It's Thursday, April 3rd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 46 physical attacks on Christians in Israel last year Attacks on Christians in Israel increased last year according to a report from the Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue.  Christians in Israel suffered 111 attacks in 2024, including 46 physical attacks. The report noted, “The most common form of physical harassment is spitting—a long-standing issue that has escalated from subtle incidents to openly aggressive acts. Clergy are now regularly harassed in public spaces.”  Perpetrators are generally Jewish young men from ultra-Orthodox circles.  Chinese saber-rattling against Taiwan prompting Christians to pray The Chinese military carried out large-scale drills around Taiwan on Tuesday. China claims self-ruled Taiwan as a breakaway province and has not ruled out force to bring it under Beijing's control. Such saber-rattling has left many in Taiwan uneasy. But Christians across the island nation are uniting in prayer for revival, unity, repentance, and protection. People are praying every day for 24 hours a day. The number of prayer groups has reached 40,000 with about five members per group. Brian Liu, Pastor at Shekinah House of Bread of Life, spoke to CBN News, LIU: “The united prayers and fasting prayers of the churches in Taiwan are much more than ever before. It's an unprecedented prayer movement.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Republicans win two Florida congressional seats In the United States, Republicans won special elections on Tuesday for two Florida congressional districts. Former state Sen. Randy Fine won the open U.S. House seat in Florida's 6th Congressional District, replacing Mike Waltz who is now President Donald Trump's national security adviser. And Republican Jimmy Patronis won the state's 1st Congressional District which was previously held by former Rep. Matt Gaetz. The victories maintain the GOP's slim majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Democrats won Wisconsin Supreme Court seat However, Democrats won a Supreme Court race in Wisconsin on Tuesday. Democrat-backed judge Susan Crawford defeated Trump-backed judge Brad Schimel 55% to 45%.  Crawford previously served as an attorney for Planned Parenthood. She fought against a law for women's safety which would have required abortion mills to have hospital admitting privileges. And Crawford fought against a law that would have prevented women from being coerced into abortion. Her victory maintains a liberal majority on the court which may hear important cases on abortion and congressional maps and redistricting.  Specifically, Democrats are eager to insert a so-called right to abortion in the Wisconsin Constitution and redistrict previously safe Republican districts into Democrat ones, ensuring that Trump will lose his slim House majority which would deep-six his legislative agenda. Kelsey Pritchard, Communications Director of the pro-life Women Speak Out PAC, said, “Republican voters should heed this race as a warning on becoming complacent following the wins last November. “We must be engaged as we enter the mid-terms and show up to the polls next year so that the Trump administration's progress is not reversed. Otherwise, Democrats will fulfill the abortion lobby's agenda for the elimination of parental rights and all-trimester abortion funded by the taxpayer.” It was the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history with over $90 million spent. That included $20 million from tech billionaire Elon Musk for Brad Schimel.  South Carolina eager to end Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in an abortion funding case yesterday. The state of South Carolina is trying to end Medicaid funding for abortion giant Planned Parenthood. The Palmetto state has the support of the Trump administration and 18 other states. Alliance Defending Freedom is representing South Carolina in the case. John Bursch, their Senior Counsel, said, “Taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund facilities that profit off abortion and distribute dangerous gender-transition drugs to minors.” Wyoming no longer requires homeschoolers to get gov't approval Back at the end of February, Wyoming's Republican Governor Mark Gordon signed the Homeschool Freedom Act into law. Homeschool families in the state are no longer required to notify or check in with the government to educate their children. Wyoming is the 12th state in the nation to end such requirements and the first to do so by legislation. The Home School Legal Defense Association supported the bill. Christian astronaut trusted God despite 9-month delay in space And finally, a Christian astronaut shared his story with CBN News after being stuck in space for nine months.  NASA Astronaut Barry Wilmore was planning for an eight-day mission to the International Space Station last year. But technical complications delayed his return until last month. Wilmore said God's sovereignty sustained him during the extended journey. He even led church devotionals while in orbit and sang “Amazing Grace” with fellow astronauts. He said he trusted God's plan. WILMORE: “The Lord's plan and His purpose. I'm okay with it. Whatever. Is it my plan? No, but my plans are not usually the good plans, are the right plans. And the Lord's [plans] always are, regardless of what takes place. God's word is clear, and I believe it because I've lived it. God is always good.” Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, April 3rd, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Michael served as the President and CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom from 2017 to 2022. He is currently General Counsel to the National Religious Broadcasters.  For over 40 years, Michael has practiced constitutional appellate litigation specializing in religious freedom and parental rights. In that capacity, he has argued before many state appellate courts, federal circuit courts of appeal, and even the Supreme Court of the United States!  Of particular note is that Mike was CEO of the Alliance Defending Freedom organization while ADF was serving as co-counsel to the Attorney General of Mississippi for the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health which reversed Roe v. Wade!  For his work, Michael has received numerous awards and honors, including two honorary doctorates.  He is the author of over fifteen books, as well as law review and other scholarly and popular articles. He and his wife, Vickie, have ten children, 31 grandchildren and one great-grandchild (with more to come!)  In this podcast, Michael talks about how as an attorney he helped me (Randy Hekman) in 1982 when I as a Juvenile Court Judge faced potential consequences due to my ruling on a case involving a 13 year old girl who sought an abortion.  Michael also talks about the incredible blessing of children, a concept that far too few Christian parents fully embrace. Why should we Christians buy into the world's lie that children are more a burden than a blessing and therefore should be minimized?  Finally, Michael shares about a trip to the Soviet Union in 1988 where he met many Christian couples who had very large families. And they explained to Michael that they chose to have many children to show the distressed world around them that, with God and His blessings, we can have genuine hope for the future rather than despair.

This bill would make it a crime to turn in homeschool paperwork late. It would also allow unelected bureaucrats to promulgate freedom-restricting regulations that would affect homeschoolers and private schools alike.Officials had to close the capitol after an estimated 8,000 people had been admitted, while hundreds more rallied outside. On the legislature's website, almost 50,000 people filed witness slips in opposition. Another 400 filed in favor of the bill. The 1950 Illinois Supreme Court case called, People v. Levisen, established that parents could educate their children at home with certain restrictions. These included teaching required subjects and if the family was challenged, the burden of proof was on the family to provide evidence. This has worked well for 75 years.Last year some opponents did a "hit piece" on homeschooling claiming that it is a shield for abuse and neglect. Right after that, Will noted that the sponsor, Illinois State Representative Terra Costa Howard, was quoted as saying, "We need to go after homeschoolers." As you'll hear, this is not a simple misunderstanding over a registration form. This involves an annual, mandatory filing that includes criminal penalties such as jail time under this legislation.

(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Texas university lecturer on video harassing evangelist put on leave A University of Texas at Arlington philosophy lecturer who was seen in a viral video harassing a Christian evangelist says he's been placed on administrative leave, reports The Christian Post. In a video shared on March 9th, Charles Hermes, an undergraduate advisor and senior lecturer of Philosophy, is seen shouting "No justice!" at a pro-life street preacher during a pro-abortion rally in Fort Worth. The evangelist is heard asking, "Do you believe in Jesus?" to several bystanders in the video.  A campus reporter enters the frame and asks the preacher, "Why are you here?" The preacher replies, "I am here because I was brought here. I am here because all the children that are dying.” Proverbs 24:11 says, “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.” Senate passes funding bill to avert government shutdown Last Friday, the U.S. Senate approved a House-passed bill to extend government funding by six months, hours before a shutdown deadline, reports The Epoch Times. In an initial procedural vote, 11 Senate Democrats joined Republicans to advance the measure. Afterwards, the Senate passed the bill in a 54–46 vote. Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire and Independent Senator Angus King of Vermont supported final passage. Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky was the only Republican to oppose the package, because there were not deeper cuts in spending. PAUL: “President Trump has pledged to balance the budget. I want to help him with this task, but to balance the budget requires much less spending than this current bill entails. “Our national debt now exceeds $36 trillion. That's 124% of the size of our economy. That should not be a surprise. We're adding $2 trillion every year to the debt, this year included. “Critics of excessive federal spending have rightly argued that we should return spending to pre-pandemic levels. This is something I could support. The spending bill before us, though, spends $400 billion more than we were spending before the pandemic. Spending went through the roof during the pandemic, and it never came back down. And the deficits are out of control. “In order for this bill to get back to pre-pandemic levels, it would have to be $400 billion less. That's something I could support.” The legislation, which extends government funding through September 30, now heads to the desk of President Donald Trump, who's expected to sign it. Homeland Security revokes student visa of terrorist sympathizer Last Friday, the Department of Homeland Security announced it revoked the visa of one Columbia University student escalating its crackdown on those engaged in pro-Hamas demonstrations over the conflict in Gaza, reports The Hill. The stripping of the visa comes just days after the detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a former grad student at the university, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Khalil has a green card. Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained the Trump administration's actions. RUBIO: “When you come to the United States as a visitor, which is what a visa is, we can deny you that visa. We can deny you that if you tell us, when you apply, ‘Hi, I'm trying to get into the United States on a student visa. I am a big supporter of Hamas, a murderous, barbaric group that kidnaps children, that rapes teenage girls, that takes hostages, that allows them to die in captivity, that returns more bodies than live hostages.' If you tell us, … ‘I intend to come to your country as a student, and rile up all kinds of anti-Jewish student, antisemitic activities.' ... “This is not about free speech. This is about people that don't have a right to be in the United States to begin with. No one has a right to a student visa. No one has a right to a green card.” Bill allows interrogation of homeschool parents Illinois homeschool advocates and supporters of private education are warning about a bill in the Illinois House that could involve the invasion of personal privacy and lead to government intrusion into the rights of parents to educate their children, reports LifeSiteNews.com. It's based on model legislation supported by a Massachusetts-based group that also warns about “parental rights extremism” and “Christian fundamentalists.” Illinois House Bill 2827 “would create new requirements for homeschooling families to report their educational activities to authorities,” according to the Home School Legal Defense Association. Deuteronomy 6:7 says, “You shall teach [the Commands of God] diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” The group, along with Illinois Christian Home Educators, recently had more than 2,000 people come out to the state capitol to rally in support of educational freedom. More than 20,000 people have also filled out witness slips against the pending bill and only 500 have voiced support. The legislation was introduced by Illinois Democratic Rep. Terra Costa-Howard and co-sponsored by another 15 State Reps. under the guise of protecting kids in homeschool from abuse and ensuring they're aware of opportunities for medical care and activities through their local school district. You can send an email with your objection through a special HSLDA Action link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. Country band censored by TV station over patriotic song And finally, the Dugger Band, a patriotic country music group, was censored by television station WSMV in Nashville, Tennessee, reports Christian talk radio host Todd Starnes. The brothers -- Jordan and Seth Dugger -- had written a song called “True Colors.” They had been invited to perform on the station's “Today in Nashville” program. But when station management read the lyrics – they told the boys from the mountains of East Tennessee that it was politically biased – because it promoted America. The Dugger brothers said, “We wrote this song because we're proud to be Americans and we're tired of people putting the USA down.” Listen to some of the lyrics that offended the management at WSMV TV. “You're just sitting there sipping on that Starbucks cup Hating on everything, not doing anything I crank up some Toby Keith Climb back in my truck [Pre-Chorus] “And it don't matter where the chips may fall That Statue of Liberty will be standing tall The best part about the land of the free Is if you don't like it, you're free to leave [Chorus] “But I ain't leaving here I'm an eighth generation God-fearing blue collar with the flag waving And I don't wait for the Fourth of July It′s year round, life-long American pride “And right here, right now, I'm drawing the line If this country ain't something you can stand bеhind Then that's the differеnce 'tween me and you 'Cause my true colors are red, white and blue” If you object to WSMV-TV's decision to prohibit The Dugger Band from performing their patriotic song “True Colors,” send a polite email to comments@wsmv.com. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Chinese Communists refer to Christianity as a cult China celebrated its continued persecution of Christianity, calling it a cult organization. State-owned media platforms said, “China's public security authorities intensified efforts to dismantle cult organizations in 2024. They have worked to curb the growth and spread of cult organizations, mitigating potential threats to national political security and maintaining social stability.”  The Chinese Communist Party treats religious freedom as a threat to the government. International Christian Concern notes home churches are “often raided and their members arrested on charges of working against the interests of the state.” British Christian teacher fired for opposing transgenderism Yesterday, a tribunal in the United Kingdom began hearing the case of a Christian teacher who was fired for opposing transgenderism. The teacher, identified as Hannah, is suing the Nottinghamshire County Council which runs the school she worked at. She accuses the school of dismissing her for exposing its “trans affirming” policy.  Ahead of the hearing, Hannah said, “I was informed by my conscience as a Christian to live right before my God and also by the body of evidence I had researched which informed me clearly that social transitioning young children is harmful.” Trump pauses military aid to Ukraine In the United States, the Trump administration is planning to pause military aid to Ukraine. This follows a heated meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last Friday.  The U.S. has sent over $180 billion in aid to Ukraine since Russia invaded it in 2022. A White House official told Fox News, “President Trump has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution.” English becomes official language of U.S.A. President Trump signed an executive order on Saturday to make English the official language of the United States. The order revokes a mandate from former President Bill Clinton. That mandate required the government to provide language assistance for its documents and services for non-English speakers.  It's the first time the federal government has recognized an official language. Trump's order noted it is “long past time that English is declared as the official language of the United States.  A nationally designated language is at the core of a unified and cohesive society, and the United States is strengthened by a citizenry that can freely exchange ideas in one shared language.”  Homeschooling could be restricted in several states The Home School Legal Defense Association warns that states may be considering bills to restrict homeschool freedom this year. The Coalition for Responsible Home Education introduced a model piece of legislation called the “Make Homeschool Safe Act.” However, the deceptively titled act would only bring more state control over homeschooling. The Home School Legal Defense Association noted, “It is an all-out attack on homeschool liberty from beginning to end.” The group encouraged homeschool advocates to pray and get to know their state legislators. In 1 Timothy 2:2, the Apostle Paul tells us to pray for those in authority “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” “House of David” is visually stunning and spiritually rich And finally, with strong cinematography, solid performances and a focus on biblical accuracy, Prime Video's “House of David” is an ambitious mix of drama and historical storytelling, capturing the fall of King Saul and the simultaneous rise of David with the scope of “The Lord of the Rings” and the character depth of “The Chosen,” reports The Christian Post. From Jon Gunn and Jon Erwin (who previously teamed up for “Jesus Revolution,” "I Can Only Imagine" and “The Case for Christ”), the first season, which premiered on Prime this week, follows David's early years: His journey from shepherd to warrior and court musician, culminating in his battle against the giant Goliath.  In 1 Samuel 17:26, young David asked a question about Goliath: “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” Rather than simply retelling well-known events, “House of David” focuses on the personal struggles of its characters, making them relatable and human (even Goliath!), a technique that helped propel “The Chosen,” also recently acquired by Amazon, to a worldwide phenomenon.  Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, March 5th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Early election results were promising for Trump, Sudanese Muslims drove 34 Christians from their homes, 114-year-old Pennsylvania woman the oldest in North America

It's Wednesday, November 6th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Sudanese Muslims drove 34 Christians from their homes Morning Star News reports Muslims in Sudan drove 34 Christians from their homes last month. The Christians had come to the area after fleeing military conflict elsewhere in the northeastern African country. However, local Muslims demanded they leave since they did not want Christians in the area. One of the Christians said, “We are currently in a very bad humanitarian situation, as we have lost our shelter, and we have children, women and the elderly. And we have lost our livelihoods that helped us provide for our basic daily needs.” According to Open Doors, Sudan is the 8th most dangerous country for Christians worldwide. Pro-lifer reacts to prayer censorship zone around abortion mills Last Thursday, a “buffer zone” law went into effect in England and Wales. The Public Order Act 2023 bans people from “influencing” people at abortions mills. The United Kingdom's Crown Prosecution Service released legal guidance on the law. It noted that people could violate the law near abortion mills by offering counsel, handing out leaflets, holding Bibles, displaying images of babies, singing around religious pictures, and praying, including silent prayer.  Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, director of March for Life UK, called the law a national disgrace. VAUGHAN-SPRUCE: “Today is a shameful day for our country. Buffer zones around abortion centers have been legalized with an unlimited fine risk for those caught waking the obscure rules they set out.” Conservative Christian groups spending more money in Africa Conservative groups are increasing spending in Africa, according to a report from the Amsterdam-based Institute for Journalism and Social Change. The report covered 17 U.S. groups most of which were Christian and known for opposing sexually perverted lifestyles. The groups included Heartbeat International, Focus on the Family, Alliance Defending Freedom, and the Home School Legal Defense Association.  The groups spent a combined $16.5 million in Africa between 2019 and 2022. Over the period, spending increased 47%. U.S. conservative groups' investment in Africa comes as nations in the continent have passed laws in favor of Biblical marriage and sexuality.  80 million voters cast ballots during early voting Voters in the United States headed to the polls yesterday for the 2024 presidential election. Nearly 80 million voters already cast ballots in early voting. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump both encouraged their supporters to vote early. Voters will also be deciding control of the U.S. Congress. Nonpartisan analysis suggests that Republicans are likely to regain control of the Senate, but they might lose control of the House where Democrats only need to win four seats. Daniel 2:21 says God “changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” Early election results appear promising for Trump Initial results are in and early calls have been made. So far there are no surprises. Ten states, including Florida, have been called for Trump and eight states have been called for Harris. Gary Bauer, the founder of Campaign for Working Families, wrote, “Kudos to RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump. Throughout the day, the RNC had a serious ballot integrity effort under way so that at the first signs of predictable Democrat cheating, we immediately went into court to correct the situation. “While the night is still young, Harmeet Dhillon reports that everything seems to be running smoothly in Maricopa County, Arizona. The big challenge is making sure people get in line so they can vote. “There is one troubling area where we still need more information. An alleged ‘tabulation error' in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has resulted in 31,000 absentee ballots being recounted. Election officials made this announcement without stating any results. This is the kind of thing that puts us all on edge. “Florida is the third largest state in the country and they are racing through the counting process. Donald Trump and Sen. Rick Scott are leading by nearly one million votes. In fact, Trump is reportedly up by double digits in heavily Hispanic Miami-Dade County, suggesting he may perform well with Hispanics across the country. “But how is it that Florida can count ballots so efficiently and will have their results in a few hours while much smaller states are saying it will take days or weeks?  It doesn't take weeks to count votes. It takes weeks to cheat. “A CNN exit poll found that the degree of dissatisfaction with the direction of the country is extraordinary, and that should help Trump. Commentators said this was a strong current Harris must swim against since she has been in office the last four years.” Gary Bauer made one final observation. “One exit poll indicated that independent voters in Georgia were breaking for Trump by high single digits.” David Axelrod: There is “no enthusiasm on the ground for Kamala Harris” Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union" this past Sunday, David Axelrod, the chief strategist of Barack Obama's two successful presidential campaigns, said that there is "zero enthusiasm on the ground for Kamala Harris in demographics that [she] most needs."  AXELROD: “The watch word of the day is humility here. When you have polls this close, you're not sure of anything, and it really matters who shows up, because these polls are not precise. “So, what I'm worried about is you're counting on some women -- who are independent, Republican women -- to come out and vote for Harris. Is that going to materialize? Is the gender gap going to be what you need it to be? “Are minority voters going to come out in the numbers, of African-American voters in particular, and are you going to get the margins that you want there? So, there are a lot of open questions. This race is filled with uncertainty today.” 114-year-old Pennsylvania woman the oldest in North America And finally, a Pennsylvania woman is now considered to be the oldest living person in North America. 114-year-old Naomi Whitehead lives in a senior care community in Greenville West Salem. She attained the status after 115-year-old Elizabeth Francis of Texas died last month.  Naomi was born in September 1910 and has outlived her husband and three sons. She's the seventh oldest person in the world and has 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 49 great-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-great-grandchildren. She said she's abstained from smoking and drinking and also credits good genes. She told New Castle News last year, “I'll live as long as the Lord lets me.” 1 Peter 3:10-11 says, “He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, November 6th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. It's Thursday, October 24th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Persecution of Christians has worsened since 2022 Aid to the Church in Need released a report on Christian persecution this week. The study found the situation for Christians in 18 countries of key concern significantly worsened between 2022 and 2024. Militant Islam was responsible for increased persecution across African countries. And Christians continue to face discrimination under authoritarian regimes like China, India, and Iran. Aid to the Church in Need noted, “Recurring themes in the report include the displacement of Christian communities following attacks by extremist groups and the forced marriage and conversion of Christian women and girls, as well as the kidnapping and intimidation of priests and the publication of derogatory content about Christianity in school textbooks.” In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus said, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven.” Britain ready to legalize assisted suicide The U.K. parliament is considering a bill to legalize assisted suicide. A Christian group called CARE is opposing the bill and asking Christians to write their members of Parliament. Ross Hendry, CEO of CARE, said, “With huge pressure in the media and politics, we face the worst ever threat of assisted suicide becoming law. I urge you, please, to write to politicians to share your concerns. . . . Throughout history, the Church has strongly opposed assisted suicide and euthanasia.” Kamala doubles down on abortion Meanwhile in the United States, Vice President Kamala Harris voiced her no-exceptions pro-abortion view on Tuesday. She told  NBC's Hallie Jackson that she opposes any concessions on a national abortion law, including religious exemptions. JACKSON: “So, as a question of pragmatism then, what concessions would be on the table? Religious exemptions, for example? Is that something that you would consider? HARRIS: “I don't think we should be making concessions when we're talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body.” The Center for Baptist Leadership warned, “Kamala Harris says that she does not believe in religious exemptions for abortion. This means that all Christian hospitals, healthcare providers, and businesses would be forced to provide and cover abortion if she got her way. It would be the end of the First Amendment and religious liberty as we know it.” Trump: “Americans of faith are soul of our country!” Former President Donald Trump addressed the 11th Hour Faith Leaders Meeting in North Carolina on Monday. He warned a Harris administration would come after Christians while promising his administration would fight to protect Christians. TRUMP: “If Kamala Harris gets four more years, the radical Left is not going to leave Christians alone. It's going to get worse and worse. You're going to suffer greatly. They will come after Christians all over the country. “I will create a new federal task force on fighting anti-Christian bias that will be done immediately. (cheers) And I think it's very important for the people in this room to know, like Dr Ben Carson knows, Americans of faith are not a threat to our country. Americans of faith are the soul of our country, right?” (cheers) Paxton suing doctor who gave transgender drugs to 21 kids Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced last week that he is suing a doctor in the state for giving transgender drugs to 21 children. Paxton said, “Texas passed a law to protect children from these dangerous unscientific medical interventions that have irreversible and damaging effects. Doctors who continue to provide these harmful ‘gender transition' drugs and treatments will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.” If convicted, Dr. May Chi Lau could lose her license and face $1 million in fines. German homeschooling family allowed to stay in U.S. another year And finally, the Home School Legal Defense Association shared an encouraging update on the Romeike Family yesterday. The family left Germany where they faced fines and imprisonment for homeschooling. They received asylum in the U.S. back in 2008. For some reason, U.S. officials decided to deport them back to Germany in recent years. Thankfully, HSLDA was able to obtain a one-year delay of deportation for the family last October.  In the latest update, they announced officials have extended the Romeikes permission to stay in the U.S. for another year. Joel Grewe with HSLDA gave thanks for the decision, quoting Lamentations 3:22. He said, “We're grateful the current hurdle in front of them has passed, and we remain hopeful for the future. Indeed, ‘The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end.'” You can support the Romeikes' ongoing legal case through a link in our transcript today at TheWorldview.com.  Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, October 24th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. A handful of states still retain antiquated laws from the 1980s and 90s, but most states have removed unnecessary legal barriers with the recognition that homeschooling works. But pendulums swing, and in America today, the pendulum frequently swings in the wrong direction. Opponents of homeschool freedom are working in new and more coordinated ways to make homeschooling harder and less accessible to parents.  Legislative action to roll back homeschool freedom is being considered in three states in part because of negative portrayals of homeschooling in the press. My guest today is Attorney James (Jim) Mason. He is the president of the Homeschool Legal Defense Association. We're going to cover the history of homeschooling and the role that the Homeschool Legal Defense Association has been playing for over 40 years in securing and maintaining homeschool freedom. And as always, what you can do to help secure your freedom to homeschool in America in the coming years.  SPONSOR: Thank you to TUVU for sponsoring our podcast today! What a treat to spend the month of August talking all things home school in my new series Back to Home School. As a second-generation home schooler, I have loved home schooling for almost my whole life. Home schooling was an incredible gift to me as a student and now it is an incredible gift to me as a mom who is home schooling her kids. I share a little bit about my own home school journey in this episode and then jump into discussing the joys of home schooling in high school, as well as the early years. I hope you come away with the reminder that you are doing a good job wherever you're at in your home-schooling journey. He's a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar First Circuit Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, California and District of Columbia. Will himself is a homeschool graduate.--Homeschooling is seeing great success throughout the U.S. as parents serve as the primary educators for their children. There's been a mass exodus from public education, not only since the Covid pandemic, but as more and more indoctrination has been implanted via diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. In addition, more school districts are keeping parents from knowing what's going on when passing policies about how their children are identifying in the schools, what restrooms they use, the curriculum being taught or certain programs their children might be attending. --While this environment in public schools plays out, some parents choose to opt out, therefore homeschooling is under attack. This attack simply isn't working. As Will noted early in the broadcast, pre-Covid -just before 2020-, the U.S. Department of Education indicated there were about 2.1 to 3 million homeschooling students in the U.S. Now it's said to be between 6 and 8 million with some studies showing the number of homeschool students at the same level as the number of students in private schools. --Overall, Will described homeschooling this way- -...homeschooling is mainstream now...it's not just a weird thing. It has come into its own as a respected and established and successful way for loving parents to educate their children.---There's more to hear, including the thoughts and concerns of Crosstalk listeners.

It's Tuesday, April 9th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Somalian Muslims killed 6 Christian Kenyans Al-Shabab Islamic extremists are suspects in the killing of six Christian men in Somalia on Good Friday, March 29, reports International Christian Concern. Originating from Kenya, the six men were selling plastic goods and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Muslims in the Islamic town of Dhobley.  Please, pray for their families as they mourn the loss today. According to the Open Doors World Watch List, Somalia, Africa is the second most dangerous country worldwide in which to be a Christian. 11 Chinese hospitals suspended birthing operations The South China Morning Post reports that 11 major national hospitals have suspended birthing operations since last June — due to China's ongoing birth dearth. Total number of births across the country dropped to 9 million last year — get this — down from 18 million in 2016!   That's the lowest birth rate since accurate records were made available in the 1940s. China suffered a population loss of a half million people last year. At this rate, demographers estimate China will lose about 700,000,000 people or half their population over the next 80 years. Military buildup in Japan, China, and India Eastern nations are building up their respective military complexes. Japan's defense budget is expanding — a 16.5% budget increase over the last year.  Japan is inching towards a 2% GDP military expenditure, up from 0.9%  in the 1990s and early 2000s. China has also announced a 7.2% increase on its military expenditures for 2024. That's an officially released number of $236 billion — about double what it was in 2013. Even more significant, India's military spending has increased from $14 billion to $77 billion since 2000. Meantime, U.S. military spending has dropped from 7% of the GDP to about 3.5% of the Gross Domestic Product since 1980. 28-year-old depressed Dutch woman getting euthanized The Free Press reports on a 28-year-old Dutch woman who is “tired of living” and “depressed,” and will be euthanized by doctor's assistance. Zoraya ter Beek says she is “a little afraid of dying, because it's the ultimate unknown. We don't really know what's next—or is there nothing? That's the scary part.” Tragically, 138 Dutch people were killed or “euthanized” by a doctor who were committed on psychiatric grounds in the Netherlands last year, reports Dutch News.  Disturbingly, 5.4% of Dutch deaths are doctor-assisted suicides.  Trump on abortion: Leave it to the states Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate for the U.S. presidency, announced Monday that he would rather leave abortion legislation up to the states, instead of seeking a federal law protecting the lives of the unborn. Trump announced his position on Truth Social. Listen. TRUMP: “Many people have asked me what my position is on abortion and abortion rights, especially since I was proudly the person responsible for the ending of something that all legal scholars -- both sides -- wanted and, in fact, demanded be ended: Roe v. Wade. They wanted it ended. “It must be remembered that the Democrats are the radical ones on this position because they support abortion up to and even beyond the ninth month. The concept of having an abortion in the later months and even execution after birth, and that's exactly what it is. The baby is born, the baby is executed after birth is unacceptable. “My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it, from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land, in this case, the law of the state.” Trump also emphasized his allowance for killing the child in the cases of rape and incest. He places the priority on “the salvation of the nation” and winning elections, in his words “without which we will have nothing other than failure, death, and destruction." Biden wants to forgive more student debt before election Before November's presidential election, President Biden is attempting to squeeze in one more student loan forgiveness program which could impact 30 million college borrowers, reports Forbes.com. The new plan proposes to forgive accrued interest, and forgive loans for those earning less than $120,000 per year. Total student debt in the US tops $1.75 trillion, with an average debt of $28,950 — 92% of which are federal loans. Thus far, the President has managed to wipe out $143 billion in federal student loans. 2 Chronicles 19:7 says, “And [Jehoshophat] said to the judges, ‘Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the Lord, who is with you in the judgment. Wherefore now let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.'” Missouri, Michigan and Hawaii are targeting homeschoolers In the parental rights arena nationally, Missouri and Michigan state governments are proposing compulsory attendance laws which would lower the entry school age to 5 years of age. Plus, the Hawaiian government is proposing mandatory “wellness” visits from friendly Department of Education bureaucrats for families who choose to homeschool. Now, if you live in Missouri, Michigan, or Hawaii, please examine the suggested calls for action by the Homeschool Legal Defense Association. We have that linked in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. 114-year-old man died in VenezuelaAnd finally, the oldest man in the world has died. And finally, a Venezuelan named Juan Vicente Pérez was 114 years old. His 115th birthday was just next month. He was married to his wife, Ediofina, for 60 years until she died in 1997.  The couple had 11 children including 6 sons and 5 daughters.  He also enjoyed his 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.  Juan shared his secret for a long life with the Guinness Book of World Records. He said, “just work hard, rest on holidays, go to bed early, drink a glass of aguardiente (that's an alcohol) every day, love God, and always carry Him in your heart."  Proverbs 3:15-16 reminds us that “Wisdom is more precious than rubies. … Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Tuesday, April 9th in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. He illuminated how religion shapes expectations, reinforcing gender roles that depict women as inferior.Jimmy Jr. then underscored the clash between feminism and religious conservatism, citing an incident where a woman demands a God-centric discussion in the article. He also discussed challenges faced by Heather Stark and B in their effort to empower girls through the history of legendary women at homeschool conferences.Cindy critiqued homeschooling's unregulated nature, decrying it as a breeding ground for unscrupulous individuals and groups. She lamented the system's allowance for rampant capitalism and widespread suffering.Aaron challenged the perception of the Bible as an ultimate moral authority, urging critical examination of morally questionable teachings. Responding to Cindy's concerns about regulations, Aaron advocated for necessary safeguards to prevent exploitation and unethical practices, condemning the lack of regulation in homeschooling and highlighting the influence of lobbying groups like The Homeschool Legal Defense Association. In the article, Heather reflected on the disturbing presence of far-right political ideologies at homeschool conferences, expressing concerns about indoctrination. She questions the inclusion of right-wing political philosophy in a space intended for homeschooling.Jimmy Jr.'s expressed his views about right-wing hypocrisy, supporting small government only when it aligns with their views. Another concern being the infiltration of right-wing ideologies in homeschooling, emphasizing the dangers of indoctrination. The panelists commended Heather and her organization for challenging societal norms in their curriculum. Nearly 15 years ago, Uwe and Hannelore Romeike fled Germany in order to homeschool their children in the United States. Under Germany's education laws, the Romeikes were subject to severe financial penalties for attempting to homeschool. On a few occasions, police came to their home and escorted their children to school. In 2009, they moved to the U.S. and petitioned the government for asylum.    They've lived here since, mainly in Morristown, Tennessee. Never formally granted asylum, they were granted indefinite deferred action status in 2014 by the Obama administration. They've since added two children, their two oldest have married U.S. citizens, and they have even welcomed a grandchild.    Last month, during a “routine check-in,” the Romeikes were told they had to return to Germany. According to Home School Legal Defense Association attorney Kevin Boden:    "They were basically given four weeks to come back. They (were given) a report date in October. They (didn't) know what (was) going to happen in that meeting. They (didn't) know if they're going to be forced to leave. They (didn't) know if they're going to be taken into custody."    Given how long the family has been in the United States and how unconcerned the Biden administration seems to be about illegal immigrants pouring across the Southern border, it's difficult to make sense of why they would be so concerned about the Romeike family status now. After a significant amount of public pressure, the INS has given the family a one-year reprieve, but their story seems part of an increasing hostility to religious refugees on the part of the U.S. government.   According to a 2023 report from World Relief and Open Doors US, the number of religious refugees admitted to the U.S. has plummeted, though the number of Christians facing persecution around the world continues to climb. An estimated 360 million Christians live under threat of persecution and discrimination, an increase of 100 million in the last three years. Last year, the United States only resettled 25,465 refugees, excluding the Afghans and Ukrainians who entered the U.S. via a separate parole program. This number represents a dramatic reduction from pre-2017 levels when the U.S. resettled an average of over 80,000 people per year.  And, as the World Relief and Open Doors report outlines, the number of religious (including Christian) refugees from historically dangerous parts of the world have decreased even more sharply. In 2022, refugees from Eritrea, Iran, Myanmar, and Iraq were down “85 percent, 95 percent, 92 percent and 94 percent, respectively” compared to 2016 levels. Between 2016 and 2022, refugees from Burma (including most Rohingya) declined by 62%, total Christian arrivals by 70%, and Yezidis by 100%.  “America,” the author concludes, “is no longer the safe haven for displaced persons that it once was.”    Though refugee resettlement in the U.S. slowed to a trickle during the COVID-19 pandemic, the trend goes back earlier. In 2019,  I observed in a Breakpoint commentary that though the Trump administration had stalwartly defended religious liberty at home, it had shut down legal channels for religious—including Christian—refugees while trying to stop the crisis of illegal immigration.    Now, America faces a heightened crisis of illegal crossings due to the Biden administration's open border policies, especially on the southern border. However, fixing that problem should not include closing off all options for religious asylum seekers. Especially since the administration promised to specifically increase the number of religious refugees but instead arranged for  472,000 Venezuelans to come work in the U.S.    The strange targeting of the Romeike  family, along with an unaddressed crisis of green-card applications, which could see thousands of faith leaders in the U.S. sent home  after years of residency, suggests that the religious aspect of these stories may be an outsized factor.   Admittedly, reversing this trend now seems impossible in light of the war between Israel and Hamas. None of the surrounding Muslim nations are opening their borders to those seeking to flee the imminent ground assault of Gaza. And large, angry, and violent immigrant populations are protesting in many Western cities in support of the atrocities committed against Israel. Though it is possible to secure our borders and to properly vet and assist refugees facing religious persecution, the system will need to be rebuilt around completely different assumptions.  The current system invites mistreatment and exploitation. Encouraging the lawlessness of some while abandoning others, especially many who belong to what Paul called “the household of faith,” only feeds a narrative that America is becoming a more hostile place for religion, especially Christianity. That narrative is supported by more than enough evidence already.   This Breakpoint was co-authored by Kasey Leander. It's Monday, February 27th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. By Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com) Indonesian church shut down mid-worship Our persecution story today comes from Indonesia. On Sunday, February 19, authorities disbanded the congregation of the Kemah Daud Christian Church in Bandar Lampung in the middle of their worship service, reports International Christian Concern. John 4:23 says, “The true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.” The devil hates when Christ followers worship their Lord. Ironically, the forced closure of the church was contrary to Indonesian President Jokowi's recent appeal and undermined the Indonesian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of worship and religion for all.  In response to pushback from church leaders in this Muslim-majority nation, authorities granted the church a worship permit for the next two years while the building permit the church has submitted is being processed. Please pray for the protection and promotion of religious freedom in Indonesia. Pence and DeSantis boycott CPAC over homosexual controversy Neither former Vice President Mike Pence nor Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will appear at the Conservative Political Action Conference, reports ABC News. No doubt both likely presidential candidates are distancing themselves from Matt Schlapp, the chairman of CPAC, who has been accused of unwanted homosexual overtures.  According to a report from The Daily Beast, Schlapp "groped" and "fondled" a Herschel Walker staffer on October 19th on a drive back from an Atlanta bar.  The male staffer filed a lawsuit against Schlapp and his wife, Mercedes, seeking $9.4 million for sexual battery and defamation, reports Politico. Abortion Kill Pill could be declared illegal A pro-life, Christian federal judge in Texas, named Matthew Kacsmaryk, could single-handedly outlaw the abortion Kill Pill in all 50 states, reports Slate.com. A graduate of Abilene Christian University and the University of Texas School of Law, the 45-year-old Kacsmaryk served as Deputy General Counsel for First Liberty Institute, a conservative Christian legal group before President Donald Trump boldly nominated him in 2019 to serve as a United States district judge. The Washington Post reports that when Kacsmaryk was a 22-year-old law student, his 17-year-old sister got pregnant, and chose to place her baby with an adoptive married couple.  That solidified his belief that every pregnancy should be treasured. According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, the abortion Kill Pill now accounts for the deaths of 53% of pre-born babies in the womb. Beyond the death of the child, medication abortion has serious side effects.  They include fever, infection, pain, vomiting, diarrhea, feeling dizzy, a severe headache, heavy, prolonged bleeding for multiple weeks, incomplete abortion requiring surgical follow-up, short-lasting hot flashes, hemorrhage, blood clots, and possibly an undetected ectopic pregnancy, which is life-threatening. Not only did he shoot himself in the chest with a 12-gauge coach shotgun, but he tied an extension cord around his neck to ensure he would die by hanging. Contrary to initial reports that there was no gun found near the body at the Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Arkansas, there was indeed a gun 30 feet nearby. Officers determined that the gun was flung away from Middleton's body due to the recoil and angle off the ground. The former Clinton aide had ties to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Before he left politics in 1995, Middleton signed the sex fiend into the White House seven out of the 17 times he visited the residence. He also reportedly rode on Epstein's infamous “Lolita Express” jet. However, one report on RadarOnline.com suggests Middleton did not commit suicide, but that it might have been a homicide. Homeschooling up 30% Homeschooling saw a 30% increase in the 21-22 academic year while public school enrollment fell by more than 1.2 million students within the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, reports The Christian Post. The study from the Urban Institute found that private school enrollment increased by 4.3% between the fall of 2019 and the fall of 2021. And homeschool enrollment rose by 30%. Steven Duvall, director of research for the Home School Legal Defense Association, said, “We believe that homeschooling is a wonderful way to educate a child and that many hundreds of thousands of families made this same discovery during the pandemic.” Doctors continued CPR for 3 hours on toddler until life returned And finally, when 3-year-old Waylon Saunders arrived at the hospital, he was already legally dead and had been for a while. Found face-down in an icy backyard swimming pool, the Ontario, Canada toddler's body temperature was so low that paramedics' thermometers couldn't get a reading, and he had no pulse. Nevertheless, a team at Englehart Hospital in Petrolia, Ontario performed CPR for 3 hours without stopping, while simultaneously using other methods to warm his frozen body. Fortunately for Waylon they didn't stop, and after 3 hours of compressing his chest to artificially pump blood to his brain and other organs, Waylon's heart was restarted and kept on keeping on, reports the Good News Network. Dr. Janice Tijssen, the director of the pediatric critical care unit at Children's Hospital in Ontario, explained to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation how they saved Waylon's life. TIJSSEN: “There's not a lot you can do when a child is as cold as he was. In fact, he was so cold, we couldn't even get a temperature read on him. So, we just knew that he was very cold and needed to be rewarmed. So that was one of the main tasks that the team in Petrolia had to do and the other was providing high quality CPR.” Waylon's mother, Gillian, said she owes a lifetime of gratitude to the care team.  She said, “They're heroes. I told them that they're God's soldiers.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, February 27th, in the year of our Lord 2023. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.
