National Guard troops are expected to be in Memphis by next Monday, according to Governor Bill Lee who held a press conference this morning. Also on the show, Yaffee from The Yaffee Program on WVNN joined the show to discuss the two Charlie Kirk cosplayers at Tennessee State University getting mobbed by angry students and forcing them out, we break down reactions from James Comey's indictment, and expose Stephen Colbert for not being funny. Tennessee State University students mobbed a group of peaceful “Fearless Debaters” in MAGA hats, forcing them to pack up and leave campus, when their intention was simply to discuss DEI in a civil way. On this episode of “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock explains why the TSU students look like racist white people from the 1950s and '60s and why so many black people in America are racist. Political commentator David Khait joins the show to weigh in on the TSU incident. Later in the show, T.J. Moe and Steve Kim discuss with Whitlock C.J. Stroud upsetting Texans and Astros fans by sporting hats from other teams; Bill Belichick embarrassing himself, again, by appearing on the cover of US Weekly with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson; broadcasters criticizing Matt Shaw for missing a game to attend Charlie Kirk's memorial; and Keith Olbermann apologizing for threatening Scott Jennings on X, only to continue insulting him online. From college campuses to Big Tech, free speech is under siege—and the consequences are real. This episode dives deep into the escalating dangers conservatives face at universities, including violent mobs blocking debates and threatening speakers, with Tennessee State University as a shocking example. We also break down the Biden administration's mass censorship during the pandemic, exposing coordinated pressure on social media platforms like Google, YouTube, and Meta, and how whistleblowers and scientists were silenced for speaking the truth. Plus, we unpack the hypocrisy of selective outrage, highlight the ongoing fight against international censorship, and show why defending free expression matters now more than ever. This isn't just about politics—it's about the future of speech, debate, and truth in America.

Send us a textDreams sometimes arrive at unexpected moments. For Coach Toriano Morgan, the call to return to Tennessee State University—his alma mater where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees—came at what seemed like an inopportune time. Yet when your dream job beckons, timing becomes secondary.Morgan candidly shares the whirlwind 48 hours that led to his transition from head coach at Edward Waters University to co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Tennessee State. Despite speculation about possible dissension at EWU, Morgan sets the record straight, expressing profound gratitude toward the institution that gave him his first collegiate head coaching opportunity. "EWU has been nothing but outstanding to me and my family," he emphasizes, noting the support he received to build the program. His coaching philosophy reveals a leader confident enough to surround himself not with yes-men, but with experienced coaches offering diverse perspectives. This approach not only served him well at Edward Waters but ensured the program remained in capable hands with interim head coach Brian Jenkins following his departure. Morgan reunites with head coach Reggie Barlow, with whom he previously worked at Virginia State University, creating a seamless transition built on established trust. "Everywhere he goes he doesn't just win, he wins championships," Morgan notes about Barlow. As Tennessee State prepares to defend their Ohio Valley Conference championship, Morgan brings valuable experience and a methodical "brick by brick" approach to building on last year's success. With his sights set on their opener against North Carolina A&T, and his long-term aspiration to eventually lead an HBCU Division I program, Morgan's homecoming to TSU represents both a full-circle moment and an exciting new chapter for Big Blue Tigers football. Follow Coach Morgan's journey this season as he helps Tennessee State pursue another championship run!Support the show

1.17.2025 #RolandMartinUnfiltered: Biden Commutes 2500, TSU Band Director Investigated, DOJ Finds LA State Police Violates Civil Rights In his final days in office, President Biden commuted the sentences of nearly 2,500 individuals convicted of nonviolent drug offenses. Biden says the Equal Rights Amendment should be considered ratified but will not take any action on the matter in his final days in office. A civil rights investigation has found a pattern of excessive force by the Louisiana State Police. Instead of addressing these issues, the state's MAGA governor is defending the police agency involved in the death of Black motorist Ronald Greene. Tennessee State University's Grammy Award-winning band director is under investigation following a recent audit of the school's finances. And the Federal Trade Commission is suing PepsiCo for allegedly giving an unnamed big box retailer more favorable prices than its competitors. #BlackStarNetwork partner: Fanbasehttps://www.startengine.com/offering/fanbase This Reg A+ offering is made available through StartEngine Primary, LLC, member FINRA/SIPC. Harold Love, Jr. — a TSU alum himself — sits down with host Marie Cecile Anderson to lay out the timeline, unpack the controversies, and tell us where he hopes things will go from here. Good Morning Nashville ☀️ Excited to be apart of you guys week as we enter into the last few days of 2024! We took some time to enjoy our family, and hope you did the same this holiday season. And if you haven't heard it from us yet, we want to wish all of our listeners and supporters a blessed Merry Christmas.
Good Morning Nashville ☀️ Santa couldn't be the only one giving out gifts this Christmas season
Good Morning Nashville ☀️ We are beyond excited to be entering the last month of the year with our listeners and supporters. If you have rocked with us all of 2024, we want to say thank you for your loyal listenership. Stay tuned, as we have more stories to be told of men overcoming their mental health in the future. December will introduce our final season/series titled “Black Fathers & Sons.” The goal of this season is to dedicate our platform to black fathers and sons as we bring these men on to discuss the positive dynamics within the relationship that are often overlooked by society. Got a great guest pair kicking off this season, let's get into today's episode! We are excited to bring to our platform the first guest duo for our “Black Fathers & Sons” season. Brandon Sawyers (son) is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in Accounting. Although he couldn't make it, we want to give a shoutout to Brandon's older brother AJ, who also has played an influential roll in the overall development of Brandon as a young man. Representing the south side of Chicago, we bring forth Neru “Mr. Lawrence” Gobin (bonus dad) to the platform. A graduate of the University Of Illinois, and majored in Psychology, he began working at a hospital in Illinois. Time surpassed where Mr. Lawrence traveled down south to Tennessee State University where he ventured into starting his career, and while in that process, also meeting the woman that he now calls his wife. We dive into our conversation with these young men and see how mentally they have managed life individually, as well as together. One topic we brought up is how a man can often times be crippled mentally and emotionally when he doesn't have a dollar to his name. Any black man, or man in general, surely can say that it's no fun when there's nothing in your pockets. But especially for black men, we are labeled, stereotyped, and stigmatized daily. Then to not have any way to support your family or yourself? Surely could put anyone in helpless state with their mental health. A lot to take away from this episode, please take some time to listen to a father & son vent today. ✌
Since 2021, the financial health of Tennessee State University has been in the news.In 2021 a group of state lawmakers found that in the previous 50 years the state had underfunded the school by about a half a billion dollars. Then, in 2023, a federal report said that the state underfunded the university by far more than the original estimate — about $2 billion dollars just between 1987 and 2020. This fall, TSU laid off more than 100 employees and just last month the administration announced further cost-saving measures to keep from running out of money by the end of the school year. Today we're taking your calls and speaking with HBCU historian Dr. Crystal deGregory, Tennessean reporter Rachel Wegner and Andrea Williams, op-ed columnist and curator of the Black Tennessee Voices initiative for the The Tennessean. We'll explore HBCU history, TSU's funding, and what could be done to permanently fix this chronic situation.
In episode #277, we had the pleasure of being joined by Duante' Abercrombie, who will be leading Tennessee State University as Head Coach in their inaugural season as a Div. 1 hockey program next season. In the process, TSU will become the first HBCU(Historically Black College or University) hockey program in history. A glance at Abercrombie's resume leaves no doubt that he is the right person to lead the Tigers. That includes his time as an Assistant Coach with Stevenson University, becoming just the fourth coach of colour at that time in the NCAA. Professionally, he spent the 2022-23 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs organizations and has also been a part of several NHL BIPOC programs, spending time with the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators and Arizona Coyotes. Last year, he was nominated for Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award for his work with the Washington Capitals' Black Hockey Committee and the Rising Stars Academy. Listen as he shares what the new role at TSU means to him, how hockey can be used to connect people of all backgrounds, and the importance of wanting someone else to win more than you do.
Good Morning Nashville ☀️ Another week means another episode with the ONLY black father and son podcast in the state of Tennessee. ⭐️ Mental health is the foundation we built our brand on, and each week we are excited to bring more stories on how black men everywhere are beating the stigma.
