Today's episode talks about the Great Equalizer - The Farm System. Small market teams like the Milwaukee Brewers rely heavily on prospects to be competetive. Last year saw Keston Hiura give the big league club a boost en route to a second consecutive playoff appearance. The year before saw Freddy Paralta, Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes and more break through. The year before that was Josh Hader. Back in 2007 the Brewers elevated from mediocrity with the help of talented, cost controllable home-grown prospects such as Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, JJ Hardy, Rickie Weeks, Corey Hart, Yovani Gallardo, the list goes on. Who will rise up from the minors and impact the big league club this year? Who will become a valuable trade chip? Who, if anyone, is untouchable? Who is the next Brewers homegrown star? At 65-67 and 8 games back with 30 games to play, the Giants probably just need to play the youngsters. Also, Buster Posey had hip surgery today and will miss the rest of the season and be out 6-8 months, hopefully ready in time for the 2019 season with more power to contribute from his legs. We also talk about the possibility of the ballpark being adjusted to lure future power hitter free agents, Derek Holland's racially insensitive appearance on national TV, a setback for Jeff Samardzija, the fight between the Dodgers and Giants, the excessive proclivity for the Giants' bullpen to fail and much, much more on episode 151 of the TortureCast! Happy July everyone! Tonight, we reflect back on Scott and Jake's two years as a podcast, one year with Bucky's 5th Quarter: where we came from, what we're doing right now, and what's ahead! Happy Father's Day! We have another jam-packed show. At 8:30 - BadgerNation's Ben Worgull joins the show to talk about all the Wisconsin Badgers recruiting news. Who committed to the Badgers after their huge weekend camp? We'll let you know! We'll also talk some Northwoods League baseball with the Madison Mallards' Tyler Isham, Assistant General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Advertising. We'll talk about the great promotions they run each year for the fans, how this year's Mallards team has some Madison roots to it, and whether he thinks there's a fanbase for a Big Ten baseball team for the Wisconsin Badgers (though we know the uphill climb it would take for that to happen). Plus, Milwaukee Brewers, Major League Baseball, and more!
