Welcome back to Intellicast! We have a jam-packed news episode for your today. Brian Lamar and Producer Brian kick off the episode with a quick recap of the first presidential debate. Producer Brian probably summed it up best by calling it a true representation of 2020. The guys then dive right into the news – and there’s a lot! First, they touch on Research For Good’s new Chief of Staff, Rich Silva. Then they turn to the news of a new panel being launched by Confirmit and the Institute for Jewish Policy Research. This actually leads to a discussion on whether more religion-based panels will start to pop up or not. In the next story, the guys talk about the latest acquisition by Dynata, as well as the new integrated insights system, GEODE / AI, launched by Burke. The guys switch gears a bit and then talk about the new Centre on Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics for Science, Business and Society launched in Paris. They talk about the partnering companies involved and wonder about the impact this could bring to the industry. We then move into our rebranding segment. We touch on 4 rebrands that have occurred in the last 2 weeks, including Vision Critical rebranding to Alida, Survata to Upwave, Alpha HQ to Feedback Loop, and Greenwald & Associates to Greenwald Research. These stories had Brian Lamar asking why companies go through rebranding, and Producer Brian gives a pretty good explanation (totally unplanned too!). The guys then cover the acquisition of Inteligx by PureSpectrum, and the additional services it adds to PureSpectrum’s portfolio. In the last segment of the episode, the guys discuss the recent call by P&G’s Chief Brand Officer to change the upfront process. Producer Brian is intrigued by the upfront process, both the ad buying and the TV pilot aspects, and he talks passionately about how this could change the whole process. They also talk about what P&G’s Chief Brand Officer said, and what kind of impact a change in the upfront process could have on ad testing and other market research. If you need to catch-up on market research news, this is the episode for you. Special NASP Podcast episode with Shelia Arquette and Cecelia Byers who is a specialty pharmacist by trade, Cecelia is bringing clinical expertise to the solutions being developed by Surescripts. As Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Product Manager, she guides conversations with stakeholders and development teams to ensure the patient experience remains at the core of Surescripts specialty medication solutions.  Before Surescripts, Cecelia was a pharmacist for Supervalu Pharmacies in Minneapolis, MN.  She held various positions including retail staff pharmacist, pharmacy manager, interim operations manager, clinical programs manager and pharmacy systems manager.  In 2014 Cecelia started her specialty pharmacy journey with Supervalu, working to develop and build not only the pharmacy but the programs to support the patient experience. Cecelia Byers, PharmD | Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Product Manager | Surescripts LLC | www.surescripts.com| Cecelia.byers@surescripts.com Connect with us: Twitter | LinkedIn | Facebook |YouTube With the healthcare system completely overwhelmed during the pandemic, specialty pharmacists are at the frontline of patient care. They are working relentlessly to dispense and deliver medications, manage drug shortages, and support patients remotely to ensure their treatments are uninterrupted. However, they are faced with an endless cycle of administrative burden which keeps them glued to the phone and fax machine with 79% reaching out to clinicians at least three times for more information necessary to fill a script. This problem is so obtuse that 40% of specialty pharmacists are feeling like admins and not able to perform at the top of their license. A new Surescripts survey found that half of specialty pharmacists say the average specialty prescription takes at least four days to fill and wait times of seven to 10 days aren’t uncommon. The survey of more than 400 specialty pharmacists also found that nearly two-thirds of specialty pharmacists report spending more than 15 minutes on the phone to fill one prescription, and 79% of specialty pharmacists seek additional information from clinicians at least three times in an average day. “Specialty pharmacists are critical members of care teams, working to educate patients and help them get started with treatment,” said Cecelia Byers, PharmD, Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Product Manager at Surescripts. “Because many prescriber offices are closed or have reduced staff due to COVID-19, specialty pharmacists are working on the frontlines to process prior authorizations, dispense and deliver medications, manage drug shortages, and support patients remotely. Now more than ever, pharmacists need quick and easy electronic access to information to ensure patient therapy is not interrupted.” Specialty medications that treat serious and chronic conditions like cancer, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis have complex documentation requirements. When combined with a manual prior authorization process, the result is an overwhelming amount of administrative work that gets in the way of pharmacists spending enough time with patients. In fact, 40% of specialty pharmacists say the process is so burdensome that they feel more like an admin than a pharmacist.  Given the complex nature of specialty medications, this often leads to a seemingly endless cycle of phone calls and faxes with prescribers to obtain necessary information. In fact, 39% of specialty pharmacists say they seek additional information from their clinician counterparts five times or more each day. The administrative burden of specialty medications is resulting in increased burnout among care providers, including pharmacists. The Surescripts survey found that 71% of specialty pharmacists are somewhat, very or extremely stressed at work, and 63% identified prior authorization as a source of stress. According to a study in the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, more than half of health-system pharmacists have a high degree of burnout.  “This survey brings to light the barriers specialty pharmacists face and demonstrates the need for technology to enable better information sharing between prescribers and specialty pharmacists,” said Andrew Mellin, MD, MBA, Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer of Surescripts. “Specialty pharmacists need ready access to patient clinical information, so they can help patients get on therapy quickly and spend more time on patient care, not administrative tasks.” Most specialty pharmacists agree that an automated system would help. The survey found that 86% of specialty pharmacists say getting more complete information from clinicians would improve patient care, and 56% think streamlined communication—specifically, secure messaging within their workflow—would improve the fulfillment process. Surescripts partnered with Survata to administer the 33-question online survey to 414 active specialty pharmacists. Their responses were collected February 19–25, 2020. If that was not enough, Zach is also a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Co. In Today’s Episode You Will Learn: 1.) How Zach made his way from the world of operating and adtech to investing and advising startups today? When does Zach feel the ecosystem really started to take him seriously as an investor? What did Zach learn from being in the adtech space that he has applied to his investing today? 2.) The Future of Venture: Naval has previously said we will see "the unbundling of VC", does Zach agree with this view? Why does Zach feel we are seeing both the bundling and the unbundling of venture platforms? What unique challenges does this pose for both sides of the equation? How should entrepreneurs evaluate the different options, bundled vs unbundled? 3.) Portfolio Construction: Why does Zach believe that portfolio construction is fundamentally inefficient? What 2 core areas of venture does portfolio construction cause issues for? When does Zach view to be the ideal insertion point if optimising for absolute returns and not following portfolio construction? 4.) Reserve Allocation and Pricing: Why does Zach think that the current mechanism for reserve allocation is broken? Why is it a fundamentally bias process? What does the optimal investment decision-making process look like to Zach? How does Zach think about the asymmetric information that is gained from being early into a company? How can investors really use it to their advantage? Why do they not? 5.) Why does Zach compare being an entrepreneur to being a gladiator and a rocketship? Why does Alex believe the transition from space articulation to product articulation is the most important thing an entrepreneur can do? I'm Jamin Brazil and you're listening to the Happy Market Research Podcast. Today my guest is Dyna Boen, President of Market Research Survata. Survata offers a technology platform that informs business decisions used by today's top brands, including GameStop, Clorox, Gardner and Disney, my favorite brand of all time. Dyna is a serial entrepreneur who has worked in all aspects of the marketing research space. Dyna, thank you so much for joining me today on Happy Market Research Podcast. [00:00:30] Thank you for having me, Jamin. I would say that I'm a Happy Market Researcher. [00:00:34] I love it. [00:00:36] So very smiley, happy market researcher. So I'm glad to be here. [00:00:40] We all are, we all are as long as we're making a payroll. What we found is our audience is really interested about what Survata is doing today, what you specifically – how you are specifically fitting in. But what I'm really digging is the background of what got you here. So could you tell us a little bit about what it is that your parents do and how that's informed what you're doing today? [00:01:05] Yes, absolutely. Well, my dad was an auto broker and he was in the car industry. And so, he's a very dynamic sales person. He's your quintessential car guy and I grew up with him owning his own business. SO also an entrepreneur. And so what he did was he bought fleets of rental cars from Hawaii and then sold them as used cars all over the mainland. And so for me, I got to travel with him, which going on a business trip to Hawaii is like how I thought business was done growing up. I'm a little spoiled. I'm looking back and I'm like wow, that was really fortunate. But I would get to travel with my dad when I was on school breaks and sit on business dinners that he was having, and just a lot of it was observing the way he did business in the Pacific Rim and my mom was a teacher and an educator. So my parents were always very supportive of education. [00:02:07] The sales side of things that your dad had, that sounds like directly it fed into, obviously, your marketing background. Did he use TV, radio, et cetera or was he more network-based distribution? [00:02:21] He was more network-based distribution I would say. We're very similar in that we're very – just social animals, both of us are. We like to talk to people, we like to network, we like to build relationships. And that to me, whether it's Survata or in the market research industry, that's what I enjoy most. We all spend a lot of time at work. My daughter will sometimes call me a workaholic, but it's because I love my job and I want that to be an example to her, that you can be a professional and love what you do, and it's about the people that you spend your time with every day, and life is short and we spend a lot of time at work. So if you can surround yourself by wonderful people and partners, and colleagues that support you and support them, I think that's pretty good life. [00:03:12] Yes, no more Mondays. So I was, I had a conversation with John Dumas, entrepreneur on Fire is like one of my aspirational podcasters. Got about a million listeners, million listeners, what I mean by that. He said, "Jamin, every day for me is Saturday." That's right, literally. I woke up this morning early, I couldn't wait to get in the car,

In this week's show, we offer a humble helping hand through a messy digital dilemma.  Your Facebook feed has become the new town square. The new water cooler. The new [insert your analogy of choice]. Sometimes your far off "friends" and relatives share views far out of step with your values. It can get ugly.  “One of my elementary school friends who I grew up with posted a story about hair salons accepting EBT cards," listener Tamika Cody tells us. "Some of her friends started to chime in. They poked fun at how African Americans spoke and how they were 'gonna get their hair did.' By the time they got to the whole 'Chinamen' and doing nails, I just said, 'you know what, this is just too much for me.'” Tamika quit Facebook.  Before you go that far, scroll down (or click play). We've called in the experts. We've commissioned a survey; consulted a psychologist about how racism on Facebook slips by; collected some personal examples; and we've adapted a tool for healthy dialogue into this handy flow chart for you to pin on your wall, physical or digital. "LARA" is a strategy promoted by the National Conference for Community Justice (New Tech City/Piktochart)   Some Data for You We commissioned a survey from the market research company Survata. Of the nearly 300 Facebook users polled, 46 percent have seen a discussion about race show up in their newsfeed in the past month. Almost a third of them say they've considered blocking or unfriending someone over offensive comments about the news. Things get testy on Facebook. (Survata and New Tech City) The Bottom of the Barrel Among those numbers are listeners like Vishavjit Singh, who wrote to tell us about the reaction to his 28-second Facebook video, which has been viewed over four million times. Singh, who has a beard and wears a turban, shared what people said to him: The internet is not always a welcoming place. (Screenshot, Facebook) Yeah.    We've included a few other examples, and some smart, thoughtful, constructive ways to respond, in this week's episode.
