Bookclub is the new live music venue and community space inside what used to be the Elbo Room. Begun as a DIY project by high school friends Cam Stacey and K.O. Weakley in 2021, Bookclub became a legitimate venue earlier this year — and they're already booking shows and welcoming neighbors every week. Stacey and Weakley sat down with Vocalo's Nudia Hernandez to discuss Bookclub's journey and their hopes for the future. This segment was hosted and produced by Nudia Hernandez. In hour four, more on the whereabouts of the Stanley Cup over the last 24 hours - from the Atlantic Ocean and Elbo Room to Roberto Luongo's desk today. Hoch is hyped up about an event at Raising Canes tomorrow with Matthew Tkachuk in Pompano. Plus, several NBA notes from around the league ahead of tonight's highly anticipated NBA Draft.  

The Oilers' playoff run lasted 63, and it was arguably the most fun I've ever had in a two-month stretch. Even though it sucks to be so close and still fall short, it's also hard not to feel proud about the way the Oilers finished.I start this week's episode of Better Lait Than Never with a quick recap of my trip to Florida for Game 7. Outside of the result, those were arguably two of the most fun days I've ever had. From the chartered flight down to the mayhem at the Elbo Room on Sunday night, the people we met along the way made the trip worth it even though we flew across the continent for only 36 hours. As always, Oilers fans travel incredibly well, and it was so much fun to see as many of us down there as there were. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the team had their end-of-season interviews today, and it was interesting to hear everyone speak about what that run meant to them. Obviously, we all wanted to hear Leon Draisaitl say that he was going to sign an extension ASAP, but it wasn't exactly surprising to hear him say that he needed some time to process what just happened, even though he admittedly loves playing here. It was also fascinating to hear from the likes of Warren Foegele, Connor Brown, and Mattias Janmark, three guys who weren't exactly shy about admitting they wanted to come back. Of course, the NHL is a business at the end of the day, and in the salary cap days, it will be interesting to see how the team navigates their pending UFAs. We also heard a report from TSN's Darren Dreger which stated that Ken Holland will not be back with the organization next year despite initially hearing that he had a role offered to him to stay. Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB about the Oilers bandwagon and capped off the pod with another round of voicemails ranging from Stanley Cup woes to positive messages and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Four hours of celebration as the Florida Panthers pull off a historic Game 7 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Amerant Bank Arena. Emotions were high all over South Florida last night and today as players and fans celebrated the first title in franchise history. Plus, Bill Lindsay's iconic celebration on the Panthers radio broadcast last night and Josh Appel joins the show to describe the scenes he witness at the Elbo Room today.

PSR Episode #02 Time 01:01:48 Our second episode features Marlon Gonzalez. Recorded at his studio apartment in San Francisco's Historic Lower Nob Hill District. Marlon, originally from New Jersey, is a record collector, musician, filmmaker and long time resident of San Francisco.  I've known Marlon for years. We have played records together since 2013. He was  an integral part of our soul night Hello Stranger at Rock Bar, Night Owls at Elbo Room and our East Bay night at Ruby Room Bar. You can catch him guest deejaying with me some nights at Homestead Bar on the 4th Friday of the month from 9 to close. We met to record this episode Thursday February 20th. Unfortunately, after reviewing it, we noticed some noise interruptions that made it unusable. It was a real bummer. We tried to re-schedule for another time. Tuesday March 3rd, the stars aligned. I jumped on Bart at 16th st, got off at civic center and crossed the colorful tenderloin towards Nob Hill. Met up at a coffee shop around 8pm and walked over to his apartment. It was a real treat tripping out on all the cool pictures and art inside his place. We talked, listened to jazz records and looked at books on vintage chinese film posters. Around 9pm we started setting up and double checked all equipment was working properly. Marlon grabbed a stack of 45's and things got underway. It was a great time. Im very excited to finally share this killer set of songs he put together for us. We hope you enjoy it. Matt Shapiro is a musician and the co-owner of the Elbo Room in Oakland. After initially working at the Elbo Room for years as its manager and booker, Matt and co-owner Erik Cantor purchased the bar in 2010.  The Elbo Room has been the home of Muni Diaries Live for many years, and just before its San Francisco location closed permanently, Matt joined Muni Diaries Live on stage to share one of the many memorable, behind-the-scenes tales from the fame club. This story involved Satan, his leather jacket, and the lengths that club owners will go to keep a promise. If you’ve been to our live shows, you know the highlight of every show is The Muni Haiku Battle. It’s a Muni-themed poetry throw down and we’ve had some pretty intense battle on stage of the 5-7-5 variety.  In this episode we have our reigning champion Alexandria Love and challenger Jessica Cohen from our 10th anniversary show this April at the Elbo Room. Jessica is an illustrator, an infrequent performer/fortune teller. Jessica grew up in the East bay and went to college in San Francisco. Host Peter Agoston and our guest, the prolific Yoni Wolf (aka WHY?) have known each other for 20 years now. And for at least the last 1-2, they have been discussing recording this podcast together. Gabe Armstrong stepped out of the sound booth (he is the audio engineer at the Elbo Room) to share his own Muni story, which happened during Bay to Breakers. Riding public transit can really change your perspective of what you should and shouldn’t be afraid of in life, Gabe says. And how did he learn this? By hauling the remainder of his B2B vehicle on Muni while under the influence of jello shots, of course.

On this week’s episode, we bring you Tarin Towers, a writer and longtime San Francisco resident. She's been riding Muni since 1995; in fact, she used to take the 22-Fillmore to her graveyard shift in the Japantown Denny's. Remember that place? On a bus ride during the first dot-com wave, she encountered someone whose casual nod was hardly the end of the exchange. This story was recorded at Muni Diaries Live on April 18, 2015, at the Elbo Room in San Francisco.

Mandy Hu is a lawyer by day; by night, she tells stories at the Moth, Queer Open Mic, and the Basement Series. In this week's episode, Mandy brings us a story about learning to let go of some habits when it comes to late-evening commutes, and somehow it involves Harry Potter. This story was recorded at Muni Diaries Live on April 16t, 2016 at the Elbo Room in San Francisco.

ChrisO is a musician and hair stylist at Honeycomb Salon in Noe Valley who has an impressive record collection. He regaled the Muni Diaries Live crowd at Elbo Room in April 2016 with a story of running into someone he knew from a past life on the bus, and you’ll have to watch the video to see what he found out. “I was taking the 19-Polk bus for the first time. In 2003, the buses that were used for the 19 line were the most florescent light-flickering, brownish yellowy interior-having, murdery buses in the whole city. They just looked like you were gonna die on them. We all get on the bus and I notice there is this guy staring at me. I thought: Is this like a “Cruising me to have sex thing, or pretending to cruise me to have sex thing so you can kill me?”

Scott Hamilton came in and joined us to record a session displaying his original music. We had such a wonderful time recording his show. Scott is a hard working muscian in the Chicago area.He plays weddings, backyard parties, rooftop parties, block parties, engagement proposals, birthdays, corporate events and more.My song list has over 300 songs from the 50's through today. I also write original music and can create custom songs for your event if you like. Brian Mazzaferri came into the studio with Percussionist Packy Lundholm and Bassist Hari Rao and we recorded 7 songs and cracked ourselves up at every opportunity.This trio puts out some amazing sounds.
