He knows if you've been naughty, he knows if you've been nice. But according to Red One, Santa doesn't punish you. Are You Just Watching? Episode 156: Red OneMusic by Henry Jackman. For the full show notes please visit areyoujustwatching.com/156Consider helping out our fellow CPC member recover from Hurricane Helene. Tim and Eve engage in a thoughtful discussion about the moral implications of the movie Red One, emphasizing the contrasting themes of belief and skepticism through the lens of a modern Christmas story. They dissect how the characters embody various aspects of morality, particularly focusing on the figure of Santa as a benevolent force and Krampus as a representation of judgment and punishment. Tim points out the film's heavy reliance on adult humor and language, which may detract from its appeal to younger audiences, while Eve underscores the emotional depth found in the character of Jack, illustrating his struggle with fatherhood and personal redemption. The hosts reference scripture, including Romans 2:1-11, to frame their conversation about the consequences of sin and the importance of true repentance. Ultimately, the episode serves as a critique of the film while also prompting listeners to consider the broader themes of faith, morality, and the true meaning of Christmas, encouraging them to reflect on their own beliefs in the context of a world filled with skepticism.Takeaways: The film Red One explores themes of redemption and the consequences of our actions, particularly through the relationship between Jack and his son Dylan. Throughout the discussion, it was emphasized that true redemption requires acknowledging one's mistakes and seeking to improve, as seen in Jack's character arc. The portrayal of Santa Claus in modern culture often detaches from his original Christian roots, leading to a misunderstanding of the holiday's true meaning. In the podcast, the speakers expressed how the naughty and nice list concept is a simplified view of morality that doesn't reflect biblical teachings on sin. The discussion highlighted how skepticism can cloud one's understanding of truth, much like Jack's initial disbelief in Santa and its implications. Ultimately, the episode serves as a reminder to focus on the true meaning of Christmas, which is about Christ's birth and salvation. My latest Quantum Tech Pod with Peter Chapman, President and CEO, of leading quantum computing company, IonQ, is live! Peter had an atypical childhood. He grew up near the Johnson Space Center in Houston because his father was an astronaut who used to fly over the house in his trainer jet. In high school, Peter went to study with the well-known cognitive scientist Marvin Minsky at the AI lab at MIT because he wasn't being challenged enough in school. He said that IonQ chose ions as qubits because they are all the same and perfectly identical. But he also said they may not be the modality of choice in 50 years – new approaches may emerge. We discussed the new facility IonQ just opened outside Seattle to provide additional cloud access to clients and more room for their engineering team. Peter also feels that at some point, we may not be able to put more qubits on a single chip, which might mean a quantum solution that uses multiple chips networked together, kind of the way we do blade servers in supercomputers today. Check out my wide-ranging conversation with Peter! The “Quantum Tech Pod” podcast, hosted by Christopher Bishop from Inside Quantum Technology, offers a deep dive into the rapidly evolving world of quantum technology. Christopher, an industry expert, engages with leading figures in the field, discussing the latest developments, breakthroughs, and challenges in quantum computing, communication, sensing, and cryptography. The podcast is an informative platform for experts and enthusiasts, providing insights into how quantum technology shapes the future and its implications across various industries. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just curious about quantum technology, “Quantum Tech Pod” delivers engaging conversations illuminating this cutting-edge field.

Jermayn Parker and Dan Fraser are joined by Kevin Patrick as they go over the 75 years of Frew. It is a fascinating chat and we guarantee that you will learn something new!Kevin Patrick is a great researcher and he has dug up a lot of information for us like stories about Ron Forsyth, Lawford Richardson, Jack Eisen and Peter Watson the original creators of Frew. We learn about one important person who to most has been forgotten about is Sylvia Eisen and we explore her importance to Frew history and the family connections between her and Yaffa Syndicate. The significance of this connection continues all through out until the 1980's including how they were key in helping the Team Fantomen stories become apart of the Frew publishing schedule.Another great story you will learn about is how Frew Publications almost lost the license in the late 1980's and how it took a last minute stand to ensure they continued the comic. Kevin also was able to dig up some sales figures for issue #1, from the 1950's, 1970's and the 2010's.We would love your own answers on these hot seat questions we asked towards the end of the podcast:Best thing Frew has ever done? What is their biggest impact / legacy? What is next for Frew?Where will Frew be in 5 years time? What do Frew need to do to continue publishing the Phantom? How do they reach the next generation of phans? You can email us your answers at chroniclechamber@gmail.com or chat with us via our social media profiles with your feedback at Facebook, Twitter and or Instagram. Composer Peter Chapman talks about his music for the Netflix comedy Workin' Moms, which just aired its 7th and final season in April. Peter worked with composer/singer Maylee Todd to create music for the series. The music has this energetically fresh, crisp and clean vibe, although there are many examples of grit and grime as well. We chat about that, we talk about his work on Guacamelee and Guacamelee 2. He did the music for Wynonna Earp, and under his pseudonym Coins, created a viral album of Beastie Boys remixes using only Daft Punk samples called Daft Science. I loved the chat and I love his music.
