Interpreting Trump's First Trip to the Middle East

Send us a textGUEST: SOEREN KERN, geopolitical analystPresident Trump just returned from his first overseas trip of his second term. Where a president chooses to visit first is a signal of his priorities. That President Trump went to the Middle East and three Arab/Muslim countries—Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates (UAE)—speaks loudly about Trump's hope to bring peace and prosperity to the Middle East. Interestingly, Trump did not visit Israel, even though he was in the region.Trillions of dollars in investments by Arab countries to American businesses were negotiated. Trump met with sketchy leaders like Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who oddly gifted the U.S. a Boeing 747. Trump gave a major policy speech outlining his vision for the Middle East, which would have Saudi Arabia signing the Abraham Accords, a treaty normalizing relations between Arab nations and Israel. Meanwhile, Islamist Iran looms in the region, trying desperately to develop nuclear weapons. How to interpret all that took place? Christian geopolitical analyst Soeren Kern will join us this weekend on The Christian Worldview Radio Program to survey the many facets of President Trump's trip and how it will impact America and our longtime ally Israel. Soeren will also discuss the upcoming U.N. Palestine Summit June 17-20 in New York, which aims to “Take Irreversible Action Towards Implementing a Two-State Solution.” These are some of the subjects Soeren will be addressing in more detail in the June 2025 issue of The Christian Worldview Journal monthly print publication that is sent to all Christian Worldview Partners. Is God close to enacting His end times plan of snatching away His church and allowing the antichrist to deceive the nations and persecute Israel before Christ's return? We don't know God's timing but we'd better be alert and ready.

If Hawai'i is on your bucket list, you need to listen to this episode with Hawaii travel expert Marcie Cheung. Marcie is a family travel blogger and mom of two who's been to Hawaii more than 40 times, staying everywhere from luxury resorts to budget-friendly condos. She helps parents plan unforgettable Hawaii vacations with kids by sharing expert tips, honest reviews, and stress-free itineraries. You can learn more on her website hawaiitravelwithkids.com or follow Marcie on Facebook and Instagram. You can also listen to her podcast, Hawaii Travel Made Easy. Episode Highlights: The most popular tourist islands are: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii (The Big Island) Oahu is best if you can only visit one island and are looking for a mix of experiences and attractions from Pearl Harbor to the Dole Plantation and also city life, nightlife and beaches on the North Shore or Waikiki Maui is also popular for luxury resorts, a quieter vacation, the famous Road to Hana, and also great restaurants and activities Kauai is even more laid back The Big Island is good for those that are looking to be adventurous and take road trips, plus this is where you will find Volcanoes National Park A first time visitor coming from the U.S. should look at least one week and spend it on Oahu because it has such a range of experiences. If you have two weeks, then you can island hop from Oahu to Maui or Kauai. Be active on Oahu and then relax on Maui or Kauai. Keep in mind that when you island hop you still need to fly and deal with all of the airport security, rental car lines, etc. that eats up a lot of a day in travel. The Big Island is really large and you need at least five to seven days. It takes several hours to drive from the beach area to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Expect to spend about $12,000 or more for a family vacation to Hawaii. Airfare from the West Coast is about $500 and closer to $900 from the East Coast. You can use a Southwest Companion Pass or Alaska Companion Pass if you have them. Accommodations keep getting more and more expensive. Midrange hotels are $350-500 and luxury resorts can easily go over $1000 per night. You need to beware about vacation rentals because they are being closely regulated in Honolulu and often they will be cancelled last minute as there are a lot of illegal vacation rentals. If you go with a vacation rental, go with something reputable. Food is also expensive because so much needs to be shipped in on the islands. Plan on spending about $100 a day on food if you are able to mix up going to restaurants and buying groceries or eating at food trucks. Rental car prices are high and you need a rental car for at least a few days on each island. Keep in mind that hotel parking can be $40-60 per night. Activities are also quite pricey, at $300-500 per person. Luaus are at least $200-350 per person. Narrow down your wish list to 2-3 activities and have beach or pool days or exploring on your own for the rest of the time. Minimum stays during winter break can be 7-14 days and this is the most expensive time to visit. When planning road trips or hikes, be sure to map them out to see how far they are and how long it will take to get there. Don't overpack your itinerary. We are excited to head to upstate New York today to speak with Listener Brett about a very special trip! Brett is a huge Disney Parks fan who spent many days in his youth at Walt Disney World, but hasn't been to the parks in years. His wife (who grew up in Orlando) isn't a huge Disney Parks fan, so this trip was a long time coming for Brett. Brett's mom wanted to celebrate her 75th birthday with the family at Walt Disney World, so Brett put a great 3-day extravaganza together, staying at Disney's Coronado Springs, using Lightning Lanes at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios, having meals at Crystal Palace, Maya Grill, and more! There were ups and downs, but it was a trip for the ages! I think you will really enjoy the show! It has a lot of heart! In Episode 63, the focus of discussions in on two main topics: new Prime Minister Mark Carney's early days at the helm of Canada, and tariffs. Frank discusses Carney's decision to travel to Europe before the US, a move that was criticized by Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, and the significant downsizing of the new Liberal cabinet, a move that was sure to hurt some feelings inside the caucus. Frank provides the pros and cons of choosing Carney or Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to represent Canada in negotiations with President Trump, and he debunks the recent claims by former Prime Minister Stephen Harper that Carney didn't deserve credit for Canada's response to the GFC. In the tariff discussion, Frank dismisses Trump's repeated exaggerations about trade deficits equaling some sort of subsidy provided to Canada from the US.  Frank counters that the existing trade deficit is not a subsidy that costs the United States jobs, instead it is a function of our abundance of raw material inputs that the United States imports from Canada. Frank also lays to rest any notion that Canada's dairy sector is not open for business with US suppliers; in fact, the US has yet to use up more than ½ of its dairy quotas with Canada since the 2018 CUSMA agreement set new free trade supply limits. Frank finishes with some ideas for Canada's government to meet its NATO spending commitments, and his belief in the need to keep momentum moving forward with respect to the elimination of intra-provincial trade barriers. This podcast was recorded on March 17, 2025.           Chapter Headings 00:25 - Friendship Day in Colorado03:44 - Carney's Cabinet and First Trip to Europe09:02 - Carney or Poilievre – Who is Best Positioned to Negotiate with Trump?14:28 - Carney on Taxes16:41 - Harper on Carney's Contribution to Canada's GFC Response19:03 - Two East Coast Premiers Retire – is this Coincidence?21:12 - Trump's Exaggerations Used to Justify Tariffs on Canada28:38 - Meeting NATO Defense Spending Target36:24 - Understanding Dairy Quotas – Not Just a Canada Issue48:08 - Is Momentum for Removing Intra-Provincial Trade Barriers Sustainable?50:25 - Caught in the Blue Jays Vortex…Again For relevant disclosures, visit: tdsecurities.com/ca/en/legal#PodcastDisclosure. 115. Our Honeymoons—Then vs. Now! Get Your Honeymoon for Nearly Free Using Points and Miles

For Valentine's Day, we're taking a trip down memory lane! In this episode, we're sharing all the details about our honeymoons—how we booked them before we knew about points and miles, what we spent back then, and what we'd do today now that we're points-savvy. Spoiler alert: our original honeymoons were not nearly as luxurious (or strategic!) as what we could plan today. Pam's “Not-So-Luxurious” Road Trip Honeymoon Pam kicks things off by sharing her 1974 honeymoon—let's just say, points and miles were not a thing, and neither was luxury travel. If she could redo it today, Pam would plan a dreamy trip to Greece, flying Emirates business class, stopping in NYC on the way, and relaxing at stunning hotels in Santorini and Crete—all on points. Alex's Two-Part Honeymoon: Park City & Mexico  Since Alex's husband played college football, their wedding date was dictated by the sports schedule, leaving them with a tight honeymoon window.  Flights and accommodations came from family gifts. Today, she would book an easy, stress-free honeymoon at the Andaz Maui using points and a travel credit for a rental car—keeping the travel cost to just $22! Jess's First Trip to Europe: Budget Paris & London Jess technically did use miles for her honeymoon—but in the least efficient way possible. Jess's economy flights to Europe came from years of earning miles on a single airline card. Looking back, she would book Emirates first class to Italy, stay at the Grand Hotel Victoria in Lake Como, and enjoy luxury Hyatt stays in Florence—all for far less out of pocket than she originally spent! Why We'd Do Things Differently Today Weddings are expensive, but newlyweds can use their wedding expenses to earn credit card welcome offers.
