This week I'm continuing the concept that while you can't control a lot of what happens to you - especially in motherhood - you get to choose how you respond. Negativity in motherhood seems to be all over social media and lead you to believe it's the only choice. Motherhood is hard and it will always suck. But it doesn't have to be like that. I'm giving you a micro challenge this week of being aware of what you think and say - and choosing a new mindset thought. This is inspired by https://www.instagram.com/tessaromero_ (@tessaromero_) on instagram.

The Grove Hill Town Council voted Tuesday to discard the long-observed Columbus Day as a holiday for municipal workers and to instead observe the newly-designated federal holiday of Juneteenth. Juneteenth joins “June” and the date, “nineteenth.” It was approved by Congress as a federal holiday and signed into law just before June 19 this year. It is observed on the actual date unless it falls on a weekend and then it is observed on the closest Friday or Monday. Its roots date to June 19, 1865, the date that slaves in Galveston, Texas learned that the Civil War was over...Article Link

Life after bariatric surgery can be filled with food anxiety, even though we were hoping to move away from it after our procedure. Making food choices that align with our health goals means that we are -at times- thinking more about food after surgery than we ever have before. And finding creative, interesting, and delicious alternatives to our favorite foods can feel like more work than what it is worth. In this episode, April @actively_april and Natalie @breakingbari_ers sat down to talk about food swaps: what they are, why we use them when we use them, and what these swaps mean for our health. Sometimes we get a food "itch" that just needs to be scratched. How do we handle these itches as they come in a way that supports our health? Listen (or watch) to find out! Today we will be talking about debt swaps and China's role in the global financial landscape, with Rebecca Ray and Blake Alexander Simmons of BU. Although China has only recently become a major creditor, it has already built a strong record of bilateral debt relief and has even begun to advocate for linking actions to promote biodiversity and fighting climate change with international finance and debt relief. Guests: Rebecca Ray is a Senior Academic Researcher at the Global Development Policy Center, at Boston University. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and an MA in International Development from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. Since 2013, she has focused on the nexus of international development finance, particularly China's role in reshaping the global financial landscape, and sustainable development, particularly in Latin America. She produces the annual China-Latin America Economic Bulletin series and the China's Overseas Development Finance database. She was lead editor for the books China and Sustainable Development in Latin America: the Social and Environmental Dimension and Development Banks and Sustainability in the Andean Amazon. Blake Alexander Simmons is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Global Development Policy Center. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Queensland (Australia) and his M.S. from the University of Antwerp (Belgium). His research focuses on how environmental, political, and psychosocial factors influence conservation decisions in social-ecological systems, and how we can change behaviors to achieve positive outcomes for people and nature. At the GDPC, Blake is investigating the impacts of China's Belt and Road Initiative on biodiversity and indigenous peoples. References: Blake Alexander Simmons, Rebecca Ray, Yang H, Kevin P. Time stamps for our discussion: 2:33 – How could China use debt for nature swaps and what's the model? 2:50 – China is world's largest low-income bilateral creditor. Countries are struggling to repay given Covid. 4:00 – Relieving a portion of debt in exchange for climate protection. Science paper lists which are best countries for this solution. 4:45 – Three economic trends: capital flight, currency volatility, and drop in trade. All challenge debt repayment and capital investment. If countries can't make repayments anyway, shared goals are a way to renegotiate commitments without default. 6:00 – China has been at the forefront of debt relief for poorest countries. 6:30 – How does this affect China's position as a creditor? 7:00 – China's debt portfolio highly concentrated in a few countries. China has an interest in restructuring with these countries because of the long-term diplomatic and economic relationships—Venezuela as an example. 8:15 – What's the difference of a debt-for-nature and debt-for-climate swap? 10:00 – History and examples of debt-for-nature swaps, going back to 1980s and 1990s. WWF pioneered, Ecuador was an early case. Third parties like WWF or the Nature Conservancy would pay for a portion of outstanding debts in exchange for conservation policies. 11:30 – Example of bilateral debt-for-nature swaps. Early cases of debt-for-climate. 12:50 – Example of the Seychelles and the marine protected areas. 14:00 – Nature-performance-linked-bonds. Examples of Ecuador and Argentina proposals. 17:30 – How does enforcement work? Are there standards? 19:00 – Inclusion of local communities in enforcement versus top-down goal-setting and monitoring. 23:00 – Announcements that could come from CBD COP. Discussions with CCICED. 25:30 – Expectations about green finance for nature. 28:00 – Why China still financing coal projects and whether that contradicts the idea of debt-for-climate swaps.

I think most of us would agree that making more impact and income while working fewer hours is the ultimate business goal. That phrase "making money while you sleep" is actually a real possibility as is "making money while playing with your kids/on vacation/with another client/living your life." Sound pretty good, right? In this episode, I'm sharing the 4 swaps you need to make in your business so you actually can make more money in less time. We're talking passive income, the 1-to-many business model, and so much more. "You can always create more income by having your own business, by having these other possibilities, and even though time is finite, you can create more time in a sense of you being able to do what you want with that time." - Shawn Mynar "Go from a lack mindset to an abundance mindset." - Shawn Mynar "You have a bigger why, you have a bigger purpose. Put the attention on who you are helping, how you want to help them, and what do you need to get there in a bigger way. Focus on that instead of it being all about the money." - Shawn Mynar *NEW*: Refer to the timestamps below to skip to the section you're interested in! 4:19 - Having the opportunity to work fewer hours and make more money 8:07 - Quote for this episode 10:04 - My story on how I completely transformed my business 17:39 - Go from lack to abundance 19:34 - The ego chatter and the lack mindset 23:31 - Lack vs abundance 26:16 - Stop thinking so much about money 26:59 - Money is a form of energy 27:56 - From forcing to flowing 38:41 - From active income to passive income 53:42 - Go from one to one work to one to many 59:37 - Figure out what that journey is going to be +++ SIGNATURE PROGRAM LAB @SHAWNMYNAR - Chat with me on Instagram UNSTUCK ENTREPRENEUR INSTAGRAM SHAWNMYNAR.COM - Get the latest scoop +++ Enjoying the podcast? BTSE is a crypto asset exchange and futures trading platform. BTSE has partnered with Brave New Coin to create two indices - the BBCX and BBAX, around which BTSE has developed futures trading products. BTSE co-founder Brian Wong explains what makes BTSE one of the most compelling crypto trading solution providers. Why you should listen: BTSE offers a suite of sophisticated futures trading products. BTSE traders can now use index perpetuals to build market-neutral strategies, and target risk profiles. Index perpetuals allow traders the ability to hedge out unwanted exposures, such as the broad crypto market or a particular sector. BTSE has partnered with Brave New Coin to create several indices. An index is a way to track the value of a broad market or sector, via a single price. The BNC-BTSE Composite Index (BBCX) tracks the real-time market performance of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin. The BNC-BTSE Alt Coin Index (BBAX) tracks the real-time market performance of Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin and EOS. Both indices have outperformed their largest constituents in the year to date 2021. After a recent podcast appearance of my own, I was approached by Danny Ozment, the host of ‘So You Want to Podcast?', about appearing as a guest on his show. But rather than just a straight-up interview, he suggested we do a podcast swap. So, instead of recording an interview for each of our shows separately, we recorded one conversation that we both could use for each of our shows. I thought that was a really interesting idea, so that's what you're hearing now. Danny is a marketing consultant, brand strategist and podcast producer who helps entrepreneurs and businesses create podcasts that build brand loyalty and make their marketing efforts more effective. Danny is a classically trained musician who previously worked in arts and music and found he needed to work from home to support his family. He uses his skill set to help podcasters and other businesses deliver their message more effectively. As I mention in the episode, we're both serving the same audience but in complementary ways, which makes for a great discussion and podcast swap. I'd love to hear your thoughts and takeaways from this one, for sure. Topics covered include: Our different approaches to opt-ins Danny's work history and how he transitioned into the podcasting space What makes a guest stand out for Danny The kind of equipment you need, both to appear on other people's podcasts and to start making your own The benefits of guesting on other people's podcasts When is a good time for people to start their own podcasts and not just guest on other peoples? Danny's thoughts on pitching: What makes them stand out in a good way? I hope you enjoyed this episode with two podcast nerds talking shop. And, I'd love to hear your thoughts as to whether or not you might consider the podcast swap approach for your podcast. Tag me on IG @angie_trueblood and let me know what you think. In this episode I speak with Sam Trabucco from Alameda Research. Alameda manages over $100mm in digital assets and trades between $600mm and $1.5bn per day. We begin our conversation with a discussion around the features that distinguish crypto markets from traditional markets. What becomes a recurring theme in the conversation is how decentralization and fragmentation present both an opportunity and a challenge. Sam provides some color into the easiest and hardest alpha he's earned, including exploiting a spot arbitrage with a US dollar, Bitcoin, and Japanese Yen triangle trade. But not all trades are that complicated: sometimes, it's just buying Dogecoin when Elon Musk tweets about it. We spend the back half of the conversation discussing operational issues such as managing collateral, block-time versus clock-time, transaction costs, exchange risk, and regulatory risk. For a highly systematic team, Alameda spends a good deal of time trying to qualitatively judge where the juice is worth the squeeze. I found this chat to be incredibly insightful into the world of crypto trading, and I hope you do too. Please enjoy my conversation with Sam Trabucco.
Do you feel guilty for eating the “real thing” when it comes to desserts, fried foods, or foods that are higher in fat? Have you ever tried to swap out certain foods in the name of health? For example, maybe you've tried to cut sugar or save calories? In this episode, we're talking about what it looks like when you take these swaps to the extreme and what it can do to your mental health. NOTE: We're not talking about swapping foods because of allergies, food intolerances, the choice to become vegan/vegetarian, or specific health issues...we're talking about healthy swaps that are used for the sole purpose of weight loss and cutting calories. Cousin Sal and Dave react to a big morning of NBA news; Kawhi Leonard is out indefinitely, Chris Paul enters Covid protocols and Kevin Durant's huge night helps save the Nets in game 5. Dave thinks the Milwaukee Bucks are fraudulent and compares Giannis failing to when Bane broke Batman's back (02:00). Dave's betting slump is over and everything is once again coming up Dameshek, plus the guys weigh-in on Lebron changing his number from 23 back to 6 (16:30). It's a US Open preview; Sal is disappointed Bryson DeChambeau didn't want to be paired with Brooks Koepka and it would be good for the sport. Dave thinks Aaron Rodgers will continue to make wisecracks at the Packers all season long and need to trade Jordan Love (22:15). This weekend is Father's Day and the guys give their win/place/show of best Father and Sons in sports; as they discuss the Curry's, Griffey's, Norton's and others (29:30). Finally, it's a look at the NHL playoffs as the Islanders and Lighting head to Game 3 of their semi-finals series (45:00).
That green mermaid that depicts Starbucks draws in so many of us with the excitement of the atmosphere, new flavors, snacks, pastries, merchandise, ease of the app, and the overall customer service down to the regular tall black Pike Place. The convenience and presence of this popular chain can become addictive with all of it's indulgences that should be enjoyed in moderation. However, if you're partaking on a frequent basis, this episode will share some healthy versions of the drinks, snacks, pastries, and meals. ...and if you steal that Trente Unsweetened Iced Coffee with 2 shots of Sugar Free Cinnamon Dolce' from the barista counter, ....well....I shall CUT YOU!
