Preserving Freedom Among The Cliff-bound Lemmings with Doug Casey How can an individual preserve their liberty and sanity among the sea of millions who are suffering from ignorance, cowardice, cognitive dissonance, and Stockholm Syndrome? Best-selling author, world-renowned speculator, and libertarian philosopher Doug Casey returns to the Outer Limits of Inner Truth to answer this question. Doug also reveals his predictions for the coming years ahead. Doug Casey has garnered a well-earned reputation for his erudite (and often controversial) insights into politics, economics, and investment markets. Doug is widely respected as one of the preeminent authorities on “rational speculation,” especially in the high-potential natural resource sector. Doug wrote the book on profiting from periods of economic turmoil: his book Crisis Investing spent weeks as #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and became the best-selling financial book of 1980 with 438,640 copies sold; surpassing big-caliber names, like Free to Choose by Milton Friedman, The Real War by Richard Nixon, and Cosmos by Carl Sagan. Then Doug broke the record with his next book, Strategic Investing, by receiving the largest advance ever paid for a financial book at the time. Interestingly enough, Doug’s book The International Man was the most sold book in the history of Rhodesia. And his most recent releases Totally Incorrect and Right on the Money continue the tradition of challenging statism and advocating liberty and free markets. He has been a featured guest on hundreds of radio and TV shows, including David Letterman, Merv Griffin, Charlie Rose, Phil Donahue, Regis Philbin, Maury Povich, NBC News, and CNN; has been the topic of numerous features in periodicals such as Time, Forbes, People, and the Washington Post; and is a regular keynote speaker at FreedomFest, the world’s largest gathering of free minds. Doug has lived in 10 countries and visited over 175. He currently spends most of his time in Argentina and Uruguay, and traveling to various dysfunctional hellholes. Today you’re most likely to find him at La Estancia de Cafayate, an oasis tucked away in the high red mountains outside Salta, Argentina. Cafayate most resembles the isolating beauty of Bryce Canyon, Utah combined with the lush vineyards of Napa Valley. Residents enjoy economic and social freedoms not found in the US and some of the best wine and golf on the planet. Website Link: Check out Doug’s new book! Assassin: Book 3 of the High Ground Novels Charles Knight is released from an especially unpleasant stay in prison, only to rejoin a society overwhelmed by looting, riots, arson, viral panic, mob-think and economic decay . . . with a presidential election in the balance. The cronies are in charge, abetted by their media lackeys and political puppets. They’ll do anything to get what they want. How can Charles stop the deadly crimes committed by those who control the law, print the money, and confuse the minds of the people? Crimes that push millions into poverty, servitude and ignorance. Will a highly unorthodox presidential candidate and a cryptocurrency network that turns the surveillance state on its head be enough to expose and defeat them? Or do some people just need to be killed? The cronies are moving fast. Charles Knight needs to move faster. BOOK LINK:

Urban Meyer was 22-3 in games that were down to one score in the fourth quarter, a remarkable record of resilience at Ohio State. How did Meyer do that in seven years with the Buckeyes, and will they keep that up under Ryan Day? On the latest Buckeye Talk, Doug Lesmerises is joined by listener Mark Roberts, who did the research on Meyer's record, to discuss why the Buckeyes won so many tight ones. Mark also takes time to explain why he thinks Doug is wrong for even suggesting the Buckeyes could go 9-3 this season. Then Doug takes questions on everything from the new Big Ten commissioner to how much receiver recruit Julian Fleming should play as a freshman. All that on the new Buckeye Talk. Ohio State landed the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation in both 2017 and 2018. If the Buckeyes are going to make the College Football Playoff in 2019, it will be on the backs of those players. So how are they developing? In the latest episode of Buckeye Talk, Doug Lesmerises dove into the 24 players ranked among the top 100 recruits in the nation in those two years and figured out how many of them are on a strong development track. That was interesting. Then Doug took a lot of questions from the subscribers to the new text app, as well as questions from Twitter, as always. He talked Justin Fields and Damon Arnette, Ryan Day and Jeff Hafley, Jaelen Gill and Nicholas Petit-Frere and more. The spring game is on the horizon, and that will be previewed in next week’s episode. But a lot was covered in regards to OSU's spring progress in this episode. Nick Bosa's college career ended this week, as Bosa's family told Urban Meyer that he's focusing on rehabbing his injury, and then preparing for the NFL Draft, rather than attempting to return to Ohio State late in the season, or maybe for bowl season. So what now? On the latest episode of Buckeye Talk from cleveland.com, Doug Lesmerises is joined by guest co-host Chad Peltier to answer that question. Peltier digs in on OSU numbers when he writes about the Buckeyes for Land-Grant Holy Land and Football Outsiders, and he brought that analytical perspective to a full discussion about the Buckeyes. The focus early was on the Ohio State defense creating, and giving up, explosive plays, and whether that can be a winning formula. Then Doug and Chad took your questions and got into red zone offense, reasonable expectations for the Buckeyes, cornerback play and what's up with the run game. It's the Buckeye Talk you know and love with a little twist. Thanks, as always, for listening. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This week on Sabbath Shalom with Brother Doug, Mark talks about the time he tried to infiltrate Scientology and the impacts--both negative and positive--it's made on his life. Then Doug puts it all into perspective.
Never before had Tyrod Taylor started an NFL game and completed fewer than half his passes. So that 15 for 40 performance in the rain against Pittsburgh on Sunday, that wasn't him. "I put that on the whole unit," offensive coordinator Todd Haley said Thursday. "That's kind of the point that I'm making that we need to speed this process of trust because to be a good or big-time passing offense, you better have trust in everyone." So look for trust in week two. And look for what happens when there's no rain. In a dome against New Orleans, the Browns should get a much better idea of their 29-year-old veteran quarterback. According to Pro Football Focus, there were 149 uncatchable passes thrown by all 32 NFL teams last week. That's an average of 4.6 per team. By the PFF numbers, Taylor threw a league-high 14 uncatchable passes. But Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger threw 10. So what was happening in FirstEnergy Stadium made life difficult on both quarterbacks. To break that down, Doug Lesmerises is joined by two guests on Takes By The Lake this week. First is John Kosko of Pro Football Focus, who took us inside the numbers on Taylor, Desmond Harrison, Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward and the rest of the key Browns. Then Doug was joined by previous TBTL guest Dan Whalen, the former All-American quarterback from Case Western Reserve who told us what he thought of Taylor's game, what it's like to throw in the rain and how he would balance Tayler and Baker Mayfield if he were in charge of the Browns.
