The Oilers' playoff run lasted 63, and it was arguably the most fun I've ever had in a two-month stretch. Even though it sucks to be so close and still fall short, it's also hard not to feel proud about the way the Oilers finished.I start this week's episode of Better Lait Than Never with a quick recap of my trip to Florida for Game 7. Outside of the result, those were arguably two of the most fun days I've ever had. From the chartered flight down to the mayhem at the Elbo Room on Sunday night, the people we met along the way made the trip worth it even though we flew across the continent for only 36 hours. As always, Oilers fans travel incredibly well, and it was so much fun to see as many of us down there as there were. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the team had their end-of-season interviews today, and it was interesting to hear everyone speak about what that run meant to them. Obviously, we all wanted to hear Leon Draisaitl say that he was going to sign an extension ASAP, but it wasn't exactly surprising to hear him say that he needed some time to process what just happened, even though he admittedly loves playing here. It was also fascinating to hear from the likes of Warren Foegele, Connor Brown, and Mattias Janmark, three guys who weren't exactly shy about admitting they wanted to come back. Of course, the NHL is a business at the end of the day, and in the salary cap days, it will be interesting to see how the team navigates their pending UFAs. We also heard a report from TSN's Darren Dreger which stated that Ken Holland will not be back with the organization next year despite initially hearing that he had a role offered to him to stay. Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB about the Oilers bandwagon and capped off the pod with another round of voicemails ranging from Stanley Cup woes to positive messages and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. So excited about this brand new episode featuring the Chicago based indie rock back The Foons! We did an instagram live interview last week and we had such a good time I knew I wanted to share it so everyone could hear their story. In 147 we discussed: -The formation of The Foons - Erik, Ross, Taed, Sam and Will are all extremely talented individuals who share a true passion for music. It all started over a casual dinner one night and shortly after they recorded a full album together - the rest is history -Their discography so far: We ran through some of their biggest releases yet including tracks off their debut album "Balloon Fruit" like "Growing Up", "Palm Song" and "Night Owl" which was played at Bulls and Blackhawks games! We also talked about their new album "Breakfast?" which takes a new "indie-electronica" spin on their sound - They just released a new track on Monday called "Mind Me" which will give you a little taste of what's to come :) -Favorite live show moments - The Foons have already had so much success performing at venues like "The Elbo Room", "Schubas/Lincoln Hall" and "The House of Blues" - one of Chicago's most famous music venues These guys are truly talented and I connected with them right away. I've got a special place in my heart for indie music - and any band that is influenced by LCD Soundsystem is guaranteed to be special! Thanks for coming on guys

I jumped on Bart at 16th st, got off at civic center and crossed the colorful tenderloin towards Nob Hill. Met up at a coffee shop around 8pm and walked over to his apartment. Finally captured just days ago in Oakland, Calif - the circumstances behind this meeting were by no means by choice. After the tragic, sudden passing of San Francisco based DJ/friend Stephanie Ornelas on Oct 1st, Agoston quietly put together an intimate and impactful celebration-of-life concert in San Francisco on Oct 12th at the Elbo Room. Yoni Wolf, one of the many performers, flew in from his home-base of Cincinnati for a performance. Peter DJ'ed for him and the day after, they sat for this convo. Discussing his life growing up in Ohio, the fateful move to the Bay Area and all points between - Agoston languid from the concert hopes that the listener isn't too confused by his semi-stream-of-conscious pontification with our nice guest. Signal-to-Noise (S/N) is a call to introspection. I won’t tell you what to believe. In fact, I suggest doing away with belief altogether. Assumption breeds delusion. An examination of the inner workings of the mind without judgement or preconception allows us to trade believing for knowing, to end suffering and free ourselves from the bounds of physical reality. This message is not my own. It is older than time itself. S/N’s music aims to reinvigorate the universal spirit dwelling within us all. Founded by Michael Downing in early 2015 following the release the debut album I Won’t Let the World Become a Prison, S/N first performed on Chicago Que4 Radio’s The Flabby Hoffman Show as an acoustic trio featuring Kayla Comerford and Matthew Dealy. S/N has since performed all over Chicago at venues including Underground Lounge, The Elbo Room, The Burlington, and recently as the opener for internationally touring band Little May at Chicago’s famous Schubas Tavern.
