Today's conversation is a first for us! Rhonda and Attorney Robert Taylor sit down to discuss what divorce looks like if you or your spouse serves in the military. Finding an attorney who specializes in this area is key as you navigate the rules and regulations of being a military couple. They tackle the topics:   Where should you get divorced? Housing and retirement Benefits   If you are in the military or married to someone who is, and contemplating divorce, this is a must listen episode!   About today's guest:   Taylor Law & Mediation was started by attorney and mediator Robert J. Taylor in Mountain Home, Idaho, in 2013. The firm expanded to Boise, Idaho, in 2020 and offers the same quality service in both locations.    By focusing on mediation as a primary option and not a court of last resort, Taylor Law & Mediation provides a low-cost alternative to traditional litigation. Mediation is less expensive than litigation; it is often quicker and puts the participants in control of the final outcome, not a judge. Mediation not only puts people in control of their case, but it also makes the law accessible to people in a very real way that is often overlooked or ignored.  In addition to practicing law, Robert also serves as an engineer officer in the Idaho Army National Guard. Prior to commissioning in 2008, he spent six years as a paralegal specialist for the Idaho Army National Guard.   Connect with Robert:   Taylor Law and Mediation Your host is Rhonda Noordyk, CFEI, CDFA®, CEO of The Women's Financial Wellness Center Rhonda has dedicated her career to being an advocate for women and educating them on how financial strategies can impact their personal and professional success. Her work has shown women going through a divorce how to have a voice, be assertive, get results, be driven, and move forward with confidence.  For Rhonda and her company, the Women's Financial Wellness Center, helping women isn't just about running the numbers. It's about asking the right questions, demystifying myths and biases around finances, and helping women walk in their power. Today I sit down with star of the newly released “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” Tamara Taylor. As a shy kid, Tamara started out in modeling school. It was there where she discovered how she came alive on a runway performing in front of an audience. With dreams of pursuing acting, Tamara credits her mother with helping her to set her creative priorities on track when she asked, “Do you want to do this because you want to be famous, or do you want to do this because you like it?” After moving to Los Angeles with her best friend to pursue their entertainment industry dreams, Tamara studied with acting coaches Margie Haber and Howard Fine and describes her experience of first going out for commercial auditions. After landing a series of commercials as a spokesperson for AT&T, Tamara was able to launch her commercial success into securing theatrical agent representation. Since then, Tamara has earned a list of credits that just keeps growing including her well-known role as Dr. Camille Saroyan on FOX's “Bones,” ABC's “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Netflix's “Altered Carbon” and “October Faction,” FOX's “Party of Five”, ABC's “Lost”, Tyler Perry's “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” and many more. Today, Tamara candidly and openly discusses both the challenges and excitements that await actors at every new level in their career, from new actor to series regular. She shares her journey towards developing and embracing her own self-confidence, and shares how that confidence has allowed her to recover gracefully from on-set blunders, to fully show up in auditions even when feeling nervous or unprepared, and most of all, to always listen to her gut. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Tamara Taylor right here. In 2001 Carol Taylor and her husband Robert were involved in a car accident that severed Carol’s spinal cord leaving her a high level quadriplegic. Today Carol lives on the Gold Coast in Australia with her husband Robert and their 11 year old son. Carol and Robert operate a successful law practice while dealing with the daily obstacles that come with being paralyzed from the neck down. Shane and Nikki sit down with Carol for an in depth conversation about her journey. Carol talks about: How you rebuild a life: “ With the struggles i’ve been through, you don’t get back to your old life. You build another life. My former life is like a book i have read and put back on the shelf in the library. Now i’m writing another book.” Overcoming adversity: “We don’t realize the strength we have until we need it. We are vastly more resilient and powerful than we realize. Adversity gives you the gift of resilience.” “To overcome adversity you have to find a routine. Start small and grow over time, soon you build a new normal.” Building a breakthrough mindset: “A wonderful lady that I knew during the first four years helped me a lot. One of the things she said to me was “ Carol, where do you see yourself in five years time? You are not going to be in this place where you are right now. Your body will never be the same, you will have to adapt but it will get stronger”. “The thing that has gotten the strongest for me since my injury is my mind. Know that if you set your mind to something you can build the mindset you need to achieve it. Focus on where do you want to be in five years time”. Why continue: Someone somewhere needs you to get through this. Someone is waiting for your story to inspire them. If your down, if your broken, build a routine and start living day by day.
