Bad Dads Film Review

This week on Bad Dads Film Review, the dads dive into Luc Besson's cult aquatic epic The Big Blue — a nearly three-hour blend of freediving rivalry, French mysticism, Jean Reno charisma, dolphin longing and some deeply questionable romantic choices. What we coveredLe Grand Bleu: the original title, the French phenomenon, and whether saying it properly makes the film any shorter. The director's cut runtime and the general feeling that 168 minutes is a lot of ocean. The black-and-white childhood opening in Greece, where Jacques and Enzo's friendship/rivalry begins.Jacques witnessing his father's diving death, and how the sea becomes both trauma and home.Enzo's adult introduction: Jean Reno in full swagger mode, rescuing a trapped diver and somehow turning it into a payday.Jacques as scientific anomaly: slowing his heart rate, bonding with dolphins, and generally behaving less like a man than an aquatic screensaver with cheekbones.Rosanna Arquette's Johana, who falls hard for Jacques and makes some bold career decisions in pursuit of a man who would rather be underwater. The freediving championship sequences, including the dads trying to understand how niche sport fame works.Breath-holding records, Kate Winslet's lungs, pure oxygen cheating, and the grim reality that most of us are good for about 35 seconds.Enzo and Jacques' rivalry: affectionate, macho, dangerous, and meaningful mostly because Enzo needs it to be.The film's underwater photography, which everyone agrees is often genuinely impressive. The score, which won a César and still gets absolutely battered here.Cris's appreciation of the costumes, wetsuits, shirts, colour coordination and general seaside style. The dolphin break-out sequence, aka the brief Free Willy section of the film.Enzo's fatal final dive and Jacques' decision to return him to the depths.Jacques' final choice, Johana's pregnancy, and whether the ending is poetic transcendence or a man abandoning responsibility via dolphin.Key moments / quotesSidey clocks the film as having a “runtime of 73 hours”.Dan admits he chose it and remembered liking it, but that it was not as great as he remembered.Reegs describes the Amazon Prime aspect-ratio problem as so bad he had to find another version to watch it properly.Sidey asks whether Luc Besson edited it himself, because surely someone should have said: “This is not a fucking three-hour movie.”Reegs objects to the film romanticising Jacques, describing the ending as abandonment of a pregnant woman through grief and dolphins.Cris likes the style more than the film: the beachwear, shirts, boat shoes, wetsuits and Italian flag diving suit all get more enthusiasm than the story.Dan still has affection for the film's imagery, Jean Reno and the childhood memory of its oceanic grandeur.VerdictThe dads admire the look, the water photography and Jean Reno, but the film takes a pasting for length, pretension, thin characterisation, the writing of Johana, and Jacques being less romantic hero than emotionally unavailable dolphin botherer.A very Bad Dads kind of strong recommend: if you have three hours spare and absolutely nothing else to do, you might come away with some nice water and a deep desire to watch football instead. You can now text us anonymously to leave feedback, suggest future content or simply hurl abuse at us. Delivered by Johana from the Parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral, in the Archdiocese of Makassar, Indonesia. Wisdom 2: 1a.12-22; Rs psalm 34: 17-18.19-20.21.23; Yohanes 7: 1-2.10.25-30.HIS TIME DOES NOT YET COME The title for our meditation today is: His Time DoesNot Yet Come. Soon we will celebrate the holy week. It's about two weeks fromnow. The passion and death of Jesus Christ is the ultimate experience of Hissuffering. In anticipating this great celebration, we encounter the days thatprecede, including today, filled with various difficulties befalling on Jesus. The threats were truly real, direct, and certain for Him. He was on the vergeof persecution. Long before the real experience of Jesus Christ, thebook of Wisdom already described such persecution which was eventuallyrealized in Jesus Christ. He said: “Come, we try him with persecution andtorture, so that we know the gentleness and patience of his heart. Let uscondemn him to death, because according to him he must have received help” (Wis2, 19-20). The Gospel of John that we have just heard reaffirms the describedpersecution by saying: “The Pharisees tried to arrest Jesus but no one touchedHim, because His time had not yet come” (Jn 7.30). His time had not yet come because it should haddepended entirely on the Father's Will. Holy Thursday night and Good Friday hadnot yet arrived. All of us and everyone are subject to this particular timelimit. All of us must respect the important aspects to be happened in this timeof the Lord Jesus Christ. Although the waves of anger, jealousy, hatred, andviolence from His opponents seemed unchallenged, they were obliged to restrain.Even though man's will is very strong, God has the power to determine the timefor His Will to happen. What does it mean the imminent persecution of JesusChrist? First, we interpret it with our response "Amen". We acceptthis reality and believe it as a way of fulfilling the Father's will on thepart of Jesus, and as the content of our faith. In the prayer of "IBelieve" we express our faith by saying in this way: He who suffered underthe Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. We agree and acceptthis evil treatment towards Jesus which means we also accept the Lord's teachingand invitation to follow Him in every moment of suffering that we face in ourlives. We also interpret it as our act of faith, which meanswithout fear and doubt we continue to maintain the truth and wisdom in ourfaith responsibility to take part in God's work. Usually, the temptation forthose who are in a situation of suffering and persecution is fear andeventually surrender to the influence of the tempter. This is what an authenticfollower of Christ should not do. In an imminent trial or persecution we dohave courage to cry out: our courage and willingness to face is only for the sakeof our participation in the way of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... O merciful Father in heaven, strengthen usalways especially when we are in the midst of suffering and persecution, sothat we may remain always in Your way. Our Father who art in heaven... In thename of the Father ...

Delivered by Johana from the Parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in the Archdiocese of Makassar, Indonesia. Isaiah 65: 17-21; Rs psalm 30: 2.4.5-6.11-12a.13b; John 4: 43-54.GET THE ANSWER Our meditation today isentitled: Get the Answer. We are always satisfied, calm and at peace when ourquestion or search gets its answer. We certainly do not feel peaceful andsatisfied if we do not get the answer. Agreement is the answer to thediscussion on the different perceptions. Concept is the answer to theinterconnection of various arguments. System is the result of the integrationof different elements. Method is the fruit of the experiment process andanalysis of different variables. As followers ofChrist, we know that faith is the answer to the process of knowing andfulfilling God's call to every human person. By achieving and having faith, aperson is gifted with rights and obligations as a true follower of Christ. Theentrance to this faith is baptism that characterizes a person believing inJesus Christ as the Son of God who lives with the Father in communion with theHoly Spirit. The most importantright of a believer is his or her participation in Jesus Christ with the dignitybeing a brother or sister of Christ, or having special adoption as a son ordaughter of the Almighty Father. This basic right brings about awareness andestablishment of a Christian identity which is formed along with the calling ofeach individual to be the follower of Christ. The sons and daughters of God arecalled to become professionals such as teachers, public servants, technicians, business people, farmers, or politicians. Others are called to the service ofGod's people as priests, religious men and women, and married spouses.  The obligation as afollower of Christ is to be the sign of Christ's presence, light, and truth inthe world. Through baptism we are made witnesses of Christ, that through ourwords and deeds we become salt and light for the world. Our dignity as sons anddaughters of God and our Christian vocations will be fruitful and perfect if weresponsibly fulfill our obligation. And so, faith is thefoundation or beginning for the growth and work of our Christian life, thatexpresses the love of Christ and the hope to achieve a new heaven and earth, which is the kingdom of heaven, said the book of the prophet Isaiah in thefirst reading today. The royal official found the answer of faith, followingthe miracle happened in his family. That faith brought his whole family to God.They consecrated themselves to be part of Jesus Christ, and they had rights andobligations as the followers of Jesus according to the religious standard andcondition of that time. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Jesus Christ, thank you for the gift of your call to each one of us, andmay we always renew our faith in you. Hail Mary, full of grace... In the nameof the Father ...

Delivered by Dwi Setyo, Johana, Bryan Darwi and Karen from the Parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in the Archdiocese of Makassar, Indonesia. 1 Samuel 16: 1b.6-7.10-13a; Rs psalm 23: 1-3a.3b-4.5.6; Ephesians 5: 8-14; John 9: 1-41.SEEING THE GLORY OFGOD The title for ourmeditation today is: Seeing the Glory of God. A boy of grade 1 elementaryschool attended the Holy Mass with his parents. Before the Mass began, he askedhis parents, "Father, in here, where can I see God?" His father andmother confused to answer him. His father then founda way to answer. He hugged his son, then pointed to the top of the altar nearthe church roof. Glass windows were decorated with colorful sacred images, aswhen sunlight penetrates, radiate their lights into the church. They looks verybeautiful and gives the impression of majesty and holiness. "Thatillustrates there is God right here." The boy understood and did not askquestions anymore. The presence of Godrequires us to see Him. God is certainly unhappy and disappointed if we cannotknow him through our senses and our faith to acknowledge Him. What happens ifwe are not seen and acknowledged? We must be disappointed, angry and hurt. Therefore,in His relationship with humans throughout the history of salvation, God alwaysgives orders by saying: Look! or listen!. We are commanded tosee the glory of God present in us and around us. God gives us the ability tosee, in general there are two kinds. The easiest thing we do is by using oureyes, we can see everything that is in us and around us. The blind people or thosehave lost their ability to see with their eyes surely cannot see all the beautyand glory of God that they should see and admire. If you at this very momenthave certain sickness in your eyes that cause you cannot see properly andnormally, try some ways of healing and recovery, because that is the way youfollow the will of God. What is moredifficult to do is to use the eyes of faith or the eyes of our hearts. Thisability to see is strongly supported by a spiritual maturity, namely theability to see under the guidance of the divine light. With the faith we haveand live, we actually have the ability to see as God sees. The prophet Samuel, when choosing David from among his elder brothers, actually teaches us that wemust use the way to look from the heart and find its meaning in the heart. We need to educateourselves to always live as children of light, that is, in the guidance ofGod's Word and empowered with His love. Thus, the eyes of our bodies and theeyes of our hearts can help us to receive, acknowledge and embrace the glory ofGod in our lives.Let's pray. In the name of the Father...O most generous God, may with this Sunday celebration we will be moreexcited in preparing ourselves for the great feast of Easter which we will sooncelebrate. Our Father who art in heaven ... In the name of the Father ...

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Podcast Kriminálne spisy obsahuje násilné a sexuálne scény.
