It does not go well because it comes out that Dean wants a woman who will cook for him while watching the Donna Reed show. At Luke's, Lorelai suggests that he paint the diner. He doesn't like painting. She does and offers to help, so he takes her up on the offer because HE LOVESSSSS HER. The next day, Rory is asked by Babette to house sit for the night because they just got a new kitten. She agrees and goes to ask Dean to come over but they argue about Donna Reed so that's a no go on the coming over. Rory has a baby chick that she brings home and asks Lorelai to keep an eye on it while she cat sits. She says ok and then promptly goes to Luke's to start planning the painting. The sparks between these two. When she gets back home, the chick is gone! She calls Luke and is like come over, a chick is loose. He assumes that means something else, not an actual chick being loose. He runs over and ends up finding the chick. Rory decides to make up with Dean by having a Donna Reed night, complete with her making him steak and taters. They have a great night together with Rory playing housekeeper for her boy. Luke finds the chick and goes to take some trash out at the same time as Dean taking trash out. It's a whole thing. Lorelai helps Luke get the paint and they set a date to paint. Suddenly, Christopher rolls up on his hog. Oh, who's Christopher? It's Rory's dad and he's going to be staying for a couple days much to Lorelai's chagrin. That night, he tells Lorelai he thinks he's really close to having his business stuff really take off and he wants to be more a part of Rory's life. Emily catches wind that Christopher is in town, so she wants to have him come over for Friday dinner along with Christopher's parents. To say that this dinner doesn't go well would be an understatement. Christopher's dad calls Lorelai out in front of everyone and blames her for derailing Christopher's life. Richard kicks them out. Feeling like her dad finally stood up for her, she goes to thank him. Richard explains he didn't do it for her, it was for the Gilmore name. And they get in a huge argument. She goes out on her bedroom balcony and so does Christopher. Naturally, they roll around on the cement ground. While all that's happening, Luke is waiting for her at the diner to paint. He's sad. I'm sad. We're all sad. The next day, she wakes up and remembers she promised Luke. She goes down to apologize and he's clearly hurt. When she gets back to her house, Christopher says he wants to marry her. They argue and she says no. So on his hog he goes. Rory finds out that she said no to his proposal and she gets kinda sad. She just wants her parents to be married. She goes to paint Luke's all by herself. They're back to being good. Six-Seven. 6-7, Six/Seven. As real estate professionals we have to juggle (or balance) Needs-Wants for buyers and seller clients all the time. So what is a NEED and what is a WANT? That depends on each client (single or multiple). What they need maybe lots of counter space in their kitchen. What they want is granite. Or, maybe quartz. Possbily marble. No one asks for laminate or what was commonly called by the brand name Formica (first introduced as an electrical insulation product in 1913). We wrap up our series of classic holiday films with It's a Wonderful Life - the timeless tale from Frank Capra that proves no man is a failure who has friends. We'll hear three of its stars - Jimmy Stewart, Sheldon Leonard, and Thomas Mitchell - in Suspense thrillers, an old time radio recreation of the movie, and a bonus spoof courtesy of The Jack Benny Program. Thomas Mitchell is a tycoon with more than business on his mind in "Case History on Edgar Lowndes" (originally aired on CBS on June 8, 1944). Sheldon Leonard is a professional killer in "Feast of the Furies" (originally aired on CBS on July 11, 1946). We welcome actress Erin Murphy, who spent her first eight years of life charming TV watchers as young Tabitha Stephens on Bewitched. Erin takes us behind the scenes at one of television's most beloved classics, sharing vivid memories from a childhood spent witnessing the creation of Hollywood magic.Erin and her fraternal twin sister Diane were originally cast together to share the role of Tabitha, following child labor laws which severely limit the number of hours a toddler can spend working. But, as Erin reveals with a laugh, in the 1960s, rules were “suggestions.” Erin was the twin who took to the craft of acting and she was often brought right back to the set while producers pretended to swap her out. Soon, Erin became the show's singular Tabitha.Erin recalls the delight of working with fantastical props, whimsical effects, and a cast she adored. A natural performer, she memorized not only her own lines but everyone else's, and she truly cherishes her time on the set. Erin and Diane were treated with kindness and respect and were even given Donna Reed's former dressing room where the amenities of home gave them space for play and nap time. In 1946, director Frank Capra brought to the big screen the tale of George Bailey of Bedford Falls, in an inversion of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Instead of teaching a miserly villain the error of his ways by showing him his life's low points, Capra revealed that a good man's good deeds prove one man's life has worth beyond measure. Starring Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, and Henry Travers as the angel Clarence Oddbody, this film initially received mixed reviews and was unsuccessful at the box office, despite the fact that it was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Without significant interest, the film's copyright in the U.S. expired in 1974 and it entered the public domain, allowing it to be broadcast without licensing or royalty fees. Broadcast at almost no cost by local television stations, the film grew to become an annual Christmas classic. Turning 80 next year, it is now regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made, but will inconsistent streaming options and copyright issues make us wish this movie had never been filmed?
