Josh Sigurdson explains the last year of World Alternative Media and why things have been so chaotic. Neither mainstream nor mainstream alternative media, WAM is attacked more than most. From attempting to report on the farmer protests in France to getting ghosted and sabotaged by countless activists at the last second in both the UK and The Netherlands while working on a 15 Minute City documentary. Things have been tough. It got far worse in August of 2023 when an arrest was made. Despite being innocent of charges, the allegation itself is beyond absurd. Arizona is a zero tolerance state where brushing your teeth could land you in jail if you drive. Facing 8 months in prison and essentially banned from the United States didn't help. Legal fees hurt us dramatically. Prices in Puerto Vallarta Mexico made it worse. Giving up our home and moving overseas waiting on a visa only for the visa to not be possible added to things. We are strong. We are not victims. We are however heavily attacked and unpopular to both mainstream and mainstream alternative media audiences. We hate asking for help, but not having the funding that other alt medias get by towing a narrative, we have to admit that we do indeed need help from our amazing audience. If you can't, please don't. We understand times are tough for a lot of people. Only help if it's feasible for you. Thank you to all of those who've stuck with us through so much. There is an occasional audio artifact in this one I couldnt remove, its not constant or very annoying but...fty its there. I just added an event that is happening very soon (9-11th) in Texas, The Texas Al-Anon Alateen Conference details here: https://scast.us/texalateen Update on the discussion survey from the last week, I was surprised by how many people responded (thank you for doing that) the vast majority were in favor of it, so I am going to move forward with it. It will be a private forum, that was in the lead by quite a bit followed by discord then a facebook group and all the rest after that. It surprised me a bit I was thinking it would be discord but it was a distant second. It will take me a couple of weeks to get it set up, forums have a million settings to tweak and Ill make it as private as I can. I will let you know as soon as its ready, again thank you. Herschel Alan Weisfeld was born March 14, 1961, in McAllen, Texas along the southern border just across the Rio Grande River from Reynosa, Mexico, and graduated from public school in 1979. While in high school he studied real estate and received his Texas Real Estate salesman's license as soon as he turned 18 and his Real estate broker's license at the age of 23. He received a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a concentration in accounting from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1983.He moved to Dallas Texas in the spring of 1984 where he built a self-directed real estate investment company where he still owns and manages a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate rental properties. He came out to his family in the fall of 1984 and today is single and breeds the national dog of Mexico, of which he has 8, and shares these fine miniature hairless Xoloitzcuintli who is just as passionate about the breed as was Freda Khalo and Diego Rivera who brought attention to this 3500-year-old breed that the Aztecs held in high esteem. He also spent decades engaged in the cultural, political, and civic communities by giving of both his time and resources of which the list is endless. He has received countless awards and recognitions from art, and historic preservation to homelessness sitting on many boards, commissions, and task forces both in the US and Mexico. In 2003 while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta Mexico he bought a small home on a mountainside overlooking the romantic zone and assembled three additional adjoining properties where he designed and built Hacienda Herchito which includes six fully furnished rental apartments along with his private residence which was designed as a boutique hotel but occupied as his private home. These acquisitions were astute moves before the word got out about PV and the extensive condo explosion took place.Today Herschel is once again working on a new construction project which is an assemblage of six properties on a higher mountaintop that will be a home with gardens unlike anything that can be found in the romantic zone today so that his dogs will have plenty of room to roam and is known as La Casa Nuevo de La Familia de Yoli y Temo.Puerto Vallarta Quick FactsPopulation: 319,000Geography: Puerto Vallarta is a coastal city in Mexico, located in the state of Jalisco. Welcome everyone. I've changed the format of the episode a little bit this time for you. This will be a sort of an audio documentary of my trip down to Puerto Vallarta Mexico in December of 2022 with Vern Powell and friends for a clinic that they host down there. The music you hear in the background is from a really cool cat that we met on a catamaran tour. Vern was kind enough to invite the Mrs and me down to Puerto Vallarta with his crew to interview many of the folks giving the clinic as well as many of the folks who attend the La Clinica de Herraje Puerto Vallarta 2022 every year.
