Belief regarding the return of Jesus after his ascension

Speaker: Pastor Bent Armstrong Passage: Matthew 24:29-31
The phrase “Christ is King” is absolutely true when understood in its proper biblical setting. Jesus Christ is Israel's Messiah, David's greater Son, the rightful heir to the throne, and the One who will return at the Second Advent to rule this world with a rod of iron. The kingdoms of this world will become His, Jerusalem will be the city of the great King, and the nations will one day bow before Him whether they want to or not. But for those of us who are born again, we have been put into the body of Christ who is our Saviour, Redeemer and Friend. We will stand with Him on ‘that day' when He becomes KING OF KINGS and inherits the kingdom prepared for Him from the foundation of the world.“And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:18 (KJB)On this episode of the Prophecy News Podcast, the modern “Christ Is King” movement, when connected to Christian Nationalism, is not merely a group of people saying something biblically true. It is often operating from a badly mixed doctrinal framework that blends kingdom-now theology, political dominion, Roman Catholic social order, Protestant reconstructionism, and nationalist identity politics into one confused religious-political package. Rightly divided, the problem is simple. They are trying to take language that belongs to Israel's prophetic kingdom program and force it into the Church Age, then use it to sanctify earthly political power. Jesus Christ is King. No Bible believer disputes that. He is the promised King of Israel, the Son of David, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, and the One who will return to this earth to sit upon the throne of His father David. But that kingdom is not being established now through America, Rome, Washington, political movements, conservative activism, or religious nationalism. Where the ‘Christ Is King' movement goes wrong is that it often takes a true prophetic title of Christ and turns it into a present-tense political weapon. It becomes less about the gospel of the grace of God and more about asserting religious identity, reclaiming national power, confronting perceived enemies, and building a “Christian civilization.” That is not Paul's doctrine for the Body of Christ. Paul does not present Jesus Christ to the Church primarily as our political King. He presents Him as our Saviour, our Head, our Redeemer, our Life, and our Blessed Hope. Today we show you the heresy of the corrupt Christian Nationalism and Dominion Theology movements that wants an earthly kingdom now, without an heavenly King to physically rule over it. They see themselves as the king, and that's a problem.
Did you know that Jesus Christ wanted his disciples to understand the prophecies that were fulfilled at his First Advent; and that he wants his followers today to know and understand the prophecies that pertain to his Second Advent? That's why he commissioned the Apostle John to write the book of Revelation. So now, more than ever before, we need to focus on getting Revelation right!
In your King James Bible, the word "Zion" appears 152 times in 152 verses, with all of them anchored in the Old Testament. And in the overwhelming majority of places, Zion is a literal, visible and physical geographic location firmly connected to King David, and to the coming King Jesus at the Second Advent. Zion will be the place where King Jesus will sit on David's throne, and rule the world during the Millennium. God will rule the world from a Zionist Kingdom on this Earth, believe it or not. "The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice." Psalm 50:1-3 (KJB)
The Life Of Christ #132 A solemn warning of his second advent by John Martin
At this point in time in God's program, believers who die are immediately brought into the presence of Jesus Christ, while their bodies remain in the grave. The next major event is the Second Advent of Jesus Christ where the Church, both living and dead, shall meet Him and be with Him forevermore. However, the eternal state of a New Heaven & Earth does not come at that point. Rather, it is the millennial reign of Christ over the earth. And the entire Church will be with Christ, in our resurrected bodies, serving and ruling on the earth. During this time, there will also be a time of judgment for the believers.

The Second Advent (Revelation 21:1-8) - December 23, 2025 by OrlandoGrace
This is not the typical "Christmas message" you might expect the last Sunday before Christmas, but it is in the truest sense of what the birth of Jesus means from a biblical perspective. The day that God the Father took on a human form and came to this Earth to redeem His own creation is perhaps the greatest day in recorded history, second only to His arrival at the Second Advent to establish His Millennial Reign of perfect rule and righteousness. Today you will hear about the renowned atheist Stephen Fry and his accusations against the God he calls 'a monster'. What we find is the exact opposite, we find a God in love with His creation and willing to sacrifice Himself to redeem it. Herein is love.

God's faithfulness at the first Advent assures us that He will keep His promise again—Jesus will return to renew creation, wipe away every tear, and dwell with His people forever. Revelation 21 anchors our hope in the already/not yet, reminding us that God's plan has always been to bring us back home, not by escape, but by making everything new through the return of King Jesus in glory. This promised future is meant to shape how we live now, calling us to place our allegiance and hope in Christ alone as we wait with faith, resilience, and confident expectation.
We can get so caught up in the busyness, routine, and familiarity of Advent that we miss the main thing: Jesus isn't focused on Christmas past but on his return. Given that, what if this Christmas season we choose to not only look back at Bethlehem—but equally celebrate the coming return of Jesus, known as the second Advent?Show Notes: The essay John reads from is “The World's Last Night,” by C. In Stephen's sermon, the same “God of glory” (Vs. 2) appeared to Abraham as it did to him in verse 55 where he, being full of the Spirit, saw both the glory of the Father and the Son. The trinity in one verse. As we see Advent through the eyes of Stephen, we want to understand the glory that was revealed in Jesus' birth. This same glory that the Father had was also the Son's. What does this mean for the manger scene and the transformation of not only Stephen, but for our own lives as well. May glory move us this morning all the way to the table.

“The Journey: Pursuing the Second Advent” from www.vopwc.org by Pastor N. R. Taylor, Jr.. Released: 2025. Genre: Vocal. The post The Journey: Pursuing the Second Advent appeared first on Voice Of Praise Worship Center.
Abstract: The Restoration of the Gospel began in an atmosphere of ardent and urgent expectations of the Second Coming of Christ. We are, after all, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Those expectations were shared far beyond the ranks of those who eventually joined the Church. But the early nineteenth-century men and women who did become Latter-day Saints were commanded that, having been warned, they should warn their neighbors. However, nearly two full centuries since the founding of the Church, and more than two centuries since Joseph Smith's First Vision, the Lord's Second Advent has still not arrived. Does that mean that this isn't a time for warning? That the time to warn our neighbors hasn't yet come? No, not at all. We remain under the divinely given obligation to spread the word and, yes, to warn. And there are many ways to do so. The post “A Voice of Warning” first appeared on The Interpreter Foundation.

During today's conversation on Back Porch Theology Alli and I are delving into a facet of Christoformity – that is being shaped like Jesus – which doesn't come naturally to either one of us and that is the art of waiting. Now if your wiring tends to be more high-speed like ours and you're prone to cram a week's worth of work on your daily to-do lists, please don't skip out on this episode because not only can I promise it's going to be a shame-free zone, I can also promise this conversation is jam-packed with encouragement and practical theology about pacing because the biblical context of waiting rarely refers to a complete cessation of activity. In other words, when God's people waited in biblical narrative it wasn't remotely stagnant or boring. In fact, both the Old Testament canon and the New Testament canon align the concept of waiting on God with the active posture of expectant hope. There's a huge difference between spiritual stillness and a lethargic lifestyle, y'all! For Christ-followers waiting is less about drumming our fingers with impatience while we wait on someone who's running late and more about our souls sighing with contentment and trust as we wait for our Creator Redeemer whose timing may not always match our expectations yet is always perfect! Increasing our capacity to wait on God is congruent with an increased confidence that He's always in the process of redeeming our inherent dignity as imago Dei; He's always in the process of mitigating the evil that wounds and corrupts humanity; and He's always in the process of decreasing the gap between the here and now and the Second Advent of Jesus Christ. So please grab a cup of decaf and your Bible, push any mental distractions to the edge of your mind, then take a seat on the porch next to us, prop your feet up and exhale – I have a feeling Holy Spirit's going to take a load off lots of us today.
