Hannah White & Stephen Shiell work together as Blanc Sceol (meaning white temporary shelter). They are certified Deep Listening® practitioners, a discipline that applies meditation principles to sound, developed by the innovative composer Pauline Oliveros. In addition to facilitating Deep Listening® workshops and Sound Walks, Blanc Sceol perform variously, describing their work as ‘Psychosonographic, expressing our experience of place, with field recordings, self-created instruments, found objects, voice and text.’ Past performances have involved demonstrations of Palaeolithic instruments, marauding animal choirs and fishing for sounds at the wetlands. Jeff Weirdo Jacobson is a Seattle-based artist and muralist who has become one of the most recognized urban visionaries of our time. His work is known for being hyper-realistic. Jeff has focused on a wide range of work, including a once-in-a-lifetime project collaboration with Russell Wilson that caught my attention in an ESPN article back in January. Jeff created a pair of custom graffiti-style cleats for Russ to represent his Why Not You Foundation, urging kids to chase their biggest goals and dreams. (Link to article below)Jeff has developed a keen and intense focus on leaving behind a story of what life on Earth was like for future generations to ponder. We got into a great discussion about how we as individuals, and humanity as a whole, have been effected by social media, and how he foresees, and attempts to capture in his work, a world in Post-Internet Dystopia.https://www.weirdocultmurals.com/https://whynotyoufdn.org/latest/2019/12/6/my-cause-my-cleats

My goal is to show what generalists can do. Common sense has become uncommon. Pre-Internet media (FM radio, network tv, magazines and film) created a viable pop culture that gave us a common symbolic language to represent different aspects within a community. Post Internet we are too seperated and thrown into digital ghettos like Facebook as pawns in a culture war. I stead, we need to wage a digital self publishing revolution replacing consumerism with conscious co-creation using decentralized open source tools outside the corporate control grid. Join me as I learn how to make money providing valuable goods and services on and offline as well as veing the fhange we want to be instead of be divided and conquered. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/chadwarren.me/support
Laura is back! Today she's giving me a glimpse into the world of Post-Internet Art. Looking at art that hasn't made the history books yet is uncharted territory for all of us. What will stand the test of time and how will we remember this era? Laura shows me how artists are responding to and being shaped by the internet in their art.

In this episode Liam and Stephen discuss the internet and the post-internet, millenials and post-millenials, multi-modal culture and digitial utopias...and a little bit of music too (including Holly Herndon, a still from whose 'Chorus' can be seen above). The discussion is in response to Michael Waugh's '"My laptop is an extension of my memory and self": Post-Internet identity, virtual intimacy and digital queering in online popular music', published in Vol. 36, Issue 2, of Popular Music. Research in the Round this episode covers everything from Steven Shaviro's Digital Music Videos to the Kyoto Prize and Susan McClary and Robert Walser's new endowment.
This is one of the papers from our 2016 Annual Conference, the Future of Phenomenology. Information and the full conference booklet can be found here on our society website. Abstract Sam Riviere’s 2015 collection “Kim Kardashian’s Marriage” is an example of Post-Internet poetry. Post-internet poetry is the practice of using Web content as the basis of poetry. This paper will attempt to show that a Heideggerian analysis can shed light on contemporary texts in a way that renews Heidegger’s poetic thought and calls it into question in the light of new poetic practices. Specifically, Rivierie’s collection will be considered in terms of Heidegger’s opposing accounts of both technology and poetry. Social media is often understood in terms of enframing and thus it contributes to the “extreme danger” of the information age and the marginalization of art. However, this danger is accompanied by a saving power. Can a collection like Rivierie’s succeed in make the ‘danger’ of social media explicit?

If you’ve ever doubted that photography is a multi-faceted endeavor, this episode should cure you of that delusion. Here at B&H, we deal with the nuts and bolts of photography—we can talk f/stops, megapixels, composition, and classic cameras with the best of ’em, but for today’s podcast, we clean ourselves up to chat with two leading figures from the art and theoretical side of photography. Roxana Marcoci, Senior Curator in the Museum of Modern Art’s Department of Photography and the adroit, multi-talented Stephen Mayes join us to discuss Ocean of Images, MoMA’s most recent iteration of its venerable New Photography exhibition series. This impressive gathering of photographers and artists sparks themes regarding the proliferation of images, the fluidity of photography, and the ever-evolving interpretation of how photography fits into the world of art. Strap on your thinking caps. Guests: Roxana Marcoci and Stephen Mayes
