We revisit the series of events that included a never-before-seen error by Russell Martin, a baby (?) getting hit by beer (?), and Elvis Andrus being cursed beyond a shadow of a doubt by the Baseball Gods, with three straight dropped balls to set the stage for the God King himself. The Chicago White Sox (81-80) beat the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night by a score of 8-3. The victory secured at least a .500 record for the White Sox this season. Sox starter, Lucas Giolito, finished the season strong. He had a quality outing, going 7 innings and only giving up 2 runs. White Sox offense provided more than enough. Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez, and Jose Abreu each had a double in the game. For Abreu, it was his 40th double of the season. In the fourth inning, Elvis Andrus hit a three run homerun to put things out of reach. Wednesday is the season finale but is it also the last time Jose Abreu will be in a White Sox uniform? Abreu's contract is up and his future with the team is uncertain. Abreu has spent all nine of his MLB seasons on the South Side. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Hey Sox fans! The Chicago White Sox (79-80) just completed their final road series of the season as they took two of three from the San Diego Padres. Davis Martin and Lance Lynn had stellar outings for the Sox and Elvis Andrus provided the offense. The big news revolving around the Chicago White Sox is the possible retirement announcement by Tony La Russa. Bob Nightengale, from USA Today, said in a recent article that Tony La Russa will indeed announce his retirement and the Chicago White Sox will be looking for their fourth manager in eight seasons. The list of potential names is long: Bruce Bochy, Joe Espada, Carlos Beltran, and even Miguel Cairo to name a few. Others, like Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune, have hinted at AJ Pierzynski or Ozzie Guillen being possible options. We are hoping the White Sox organization performs a serious managerial search this time around as they find a new voice and leader for, what should be, a very talented group of players in 2023. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/good-guys-talk-back/message

White Sox got some stellar pitching in San Diego from Davis Martin and Lance Lynn. Liam Hendriks recorded his 36th save of the season in Sunday's win. Elvis Andrus provided most of the offense in the series and has continued to impress while the rest of the White Sox have seemingly given up. The Cleveland Guardians played a complete game and beat the Minnesota Twins today by a score of 11-4. Their magic number shrunk to 12, and if they can sweep the Chicago White Sox, no matter how unlikely, it would be down to six. We get into the game, which saw just about every star for the Guardians. We also dig into why it is that Myles Straw is playing better and why I think it should be sustainable.  Next is the focus on the Chicago White Sox series and why I think it favors the Guardians. We get into why the Oakland Athletics really did the Guardians dirty, and how if they had not cut Elvis Andrus the White Sox might already be out of the playoff picture. I think the Guardians should win two out of three, but only need one win to be in a good position for the rest of the season. We end with some talk about schedules and why it is even if the Guardians get swept why they are still in a good position to win this division. We also talk about a player who is having quite the bounce-back year due to a change in launch angle. This particular player might be an ideal candidate to platoon with Josh Naylor due to their ability to destroy lefties, play a solid first base, and hit for power. They are also likely to fit the Guardians salary structure.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Nugenix Now get a complimentary bottle of Nugenix Total T when you text MLB to 231-231. The Cleveland Guardians drop a rough one against the Chicago White Sox. After the Elvis Andrus chatter a day ago this one stings a little more as Cleveland failed in most aspects of the game. In terms of the positive Myles Straw had three hits and is hitting over .210 now. Will Benson and Amed Rosario have both struggled over the last month but both had multi-hit games and extra base hits. Plus in terms of players who have struggled Eli Morgan had one of his best appearances in a long time. So this was basically a game where everyone who has been struggling performed and the rest not so much. We talk about who has performed well since the Seattle series. Almost everyone has a wRC+ over 100 over the last week. While a small sample size it is important due to the fact there are a lot of games against the Royals left. We talk about schedules and why they strongly favor the Guardians. The Twins and White Sox will be in a dog-fight while the Guardians face the Royals. On the downside that is way too eerily similar to a great young team in 2004 down the stretch that saw things go wrong. I have much more confidence in this squad though. We end talking about Anthony Gose having Tommy John surgery, and why it means he might not pitch for the Guardians again and why it assuredly means he will not be rostered this offseason. We try to predict the playoff roster. Most of the pieces are pretty easy to figure out, but it is the fringes of the roster that I am curious to hear people's thoughts on.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The Cleveland Guardians win again paired with a Chicago White Sox loss means the Guardians currently have a four-game lead in the division which is actually more like 4.5 game lead. I explain why this is the case. We dig into the Guardians roster and help explain why it is that I feel like this team for once is in such a good spot that they might not need to look for multiple upgrades this offseason. It feels like a majority of this lineup has earned a chance to continue their run into next year. I also came up with a fun option to think about when watching and following up on a game. I am curious about what others think. We focus on the win. The Cleveland Guardians sweep the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. After the first game both Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani were held in check and Cleveland came back late to win this one. The three stars were Jose Ramirez, Andres Gimenez, and Oscar Gonzalez. We also dig into the news that Zach Plesac was let go by his agency. It is a little weird as while he has had a multitude of minor issues, nothing on the larger scale that typically merits an agency cutting a player.  We end by reading the quote from Elvis Andrus and explain why that was such a dumb move and a dumb quote by a player whose team is behind in the standings. We explain why the White Sox are set up to gain ground over the next week. While also getting into the promotion of Hunter Gaddis for the Guardians with Xzavion Curry likely to get promoted this weekend for the doubleheader. We look at the upcoming schedule and how things could be very clear in this division in a week.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
