LeBron James couldn't play Sunday against Denver, because his squishy ankle didn't respond well to the pounding it took in Friday's loss to New Orleans. Anthony Davis give it what he had, but his injured foot was clearly limiting him despite posting solid numbers (29/9/8). Russell Westbrook had a nice day, too! The Lakers played hard, but in the end, they lost. And with that, their already tenuous chances of qualifying for the play-in tournament took a massive hit. At this point, with James and Davis severely hobbled and the math most decidedly against them, is it worth sending the stars out, when the risk of more serious injury seems to loom over everything they do? Meanwhile, Frank Vogel was at it again, making decisions around the lineup seemingly designed to trigger Lakers fans. Austin Reaves got another DNP-CD, while Avery Bradley got another start. Was Vogel screwing up yet another game? Or did this one make sense? Does it matter? In a year where every decision amounts to "pick your poison," does it make more sense to focus on which poison is chosen, or the fact that all the options will kill you? Finally, after the game Frank Vogel, Anthony Davis and Carmelo Anthony all reflected on the "what if?" potential of this team, that definitely never got a chance to get going, from a health standpoint. But in a world where the roster stays reasonably healthy, would this team have reached the heights they expected? It's a question the front office will have to grapple with, and there's some danger in the answer they might land on. And definitely danger in the process that might get them to that answer. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Another day, another loss, and it's basically all over but the funeral. The Lakers Lose to Miami... but Anthony Davis is Very Close to Returning!

Let's begin with the glass half full, shall we?The Lakers' 113-107 loss to the Heat in Miami featured a second half comeback cutting a lead once as big as 26 down to four, indicative of their unwillingness to fold up the tents and quit against a team outplaying them in every facet. However much you think that push was the Heat having pulled their starters and taking their foot off the gas, rather than the Lakers actually playing better, can be debated. But either way, the visitors deserve credit for wanting to make a game of things. But glass half empty... holy hell, did the Lakers play incompetently bad basketball during the first half and change against Miami! Like, shockingly bad! "WTF are you people doing???" bad. And that badness raised some interesting postgame thoughts from Russell Westbrook, Avery Bradley and LeBron James about issues like playing hard, playing smart, playing with purpose, and what are the biggest problems plaguing the Lakers right now. If nothing else, it revealed a lot about different world views of different players. And finally, Anthony Davis is very close to returning, likely sometime this week.. What are some of the immediate impacts of having him back?Plus, Dwyane Johnson eats (bleep)tons of cod!!! No. Really. Lakers Beat Timberwolves 108-103 Despite Westbrook TURNOVERS, LeBron 26 Pts, Monk 22 Pts, 4-9 3PT The Los Angeles Lakers got back to .500 with a 108-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. LeBron James led the way with 26 points as Los Angeles improved to 19-19. It ends his streak of seven straight 30-point games. Malik Monk added 22 points and Russell Westbrook had 20. It was a revenge victory for the Lakers, as they lost the previous two meetings against the Timberwolves earlier this season. The two teams will meet one more time this year in March. The Timberwolves fell to 16-20 after their third straight loss. Naz Reid had a season-high 23 points to go with 11 rebounds. Minnesota was playing without star big man Karl-Anthony Towns and point guard D'Angelo Russell, who are both in the NBA's health and safety protocols. Notable Stats F LeBron James, LAL: 26 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals G Malik Monk, LAL: 22 points, 4-9 3PT G Russell Westbrook, LAL: 20 points, 9 turnovers F Carmelo Anthony, LAL: 14 points, 3-7 3PT C Naz Reid, MIN: 23 points, 11 rebounds G Anthony Edwards, MIN: 18 points, 7 rebounds G Jaylen Nowell, MIN: 17 points (off bench) Lakers Win Despite Sloppy Game Despite playing at home, Los Angeles looked uncomfortable all night and played with a lack of discipline. The team's messy play allowed Minnesota to keep the game competitive. The Lakers had 11 turnovers in the first half with seven of them coming from Russell Westbrook alone. They also did a horrible job of finishing defensive possessions, allowing the Timberwolves to get offensive rebounds and dominate inside. Los Angeles entered the fourth quarter trailing by two against a team playing without two of its best players. But the Lakers were able to get timely buckets and stops to put the game away. Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony combined for 17 points in the fourth quarter. Defensive specialist Avery Bradley did a solid job slowing down Minnesota's backcourt players. It was a much-needed win to get the team back on track, but the Lakers should not be satisfied with it. Los Angeles was outrebounded 56-28, finished with 16 turnovers and surrendered 58 points in the paint and 20 second-chance points. The Lakers will have to clean things up going forward to truly compete against the elite teams in the Western Conference. So Z Nation, what did you think about the Lakers win against the Minnesota Timberwolves??? Comments down below

The Lakers aren't just on a two-game winning streak. (It's depressing that a pair of consecutive wins qualifies as a shift, but that's the world we currently live in.) They're also getting closer to some interesting roster decisions regarding the futures of Avery Bradley, Stanley Johnson, Darren Collison and perhaps even someone like DeAndre Jordan along the roster fringes. That in large part played a role in the trading of Rajon Rondo, which became official on Monday. Rondo went to Cleveland in a three-way deal with the Knicks that set up the former Laker champ with more playing time on a surprisingly good team (indicative of the respect and affection he garnered with the purple and gold brass, and in particular, Frank Vogel). It also saved L.A. about $4M in luxury tax money, which could create flexibility down the road.In any event, the team will soon have to decide about Johnson and Collison's next deals (their 10-day contracts have expired) and whether to guarantee Bradley's contract before January 7th. Collison doesn't appear likely to be retained, but the Kamenetzkys would be shocked if Johnson and Bradley didn't remain on the team until season's end. Both have earned their spots (and in Bradley's case, mea culpas from the doubting K Bros), and are also cool stories in a season that's been largely depressing. Lakers Suffer Embarrassing Loss To The Spurs 138-110, LeBron and Westbrook Combined For 66 Pts

Lakers Suffer Embarrassing Loss To The Spurs 138-110, LeBron and Westbrook Combined For 66 Pts LeBron James did all he could to propel the short-handed Lakers to victory, scoring a game-high 36 points alongside nine rebounds and six assists. However, the rest of the Lakers largely struggled on both ends en route to the 28-point loss. Seven players were listed on the Lakers' injury report before the game. Lakers big man Anthony Davis (sprained left MCL) and Kendrick Nunn (bone bruise: right knee) continued to be out with injuries. Trevor Ariza, Kent Bazemore, Avery Bradley, Malik Monk and Austin Reaves were out because of the NBA's health and safety protocols. This game also marked the last contest in Staples Center, which will go by Crypto.com Arena moving forward. The 13-18 Spurs have won two straight games. The 16-17 Lakers have lost four consecutive contests. Notable Performances: Spurs F Keita Bates-Diop: 30 points, 7 rebounds Spurs F Keldon Johnson: 16 points, 10 rebounds Spurs G Derrick White: 23 points, 7 assists Spurs G Lonnie Walker IV: 21 points Lakers F LeBron James: 36 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists Lakers PG Russell Westbrook: 30 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists Struggling Lakers Close Staples Center With a Whimper. It was an ugly first half for any Laker not named James, who had 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting (2-of-4 three-point range) at halftime. The rest of the team had 32 points on 12-of-29 shooting (1-of-10 on three-pointers). James also co-led the team in rebounds (six, with Dwight Howard) and paced the Lakers with four assists. This play more or less symbolized the Lakers' first half, with James doing everything in his willpower just to score a bucket. He took care of business himself here by spinning around White to the baseline and tossing a reverse layup over Jakob Poeltl as he hung in midair. The other player referenced there was Howard, who did work on the glass (nine rebounds) and added a pair of blocks. L.A. ended up outscoring San Antonio 68-50 in the paint. Russell Westbrook got going in the third quarter, scoring 17 of his 30 points. However, the Lakers' defense had no answer for San Antonio, who scored 33 points in the first, second and fourth quarters and 39 in the third. By that point, the damage was done. The Lakers' worst defensive effort of the season, coupled with an imbalanced offense for much of the game, closed the Staples Center era with a lopsided defeat for the home side. The Lakers are scheduled to host the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET in Crypto.com Arena's debut. So Z Nation, what did you think about the Lakers loss against the San Antonio Spurs??? Lakers HC Frank Vogel Enters COVID Protocols; David Fizdale to Coach vs. Bulls The Los Angeles Lakers will be without head coach Frank Vogel for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bulls. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported Vogel was placed in the league's health and safety protocols ahead of the contest. That means David Fizdale will be the acting head coach. Fizdale has head coaching experience from his time with the Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks. Sunday's game between the Lakers and the Bulls pits two of the teams that have made many of the league's headlines of late when it comes to the health and safety protocols against each other. L.A. has also missed assistant coach Phil Handy the last two games because of the health and safety protocols. In addition to Vogel, 48, Lakers swingman Kent Bazemore also entered the protocols Sunday. Bazemore joins teammates Avery Bradley, Talen Horton-Tucker, Dwight Howard, Malik Monk, Kendrick Nunn and Austin Reaves in the league's health and safety protocols. The Lakers are also without Anthony Davis, who will miss about four weeks with an MCL sprain in his left knee. Russell Westbrook was in protocols but was ruled clear and available prior to Friday's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeBron James was also in protocols earlier this month, but Charania reported the initial positive test was inconclusive and he was cleared with multiple negative ones. So Z Nation, what did you think about the Lakers troubles as of late??? Comments down below

Lakers Sign Isaiah Thomas To 10-Day Contract, Westbrook & Bradley Out With COVID Protocols

Lakers Lose Westbrook & Bradley Due To Health and Safety Protocols, Lakers Sign Isaiah Thomas Veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas had 42 points in his G League debut on Wednesday, and that performance reportedly was enough to impress the Los Angeles Lakers. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Thomas signed a 10-day contract with Los Angeles on Thursday. Thomas was last in the NBA near the end of last season, playing three games for the New Orleans Pelicans in the month of April. After he was unable to land with another team through the first two months of this season, Thomas signed a G League deal with the Grand Rapids Gold, the affiliate of the Denver Nuggets. Thomas has played for eight teams during his 11-year career. This will be his second run with the Lakers after he was traded to Los Angeles midway through the 2017-18 season. Thomas was limited to 17 games during his first stint with the team because of hip surgery. Los Angeles Lakers guards Russell Westbrook and Avery Bradley have entered the NBA's COVID-19 protocols, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin. Westbrook and Bradley reportedly become the latest Laker to enter protocols this week. Talen Horton-Tucker, Dwight Howard and Malik Monk were all placed in protocols earlier this week. Of note, Los Angeles bolstered its backcourt depth by signing two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract on Thursday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. The Lakers currently sit sixth in the Western Conference at 16-13. This latest development involving Westbrook is particularly important because of how much time LeBron James missed because of an abdominal strain. Head coach Frank Vogel hasn't had his three best players all healthy for very much of the season, which is tough when one of the three hasn't built on-court chemistry with the other two. So Z Nation, what did you think about the Lakers signing IT and how to you feel about the Lakers chances moving forward without Westbrook, Avery, Dwight, THT, and Monk due to COVID???? Well, the good cheer generated by the win in Dallas was fun while it lasted. Less than 48 hours after Austin Reaves became a folk hero with a game-winner against the Mavericks, all hell has broken loose for the Lakers. Since then, the Lakers have lost games to the Timberwolves (Friday) and Bulls (Sunday), lost various teammates to the health and safety protocols (as of this recording, the unavailable include Reaves, Talen Horton-Tucker, Avery Bradley, Malik Monk, Dwight Howard, and Kent Bazemore), lost head coach Frank Vogel to the protocols... and most importantly, lost Anthony Davis to a sprained knee in Minnesota. That injury is expected to keep AD out at least one month, and who knows how much longer, given his history with ailments.So. What are the Lakers to do from here?To begin, continue to play as hard as they did during the loss in Chicago, which will at least give them a fighting chance against many teams. (They can also do things like stop turning the ball over and missing free throws, but that approach has been ignored all season.) With Trevor Ariza finally back, they can further lean into playing the small ball that best suits them (albeit without Davis, which is the best version of that look). They can perhaps utilize Isaiah Thomas, here on a 10-day hardship contract, and having put up double figures in both games since he arrived. Given how Davis' absence dramatically affects the Lakers' defensive upside, they're gonna have to score more. But really, they're just gonna have to hang on tight for dear life. Make no mistake. Davis' injury is a really big, bad deal, and there ain't much way around that fact.Host: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT ONE: The Kamenetzkys break down the loss to Chicago, and where the Lakers stand with the roster decimated.SEGMENT TWO: How can Thomas and Ariza help the team?SEGMENT THREE: How can the Lakers best offset this period with Davis shelved?Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Sports has been ravaged of late with various COVID-19 outbreaks, and the Lakers have unfortunately been no exception. Already down Talen Horton-Tucker, Malik Monk and Dwight Howard after positive tests, Thursday saw Russell Westbrook and Avery Bradley join them in the health and safety protocols. For those keeping score at home, that leaves the Lakers perilously short on backcourt players, and specifically, point guards. As such, they're bringing back a familiar face. Former All-NBA/All-Star/half-season Laker Isaiah Thomas will reportedly join the team on a 10-day deal. How much he'll actually be able to help remains to be seen (his previous comeback attempts have stalled out), but Thomas is easy to root for, regardless. In the meantime, COVID-19 doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon, which means the NBA will have to figure out the best way to handle this new wave. Should they briefly pause the season? Is that necessary, much less doable? Would it even make much of a difference? In any event, for however long this disrupts the Lakers, the onus becomes that much greater for Anthony Davis to take his game to another level. And finally, Austin Reaves' game-winner against Dallas is yet another sign of being ready for a key rotation role. Would that emergence make the Lakers more likely to trade THT? Brian thinks yes. Andy says no.Hosts: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySegment 1: Westbrook and Bradley enter the protocols. After Thursday's exceptionally frustrating loss in Memphis, it was imperative, both pragmatically and psychologically, for the Lakers to prevent an even more demoralizing loss in Oklahoma City. While that shouldn't seem like a particularly tall order, between the Lakers' inconsistencies and knowing they've already lost twice to these guys, a win was hardly guaranteed. Especially with Anthony Davis missing the contest with a sore knee.Unless, of course, LeBron James says "Hell no" to the concept of losing to OKC, and plays in such a decisive manner on both sides of the ball that there was simply no way the Lakers would lay an egg. Which was the case. He played with the body language of a man more than willing to handle the opposition by himself, but thankfully, he got some strong assistance from Avery Bradley and Austin Reaves to help put the Lakers over the top. Where things go from here, who knows with this team? But for now, the bleeding has stopped. The Lakers Lose In Memphis Leaving LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Frank Vogel (and You, Likely) Very Frustrated.

After Tuesday's downright inspiring win over the Boston Celtics, there was a sense that perhaps a breakthrough had been discovered, and this victory at the soon-to-be Crypto.com Arena was the start of something big for a Lakers team perpetually scuffling around the .500 mark. That sense turned out to be... well... wrong. After getting off to a strong start in Memphis, the Lakers fell 108-95 to the Grizzlies, while drowning in a sea of turnovers, defensive rebounds surrendered, and missed opportunities. LeBron James played very well, but Anthony Davis was unremarkably solid, Russell Westbrook was pretty bad, and nobody else, save perhaps Avery Bradley(!), particularly stepped up.But even more than all of that, the Lakers, once again, allowed themselves to get out-efforted, out-disciplined, and out-purposed. The question of whether this team can stay focused and on task for 48 minutes has been as big a theme as Frank Vogel's starting lineup (which began small), his rotations (which increasingly skewed towards size) and how well these pieces actually fit. After the loss, Vogel, LeBron James and Anthony Davis vented a lot of frustration. Which is certainly what fans want to hear after a disappointing loss. What actually comes from that frustration, and whether it's just lip service or a "Come to Jesus" moment, remains at best an open question.Hosts: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT ONE: Above all, the theme of this loss was frustration.SEGMENT TWO: LeBron's energy was great, but he still needs to overwhelm games more on a regular basis.SEGMENT THREE: For many reasons, Frank Vogel is struggling to find answers.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Avery Bradley's playing time (as in "why does he play so much?") has been a source of great controversy among Lakers fans and media. Well, Frank Vogel was asked by Brian himself on Monday after Lakers practice exactly what keeps Bradley in the lineup. As Vogel explained, a lot has to do with Bradley's mindset, which mirrors what his coach wants from a team that's not playing hard enough on a regular basis. And say what you will about Bradley, but he never takes off possessions. Still, is that a valid reason, when the numbers say way otherwise?Another interesting wrinkle from practice was a Q&A with Trevor Ariza, who's been largely out of sight while recovering from ankle surgery. There's still no timetable for a return, but that he spoke with the media at all would indicate he's relatively close. @DodgerDanD told the Kamenetzkys via Twitter (@kambrothers) that Vogel propping up the 37 year-old Ariza as a future difference maker is ridiculous. Is he right? And finally, another harsh fan comment, this time on the Locked On Lakers YouTube channel from "TK." In a nutshell, the poster thinks Anthony Davis is overrated and not doing nearly enough to elevate the Lakers.Hosts; Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT ONE: Frank Vogel explains his rationale for starting Avery Bradley. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook Fuel Win Over the Pistons. Is the Lakers' Rotation changing?

There was nothing inspiring about Sunday's 110-106 win for the Lakers over the Pistons at Staples Center. After a dominant third quarter (no, seriously), it looked like L.A. might finally get themselves the type of easy win that would make it possible to have a little fun, and at least feel for a minute or two like they're a legitimately good team. To get a little swagger and build some momentum.Nope.A 19-point advantage was whittled away, and the Lakers had to hold off Detroit down the stretch. So that's the downside. The upside? They won, and given how the season has gone to this point, that's about all you can ask for. It was a good night for the Big Three, with Anthony Davis dominating early (13 first quarter points), Russell Westbrook (25/6/9 w/ only three turnovers) playing well throughout and LeBron James (33/5/9) doing LeBron things. After, they talked about building blocks and small goals as they try to right the ship. Whether the patience and calm is performative or not - really, what's the other option? - it's clear the Lakers as a group know there is a tremendous amount of work to be done.To that end, more changes in the rotation are coming. Vogel indicated that they plan to lean more into small ball, particularly in the second units, which means that for the time being fans are likely to see DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard on any given night, but likely not both. That's good! And while you can debate which guy is better or when he should play, some of that is just not all that important. On the other hand, Avery Bradley still looks like he's going to absorb a decent chunk of playing time, night to night. That's a little harder to defend. On to Sacramento!HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: A win's a win's a win's a win, right?SEGMENT 2: What do the Lakers think of themselves? For a second straight game, the Lakers found themselves in overtime, and for the the second straight game they found a way to get a win. In this case, it was against a very good Miami Heat team, which made the absences of Rajon Rondo and Austin Reaves (on top of LeBron James, et al) even more of a potential obstacle to conquer. And the overall performance wasn't perfect. But it was also often quite good on both sides of the ball, and featured strong performances from Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Avery Bradley, and especially Malik Monk, who led the team in scoring with 27 points off the bench. After the win, Frank Vogel and several players noted how last Saturday's horrendous, disengaged loss to the Trail Blazers forced everyone to take a long look in the mirror and honestly assess some problems. A two-game winning streak doesn't mean everything's been fixed, and however great these Lakers can be, that level won't arrive until they have a full roster. What can be controlled until then, however, is their effort and attitudes. It was reassuring (not to mention, fun) to see a better version of both on display. In the meantime, these Lakers are now 3-0 in overtime. The Lakers are coming off a win where they held Houston to 85 points. Granted, the Rockets are a godawful team, with about six months of collective NBA experience between the players, but that's still a very low score. Is this a sign of the Lakers starting to drill down on Frank Vogel's defensive principles? Without getting ahead of ourselves... perhaps. Russell Westbrook talked after Monday's practice pretty candidly about how he needs to adjust some past habits of gambling and going for steals, and play within a more structured defensive scheme. Westbrook isn't known (rightly) as a particularly good defender, and correcting bad habits isn't simple, especially for superstars used to getting their way, but trying to is the first step. And an important one, since this team isn't blessed with enough plus defenders where guys can get away with doing their own thing.Along these lines, Avery Bradley's minutes have been steadily rising, which wasn't necessarily expected when he signed a late preseason non-guaranteed deal. But perhaps it should have been, because Vogel loves Bradley, and Bradley is a very conscientious, determined defender. It doesn't feel coincidental that he's starting to play more, nor does it feel as certain that his stay with the team will be short. If he's a permanent part of the rotation, particularly once guys like Trevor Ariza, Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn return, what will that mean for the divvying of minutes? For that matter, do we imagine him as a permanent part of a small ball starting lineup like Vogel ran out Sunday? Finally, Carmelo Anthony is thriving as a sixth man, but takes exception with a narrative where it's surprising that he'd accept this role. Does he have a point?HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT ONE: Are the Lakers turning a defensive corner?SEGMENT TWO: Is Avery Bradley due for more minutes on a regular basis?SEGMENT THREE: Is Melo's reputation for stubbornness merited?Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!ShopifyGo to Shopify.com/lockedonnba for a FREE fourteen-day trial and get full access to Shopify's entire suite of features.Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Lakers are now above .500 after a 95-85 win over a seriously hapless Houston Rockets squad, and by flipping their typical script. For once, it was their defense that was most reliable, while the offense was spotty. Granted, it snuck up on Brian that the Lakers' offense has been so effective in the first place, but frankly, given the defense the front office sacrificed this offseason to improve the scoring, it ought to be better. Take away a penchant for awful turnovers, like the Lakers actually did on Sunday, and for the most part, that's been the case. But how much was the improved defense indicative of better execution vs. the fortune of a terrible opponent? It's hard to say. But similar to Carmelo Anthony's four block/two steal night, which isn't likely to be repeated anytime soon, as long as the Lakers can regularly do something in between tonight and their most pathetic, at least some issues can be fixed until the return of potentially helpful folks like Trevor Ariza, Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn. (This is another area where if the Lakers stopped turning the ball over so much, it would help a lot.)Finally, Frank Vogel changed the starting lineup, sliding Anthony Davis to center and putting Avery Bradley into the backcourt alongside Russell Westbrook. The decision was sparked in part by Dwight Howard's unavailability (neck stiffness), so they needed DeAndre Jordan as a backup center option. But it was something Vogel had considered anyway, and the Rockets were a good match for this experiment. Time will tell how often Vogel keeps this look, but either way, it felt like a sign of more minutes to come for Bradley.Hosts: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: How the Lakers beat the Rockets (besides Houston just being terrible).SEGMENT 2: Are the Lakers starting to figure out things defensively?SEGMENT 3: What can be read into Sunday's different starting lineup?Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!ShopifyGo to Shopify.com/lockedonnba for a FREE fourteen-day trial and get full access to Shopify's entire suite of features.Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Lakers disappointed in their opening night loss to the Golden State Warriors, but for some fans another disappointment came with a starting lineup that included DeAndre Jordan starting at center, as opposed to one featuring Anthony Davis at the five. It wasn't exactly a surprise, given the team's current injury woes that have thinned out the rotation and will limit coach Frank Vogel's options, but is it the start of a trend that might last the season? And if Jordan starts, does it matter that much assuming Davis plays the bulk of his minutes as a center? On Tuesday, it was over 50% of his floor time. Is that enough? Should we expect that percentage to grow over time, when Vogel has more choices at his disposal? What's the right figure? Meanwhile, the Lakers gave unexpected floor time to Avery Bradley, mostly because the team's defense was so porous along the perimeter. The CW when the Lakers signed Bradley was that his presence is likely temporary, holding down the fort until reinforcements heal up.Is the CW a little shaky? And what about Westbrook? What might get him feeling more comfortable with LeBron James and Davis going forward? A listener reacting to Tuesday's loss had an interesting proposal about Westbrook's fourth quarter playing time. Is he on the right track? Finally, the Lakers play two of the more intriguing Western Conference teams this weekend in Phoenix (Friday) and Memphis (Sunday). What makes these teams so interesting? How good could they be?HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!SweatBlockGet it today for 20% off at SweatBlock.com with promo code LockedOn, or at Amazon and CVS.Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. 2021-22 Season Predictions: Will LeBron James and the Lakers Win an NBA Championship?

IT BEGINS TODAY! The Lakers kick off the 2021-22 NBA season, against the Golden State Warriors. So what's going to happen this year? It's time to make some big predictions. But first, a little more housekeeping as the Lakers finalized their roster. They returned another familiar face to El Segundo, claiming Avery Bradley off waivers after the veteran guard was cut by Golden State at the end of the preseason. Bradley will provide a little bit of depth as the Lakers recover from injury, and in theory at least could help bolster a backcourt short on defenders. Then again, there's no guarantee he'll be on the team in six weeks. Why did they go this direction, when help on the wings remains a much more pressing need from a roster construction perspective? Then, Frank Vogel talked about keeping LeBron James's minutes around 34 a game. Same with Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. Is that too many? Just right? LeBron says he doesn't like sitting, and actually feels worse when he plays less. Is he... um... full of it, just trying to maximize how much he'll play? And should everyone worry more about LeBron, or Davis and Westbrook? Just because LeBron is the oldest doesn't mean he's the most fragile. From there... PREDICTIONS! It's time to answer the following.... Where will the Lakers finish in defensive efficiency? How good do they need to be? What will they shoot from 3-point territory? What's the best way to boost that number? How many times will this year will Dwight Howard foul out? How many times will he be ejected? How much small ball center will LeBron and Carmelo Anthony play, and what does that say about lineups the Lakers might try? Plus two BOLD PREDICTIONS, about injuries and the number of dimes Westbrook and LeBron will drop this season. And finally, the biggest prediction of all: Will the Lakers win an NBA title this year? If not, who is the biggest threat? It might not be the team you're thinking.HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!SweatBlockGet it today for 20% off at SweatBlock.com with promo code LockedOn, or at Amazon and CVS.Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
