This week on News Now, reporter Taylor Inman breaks down six of the Flathead Valley's biggest and most talked-about stories — from federal policy changes at Glacier National Park to heated local land-use decisions and community highlights. We begin with Glacier National Park removing interpretive displays following a federal directive, raising questions about how public lands tell history and whose voices are represented. From there, we dive into a controversial decision approving a Lakeside marina dock extension, despite widespread public opposition, and examine why county officials moved forward anyway. The episode also covers a Montana Supreme Court ruling that clears the way for the Happy's Inn RV park, along with a proposed lease at Polson Bay Golf Course that could reshape public access and future development. We then shift gears to community news, including the Whitefish Winter Carnival parade, featuring a surprise appearance by a NASA astronaut, before closing with standout performances at the Class AA State Speech and Debate Tournament.Read these full stories on dailyinterlake.com:Glacier National Park podcast, displays axed under Trump directive | Hungry Horse News Word for word: Flathead wins second, Glacier third at state speech championship | Daily Inter Lake Flathead County OKs resort's 159-foot marina dock in Lakeside | Daily Inter Lake State Supreme Court rules in favor of county, developer | Western News A big thank you to our headline sponsor for the News Now podcast, Loren's Auto Repair! Completing our last of three conversations recorded at the recent 50th and final Winter Carnival of Magic in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, we sat down with “Thrillusionist” David DaVinci. He closed the last night gala show with his breathtaking illusion and bird act. David traveled with the Ringling Bros. Circus and participated in the Zing Zang Zoom show plus he has worked cruise ships and casinos across the globe. His schedule is much reduced today as he concentrates on his passions of training birds, skydiving, and enjoying the great outdoors of Idaho. View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize In our chat today, David talks about working with big animals from tigers to elephants while employed by the Ringling Bros. Circus. He also tells us about “wing suits” he often wears while skydiving. I guess he just likes to get as close to birds as possible without actually being one! But life on the road as an illusionist is hard, and David tells us why as he uses his current situation to explain. “RICHARD CARLSON: CLASSIC CINEMA STAR OF THE MONTH” (081) - 3/31/2025 Tall, dark-haired, and handsome, RICHARD CARLSON was always a welcomed addition to any cast. From the beginning, when he was playing preppy college students opposite LANA TURNER, to his reign in the 1950s as the King of Sci-Fi thrillers, Carlson brought believability and authority to each role but also a sense of introspective thoughtfulness. You looked into his deep blue eyes and chiseled face and believed him. Whatever he was selling, we were buying. And while he never became an A-list leading man, he enjoyed a long and steady career and enhanced many a mediocre film with his special appeal.
