Hello, In today's show, I'm reviewing a NEW positive affirmation to encourage us to become curious as we live our everyday life. Curiosity allows us to live more interesting lives because it leads us to learn about new topics, maybe go to new places and meet new people. Many of us hesitate to follow our curiosity because we say we don't have the time. It's time to break free from that kind of negative thinking and instead give us the time to follow it. Use today's positive affirmation (with music) to help you re-write the negative self-talk that may be standing in your way. Cheers, Marie Next Steps:

September is Self-Improvement Month, and as we settle in to loving our fixer-upper selves, we welcome back Sherrie Tennessee to discuss burning questions like: What does self-improvement mean? What is the difference between self-improvement and self-help? Why do men write most self-help/self-improvement books, but women make up the majority of consumers who buy them? Join us as we answer all these questions and candidly discuss our own self-improvement journeys (not exactly what you may expect) in this episode of ASCP Esty Talk. September is Self Improvement Month -- our culture has a tricky relationship with the idea of it. Perfectionism, hustle culture and capitalism have us jockeying for position over one another and seeking validation and achievement outside ourselves. Host Nikki Innocent believes that self improvement is truly rooted in self discovery, that all of the power you need is within you, that the improvement is in aligning more deeply with who you are vs how the world tells you you need to change yourself to be. In this episode, Nikki encourages listeners to reframe their relationship with self-help and reclaim their individual power. If you are looking for guidance in that journey of self-discovery, try out our on-demand course Unlock Your Passion www.nikkiinnocent.com/passion

Mary McGinley, Wendy Sheridan, and Robin Renée are back from their end-of-summer vacation. On the 18th anniversary of 9/11, they return from a relaxing time away to some very serious topics. Each share their memories of the shock of September 11, 2001, how they dealt with it spiritually and emotionally, and how they experienced the world around them in response to the attacks. The conversation segues into the originally intended topic, gun control: What are the gun laws in your state? Can we not only mourn the losses to gun violence, but also affect change? Which norms are changing? Could a shift in our cultural story make a difference? Have you participated in gun control activism? In the News, Wendy describes coming out of her blanket fort only to be bombarded with the madness, including the latest on Brexit, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson finding himself in the minority (He may be out in a Scaramucci or two.), and confusing British politics in general. In other news, the American president is the self-appointed Chosen One, parodied expertly by Randy Rainbow, and poor Moscow Mitch doesn't like his hashtag. Later, Wendy lets us in on one of her vacation pastimes and gives her impressions of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Mary preferred watching the more peaceful, less eventful Travels by Narrowboat. September is National Suicide Prevention Month, Preparedness Month, International Update Your Resume Month, Courtesy Month, Piano Month, Save Your Photos Month, Self-Care Month, and Self-Improvement Month. September is Self Improvement Month and I wanted to start this month off with this message. What is self improvement? improvement of one’s mind, character, etc through one’s own efforts. The improvement can ONLY be done through one’s OWN efforts. No one can do this for you or force you to do this. Someone can tell you and tell you and tell you some more that you NEED to work on self improvement or you have to in order to be better, but only you can do it for yourself. Your attitude determines what’s in your mind. Feed your mind with positive thoughts. Goals: Defined - the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. write them down twice per day, JC Limitless, Grant Cardone How to determine or define your goals? Many variations of this, no right or wrong answer for this, unless you don’t do it GC - write your goals as present tense, already achieved them, then 10x goals JC Limitless - have to get your mind right before any goal can be obtained. Once your mind is on board the body can achieve anything. Labor Day; first observed 9/5, 1882 by 10,000 workers in NYC. This day was created by the labor movement and dedicated to the social and economic achievements of the American workers.
It's Self-Improvement Month at Freakonomics Radio. We begin with a topic that seems to be on everyone's mind: how to get more done in less time. First, however, a warning: there's a big difference between being busy and being productive.
