In early November 2025, Donald Trump publicly warned that the U.S. could cut aid to Nigeria — and even deploy military force — if the Nigerian government failed to stop the killing of Christians. The statement exploded across global news feeds. In this episode we trace the story from the viral headlines to the facts behind the numbers, and ask the tougher questions most coverage skips. We cover: • What Trump actually said and how U.S. lawmakers (e.g., Ted Cruz) and media amplified the story. • Nigeria's official pushback — from President Tinubu's advisers to the Deputy Senate President — and the sovereignty questions it raises. • The on-the-ground reality: the decades-long insurgency of Boko Haram/ISWAP, banditry and farmer–herder violence; who's dying and why simple religious tallies can be misleading. • How conflict, weak governance and criminal economies allow jihadist groups to morph into local governing actors. • The larger geopolitical subtext: could this be a Gaza-deflection narrative, or linked to great-power competition over rare earths and resources? We discuss claims about rare-earth supply chains, foreign contractors, and the strategic value of Nigeria. • What real solutions look like — from strengthening governance and cutting insurgent financing to international cooperation that respects sovereignty and human rights. Lies, lies and more lies. How many lies can our institutions survive? And why are we so bad at defending those institutions? Alex Andreou and Kenny Campbell are joined by a Quiet Riot favourite – Christina Pagel, a professor of operational research at UCL as well as the creator of the smash hit service to humanity that is the Trump Action Tracker. Is Britain vulnerable to the sort of institutional vandalism that Trump had visited on the US? Heck, is Britain even *more* vulnerable than the US? Talking of which, Alex and Kenny also look at the latest madness on Planet Trump and ask just how much crazier this could all get. But given how flaccid the Democratic response has been to Trump in general, I'm just glad that someone is doing something.”  “The vandalism that is occurring to the pillars on which democracy in the US stands will tie up the system for years and is so extensive that it is hard to fight on all the fronts that have been opened.” “Without a basis of evidence, there is no evidence-based policy. TRUMP IS NOT POPULAR: How a Sub 40% Approval Offers Hope for the Dems

Keen On Democracy

“What Trump is doing is not popular”. For the This Old Democracy podcaster and veteran Democratic activist Micah Sifry, that's the good news of Trump's sub-40% approval rate. The bad news, Sifry warns, is that the Dems remained a weak, divided party struggling to counter the MAGA-controlled Republicans. Learning from the campus success of Charlie Kirk, he says, the Democrats need to rediscover what once made them a party of the vibrant counterculture. And that certainly isn't going to happen if grey functionaries like Schumer and Jeffries retain control of an increasingly gerontocratic party. He favors economic populism over identity politics, arguing that progressives made a “gigantic mistake” by favoring the woke politics of the university over working-class concerns. And so the New York based Sifry is cautiously optimistic about Zohran Mamdani whose primary victory, he is convinced, demonstrated that young voters will turn out for dynamic candidates who offer both generational change and credible ways to address economic anxiety. 1. Trump's Weakness Creates Democratic Opportunity Sifry argues that Trump's sub-40% approval rating means 50-60% of Americans are politically available to the opposition. The challenge isn't Trump's popularity (he's not popular) but Democrats' failure to effectively organize and mobilize this majority.2. Democrats Must Use Their Leverage or Lose It Rather than capitulating on government funding, Sifry advocates that Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats should force shutdowns when necessary. Trump backs down when faced with sufficient pushback, as evidenced by his quick reversal on tariffs when markets crashed.3. Generational Change Is Already Underway Mamdani's primary victory over Mario Cuomo signals the end of the Biden-Clyburn-Pelosi era. Young voters (under 40) turned out in unprecedented numbers, suggesting the Democratic Party's old guard has lost touch with a crucial demographic.4. Economic Populism Beats Identity Politics Sifry admits progressives made a “gigantic mistake” by centering identity hierarchies that marginalized working-class concerns, particularly young men. He advocates for Bernie Sanders-style economic populism that focuses on class and corporate power rather than cultural issues.5. Charlie Kirk Built What Progressives Lack Despite disagreeing with Kirk politically, Sifry acknowledges he created a successful youth movement through genuine debate, chapter-based organizing, and relationship building. Progressives have no equivalent infrastructure for engaging and converting opponents through sustained conversation and local organizing.Keen On America is a reader-supported publication. If he'll go after a stalwart Republican like Bolton, why wouldn't he go after certain Republican presidential candidates? PART I The guy who is eternally on the Enemies List, the 45th and 47th president -- aka Vladdy's Boy, aka Don the Con, aka F*ckboi Von Clownface -- is getting an extra special mention this week. Every week, there are a million reasons to nominate Trump the Chump, but this week, Trump revealed his pathetic nature for all of MAGA to bear witness. First, let us tee this up. Virginia Guiffre -- who was a survivor of Epstein, Maxwell, Prince Andrew, and others -- was critical to getting justice for the hundreds of victims. In a clip that went viral on Tuesday, Trump told reporters that he *knew* who Virginia Guiffre was, that she'd worked as a spa attendant at Mar-a-Lago, and that Epstein had "stolen" her from him. What Trump is really saying is that Guiffre was property, he was aware that she was being trafficked, and groomed/raped by sexual predators. He didn't care about Guiffre, only his ego, and that Epstein had gotten one over on him.  Trump is no stranger to who or what Epstein was -- he joked that Epstein "liked girls on the younger side" and that, in Trump's 50th birthday card to Epstein, they shared a "wonderful secret." Distractions are still being volleyed against the wall -- but Trump knows he's hiding who he is and, this time, he can't outrun it.   PART II Emil Bove -- who looks like a part-time crypt-keeper -- was confirmed to the federal bench this week, and it's plain as day that Trump will put Bove onto the Supreme Court bench. The Senate was aware that Bove had lied to them and was involved in several DOJ cover-ups, and yet they ran his nomination up the chain. The fact that one president will have seated four of the Supreme Court justices should raise the question: Is this really what's best for America? Bove is a particular corrupt flavor -- there's a MOB lawyer vibe to this guy. (Shut up, John Thune, no one wants to hear you wimper your phony "hope" for what you *think* he will do.) There's nothing the Senate won't do for Trump now. . I remember the exact moment when I realized I loved my country. The year was 1997. The place was Italy. The affliction was love. The guy had a Che Guevara poster on his wall. I had no idea who that was. He was talking about Israel and how terrible they were. I had no idea what he meant, so I just nodded along. But then he started trash-talking America. So I said, “Well, you sure like our Marlboros, our Levis, and our movies, don't you?” It could have been a joke, but it somehow wasn't. I wasn't mad exactly, I was defensive. And that's how I knew I loved my country, and why I was an unapologetic American.Like Kevin Kline in A Fish Called Wanda:As we gather together on the Fourth of July to celebrate the nation's birthday, I'm struck by just how polarized we still are. It is as bad as it was during the last Civil War. So, how can we feel as if we are still “One nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all?”They don't feel that way on the Left, and they make sure everyone on the Right knows it. They hiss and shriek and moan and scream at Trump and his supporters as though they are living under an oppressive emperor rather than just having suffered a humiliating defeat in November. If only they called him an emperor. They've gone all the way to Hitler. Once you've reached Hitler, there's nowhere left to go.But maybe that's wrong. Perhaps there is still somewhere else to go, taking what is a virtual Civil War and transforming it into a hot war, or at the very least, a violent uprising. If, say, a few blue states decided to secede from the union, over mass deportations or transgender ideology, what then?Zohran Mamdani has promised, if he's elected, to obstruct ICE, even if it means he gets arrested by the feds.Gavin Newsom has already taunted Trump into arresting him for obstructing ICE. Mayor Karen Bass in Los Angeles and all of the wealthy donors who put her in power are making mass deportations the central issue for the Democrats. Is it a cause worth fighting and dying for? They've taken to social media to proclaim “Alligator Alcatraz,” which is designed as a deterrent to discourage gang members, drug smugglers, and other criminals from risking crossing the border illegally, “Alligator Auschwitz.”This illustrates perfectly how it is that the Left has become the crazier side. What Trump says could be seen as potentially removing American citizens, but it's not clear exactly what he means. If you do not exist in reality, what he says can mean whatever you want it to.They react with the same level of panic as they had with the Access Hollywood tape, Russiagate, E. Jean Carroll, Stormy Daniels, “good people on both sides,” “losers and suckers,” Ivanka Trump, Elon is a Nazi, impeachment, impeachment, indictment, indictment. They are the party that cried wolf.Their helplessness in the face of Trump's wins is then taken out on those they know. Most people on the Right have a story like that. I have lost many friends over the past ten years, and much of it even before I ever decided to vote for or support Trump. It's just that I asked too many questions. I didn't follow the rules. It isn't just the betrayal of voting for Trump, although that's a big part of it; it is the mandated directive from inside their Doomsday Cult. They must purge those who do not align with their views, and even those who know or are friends with Trump supporters are also banished, swarmed, and attacked. So, how can we celebrate as one country if so many of those who rule our culture and dominate so much of our society are this intolerant?A New America OnlineI've lived online for 30 years. I helped build what would become a vast utopia of a new America. Our superpower was creating our own reality and then presenting it to the media, who then transformed it into the status quo.Much of the early internet took shape in the George W. Bush era. Not many people realized the power of social media back then, but Barack Obama did. It's not likely Bush would have even been elected if social media had been around. The Republicans were slow to catch on. This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit sashastone.substack.com/subscribe

Then, behind the paywall, how can future leaders attempt to undo the damage Trump has done? What will the country look like after 1300ish more days of this? Are economic forecasters underrating the risk of recession to hedge their bets? Would further inroads toward dictatorship deepen the economic crisis as well as the crisis of democracy and human rights? In a recent Oval Office meeting, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni sat across from Donald Trump as part of a European Union effort to navigate the ongoing trade turbulence. The meeting was cordial enough. Meloni emphasized transatlantic unity and expressed hope for deeper economic collaboration. Trump, however, was unmoved. He praised Meloni personally, but made his stance clear: the U.S. is not in a rush to finalize trade deals. According to him, tariffs are “making the United States rich,” and other countries want deals more than he does. This exchange happened during the 90-day pause in Trump's Liberation Day tariffs — a moment intended, at least in theory, to give global leaders time to negotiate. But what the meeting really signaled is that Trump views this pause as leverage, not compromise. Yes, he did lower EU import tariffs from 20% to 10%, but that move was largely a reaction to bond market jitters. When it comes to negotiating with Europe, he's staying firm.Meloni's presence is notable. She's a controversial figure in Europe — once derided by the American press as a far-right nationalist and compared to Mussolini. But in this moment, she's being positioned as the EU's Trump whisperer. She attended Trump's inauguration. He's reportedly fond of her. He even accepted an invitation to visit Rome. But none of that moved the needle in this meeting. What Trump wants is access to European markets. But in European politics, protectionism isn't just a policy — it's a survival tactic. Leaders there know that anything perceived as selling out local interests could cost them their jobs. Italy, for example, has a trade surplus with the U.S., not because of anything shady, but because Americans genuinely love Italian exports: high-end fashion, food, luxury goods. We buy a lot from them. They don't buy much from us. That's not an imbalance that tariffs alone can fix.So the real question is: what happens next? Trump has all but said he's happy to wait everyone out. That leaves European economies in a holding pattern. It leaves small and medium U.S. businesses — especially those tangled up in international supply chains — in limbo. And it leaves Meloni with the unenviable job of being the friendly face of a negotiation that isn't really moving.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:03:13 - Interview with Gabe Fleisher00:23:00 - Update00:23:36 - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's Visit00:27:44 - Birthright Citizenship Arguments00:30:05 - FSU Shooting00:31:47 - Interview with Gabe Fleisher, con't00:59:13 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. It's Friday, April 11th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 60 Christians slain in Nigerian genocide On April 2nd and 3rd, Fulani Muslim terrorists killed more than 60 Christians in Plateau State, Nigeria in what the governor called a “genocide,” reports The Christian Post. Maren Aradong, a community leader, said the attacks were carried out against seven Christian communities in Bokkos County, including Hurti village, where more than 40 Christians were slain. He told Morning Star News, “More than 1,000 Christians were displaced [in Hurti] during the attacks, and 383 houses were destroyed by these bandits.” Pastor Ayuba Matawal, who ministers in the Bokkos area, added, “Many of these attacks result in mass burials. The sight of numerous corpses and the frequent need to conduct mass burials is something no minister wishes to experience, yet it has become our reality.” Matthew 25:41 describes the final punishment of these evil murderers. Jesus will say to those on His left, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” According to Open Doors, Nigeria is the seventh most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Supreme Court rules Trump must bring El Salvadoran back to U.S. On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a judge's order requiring the Trump administration to facilitate the return to the United States of a Salvadoran man whom the government has acknowledged was deported in error to El Salvador, reports NewsNation. On April 4th, U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, an Obama appointee, issued an order that the White House “facilitate and effectuate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, in response to a lawsuit filed by the man's family challenging the legality of his deportation. What Trump thought during Butler assassination attempt On July 13, 2024, we all know that candidate Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania at a campaign rally. We know the shooter was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks who fired eight rounds from an AR-15 style rifle from the rooftop of a nearby building. If Trump had not turned at the moment he did to reference a power point slide on the screen, he would have been killed instantly. Instead, in God's providence, one of the bullets only nicked his upper right ear. Salena Zito, a Washington Examiner reporter, wrote a forthcoming book, entitled Butler: The Untold Story of the Near Assassination of Donald Trump and the Fight for America's Heartland. She said, “I was just feet away the day history was nearly changed. My book dives into what happened, my conversations with Trump and how deeply it changed him.” Appearing on The Glenn Beck Program, Zito shared some information that was previously unknown. ZITO: “Before he said, ‘Fight, fight, fight,' I could see him. He says, ‘USA!' twice. He's still on the ground. And then I see him turn and get up and say, ‘Fight, fight, fight.'” BECK: “Wow!” ZITO: “And so we talked about that, and I said, ‘Why?' And he said, ‘Well, Salena, at that moment, I wasn't Donald Trump, even though I wasn't president yet again, I had once been President. “I had an obligation to show that the country is strong, that we will not be defeated, and that we are resolute. I did not want to be the symbol of America being weak." BECK: “Geez! That is in you. That is either in you or not in you. And it's in very few people!” White House cancels Social Security numbers of illegals The Trump administration is using a new tool to motivate illegals to “self-deport.” Their Social Security numbers have been effectively cancelled, reports The New York Times. The goal is to cut those people off from using crucial financial services like bank accounts and credit cards, along with their access to government benefits. In essence, the Trump administration is repurposing Social Security's “death master file.” For years, Social Security tracked dead people. Now, they want to include the names of living people whom the government believes should be treated as if they are dead. Being blacklisted in this manner would make it difficult to make money, and thus prompt the illegals to self deport. The initial names are limited to people the administration says are illegals who are convicted criminals and “suspected terrorists.” But officials said the effort could broaden to include other illegals as well. New York City tourist helicopter crashes into Hudson River A tourist helicopter, carrying family members from Spain, plunged into the Hudson River in New York City at 3:17pm Thursday, killing six, including three children, reports ABC News. WITNESS 1: “It sounded like a sonic boom on my right. So, I look up and literally, I see a helicopter splitting in two, with the rotor flying off in the sky. It was going so fast it just went straight into the water.” Agustin Escobar, an executive, his wife, Merce, and their children -- aged 4, 5, and 11 years old -- were killed in the crash along with the pilot, aged 36. The helicopter crashed just over 15 minutes after it departed from the Wall Street Heliport. The helicopter reached the George Washington Bridge before turning south and crashing. The 21-year-old helicopter, which simply broke apart over the Hudson, was on its sixth flight carrying tourists for the day. Please pray that God would comfort the grieving families of the pilot and the Spanish family on holiday. Texas whistleblower testifies about horrors of ‘transitioning' children And finally, Dr. Eithan Haim, who exposed pro-transgender malpractice at Texas Children's Hospital, testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday on what exactly he witnessed.  He shared harrowing detail about the mutilation of these gender-confused children, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Listen. HAIM: “I understand and have seen the effects of what these blockers do, what these hormones do, and what these surgeries do. They are destroying the lives of these children. “They are putting them down a road where they become a chronic medical patient that they can never come back from, especially the surgical complications. I see these things all the time. So, could I call myself a doctor if I didn't speak up against it?” Proverbs 21:3 states, "To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” In 2023, Manhattan Institute journalist Christopher Rufo interviewed a then-anonymous former Texas Children's Hospital employee who said the hospital's pro-transgender activist, Dr. Richard Roberts, did not hesitate to prescribe cross-sex hormones and mastectomies to gender-confused children whose medical records indicated “serious mental health issues” including autism. That whistleblower, later revealed to be  Dr. Eithan Haim, who just testified Wednesday, was indicted by the Biden Department of Justice, ostensibly for sharing confidential patient records in violation of HIPPA or the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. However, Dr. Haim had taken great pains to preserve patients' anonymity. Under Biden, Dr. Haim faced up to 10 years in prison! Thankfully, the case was dismissed soon after President Donald Trump took office in January 2025. Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, April 11th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Today's Headlines: Donald Trump gave a speech at the Department of Justice, railing against the media, vowing "accountability" for his enemies, and bragging about firing James Comey and pardoning January 6 defendants. Attorney General Pam Bondi warns that anyone messing with Tesla better "watch out" because the DOJ is coming for them. Trump also invoked the rarely used Alien Enemies Act to deport five Venezuelan nationals he claimed were gang members, but a federal judge temporarily blocked their removal after the administration had already deported 250 other supposed gang members before the ruling took effect. Meanwhile, a judge put a hold on part of Trump's executive order targeting law firm Perkins Coie for its role in 2016 opposition research and Citibank revealed it was asked to freeze funds for nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity due to alleged criminal concerns tied to EPA grants. On the foreign policy beat, Trump ordered airstrikes against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen while increasing pressure on Iran over its nuclear program. And finally, Trump is set to chat with Vladimir Putin this week as Ukraine ceasefire talks continue. On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, the hate America Attorney General's in blue states and the hate America press want you to believe that birthright citizenship is in the Constitution. It's not in the Constitution. It's not in any of the legislative history for the 14th Amendment It's not in the 1866 Civil Rights Act. The idea that if you're born in the U.S., you're automatically a citizen is a sham. President Trump's executive order should be effective enough to end birthright citizenship but there will be an activist effort against this saying that the Supreme Court set a precedent. Also, President Trump is remaking the federal bureaucracy right before our eyes. What Trump is doing, across the board, is courageous and more conservative than President H.W. Bush or President W. Bush. The 3 most conservative presidents of the last 100 years are Calvin Coolidge, Ronald Reagan, and Trump. Later, the Bernie Sanders Marxist crap has gotten us to where we are today. Look at your paycheck stub - is a billionaire taking your money? No, it's the government. No company creates inflation – it's the government.  But Sanders' answer is more government, just get the billionaires. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
