first half of today's show discusses the ominous escalation in the Ukraine war with US/UK approval for Ukraine to use US/UK long range missiles to target deep into Russia. Putin's ominous warning of ‘war with NATO'. What happened to Zelensky's ‘Victory Plan'? How Ukraine has been sabotaging efforts by BRICS to arrange negotiations. What's happening on the Kursk and Donbass fronts in Ukraine. Political instability growing within NATO ranks (Germany, France, USA). Is Biden or the neocons now running the US govt? Why 32,000 Boeing workers rejected the pattern contract proposal. My review of the recent Trump-Harris presidential debate. Why neither candidate addressed the #1 issue of the economy according to polls. What was covered and not addressed in the debate. (For detailed print analysis read my article ‘The 2nd First Presidential Debate' on my blog, http://jackrasmus.com (or on Counterpunch, LA Progressive, Z, or World Financial Review public blogs).
In an election cycle where debates have been more impactful than ever, what influence has the first, and perhaps only, meeting between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump had on voters? To unpack the debate and its implications for each campaign, we're joined by Ashley Parker, Senior National Political Correspondent for The Washington Post, and David Graham, staff writer at The Atlantic. Together, we explore how debate formats constrain real messaging, which candidates gained or lost ground, and, of course, where the campaigns go from here. Jason and Alex explain the implications for global order of the first, and possibly onl,y 2024 Presidential Candidates Debate btw Harris and Trump. It was like a legendary heavyweight boxing match between a woman auditioning to be the mega-orderer-in-chief and the most well established disorderer the world has ever scene. And it ended in a more dramatic fashion than even an epic Howard Cosell play-by-play: Down goes Frazier, Down goes Frazier. Trump acknowledged that he cannot go against Putin's wishes, that he does not want the Ukrainians to win the war; and then when taunted by Kamala about the small ‘crowd-size' at his rallies, Trump simply imploded: spewing grievance-filled conspiratorial lies about Haitian Migrants eating dogs in Springfield, Ohio, that Democrats order doctors to kill babies after birth, and that the Biden-Harris administration gives transgender transition surgeries to illegal aliens. We at the Disorder Pod don't want to count chickens before they are hatched, but were both favourably surprised by Kamala's performance. As we pointed out in Ep 65, she does portray herself in a rigid, prosecutorial vibe and has been weak at explaining the specifics of her programmes. She might play identity cards a bit much for some middle-aged white males. And yet!, Sept 10, 2024 may go down in history as the first time that an opposing politician beat Donald J. Trump at the game of television. Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Jeb Bush failed at it in the 2016 Republican Primary. Hillary and Biden may have won debates against him but they never beat him at the game of television. Whereas, Harris made Trump look like a buffoon and she successfully baited and taunted him on live TV before tens of millions. She made the contrast extremely clear: that she wishes to Order the American economy and the world, while Trump wishes to Disorder it. Kamala Harris pressed a forceful case against Donald Trump on Tuesday in their first and perhaps only debate before the presidential election, repeatedly goading him in an event that showcased their starkly different visions for the country on abortion, immigration, and American democracy. The debate had very few interruptions, as the debate stayed relatively civil, all things considered. So today on AirTalk, we recap last night's debate in Philadelphia with Aaron Kall, director of debate at the University of Michigan, Sara Sadhwani, assistant professor of political science at Pomona College, and Pete Peterson, dean of the School of Public Policy and senior fellow at The Davenport Institute at Pepperdine University.
We stayed up past Ricky's bedtime to discuss our immediate reactions to and takeaways from the debate between former President Trump and Vice-President Harris.

On Thursday June 27th, 2024, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump took the stage in the first of two planned televised debates. The debate, which took place in Atlanta and was hosted by CNN, was unique in a few ways. The Commission on Presidential Debates, which has organized debates for nearly 40 years, was excluded after both Trump and Biden expressed their dissatisfaction over the organization's handling of previous debates. CNN had its own debate format that both candidates agreed to. There was no audience, no opening remarks, microphones were cut off after each candidate's allotted time was used, no pre-written notes, and no props or contact with campaign staff during the debate. This also marked the first time two U.S. Presidents have debated each other for the chance to reclaim the White House. What ultimately transpired in this debate was 90 minutes of lies, insults, incoherent answers and minimal substance. President Biden appeared to be losing his voice, which his campaign attributed to “battling a cold”. He struggled with completing his thoughts and communicating his positions. The fallout left the Democratic Party in turmoil, with some calling on Biden to step down. Former President Trump repeatedly misrepresented much of his record and told numerous falsehoods on many topics including the economy, immigration and January 6th.We asked our undecided voters about their thoughts on the debate, their impressions of Biden and Trump, what they would've liked to hear discussed, and if this debate impacted their choice. The election is now 110 days away. Last week, President Joe Biden and former President Trump met in Atlanta for a presidential debate. After the event, most observers focused heavily on Biden's seemingly poor performance, while paying Trump's many untruths and exaggerations far less attention. And now some Biden supporters are hoping he'll quit the race and allow another candidate to replace him. The presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden did not meet media expectations. This is somewhat surprising given Joe Biden's decline, but many pundits thought he would do better. Democrats are freaking out now that the American people as a whole got to see Biden's mental constraints on the national stage. Donald Trump outperformed Biden, but what does this mean? Was this a ploy by Democrats who want to replace Biden at the convention? What about Trump's answers on abortion. Should they concern anti-abortion voters?
