Our conversation delves into kirtan's power to connect individuals to their inner peace and to something greater than themselves, supported not only by heartfelt anecdotes but also by scientific research that underscores its profound impact on personal well-being. It's a narrative that transcends the individual, highlighting the collective spiritual awakening that can emerge from the harmonious blend of voices. Venture with us into the remarkable evolution of kirtan as it transitions from ancient tradition to global sensation, touching the lives of countless individuals regardless of their cultural or linguistic backgrounds. Discover how music legends and icons have contributed to bringing this soulful practice into the mainstream, creating a tapestry of unity and voice. The power of kirtan is vividly brought to life through a personal anecdote set in Moscow, where a post-Glasnost event became the stage for an extraordinary spiritual communion, reinforcing the idea that kirtan has a unique way of connecting us with the divine and with each other. As we turn to the delicate interplay between tradition and modernity, we consider the essence and adaptation of spiritual practices in today's fast-paced world. We invite listeners to cherish the roots of these sacred practices while embracing their potential to enrich our contemporary lives with a sense of balance, purpose, and universal connection. Welcome to SEASON 3! To claim your free gift, leave a review on Apple Podcasts, screenshot it and send it to me at nikki@curlynikki.com! ********************** When you're chanting Ram, or Hare Krishna, or only Love is here, or Chisthood, or Peace, or thank you, or la ilaha ilAllah-- whatever you're chanting in that moment, it's like you're a wave chanting "Water, Water, Water". You've always been Water. You were Water before you waved, and you'll be water after you wave. You came from God and you will return to God, and all while you're here, you are God. You are Love. And so you are just chanting your real Name, you're feeling your real Self, the Resonance. The Essence. Home. "You came from Love You will return to Love And all while you're (appearing) here, you are Love." I Love You I Am You nik p.s. as for the title question- does it work? It works perfectly to reveal what you already are. "Always chant Hare Krishna mantra, be in touch with Krishna in so many ways, then you are secure. Maya will not be able to touch you and if we can someway or other pass our days, and at the time of death, if we remember Krishna, then the whole life is successful." - Srila Pranhupada "Meaning is made up in human minds, sound is the essence of creation" - Sadhguru "According to Thich hat Hanh, we are meant to be water: "It's like a wave on the surface of the ocean She may be very fearful because she gets caught in notions Like, beginning, ending, going up, going down More or less beautiful than the other waves But if the wave is aware that she is water And then, she loses all this kind of fear Going up she is joyful Going down she is joyful Because she knows that she is water She is not only a wave. She is also water. So water represents the ultimate water represents god water represents Nirvana" - Thich Nhat Hanh I am not only a wave l am water" - Regina Brown "If something has been written for you, you're going to walk right into it on the path you think you've taken to avoid it." - @brokenpearl via IG "The material world is a house of correction meant to reform my tendency to remain absent in our relationship. The only purpose of the material world is to teach me to connect and be present in my identiy as Krishna's servant." - Sacinandana Swami, The Living Name Join us on Patreon to support the show, and tune into and participate in live video Q&As with me! Śrīla Dhanurdhara Swami continues his Japa and Prayer School classes. In today's class: Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 1 Chapter 1 Text 9 jayati jayati nāmānanda-rūpaṁ murārer viramita-nija-dharma-dhyāna-pūjādi-yatnam katham api sakṛd āttaṁ mukti-daṁ prāṇināṁ yat paramam amṛtam ekaṁ jīvanaṁ bhūṣaṇaṁ me TRANSLATION All glories, all glories to the all-ecstatic name of Lord Murāri. It makes one put aside such tasks as meditation, ritual worship, and social duties. If a living being even once takes the Lord's holy name, the name will grant him liberation. That holy name is the greatest source of eternal pleasure and is my very life and ornament. Also mentioned in today's class is Sacinandana Swami's Meditations from the Living Name.
Breathe. Relax. Smile. You're in the Presence of God. In fact, the only Presence is God. That silent sense of here-ness, now-ness,me-nessis Him-ness,but you're claiming It. Your mind is saying this is 'me',but It's Love, and It's everywhere. It's all that is,appearing as all that isn't, wordlessly assuring you-I Am (is) always giving you everything right Now,you just have a limited capacity to receive. But you're opening your Heart, your mind is still, and even when it's not,I'm still here,as this monastery without walls, Loving you. Contemplatives do not create silence, for silence is already given to us it is our birthright as children of a loving God. To enter mystical silence involves not doing something, but doing less- less attachment to the chatter within, the endless commentary spun by the thinking mind.Between and beneath all our thoughts, our daydreams, our interior imagination, rests vast, open, limitless silence. It's always there. We simply need to learn to notice the silence, and in noticing it, to touch it. To touch that silence is to enter the presence of God.-Carl Mccolman, The Little Book of Christian Mysticism 'The Only Presence Is God' -Joel goldsmith Rumi was once asked,"Isn't it strange that you talk so much about silence?"He answered, "The radiant one inside me has never said a word.'"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."-Isaiah 55:8-9 New International Version"Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old. 19 Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert. The beasts of the field will honor Me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My chosen people...."-Isaiah 43:18"Prepare yourself.
