Trump's new administration has a plan to reimagine America's monetary policy through a pivot to gold and the devaluing of the Dollar. The tariffs are an indicator that what was done in 1971 when America depegged from gold might be a signal that a massive change is impending once again, this time in reverse. Matt Smith and Doug Casey look for opportunities that present themselves during times of instability and crisis, and there has never been more uncertainty with the direction of the country than there is now. Mining stocks have tremendous upside in Trump's new system, as gold currently smashes through all-time highs. Could silver have a breakout, and what is the role of Bitcoin in this new system? Matt Smith has thoughts on how to position yourself to deal with the changes that are coming. Tuesday, February 18th, 2025Laramie, WyomingEarlier today I hosted a live call with Matt Smith from Doug Casey's Crisis Investing. During the chat, the gold price made an intra-day high of over $2,950/oz. Later in the chat, Matt made the case for why gold could go as high as $21k/oz.Why? How? When? What should you do next? All good questions! You can click on the video above to watch (I'm having a transcript made as well, but wanted to send you this as soon as possible). Here's a breakdown of the key topics we covered, with timestamps so you can jump to what matters most to you.Timestamps & Major Topics[00:00:00] Kicking things off – Matt and I set the stage for the conversation.[00:01:00] A little about Matt – If you don't know his background, here's a quick rundown: entrepreneur-turned-regenerative cattle farmer in Uruguay, working with Doug Casey, and a big believer in getting geographically unlinked from centralized systems.[00:02:00] What is regenerative farming? – How Matt runs 250 head of cattle with zero external inputs, and why this model matters in today's world.[00:04:00] The Mar-a-Lago Accords – Trump's team has a real plan to reset the monetary system. It's not just talk. We break down what's coming and what it means for you.[00:07:00] Why they want to devalue the dollar – Trump's people think the dollar is way too strong, making U.S. exports uncompetitive. Their solution? Drive it lower. Here's how they're doing it.[00:11:00] Will this actually work? – Whether they pull it off or not, the fact that they're even trying is a game-changer.[00:13:00] Gold's role in the reset – Trump's team isn't stupid. They know gold is key to restoring faith in the financial system. We go deep into how they might use it.[00:16:00] What's really in Fort Knox? – Elon Musk and Rand Paul want an audit of U.S. gold reserves. If it turns out the gold isn't there (or if there's way more than expected), what happens next?[00:18:00] Gold's breakout – Is this rally the start of something huge, or just another head fake? Spoiler: this one looks real.[00:21:00] Infrastructure & energy – Trump wants to rip out the regulatory roadblocks and supercharge energy and AI. This could be the biggest infrastructure buildout since the 1950s.[00:26:00] Mining stocks – They've been dirt cheap and ignored for years. That's starting to change. Here's why it's a massive opportunity.[00:28:00] The final gold bull market? – Doug Casey has called this the last great gold boom before gold gets re-monetized. If he's right, this is your last chance to play it.[00:33:00] The risks no one talks about – Even if Trump's team pulls this off, does it just lead to an even bigger, more centralized government? We dig into it.[00:38:00] Redeemability – Will this new system actually let people redeem dollars for gold, or is it just another illusion?[00:41:00] The China model? – Trump's approach has a lot in common with China's industrial strategy. Is that where we're heading?[00:45:00] Wrapping up – Everything's about to change. Are you ready for it?Bottom LineGold's on the move. There are reasons why. But there are a lot of dots to connect. And the picture they make isn't entirely clear. This call with Matt helped us understand some of what's happening, what to expect next, and most importantly, what you should do with your money now. Surviving and Thriving in the Coming Crisis With Doug Casey Doug Casey has garnered a well-earned reputation for his erudite (and often controversial) insights into politics, economics, and investment markets. Doug is widely respected as one of the preeminent authorities on “rational speculation,” especially in the high-potential natural resource sector. Doug wrote the book on profiting from periods of economic turmoil: his book Crisis Investing spent weeks as #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and became the best-selling financial book of 1980 with 438,640 copies sold; surpassing big-caliber names, like Free to Choose by Milton Friedman, The Real War by Richard Nixon, and Cosmos by Carl Sagan. He has been a featured guest on hundreds of radio and TV shows, including David Letterman, Merv Griffin, Charlie Rose, Phil Donahue, Regis Philbin, Maury Povich, NBC News, and CNN; has been the topic of numerous features in periodicals such as Time, Forbes, People, and the Washington Post; and is a regular keynote speaker at FreedomFest, the world's largest gathering of free minds. Doug has lived in 10 countries and visited over 175. He currently spends most of his time in Argentina and Uruguay, and traveling to various dysfunctional hellholes. Today you're most likely to find him at La Estancia de Cafayate, an oasis tucked away in the high red mountains outside Salta, Argentina. Cafayate most resembles the isolating beauty of Bryce Canyon, Utah combined with the lush vineyards of Napa Valley. Residents enjoy economic and social freedoms not found in the US and some of the best wine and golf on the planet. Speculator (High Ground Novels Book 1) The original International Man and #1 New York Times bestselling author Doug Casey joins forces with Dr. John Hunt to create a new type of hero. Charles Knight is young, but he knows right from wrong. He's well educated because he decided to drop out of high school, and considered college a misallocation of both his time and money. Instead, he reads and listens, works and creates. He figured out that you can't become a Renaissance Man by sitting in a classroom. Charles Knight is a modern Count of Monte Cristo, the sort of hero we haven't seen since Atlas Shrugged. He is a leader, but with no interest in leading. A soldier of fortune who tries to avoid fighting. He becomes rich, famous, powerful, loved–and hated. He changes the course of world history as he follows his code. Join Charles Knight on his quest to live a good life, an exotic life, a life of adventure. It all starts with Speculator. –This text refers to the paperback edition. Assassin: Book 3 of the High Ground Novels Charles Knight is released from an especially unpleasant stay in prison, only to rejoin a society overwhelmed by looting, riots, arson, viral panic, mob-think and economic decay . . . with a presidential election in the balance. The cronies are in charge, abetted by their media lackeys and political puppets. They'll do anything to get what they want. How can Charles stop the deadly crimes committed by those who control the law, print the money, and confuse the minds of the people? Crimes that push millions into poverty, servitude and ignorance. Will a highly unorthodox presidential candidate and a cryptocurrency network that turns the surveillance state on its head be enough to expose and defeat them? Or do some people just need to be killed? The cronies are moving fast. Charles Knight needs to move faster. In this episode of the Climate Correction Podcast, guests Sonia Brubaker and Sonia Succar Ferré delve into the critical work being done by the City of Miami Forever Bond Board Committee to address the city's escalating climate crisis. With a $400 million bond passed to combat the impacts of flooding, extreme heat, and a myriad of climate-related challenges, the City of Miami is taking significant steps towards a more resilient future. The city has also declared a climate emergency and has committed to becoming net zero by 2050.   The episode kicks off with a discussion of the dire climate situation facing Miami, emphasizing the urgency of the bond's initiatives. Brubaker and Succar Ferré highlight how the funding from the bond is being allocated to implement nature-based solutions that can mitigate climate risks while also enhancing the city's green infrastructure.  One key highlight of the episode is the recent legislative developments aimed at incorporating more nature-based solutions into infrastructure projects. The hosts detail how Miami is embracing innovative approaches to adaptation and mitigation, including green roofs, urban forests, and sustainable drainage systems. These measures not only enhance climate resilience but also improve the overall quality of life for Miami's residents.  Another crucial topic covered is the forthcoming RFP (Request for Proposals) ordinance and resilience checklist, which are set to transform the way firms bid on bond projects. By diversifying the pool of bidders to include more landscape architects and climate scientists, the City of Miami aims to bring multidisciplinary expertise to the table. This approach ensures that climate resilience projects are not only technically sound but also ecologically sustainable and community centric.  As the episode concludes, Brubaker and Succar Ferré underscore the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including government bodies, environmental organizations, and the public, in realizing Miami's climate resilience goals. The City of Miami's commitment to addressing climate change through innovative funding, legislation, and a holistic approach to resilience shines brightly in this enlightening discussion.  Listeners are left with a sense of hope and inspiration, knowing that the City of Miami is taking bold steps to confront its climate challenges head-on, setting an example for cities worldwide. This episode serves as a testament to the power of collective action and forward-thinking policies in the face of an ever-pressing climate crisis.  Links to learn more:   https://www.miami.gov/Home  https://www.miami.gov/My-Government/ClimateChange    Guest Bios  Sonia Brubaker  Sonia Brubaker is the Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Miami. Will Freedom Prevail Against Digital Tyranny? With Doug Casey According to Doug Casey "Governments will probably mandate Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) as the “solution” when the next real or contrived crisis hits—which is likely not far off." Casey returns to the Outer Limits of Inner Truth to discuss CBDC's and his other predictions for the coming year. Buckle up because it's going to be a bumpy ride. -------------- Best-selling author, world-renowned speculator, and brilliant libertarian philosopher Doug Casey returns to the Outer Limits of Inner Truth for the fifth time. Casey offers his latest worldview perspectives and shares a lot of great ideas on how to insulate yourself from the Orwellian Era. Doug Casey has garnered a well-earned reputation for his erudite (and often controversial) insights into politics, economics, and investment markets. John Soforic is the owner of a real estate business and enjoys total financial freedom. He wrote The Wealthy Gardener: Lessons on Prosperity between Father and Son to distill his own wisdom on money and success for his ambitious son who was entering adulthood. John's book became a huge success, a best-seller, and an instant classic. He has lived in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Patti, for over 30 years. He has a daily wealth blog at wealthygardener.com We talk about 1)       John's childhood and upbringing and how those days influenced his relationship with money 2)      The unique storytelling shared in the book, a parable of a Wealthy Gardener, and John's own intimate stories of struggles and success 3)      John explains how financial freedom is a way of life 4)      We learn from John that “prosperity is the power to take a walk in the woods on a weekday, pay for college tuition, and live with choices, options, and power.” 5)      We have a fascinating discussion about how we spend our time and the need for impact activity in our days. 6)      John shares his experience with stock market investments and how real estate investment resonated better with his personality and expertise. 7)      We talk about the discomfort and the pursuit of wealth 8)      The importance of relationships and alone time 9)      Last but not least, we touch on John's own definition of success. John and I had a really fun conversation that continued after we stopped recording. I shared my last book with him, and he was kind enough to contribute to my new book, Crisis Investing. Casey and Smith also discuss the problems with the jury system and express concern about the lack of fairness in the legal system. They then shift to discussing the use of AI to alter historical documents held by the National Archives. Finally, they discuss the potential collapse of the markets and the impact this could have on insurance companies and pension funds. The episode ends on a lighter note with a joke about aliens or chat GTP saving them. Summary: Thought leader Doug Casey joins us in this episode to discuss the endangerment of critical thinking, posing major risks for global politics and the economic future alike. Doug attributes the root of the problem to increased support for organized coercion—a system that only looks attractive when economics and history are excluded from the equation. This lack of background knowledge and reasoning is already giving way to major difficulties (i.e. trade and food supply chain) and we're subsequently seeing the dissolution of the globalist model. The government's survival mode tactics may adversely affect the survival of its people, and it's only a matter of time before this becomes even more clear. Tune in for more insight. Chat GPT Article on Doug Casey: “Doug Casey is a well-known investor, author, and entrepreneur in the world of finance. He is a strong advocate for gold and has been investing in the precious metal for over four decades. Casey is the founder and chairman of Casey Research, a company that provides investment analysis and research to its clients. Through his company, he has been a vocal advocate for gold, arguing that it is one of the best long-term investments an individual can make. Casey believes that gold is a safe haven for investors in uncertain times, as it holds its value regardless of the state of the economy. He also argues that gold is a hedge against inflation, as its value has historically risen in response to inflationary pressures. In addition to his investment in gold, Casey is also known for his advocacy of individual liberty and free-market capitalism. He has written several books on these topics, including "Crisis Investing" and "The International Man." Casey is a strong believer in the importance of diversifying one's investments, both in terms of asset classes and geography. He argues that investors should have a portion of their portfolios in physical gold, held in a secure location outside of their home country. Despite his strong views on gold and investing, Casey is also known for his contrarian outlook. He often takes positions that run counter to the prevailing wisdom in the investment world, and has been successful in his investments as a result. In conclusion, Doug Casey is a prominent figure in the world of finance and investing, known for his advocacy of gold and individual liberty. He is the founder and chairman of Casey Research, and has written several books on the topics of investing and personal freedom. His contrarian outlook and strong beliefs have made him a respected voice in the investment community.” Useful Links: Financial Survival Network Doug Casey's International Man Doug Casey's Take

Today's guest last joined Dan at the Investor Hour table when the world was in the throes of a newly declared pandemic. This time, he visits us amid rampant inflation... a newly declared bear market... and likely a nascent recession. Doug is the founder of Casey Research and a prolific writer with several highly acclaimed books under his belt. His financial book Crisis Investing was a New York Times No. 1 bestseller for weeks, dethroning the works of heavyweights such as economist Milton Friedman, former President Richard Nixon, and astronomer Carl Sagan. Doug isn't afraid to let loose on controversial topics like the Second Amendment and the police. And he doesn't mince words when it comes to Uncle Sam...  I despise politics... Politics is actually institutionalized coercion. It's all about the government and who runs it. The government is an entity that holds a gun to your head – subtly or overtly – and tells you to do what you're told. Increasingly, American life is revolving around the state, the government, and what it does... That's putting people at odds with each other.  Thanks to Big Brother's excessive intervention throughout the years, Doug says, "The entire country has been greatly over-financialized... It's all going to come crashing down." He decries the U.S. Federal Reserve's heavy-handed plays and longs for a "stable, capitalist free market society." And as for Dan's customary Final Question, Doug says rather than an "instant cosmic breakthrough," he'd like to leave listeners with a short-but-sweet, positive affirmation... Don't sweat the small stuff... Just try to live an ethical life. Try to be happy, try to be mellow, and things will take care of themselves.
