This is the fourth episode in the five-part series The Corridor, following five independent encounter accounts across five decades along the same north-south ridgeline running from the Cohutta Wilderness in northern Georgia into the mountains of eastern Tennessee.Part Four marks a sharp departure from the first three episodes. Where Herschel, Karen, and Marcus each experienced gradual encounters that unfolded over days or weeks in remote backcountry settings, this story happens in a matter of seconds on a public road with a van full of witnesses. In the summer of twenty-eleven, a youth pastor named David was driving a fifteen-passenger church van loaded with teenagers home from a summer retreat on a two-lane highway that cuts through the valley at the heart of the corridor. It was late and most of the kids were asleep. Something stepped out of the tree line and into the road directly in the path of the van. It was not a deer and it was not a bear. The van's headlights struck it at mid-torso, meaning whatever walked onto that road was tall enough that a beam mounted two and a half feet off the ground was hitting it at the chest. The van made impact hard enough to spin the vehicle off the road and into a ditch. Airbags deployed. When David climbed out to assess the damage, the thing was standing at the edge of the tree line watching the van. It did not appear injured. It did not flee. It stood there, then withdrew into the timber on its own terms. The episode is built around multiple perspectives.David provides the primary account, describing the seconds before and after the impact and what he saw at the tree line. Two of the teenagers who were in the van that night, now adults in their late twenties, independently corroborated his description of the figure's size, posture, and behavior. A local tow truck driver who responded to the call adds a detail none of the others knew — he had pulled three other vehicles out of the same quarter-mile stretch of highway within the previous year, each with similar front-end damage consistent with striking something large and upright at road level. The episode connects back to the series through geography and behavior. The highway where the impact occurred crosses through the same valley described by Herschel in Part One, overlooked by the fire road Karen maintained in Part Two, and visible from the ridge saddle where Marcus observed the clearcut in Part Three.Despite the sudden and violent nature of this encounter compared to the slow escalations in earlier episodes, the behavioral pattern holds — the thing did not panic, did not run, and appeared to control the moment of withdrawal the same way it controlled the moment of contact in every previous story.Have you experienced a Bigfoot sighting, Sasquatch encounter, Dogman experience, UFO sighting, or any unexplained cryptid or paranormal event deep in the woods? This is the second episode in a five-part series called The Corridor, following five separate encounter accounts submitted by five unconnected people across five different decades, all describing experiences along the same north-south ridgeline running from the Cohutta Wilderness in northern Georgia up through the mountains of eastern Tennessee. In Part Two, a woman named Karen shares an account from the summer of nineteen ninety-four. Karen was a seasonal employee with the United States Forest Service, assigned to maintain a decommissioned fire road along a ridgeline in the eastern part of Polk County, Tennessee. The road had been built decades earlier for timber access and fire suppression but had fallen into disuse, and Karen's job was to keep it from washing out entirely — clearing drains, cutting brush, removing blowdowns. She worked alone, driving a Forest Service pickup to the ridge each morning and spending six to eight hours on the road before heading home. The nearest paved road was about seven miles out by dirt track, and radio reception on the ridge was unreliable at best.Over the course of three weeks, Karen documented a series of findings that she logged in a field notebook with times, coordinates, and measurements. During her first week she discovered multiple hardwood trees snapped between six and nine feet above the ground, some with tops wedged into adjacent trees and at least one with a spiral fracture indicating the trunk had been twisted rather than broken by wind or ice. In her second week she began encountering a powerful organic smell at the same GPS coordinates on the road every afternoon, arriving consistently around four o'clock and dissipating within ten to fifteen minutes. At a creek crossing near the smell location she found bipedal tracks in soft mud measuring nineteen inches from heel to toe and roughly seven inches across the ball, with visible toe impressions and no claw marks, spaced in a walking pattern with an estimated stride of four and a half feet. In her third week she discovered handprints pressed into a clay bank alongside the road — large, with long fingers and a clear opposing thumb, significantly bigger than her own hand. The episode builds to the night Karen got a flat tire on the road after dark during her final week on the assignment. Alone, seven miles from pavement, with no cell phone and no radio reception, she knelt beside the truck with a lug wrench and a headlamp to change the tire. While she was working, she heard bipedal footsteps approaching on the gravel road from the north — steady, heavy, two-legged. The footsteps stopped approximately forty feet away and then began pacing back and forth across the road for roughly ten minutes. When Karen stood up, the footsteps stopped. Moments later she heard a single long exhale from the timber on the uphill side of the road, originating from above her own head height and close enough to hear clearly. She got in the truck and drove out on the spare without looking back.he episode also covers Karen's thirty years of silence about the experience, her decision to finally share her account after hearing similar stories on the show, and the behavioral parallels between her encounter and Herschel's account from Part One — including the gradual escalation over days rather than a single sudden event, the feeling of being watched before anything overt occurred, the biological silence that accompanied the closest contact, and the sense that whatever was present controlled the terms and timing of the encounter.Have you experienced a Bigfoot sighting, Sasquatch encounter, Dogman experience, UFO sighting, or any unexplained cryptid or paranormal event deep in the woods? This is the first episode in a five-part series called The Corridor. Over the past eight months, five separate people submitted encounter stories to the show, each from a different decade, none of them connected to one another in any way. When their accounts were mapped, every one of them described experiences along the same north-south ridgeline running from the Cohutta Wilderness in northern Georgia up through the mountains of eastern Tennessee.A narrow valley cuts between two parallel ridges through the heart of this stretch, and every submitter described it independently — the terrain, the quiet, the feeling that something about the place isn't right. This series lays out their stories in chronological order, beginning in nineteen seventy-eight and ending in the present day, and lets the overlapping details speak for themselves. In Part One, a retired carpet millworker named Herschel shares an account he kept private for forty-six years. In the fall of nineteen seventy-eight, Herschel and three hunting buddies leased a parcel in the southern Cohutta through a timber company and set up a deer camp on a bench overlooking the valley at about twenty-eight hundred feet. The first two nights were uneventful. On the third morning, Herschel woke to find the camp rearranged overnight — both Coleman coolers relocated without damage, and a field-dressed doe removed from the hanging pole and placed carefully in the center of the fire ring, untouched and unharmed.Over the following nights, the encounters escalated. Wood-on-wood knocking echoed from the valley below, answered by identical knocking from the ridge above in a coordinated call-and-response pattern. Bipedal footsteps passed through camp close enough for one of the men to feel the ground vibration through his boots and camp chair. On the final night, Herschel aimed his flashlight into the hemlocks at the edge of camp and was met with reddish eyeshine at approximately seven and a half to eight feet, while a deep vocalization from the ridge behind him produced a sound he felt physically in his chest. On the morning they broke camp, Herschel discovered a line of creek stones arranged at the camp's edge, evenly spaced and pointing due north along the ridgeline. The episode introduces the four men who were present — Herschel, Dale, Pete, and Jimbo — and provides context for their backgrounds, their familiarity with the woods, and their complete lack of interest in or knowledge of the paranormal prior to this experience. It also details Herschel's solo return to the site in nineteen eighty, where he found additional tree breaks extending north along the ridge in a line, and stood on the crest looking into a corridor of unbroken forest stretching as far as he could see. Have you experienced a Bigfoot sighting, Sasquatch encounter, Dogman experience, UFO sighting, or any unexplained cryptid or paranormal event deep in the woods? Uranus is the seventh planet of the solar system, so it’s a long way from both the Sun and Earth. Right now, it’s about 1.7 billion miles away. At that distance, under especially dark skies it’s barely bright enough to see with the eye alone. It’s easy to pick out with binoculars, though. This is an especially good week to look for the planet because it reaches opposition, when it lines up opposite the Sun. It rises around sunset and is in view all night. And it shines brightest for the entire year. In early evening, it’s close to the lower right of another good binocular target, the Pleiades star cluster. Even though Uranus is sometimes visible to the eye alone, it’s so faint that no one realized it was planet for a long time. Every astronomer who saw Uranus logged it as a star, missing out on a chance at immortality. It was officially discovered as a planet by British astronomer William Herschel, in 1781. But even he was fooled by it for a while. When he first saw it, he thought it was a comet. But calculations of its orbit showed that the object was much too far away to be a comet – it had to be a planet, and a big one. Herschel wanted to call it George’s Star after his patron, King George III. Astronomers outside Britain weren’t crazy about that. So almost 70 years later, they finally named it for a Greek god of the sky: Uranus. More about Uranus tomorrow. Script by Damond Benningfield

The Mac Saturn guys are back and making a racket! It was great to reconnect with Carson, Angelo, Mike, and Ian.The band has had an unusual start. Sidelined by the pandemic, then, a now ex-member sentenced to jail for child porn, the guys are focused on another chance to prove they belong in the big leagues, on the big stages. They sat down with me earlier this week to discuss everything happening with Mac Saturn..."It's Been A Hell Of A Year"With all that's happened in the past, I just asked them: How's the state of the band? Singer, Carson Macc said, "Well, it's been one hell of a year, year and a half, I'd say. We've spent a lot of time together. You know, we've been brought closer as brothers, and we've been doing a lot of writing. We've got a lot of new songs that we're trying out on stage, as well as the songs from Hard to Sell that we still love playing. And we're just trying to push our sound, push ourselves, and push each other to be the best we can be. And we're excited to bring that back to people. But, it's been quite a year." Bassist Ian Lukas piped in on how much they've been inspired. "It's been such a terrific period for really being inspired by our audience. Really plotting, you know, what we want to come back with, what kind of, like, direction we want to go come back with. And we're just super psyched with how it's going so far."The guys have primarily been playing smaller shows to get back in the groove. Something that Carson said is a chance to connect with the fans. "People were playing to, these crowds that are extremely engaged. And we get to engage with every single person. We kind of lost that a little bit in some of the shows when we opened for Dirty Honeyand the Struts, obviously, at that level. You know, there's a few people in the back that you can't really make eye contact with. But on these shows we've been playing, we are connecting with every single person in the club. And it's an exciting thing for us. And it really is informing us a lot on the songs that we've been working."Working With Al Sutton, Herschel Boone, and Marlon YoungThe guys are no strangers to Rust Belt studio, helmed by the legendary Al Sutton. I asked what it's like to work with him. "Well, I will say, you know, Al is a big part of it. But Marlon Young and Herschel Boone. The other two guys. You know, Marlon's definitely in the music world and in the guitar world. And Herschel, me, and Herschel, definitely lock in on the vocals. And he works with the guys on the backgrounds. He gets these guys to sound like a 35-piece choir on the background." Carson went on, "It's crazy. So I would say it's definitely a team effort. But Al is just so passionate. And he is so, he's matured so much since we've even started working with him. And the process that we have with him now, there's so much trust involved. And there's such a free communication that he really lets us bring in ideas and see where they lead to. And, you know, he reaches out to people that he knows and tries to get them involved as well."For those who don't know, Marlon and Herschel have been in Kid Rock's Twisted Brown Trucker band for over two decades.Being A Detroit BandI asked the guys about representing Detroit rock abroad. Guitarist Mike Moody said, "We're so proud of Detroit. And it's such a cool conversation starter, too, because we are repping it as much as we possibly can. So I think a lot of people have really cool experiences with something that they love from Detroit. And we love talking about that."Angelo piped in, "Everyone's got some artists they love from Detroit. He said that even a city like Nashville has many musicians from this area. "Well, I think we wouldn't be who we are without where we are always. You know, we're very in tune with our environment, just all the guys in general. And I think a real, true no frills band has to be affected by where they are, you know? And I'm just so thankful that it's this city because what can be combined in this city, not only music-wise, but style-wise, vibe-wise, energy-wise, hustle-wise, what you can combine here, you can only do here. It's one of one place, and it makes us want to be one of one. And I, you know, as much as I owe everything to the band and the producers and everything, we owe just as much to the city for making us want to be who we are and want to be a Detroit thing," said Carson.Ian chimed in, "It's a privilege to be a part of the music scene in Detroit, and take that on the road."Playing Saint Andrew's Hall On November 15thIt's a big show for the boys, as drummer Angelo Coppala explained, "It's my dad's birthday. There's a lot going on. We got to kill it. We got to do it. So we're excited for that. And we've got our eyes on that target. But it's all, it all feels like the first time. But it's also like the first time with all the knowledge that you have. So we're really excited to take different steps than we did last time when we were kind of at this point."I'm glad the boys are back. Story of the Week (DR):The Cracker Barrel BSCracker Barrel scraps new logo design, keeps 'Old Timer' after listening to customersRestaurant chain's stock price sank following removal of 'Uncle Herschel' from brandingUncle Herschel wasn't just a marketing creation, he was a real person. Born Herschel McCartney, he was the younger brother of Cracker Barrel founder Dan Evins' mother and served as an early goodwill ambassador for the brand. A salesman for Martha White Flour Company for over three decades, Herschel traveled through rural America, building relationships in small-town general stores — the very kinds of places that inspired Cracker Barrel's original design and ethos. When Cracker Barrel introduced its iconic logo in 1969, the old-timer sitting beside the barrel was long thought by fans to be based on Herschel himself, though the company later clarified that this wasn't the case.In 2004, the Justice Department (during the George W. Bush administration) sued the chain for discriminating against Black customers. In 2006, they settled a lawsuit involving three of their Illinois restaurants for “discriminatory practices, racially charged language, and inappropriate touching.”Cracker Barrel's inconvenient fact: all the customers who loved its old logo had stopped going to the restaurantFounder Dan EvinsHis tone was considerably harsher when it came to defending a January 1991 directive to all the company's restaurants to fire employees “whose sexual preferences fail to demonstrate normal heterosexual values.” Mr. Evins's explanation for the edict was that gay people made customers in rural areas uncomfortable. As many as 16 openly or suspected gay employees were promptly fired.“They actually put a policy like this in writing, which was, and still is, shocking,” David Smith, a spokesman for the Human Rights Campaign. The New York City Employees Retirement System, which owned more than $6 million of Cracker Barrel shares, led other stock owners in using their votes and other legal means to organize resistance. In March 1991, Mr. Evins apologized and said the policy had been rescinded. But New York and its allies fought until 58 percent of the shareholders in 2002 persuaded Cracker Barrel's board to vote unanimously to explicitly forbid antigay discrimination in its equal employment policy. In July 2001, shareholders replaced Evins as CEO with Michael A. Woodhouse, who at the time was serving as the company's chief operating officer. Evins maintained his position as chairman of the board.Prior to founding the company, Dan worked for Consolidated Oil, a company founded by his grandfather.Cracker Barrel took down Pride page after rebrand fiascoCompany faced criticism over modernist redesign and support for LGBT causes before stock reboundThe website link for Cracker Barrel's Pride page, which used to boast that the company was "bringing the porch to Pride," now redirects to its "Culture and Belonging" page.Cracker Barrel previously sponsored the Nashville Pride Parade in 2024 and unveiled a line of rainbow-colored rocking chairs for Pride month. The company also has an LGBTQ employee resource group called the "LGBTQ+ Alliance," along with groups for veterans and other communities.Despite claims it's 'too woke,' Cracker Barrel actually has a fraught LGBTQ+ historyCracker Barrel received a score of zero on the inaugural index in 2002. The chain was criticized in the 1990s for discrimination against gay employees. In 1991, the company adopted a corporate policy stating that any worker who failed to demonstrate "normal heterosexual values" would be fired. Eleven employees were terminated under the rule, leading to boycotts and protests nationwide. Over time, Cracker Barrel's HRC score improved, reaching 80 in 2021 after the company took several public pro-LGBTQ stances.58 percent of the shareholders in 2002 persuaded Cracker Barrel's board to vote unanimously to explicitly forbid antigay discrimination in its equal employment policy.Proud Representation: Business Resource Groups: These voluntary, employee-led organizations are open to all employees and provide opportunities to network, develop leadership skills, and serve as cross-functional resources for our teams.AMPT (Advancing Modern Professionals for Tomorrow) aims to connect and empower modern professionals by promoting a community of inclusive, ambitious, and diverse members that unify through the Cracker Barrel to equip our community and leaders for the future. He served as a speechwriter for the health department during the George W Bush administration, and went on to work for the tech investor and conservative mega-donor Peter Thiel.Trump Fires Member of Board That Approves Railroad MergersRobert E. Primus received an email from the White House terminating his position, but he said he would continue his duties. The Oligarchy Rules!: Trump makes the government Intel's largest investorIntel has entered into an agreement with the U.S. government, specifically the Department of Commerce, for an $8.9 billion investment in the company. This investment is in the form of the government purchasing Intel common stock. The U.S. government will gain a nearly 10% stake in Intel. This funding is part of the CHIPS and Science Act and the Secure Enclave program, aimed at boosting the domestic semiconductor industry. The government's ownership will be passive, with no board representation or governance rights. Each Warrant represents the right to purchase one share of common stock at an exercise price of $20.00 per share. On August 18, 2025, Intel Corporation entered into a Securities Purchase Agreement with SoftBank Group Corp. pursuant to which SoftBank agreed to purchase 86,956,522 shares of the Company's common stock for an aggregate purchase price in cash of $2.0 billion, representing a price per share of $23.00 per share.Goodliest of the Week (MM/DR):DR: Korea passes boardroom reform, curbing chaebol power MM DRMM: Red Lobster Is Betting on Black Diners With Its Brand ComebackMM: Bluesky now platform of choice for science communityAssholiest of the Week (MM):Shareholder democracyFrom Mike Levin, host of Shareholder Primacy and writer of the Activist Investor newsletter: Followers here should recall ten current and former TSLA directors agreed to repay about $735 million in comp they received from 2017-2020 as part of a settlement of a derivative lawsuit, Detroit v. Zoom - Musikgeschichte, und was sonst geschah
