaders, Graham really believes it is the moral duty of a Christian to vote, to protect America, and to elect the best possible candidates. So, my fellow Americans, legal citizens, you will vote will you not? YOU MUST VOTE! The senatorial voting and the gubernatorial decision making of Harris and Walz lead so many Christian leaders to state the following:“CAN ANY THINKING, WELL INFORMED CHRISTIAN VOTE FOR ANY DEMOCRAT?”Given what this party stands for, its platform, what Harris truly is and what she believes, and what she will inevitably do should she be elected President, will result in the most anti-Christian, religious persons of faith political administration in the history of our country. Christians have a duty to do everything humanly possible to prevent that from happening.Vote 2024, Christian, VOTE! Protect your constitutional freedoms. Stand up for what is morally right, traditionally American, and biblical truth. STAND UP! YOU and so many other, literally millions, of bible-believing, real Christians can in fact determine the outcome, up and down the ballots, of Elections 2024. YOU CAN DO THAT! So, never forget the admonitions of Troy Miller, Franklin Graham, and James Dobson:YOU MUST VOTE 2024!YOU MUST.

And for all of those years—culminating in last year's 50th anniversary world tour—Petra was led, on guitar and as the band's main songwriter and visionary, by Bob Hartman. So it was with true excitement—as fans and as fellow friends of Israel—that Bishop Paul Lanier and The Fellowship welcomed Bob Hartman to the podcast at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville, TN.Bob was gracious enough to stop by from his home in Tennessee to discuss his career, the musical legacy that Petra has left for people of faith, and his love for God's people, Israel.Listen to this uplifting conversation with Christian musician and songwriter, Petra's Bob Hartman.

“These are God's chosen people and He's got a message that He wants to give the rest of the world through them.”This is what Ambassador Sam Brownback, a true friend of Israel, told Fellowship Board Chair Bishop Paul Lanier during a recent conversation on matters of faith and how Christians can stand for the Jewish state and its people. But despite the Jewish people's calling as God's people, Brownback points out that “evil has come after them in almost every country they've been in.”And it is this evil, this faithlessness, that Ambassador Brownback has helped combat throughout his long career as a public servant, as both Congressman and Senator, as Governor of his home state of Kansas, and as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom during the Trump Administration.Speaking with Bishop Lanier at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville, TN, Ambassador Brownback shares about his first trip to Israel while serving in the U.S. Congress, his recent trip to the Holy Land in the wake of the October 7th attacks, and what people of faith can do do stand for what's right and stand for Israel.Listen to this insightful conversation with a true ambassador for faith and freedom. For more information on today's episode visit mybiblicalroots.org.
As he sat down with The Fellowship recently, Jordan Marcellino quoted Isaiah 58:12 when telling how God called his family back to Israel—to live, to work, and to restore the beautiful Holy Land he calls home.“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”And today, the holy work of rebuilding, repairing, restoring, and raising up the Holy Land is being done through the Beautiful Land Initiative (BLI), founded by Jordan and his wife Hillary in 2015. With a wide array of projects—from voluntourism cleanups to beachside bins, from education to archaeology of the land of the Bible—BLI connects those who stand with Israel to the Holy Land that they love, making it even more beautiful in the process.Jordan chatted with The Fellowship at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville, TN, sharing of Israel's beauty, of God's call to him, and how the Beautiful Land Initiative is inspiring and empowering all of God's people to appreciate and take ownership of His Holy Land. For more information on today's episode visit mybiblicalroots.org.
“October 7th was such a wake-up call for us.”These are the worlds of Adele Raemer—an Israeli, a mother, a grandmother, a kibbutz resident near Israel's border with Gaza, and a survivor of the Hamas attacks of that day.Adele spoke with Fellowship President and CEO Yael Eckstein—from the war-torn Holy Land—in the weeks after the attacks. And she recently traveled from her temporary home in Israel to join The Fellowship at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville, TN, to tell Americans of faith her story. After hosting a special media event that featured a conversation with Governor Mike Huckabee, she sat down to share with us her experiences—before, during, and since the terrorist infiltration into southern Israel, including her longtime home in Nirim.Listen to this important and uplifting conversation. For more information on today's episode visit mybiblicalroots.org.
For listeners of this podcast, Dr. Alveda King has been a favorite guest, sharing about her family's legacy and her own faith. And so it was with great excitement that Bishop Lanier and The Fellowship welcomed Dr. King at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville, TN.This author, professor, civil rights pioneer, and dear friend of Israel and of The Fellowship was gracious enough to share an inspiring conversation that we know will inspire you, as well. For more information on today's episode visit mybiblicalroots.org.
“Anu is the Hebrew word for we or us.”That's how Grace Rapkin explains the name of ANU—Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv, which she serves as Marketing Manager. The “we” that this museum serves includes all of us—all people of faith. And the crowd that was able to watch this podcast live was certainly made up of such faithful folks, at the recent National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville, TN.Ms. Rapkin sat down with The Fellowship to talk about this very special museum in the Holy Land, and its many exhibits that teach about millennia of Jewish worship, tradition, and culture—including the Codex Sassoon, which many of you might have heard about recently as the oldest Hebrew Bible in existence. From this priceless example of God's Word to items donated by the likes of Steven Spielberg and Bob Dylan, from art made in the wake of the October 7th attacks to an interactive exhibit that teaches Jewish recipes from across the globe, ANU: Museum of the Jewish People shows us the influence that Judaism has had on the world, from Bible times to today. For more information on today's episode visit mybiblicalroots.org.

“Everything that I embrace as a Christian is rooted in the promises that God gave to the Jewish people.”Of the many Christian friends of The Fellowship and of the Jewish state of Israel, none has a passion and calling stronger than that of Governor Mike Huckabee. His accomplishments—44th governor of Arkansas, presidential candidate, ordained Southern Baptist pastor, and TBN host—certainly show him to be a man of action and a man of God.Gov. Huckabee recently put his godly heart for Israel into action by joining with The Fellowship at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville, TN. Before hosting a special media event that featured a conversation with an Israeli survivor of the October 7th attacks, he sat down with Fellowship Board Chair Bishop Paul Lanier to discuss his heart for Israel and what he experienced in a recent visit to the Holy Land.Of this fellowship of faith between Christians and Jews and between America and Israel, Gov. Huckabee says, “This is a biblical mandate, and we need to stand on it and recognize that we should never ever allow the Jewish people to feel that they're alone again.”Listen to this important and uplifting conversation. For more information on today's episode visit mybiblicalroots.org.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, has become all too familiar a topic today. Most of the time it's in reference to veteran soldiers, coming back from the theater of war after experiencing its untold horrors. But what about the victims of conflict who are not trained soldiers? What about the children? David Rubin is the former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel. In 2001 he was driving home from Jerusalem with his 3-year-old son in his car seat, when a hail of terrorist's bullets struck their car. His son was hit, the bullet missing his brain stem by one millimeter. Surgeries and physical therapy healed his body but couldn't heal the emotional trauma. After realizing his son suffered from severe PTSD, Rubin realized children needed a different kind of therapy, and he founded the Shiloh Israel Children's Fund. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, recorded at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in May, Rubin talks about that harrowing day when he desperately tried to escape the barrage of bullets, and save his son. Then, the long road to creating the Children's Fund, which gives young people with PTSD specialized therapy through education, recreational projects, music and more. Learn more about your ad choices. Johnnie Moore, pastor, entrepreneur, and a tireless advocate for Israel and the Jewish people. Rev. Moore recently joined podcast host Bishop Paul Lanier, Board Chairman of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention, to share his insights on passing on a passion for Israel and the Jewish people to the next generation. These two pioneers and longtime leaders with the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) organization recently joined podcast host Bishop Paul Lanier, Board Chair of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, at the NRB convention, to discuss Rabbi Eckstein's visionary and trailblazing work. Jim Daly is president of Focus on the Family and host of its daily radio broadcast, heard by more than 6 million listeners a week on nearly 2,000 radio stations across the U.S. The show has been honored as Program of the Year by the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). In March 2022, he celebrated his 33rd anniversary with the ministry.Daly's personal journey from orphan to head of an international Christian organization dedicated to helping families thrive is a powerful story. Abandoned by his alcoholic father at age 5, he lost his mother to cancer four years later – a wound deepened when his grieving stepfather emptied the family home and left Daly, the youngest of five children, and his siblings to fend for themselves after their mother's funeral.Several tough years followed, including time in foster care, before Daly became a Christian in high school and found meaning, purpose and a sense of belonging. “I am living proof,” he wrote in his 2007 autobiography, “Finding Home,” “that no matter how torn up the road has already been, or how pothole-infested it may look ahead, nothing – nothing – is impossible for God.”Daly was named president of Focus on the Family in 2005. Under his leadership, the organization has taken on a major role nationally in encouraging and helping facilitate foster-care adoptions, earning recognition from the White House and Congress for its efforts. The ministry also has reinvigorated its traditional focus on helping couples build strong marriages and raise healthy, resilient kids.Daly started his career at Focus in 1989 as an assistant to the president, fostering relationships with the ministry's supporters. He was appointed international field director for Asia, Africa and Australia in 1992, and in 1997 was promoted to vice president of the International Division. In 2004, Daly was appointed chief operating officer, the role he held until he was handpicked by Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson to be the group's president. Daly graduated from California State University, San Bernardino, in 1984 with a B.S. in Business Administration. During his senior year, he attended Waseda University in Tokyo, and after graduating worked for a Fortune 500 company. In 1997, he completed his MBA in International Business at Regis University in Denver. In 2009, he received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Colorado Christian University in Denver.Daly has received the 2008 World Children's Center Humanitarian Award, the 2009 Children's Hunger Fund Children's Champion Award, and the 2010 HomeWord Family Ministry Award. He has appeared on such television programs as “Fox & Friends,” “America Live with Megyn Kelly,” “ABC World News Tonight” and PBS' “Religion & Ethics”; and been featured in Time, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today and Newsweek, which named him one of the Top 10 next-generation evangelical leaders of influence. He was also the subject of a July 2011 cover story in Christianity Today.Daly is an author whose latest book, “When Parenting Isn't Perfect,” encourages parents to realize that they, like their children, aren't perfect and don't need to be – they're called to do their best in Christ, knowing that God works through all the messy family situations that are a normal part of this life. Other books Daly has written include “ReFOCUS: Living a Life That Reflects God's Heart” which explores how to engage the culture for Christ in a compassionate and winsome way and “Marriage Done Right: One Man, One Woman,” in which Daly examines God's purposes for marriage, including the unique benefits that a mom and a dad bring to the partnership of raising children.Daly has been married to his wife, Jean, since 1986. They have two sons and reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Focus on the Family is a global Christian ministry dedicated to helping families thrive. Manipulation, Money & Modern Parenting America continues to be a country that sparks not only the curiosity but the desire of those from other nations. Day after day people are trying to get here; whether that be legally or otherwise. If American is such a terrible place to live, then why are we facing a crisis at the border? There are those that would seek to manipulate our society into hating our country. As the church, we must learn to recognize this for what it is: a history lesson in a failed form of government. Our kids deserve the rest of the story. Our kids are not naive to manipulation. In fact, I've learned through my work with teens that they don't particularly like to be unjustly controlled, played, conned, or manipulated. They don't tolerate hypocrisy and lies from anyone; not the government, teachers, bosses, coaches, or even their own parents. So why would they accept being conned by foreign billionaires? Unfortunately, manipulated is a good word to describe our youth today. And it's happening by way of lies, revisions to our history, and lore of free stuff. But our kids aren't the only victims of this manipulation. Many adults have bought into the lies that society is constantly feeding us. And this includes highly intelligent and educated adults. Discussing George Soros with Dr. Frank Wright Dr. Frank Wright has been the president and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) for more than 10 years. He's also acted as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Salem Communications Corporation. He then joined Dr. D. James Kennedy ministries as its president and CEO in 2015. Daniel Darling, Senior VP for Communications at National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) , talks about his new book, 'The Characters of Easter: The Villains, Heroes, Cowards, and Crooks Who Witnessed History's Biggest Miracle.'
The most tragic reality of last Easter and too many other Easters is that so many people spend holidays like this alone, with no human connection; 2020 was agonizing because it brought funerals where loved ones couldn’t gather to mourn loss, empty bedsides where those gasping for air were denied comforting touch, and long months when the elderly were isolated from meaningful community. Humans are intensely social creatures, not made for isolation. On Good Friday, we can see in the agony of Jesus in His dying moments a true loneliness we are spared from experiencing. Jesus – the blame of humankind’s worst evil thrust upon His sagging shoulders – felt the cold shoulder of the Father, who turned His face away. Jesus was alone so you would never be alone and could enjoy communion with the One who created you. He felt the sting of isolation so you could be baptized into a body of believers in Heaven and earth. Jesus took upon Himself your sins so you could enjoy intimacy with your Father. He is the One who broke through the sting of death, who defeated sin, and who ushers you into communion with God. Author Bio: DANIEL DARLING is the Senior Vice-President of Communications for the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), and a regular contributor to several leading evangelical publications, including Christianity Today, Homelife, InTouch and others. He has authored six books, including Teen People of the Bible, The Original Jesus, and The Dignity Revolution. Dan is a teaching pastor at Green Hill Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and lives with his wife and four children in the Nashville area.
Forsaking The Ideals of Socialism & Globalism Our country is the country people from other countries are trying to get to; both legally and illegally. If it is such a terrible place then why are they trying to do this? Today we look at how the church can recognize manipulation by those who would want us to hate America and those who wish for us to accept the narrative of a historically failed form of government. We need to let our kids in on the rest of the story. I know from working with kids that they don't like to be unjustly controlled, conned, or otherwise manipulated. Not by their government, their teachers, bosses, coaches, or their own parents; and certainly not by foreign billionaires! But being controlled, conned, and otherwise manipulated is exactly what's been happening to our kids these days through lies, revisions of history, and lore of free stuff! Our kids aren't the only victims here. It's a lot of adults too. I'm talking highly educated adults. I can't tell you why but we know that there is no fool like the educated fool, right? Whatever the case, this is an interesting and important parenting topic and we're excited to have Dr. Frank Wright with us today to talk about it. Discussing the Exposure of Falisies with Dr. Dr. Wright's organization has produced a documentary that exposes the architecture of left, the well-heeled foundations that make the grants, activist groups that do the work (including Catholic, Protestant, and evangelicals organizations), and politicized media who amplify the message.” Christian Parents & the Importance of History Episode Highlights: Who is George Soros? Fake news. Online rage. Cancelled out. Silenced. Echo chambers. These phrases did not mean much a decade ago, but they are prevalent today. In a world that relies heavily on digital communication, it is becoming more and more difficult to tease out what is real and what is fake. In Episode 125, Daniel and Christina interview Dan Darling about the importance of "online discernment" and how you can use your online conversations for good. In This Episode, You Will Hear About: How you can use your online conversations for good Learn to use "online discernment" before posting something or responding to someone on social media Hear about when it is appropriate to “silence” or “cancel out” someone on your social media A framework of discernment to use when reading the news to know what’s real and what’s fake news Resources Mentioned During the Episode: Pick up a copy of Dan Darling's newest book, A Way With Words: Using Our Online Conversations For Good The Characters of Christmas: The Unlikely People Caught Up In The Story Of Jesus by Dan Darling Surprised By Paradox: The Promise of "And" In An Either-Or World by Jen Pollock Michael Seculosity: How Career, Parenting, Technology, Food, Politics, And Romance Became Our New Romance (and what to do about it) by David Zahl To find out more about Dan, go to Danieldarling.com Quotes and Tweets: God cares about the words that we speak. @dandarling Discernment is distinguishing between what is true and beautiful and what is not. @dandarling The idea that I'm not God and I don't know things means that I need to be curious. The curiosity we have for wisdom and knowledge is good and God-given. @dandarling Let everyone be quick to get the whole story, slow to post, and slow to digital rage. @dandarling Remember that when you are online, you are in public. You're not just behind a keyboard. @dandarling The quality of our offline life will determine the health of our online life. @dandarling If you understand that God loves the real version of you - the offline, uncurated, messy version of you - you won't have to seek affirmation from a tribe online. @dandarling What is at the heart of our endless need to check in on social media, our never-ending Google searches for fruitless information, and our restlessness in this age of information? @dandarling One of the lies my phone tells me is that I don't actually feed God. I can control my life and my destiny and the well-being of my family and friends because with this digital device, I have access to power. @dandarling We are susceptible to believe news, to jump ahead of the facts, to not wait for the full story because we want to believe the worst about the people with whom we disagree. @dandarling Jesus calls us to something better. Rather than erasing people with whom we disagree, he calls us to see everyone, even the person who offends our sensibilities the most, as an image-bearer of God. @dandarling Subscribe and Connect With Us: Apple Podcasts Spotify Stitcher Google Podcasts Google Play Instagram - @imbetweenshow Twitter - @imbetweenshow Facebook - @imbetweenshow Pinterest - @imbetweenshow YouTube - @imbetweenpodcast And don't forget to subscribe to our podcast, so that you will never miss an episode! _________________________________________________________________ Meet Dan Darling : Daniel Darling is the Senior VP for Communications at National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) and served for six years as VP of Communications for ERLC. Dan Darling, bestselling author, pastor, and Senior Vice President of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), discusses why and how Christians should be engaged in politics. The conversation includes some good principles to adhere to when engaging in online discussion, and how parents can teach their children to have civil discourse grounded in a Christian worldview.
It's all too tempting in the age of social media to jump in on any and every controversial debate or conversation we see. Chances are, especially in 2020, you've had to decide whether to engage with someone or bite your tongue. If you're like me, you've entered into some online battles you didn't really need to. We've all been there, and it's only going to get worse as we get closer to the election in November. But there's a way Christians can and should engage online when it comes to potentially contentious conversations, and author Dan Darling explains that in this week's episode. Dan is author of a new book entitled "A Way with Words: Using Our Online Conversations for Good," and he's full of Biblical wisdom on this topic. As a journalist and English teacher, I appreciated the chance to nerd out and have a conversation all about words. Dan is the Senior VP for Communications at National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) and served for six years as VP of Communications for ERLC. He has authored nine books, including "The Original Jesus, The Dignity Revolution and the bestselling The Characters of Christmas." He's also a Chicago Bears fan, which makes him alright in my book.
