Comedian Steph Tolev joins Adam in the studio to discuss her new Netflix special Filth Queen, the mental toll of online trolls, and unhinged social media comments. They dive into the pressure comedians face over appearances, from nose jobs to iconic stand-up outfits. Steph talks about her podcast tour, a touching letter her dad received, and how her mother wanted her to run their highland dance studio. Plus, she and Adam rant about dumb commercial tropes, Adam pitches a new product idea, they vent about oddly spelled names, and weigh in on the viral clip of Theo Von allegedly shoving a fan.Later, author and commentator Michael Malice calls in to talk about his new book, Not Sick of Winning: A History of President Trump's First 100 Days, and the strange trend of liberal men crossing their legs “like women.” He and Adam dissect the manipulation of language in political discourse, revisit Trump's controversial “China virus” comment, and engage in a thought experiment on the difference between builders and talkers. They also discuss what it would actually take to fix California—and whether New York's new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is part of the problem or the solution. In the news, comedian Rudy Pavich stops by to break down some wild headlines. First up, The Simpsons shocks fans by killing off Marge in the Season 36 finale, prompting Adam to reflect on his voice work as Death on Family Guy. Then, they react to Florida's controversial plan to detain migrants in a new Everglades facility dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz”—a low-cost, high-risk detention center surrounded by dangerous wildlife. Finally, they unpack the bizarre saga of disgraced influencer “Liver King,” who was arrested in Texas after posting unhinged videos and challenging Joe Rogan to a fight.Get it on.FOR MORE WITH STEPH TOLEV:INSTAGRAM & TWITTER: @stephtolevNETFLIX SPECIAL: Filth QueenFOR MORE WITH RUDY PAVICH:INSTAGRAM: @rudy_pavichWEBSITE: www.rudypavichcomedy.comFOR MORE WITH MICHAEL MALICE:INSTAGRAM & TWITTER: @michaelmaliceBOOK: Not Sick Of Winning: A History of President Trumps First 100 DaysThank you for supporting our sponsors:BetOnlinetry.drinkbrez.com/CAROLLA/ and use code CAROLLA for a $5 credit and free shipping on your first orderListen to Cocaine Air wherever you get your podcastsHomes.comPluto.tvSIMPLISAFE.COM/ADAMLIVE SHOWS: July 10 - Irvine, CA (Live Podcast)July 11-12 - Covina, CA (4 shows)July 17 - Plymouth, WIJuly 19 - Plymouth, WISee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

President Trump is pushing the boundaries of executive power in nearly every area of policy. From his trade war, to immigration, to education, to the reductions in the federal workforce. Many of his actions are direct challenges to the Courts and to Congress. Those two branches of government are designed to act as checks on the president. Trump has governed largely by unilateral executive action... and left lawmakers on the sidelines. Trumps First Week: A Mixed Bag of NUTS!!! he first week of the Trump presidency is on the books, and it went exactly as should have been expected. The businessman-turned-politician has bucked convention, promulgated falsehoods and begun the work of implementing his agenda. President Trump's first foray onto the global stage as president is already a mixed bag. As he hosts British Prime Minister Theresa May to discuss Brexit, Syria, and other global challenges, Trump is still smarting from the cancellation of the planned visit of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. The controversy was only heightened after the White House floated and then walked back a proposal for a 20% tax on Mexican imports to pay for the border wall—a plan that would have in effect had American consumers paying for it. But the more protectionist idea is something that the Trump administration is considering, if in an altered form, and signals that his rethinking of American trade policy is coming to fruition. U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley delivered a warning to foreign countries that the U.S. involvement with the UN is changing.”For those that don't have our back, we're taking names,” she said Friday. On todays Show James and Glenn Talk about The conversation is about the actions taken by President Trump on his first day in office, including signing a large number of executive orders and issuing blanket pardons for over 1,500 people involved in the January 6th Capitol riot. There is discussion about the legality and precedent of these broad pardons, and concerns that it could set a dangerous precedent allowing a president to pardon anyone who commits crimes on their behalf. The participants also discuss the release of Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road online marketplace, who was serving a lengthy prison sentence. There is debate around whether his crimes warranted such a harsh punishment. There are comments about Trump's strategic and aggressive approach in quickly signing so many executive orders on his first day, which the participants see as an effort to overwhelm and disrupt the opposing political establishment. Overall, the conversation reflects a strong pro-Trump perspective, praising his bold actions and seeing them as necessary to counter the perceived corruption and communist/Marxist influences in the government.

On this episode of the Munk Debates podcast, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and best selling author, Newt Gingrich, joins us to discuss the legacy of Trump's first term as president and where U.S. politics might be headed after November 3.
Today’s podcast is based on a recent article penned by Maya MacGuineas titled The Debt is Huge Because Trump Kept His Promises. Maya also appeared in David’s documentary The Tax Train is Coming. Much of what Maya says is that we shouldn’t be surprised by what happened during Trump’s first term since it has been exactly what he campaigned on. The debt that has accumulated has been a result of President Trump’s campaign promises of steep tax cuts and increased spending on both defense and veterans, and crucially, he promised to not make any changes to Social Security and MediCare. We are now paying the price for it. The numbers proposed were so huge that they seemed exaggerated and improbable, in other words, the amount of debt that Trump was looking to accumulate over the course of his first term was astronomical. The Nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated that Trump’s agenda would increase deficits over the next ten years by $4.6 trillion. The numbers at the end of Trump’s first term are even worse due to the extra spending for the Covid-19 lockdown. In Trump’s first three years he approved $3.9 trillion in borrowing just to pay for the tax cuts he introduced. Any good economist will agree that tax cuts are okay if they are paired with a commensurate decrease in spending, the problem is we didn’t do that. While all the other economies in the world are paying down their debts, the US is piling debt upon debt. The deficit has never been so high when coupled with an economy that was going as well as it was prior to 2019. When you add up the additional borrowing that the US made to deal with Covid-19 the impact is immense, and the borrowing is just beginning. The $2 trillion borrowed initially was only the first half of the bridge. Had we been more fiscally responsible prior to Covid-19 we would not be in the same bind. We would be in a better position to handle something like Covid-19 had we not accumulated so much debt prior to it. There are a few things that Trump did not follow through on. The business tax cuts have not paid for themselves. Trickle-down economics is the idea that decreased taxes and increased capital going to corporations leads to an increase in the economy, but that would only happen with a concurrent decrease in spending, which did not happen in this situation. Discretionary spending is a relatively small portion of the budget, roughly 23% of the economy, and while Trump proposed reducing discretionary spending it actually increased by over $700 billion. Part of the problem is that Trump ran on not touching Social Security or Medicare and every year that goes by where we do not reform Social Security or Medicare in some way has an economic cost. Every year that goes by where we fail to address these two programs means the fix on the backend is going to become even larger and even more draconian. According to the CBO Social Security is projected to be insolvent by 2031 when the youngest of today’s retirees turn 73. Ignoring these programs is not the same as protecting them. It dooms beneficiaries to large abrupt benefit cuts across the board or large tax increases on the population as a whole. The debt is headed towards a new record, in just a couple of years, it is projected to grow faster than the economy indefinitely. All major trust funds are heading towards insolvency because we have done nothing to fix them. All of the Covid-19 spending would have been more palatable as we come into the crisis with our fiscal house in order. Whoever is in the White House in January is going to have to put a long-term plan in place to reduce the debt once the economy is strong enough and save Social Security and Medicare. The scary part is that we are starting to hear more about Modern Monetary Theory and the idea that we can just print our way out of our issues without creating immense amounts of inflation. Take advantage of tax rates while they are historically low because they are not going to stay at these levels for long. Mentioned in this Episode: The debt is huge because Trump kept his promises - https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/10/05/debt-is-huge-because-trump-kept-his-promises/

Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden and Donald Trump, have squared off for their first leaders debate in the US. We speak to Feature Story's Simon Marks.
With America reeling from violent social unrest and the Administration's disastrous response to coronavirus, the Presidential election on Tuesday November 3 is arguably the most important in history. Here we look back over our coverage of the last 4 years - from the scientific backlash which followed soon after Trump's election in 2016, Russia's targeting of US democracy via hacking and social media, rejection of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, through to the Doomsday Clock ticking closer to midnight and breaches of security protocols at the White House.
