House music at its best! Let Dave Baker take you on a journey of discovery and aural pleasure as he brings you the hottest and freshest funky, deep and tech house releases every week. This past week has been amazing for house music and there are so many tracks that didn't make the cut (check the Spotify playlist via djdavebaker.com for more tunes). However, the 15 that made it in will lift you like nothing else, including 7 promos getting an official release over the next few weeks. We have the amazing Chaney with more emotive vocals; Sean Finn and CASSIMM teaming up again with more Latin beats after their success with Pasilda last year; a string of songs that should be familiar to you; and rounding off with the awesome ‘Miss You' to finish on a melodic high. Whatever your current mood, this will take you to another level! All tracks released on January 13 unless shown below. Happy Saturday! Party Favorz is delivering volume 2 of the Millennial Dance Classics series containing many of the biggest dance songs from 1999 - 2002. As discussed in our first post for volume 1 — There are many familiar songs for those vested in today's club scene. "9PM (Til I Come)" by ATB, "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay, and "Around the World (La La La La La" by ATC have been the basis for several monster hits in the past couple of years. The massive "Blue (I'm Good)" by David Guetta & Bebe Rexha lifts directly from "Blue (Da Be Dee)" by Eiffel 65 or as we used to call it "Blue (I'm in Need of a Guy)" is also featured in this set. "Pasilda" by Afro Medusa has been reworked a million times since its release as has "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire. Of course, the Phats & Small 1999 remix kicked it all off and is also included. Some of my all-time favorite songs are also included like "Touch Me" by Rui Da Silva (which was just recently reworked), "Addicted To Bass" by Puretone, and "Big Love" by Pete Heller. Truth be told, I love everything in this set. Even the quirky "Love Story" by Layo & Bushwacka! featuring a vocal sample by the great Nina Simone is a massive winner. There's a lot of diversity including House, Trance, and Progressive House to keep things interesting. There were many DJ names you will see throughout these two series. Other than the big room names I dropped last month, Knee Deep, Robbie Rivera, Roger Sanchez, and Illicit (to name a few) were all in high demand during this period. Robbie is still cranking out massive tracks to this day and all were masters at their craft. I hope everyone's enjoying the cooler days after the excessive heat we endured the last several months. Even so, things will be heating up again with the release of our annual HW series next week, which I've already begun work on. Until then...ENJOY! 1º Especial dedicado a 1999. Un año donde la música house conseguía lo imposible: ser un estilo mainstream en las radio formulas con discos como “Lady” de Modjo o "Pasilda" de Afromedusa.
Happy Friday! Yeah I mean, I know you didn't actually go to work today but maybe you're working from home, or maybe you're just at home wishing you could work. Either way, it's almost the weekend and I'm here to help bring that vibe a little early. This one is a party. I know I said it was gonna be SXSW but honestly, I'm procrastinating that podcast by making this podcast, and maybe another one too? Eh whatev, more music for y'all! SXSW 2020 Top 50 (actually like 58 or so) is up on Spotify now so if you want an early sneak peak into the event, that was in the past but that didn't actually happen, you can get after it at ActiveListener. Lots of good tunes there. But also, so many good ones here today, ready, for you, right now! Whether at this moment, it's you at home solo or it's your household traveling through time solo, this mix is meant to bring the party. I was totally feeling the party vibe while I recorded it so I'm right there with you across space and time. 24 house tinged jams squished into 77 minutes with an Easter egg for the fans. So much to love here. Have fun with this. Resuming my Trance Mission with “The 138 bpm Drop” Balearic Trance Journey. Drop both your inhibitions and your gear and let the journey start! If you do not like real (but frenetic at times) bangin’ trance, I strongly suggest you give this one a miss… yet, you will have foregone quite a journey… Firstly, I have to thank Lars for giving me the inspiration to put this set together. Lars has been supporting this space for quite a while and has always commented (positively or not) when he sees a new upload. Recently, Lars contacted me when, in between my hiatus and completely uninterested with the current offering of traditional house, I uploaded the 2 Quanta of Solace. Once again he gave me the will-power to revisit that old love of mine, Trance, Progressive House or what I call Trouse. In the past, I have always chided from high bpm Trance. Anything over 130 and I would either never get there or prefer not to include it in any set. Partly for I felt it was frenetic and partly for I assumed I (and by extension) you were too old for it. The algorithm I use to choose a playlist in preparation for my sets is programmed by design to nicely keep tracks, keys, bpm and flavours in a tight range. And since I like to start slow to build up, I very rarely get to reach anything over 130 bpm. There is vast blog space on the Internet dedicated to the question “ Who is afraid of 138 bpm Trance?” There is even a label called “ Who is afraid of 138 bpm?”…. Well, in many ways, I am! This being said, in order to continue the Trance Mission and be true to the genre, I always knew I would eventually have to get over that fear.. I worked without the algorithm and here we are. Set is 80% over 132 bpm by DESIGN! Vielen Danke Herr Lars. This one (good or not) is for YOU! Sorry for all the florish but had all those dits and felt like trying them out.. Another reason to resume the mission, was a request I got a few weeks ago to play for Mardi Gras for a LGBTY party in Sydney. The request was flattering, yet due to not being in the right headspace at all and natural performance jitters, I chose not to consider it. I told the promoter that I would send him a demo of what I thought would be the right journey for such an event for the boys. Well, here it is! As a general comment, this set is very ornate. In many ways , it is more a case of Xtian trying to take stock of what he can do and tediously learn new tricks than anything else. But along the way I am putting out there all the new edits and mashups I have been toiling on, which might just be a bit TOO MUCH in one go considering my modicum of talent but it feels so good to have them out there and await your reaction and so good to have them safely saved and backed up on my HD for a future live set! As an added bonus (for me): after the mashup of Silence and Missing from a few years back, I have now semi-cracked a mashup and counter-mashup of Finally and Silence.. Yippee, I can finally rest. Obviously, not every track is fresh and current. For Trance is all about anthems and there are at the most 3 or 4 a year! I did try my best to include a few I never played before. As I had used a few current great tracks in the two previous Quanta and did not want to repeat myself ad nauseam, I decided to try out all the edits I have been working on in the past and had lost when my library got corrupted. Call it a bulk early release, other would call it premature ej...... but sorry I just had to.. Even more satisfying, almost all tracks are new Xtian Edits of mostly unkown remixes and , for better or for worse, you get the added bonus of a few of mashups I am quite happy with. Now close your eyes, imagine you bought a ticket for Ibiza, got yourself sorted and you are ready for a genuine balearic Trance journey.. DO NOT GET AFRAID WHEN IT GOES TO 138.. It is meant to! Motorcycle Highlights: From 1998, "Who Do You Love" from Jose Padilla, Chicane was a baby and yet was given the honour to remix the Cafe del Mar legend.. great Balearic track, which took me ages to find again.. "Kiss Me Here", old Tritonal fav of mine with a great built up and Christine de Soto amazing vocals. This year will see a LOT of "Saltwater" remixes as I think it is the 20th anniversary. I can't wait to see what comes as I believe that "Saltwater" is one track that has yet to get THE DEFINITIVE REMIX but in the meantime, I found this 2009 one give this anthem a bit of a kick. A very recent track from Above and Beyond "Treasure", DO NOT MISS.. Zoe Johnston whose voice you will recognize is just amazing. Great melodic trance. Then starts a "Silence" extravaganza.. None of those remixes are run of the mill ones, most are bootleg and ALL are my personal private edits and mashups. I obviously have overdone it. But now I have those files secured and backed up and I am ready to drop them any time.. Starts at 38:00, Mashup Silence/Finally (41:19) to end around 46:16. "Koori" from Vitodito.. Japanese Trance.. Just because it is japanese.. "Second Chance" from Blood , Grooves and Kikkis.. Do not love the track but I actually think I did a fair job with the "Silence" mashup (starts at around 58:32). A unknow trance remix of You've Got the Love" got the mashup treatment with "How Deep is Your Love" at !:04:54 Could not have a balearic Trance journey without some latin rhythm and hence brought in a new remix of "Pasilda" from Helena Legend. Followed by another anthem but a completely new take with Kings of Tomorrow "Finally" in a totally different colour courtesy of Frank Caro and a private Xtian Edit, which I can live with and will use in live sets.. Tracks starts at 1:20:20 mashup at 1:22:02) Onto a Chicane medley, with a "Poppihola" mashup with Dajae's "Everyday My Life", which almost works.. So close but another one I will drop in live sets.. (Mashup starts at 1:29:40) Do not miss "An Angel's Love" from Alex M.O.R.P.H. ANTHEM... I had missed this absolute gem from 2011.. When Trance meets Classical I am completely in my element.. LOVE IT! Finishing with "As the Rush Comes" from Motrocycle, another anthem, but presenting my private edit, true to the original but if I may say maybe even more potent.. (Starts at 1:46:45) A bientôt I still have a Quantum to post but might take a little while. Xtian

If you're hankering for that blend of melodious nostalgia and floor-filling beats, Volume 4 of this series titled "Get Up n' Dance" has got you covered. Let's not waste time hyping up what's already iconic; if you're not familiar with the tracks listed here, perhaps this compilation isn't tailored for your musical taste. But for the connoisseurs of this golden age of house music, this compilation is essentially a time capsule. We kick off with Sean Biddle's "Get Up 'n' Dance," masterfully remixed by Alex Romano, which energizes the set right from the get-go. Remember Mylo's "In My Arms"? The King Unique Re-Edit revitalized this classic, ensuring its legacy within the genre. Speaking of legacy, Earth, Wind & Fire vs. Phats & Small's "September '99," boasting the Mutant Disco Vocal Mix, needs no introduction. It's a track that encapsulates the fusion of past and present, traditional and modern. Then there's "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige where Moto Blanco brought R&B and house together in an unforgettable manner. On the same note, Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love," also given the Moto Blanco treatment, found its footing not just in pop charts but also in dance clubs around the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfIlNeoNeGU Not to overlook the international influence, Afro Medusa's "Pasilda" in its Illicit Mix and Bob Sinclar's "Love Generation" featuring Gary Pine in a Full Intention Club Mix, underscore the global palate this genre catered to during its heyday. The times had undeniably changed; yet, the essence of these tracks, as captured through various remixes and edits, reverberates in today's dance culture. Whether it's a Mac Project Club Mix of Laura Izibor's "From My Heart To Yours" or the ATFC Club Mix of Onephatdeeva's "Bad Habit," featuring Lisa Millett, the impact is palpable and enduring. So, if your playlists have been feeling a bit stale lately, here's your chance to imbue them with some time-honored vigor. Stay tuned to Party Favorz as we unfurl more from this treasure trove of 00s House Music Classics. Until the next time...ENJOY! Уильям Джеймс Адамс - владелец студии звукозаписи и продюсерской компании «will.i.am music group», креативный директор компании Intel. Вскоре они переименовали себя, назвавшись «Atban Klann» (в сокращении от «A Tribe Beyond a Nation»). В 2003 году пишет песню, прославившуюся на весь мир, «Where Is the Love?». В августе 2012 года марсоход «Кьюриосити» передал на Землю песню «Reach for the Stars», которую will.i.am написал специально для этого события. Это была первая песня, отправленная на Землю с другой планеты.

2001 was the year I personally bottomed-out in all aspects of my life. Even so, it's chock-full of memories good and bad with some outrageous stories that are better left to a book. I will say that with all the chaos surrounding my life at the time, there were some shining moments. In particular, it was the year I met Rick who was dating a friend. George (the friend) decided he didn't really like Rick. Personally, I never thought anything about him until after they broke up. Rick started calling me to go out and one thing just lead to another. As the saying goes, one man's trash is another's treasure; well Rick was my treasure and still is today. Most importantly, 2001 was an amazing year for club music. In fact, some of the big names that were competing for club floor attention were getting some hefty competition from the likes of John Creamer and Stephane K. Their remix of Iio's "Rapture" a year earlier set the stage for a multitude of number ones that would carry them through the year and beyond. Their style was very progressive which as of today has been pushed to the underground. In fact, there are several prog club hits this particular year, which is strange because you don't get that much hitting the charts these days. Speaking of the underground, Celeda had her first number one after Peter Rauhofer took her and the song by the same title all the way to the top. Additionally, Illicit (who I still am clueless about) made a strong showing the previous year with their re-work of the massive "Pasilda" and went on to have two additional number ones with Madison Avenue's "Who the Hell Are You" and Stevie Nicks' "Planets of the Universe". Granted, Tracy Young turned in quite an excellent mix for the latter, but let's face it; Stevie's voice doesn't really lend itself to the dancefloor but Illicit's magic proved the song had some legs by turning it into a floor stomper. Other notables included Kosheen's Hide U. I'm talking about bodies movin, not stop groovin, asses shakin, floors are breakin, queens are freakin, hoe's are creepin, divas flowin, everybody knows to Stand up throw your hands to the sky Stand up, wo wo, you got to stand up! Now folks, before everyone starts ragging on me, I just want to let you know that Suzanne's version also makes an appearance in a later mix; so don't start shooting off about who had the better version. While I am partial to Suzanne Palmer's take, I think both are equally outstanding. We also got a preview of Ms. Jeanie Tracy's "cha-cha heels" in the Rosabel anthem "The Power". It wouldn't be until three years later that Rosabel and Jeanie teamed up again to bring a full song dedicated to the cha-cha. Of course, what would 2001 be without Thunderpuss? Barry Harris and Chris Cox put out their one and only dance album featuring the number one "Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag" and outstanding anthem "Stand Up" featuring Latanza Waters. Funny thing is that I didn't even realize that Mobin Master remade that song last year. It was featured on my Electro-funk 2008 v6 and I gave it a five-star rating then. I guess it just shows you a good song is still a good song, no matter who does it. Finally, Thunderpuss also delivered the massive Janet Jackson cut "All For You". With all the prog stuff hitting the charts, it was always nice to lighten things up with some more commercial takes of a pop hit, and boy was this a BIG one! The other big one was Pink's "Get the Party Started". The strange thing about that song is that it never charted because LaFace Records never authorized any mixes. Frankly, I think that was a huge miscalculation on their part. I guess they were just acting pissy because she moved away from the R&B nature of her first album and into a more rock-oriented approach for her follow-up "Misunderstood". I'm certain their minds changed after it went on to become a massive hit and sell a ton of copies worldwide. Regardless,

As I wrap up this last set from 2000, I can't help but think about all the people and places I've left behind to pursue a better life for myself. Unfortunately, things don't always work out the way I envision, they seldom do. As I previously stated, you have to remember the worst to get to the happy memories in your life. Certainly completing this mix has brought back many of those memories and if anything, it has been cathartic. People often ask "why do I even bother?" Other than the fact that I have this unquenchable thirst for house music, I frankly don't know. It certainly isn't for the fame and fortune; and it definitely isn't for the love I get back from you guys, because, with the exception of a handful of you, that just doesn't ever happen. The truth is when I was pulling in 50 - 60 hours a week at work with another hour and a half on the road back and forth, I was still getting up at the crack of dawn to squeeze in some mixing. Then I'd burn a CD every day just to have something to listen to on the way to work. It's what fueled me and still does. As these days get shorter, colder and darker (thanks to our idiotic daylight savings policy that fuck's with my sleep patterns) I can't help but think where Rick and I will be next year. I just got back from one of my 'head-clearing road trips' I take from time to time. That's where I hop in my car and just drive to wherever it takes me. Sometimes I get lost, but I always find my way back home. Actually, I've been doing that since I was sixteen when I would get up in the middle of the night, take the car and just drive. It's comforting in a weird sort of way, that I can't explain; hitting the highway and leaving the lights of the city behind offers some sort of peace that I often can't find among the busy streets lights and the whirling sounds of sirens, typical of living in a big city. Though I would never trade that in for small-town America again, it's nice to just escape from the world every once in a while. With gas prices dropping significantly, it makes it even easier to justify (though that never stopped me). However, don't say anything to the oil companies, or they may raise prices again...LOL. I do want to mention that one of our readers was recently hospitalized but is now out. His partner posted on his Facebook page that he's doing better, but will need some time to recover. For those of you that believe in the power of prayer, please keep him in your thoughts. And finally, about this mix. While you still have your big room, hard-hitting power spins in this final mix, you also get a decent sampling of other styles that were moving the floor. From the electro-funk rock of Groove Armada's classic "I See You Baby" to the Latin flavors of Afro Medusa's "Pasilda" (watch out for the amazing ATFC remix that just came out or even hunt down the equally hot Seamus Haji mix from a couple of years back), my tastes didn't move in any single direction. 2000 was the year that brought us one of my all-time favorite uplifting positively speaking hotties, Georgie Porgie. His "Life Goes On" was a top-five club hit and laid the groundwork for a series of number one club hits that have continued to this day. It was also the year that Olivia Newton-John was having sort of a comeback. Finally, she was able to gather her early country/pop hits and compile them with the rest of her catalog for a complete offering of her repertoire ever. Being a gay icon, you know someone had to go back and serve up some remixes. I remember dropping Victor Calderone's remix of "Hopelessly Devoted To You" during Last Splash; with its pounding signature beats, it drops about 3 minutes into the song leaving the whole floor looking dumbfounded. Then the unmistakable vocals come in and everyone just goes bananas. That was pure magic. While I was originally going to close this set with the massive "One More Time" by Daft Punk, I decided that Olivia would be more fitting.
