Max Woll, a Grayslake baseball standout who's made quite the journey from youth Coyotes baseball and Grayslake Central's historic 2023 state championship run, to junior college, the Northwoods League, and now a full scholarship to Union Commonwealth University in Kentucky. Brian has been watching the new season of "Unsolved Mysteries" on Netflix and the episode he & his wife watched seems to be truly unsolved! Plus, the Loggers are into the Northwoods League championship game after an 8-1 win over St. Cloud last night. Congrats to this guy & his son who found a $25,000 "treasure", and check out this dude's street-legal bumper car! Played a round of "Who'd You Rather?" this morning…five times richer? five times smarter? or five times more attractive? Did you hear about the Team GB marathon runner who finished the race with a broken leg? Ouch! ICYMI, there was an apparent online hack that stole everyone's Social Security numbers. Talked about a judge that got a bit overzealous with the punishment when a teenager on a field trip fell asleep in his court, and we also talked about a few of the new food items available at NFL stadiums this season. During today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about self-driving cars that won't stop honking at each other, a guy who hit a lion with his truck in a national park, a guy who drove his semi through a strip club, a guy who was wrongly imprisoned for almost fifty years, a woman who was mauled to death by a pack of great danes, a guy who shot his father in the face after an argument about stinky feet, a dude who's trying to sue Disney after his wife died, and an 8 year-old who rushed to save her dad after his store was getting robbed. He was a pitcher on his high school baseball team, including being All-State AND having thrown a no-hitter at a tournament where he made the All-Tournament squad. He went on to college baseball at both Bradley University and the University of Minnesota-Duluth.  He also played in the Northwoods League for the Alexandria Blue Anchors.  Almost immediately after his baseball career he delved into the world of skiing, with notable runs such as Jackson Hole and Big Sky, among others. He even combined skiing with faith, as he talks about here, plus he also served as an adaptive ski instructor.

Jon and Aaron are back with some little tidbits about Packers camp thus far.  Also, the Brewers beat bad teams and hang with good teams.  One young pitcher goes down to be replaced by another.  Then the guys talk about Northwoods League and the PWHL draft.

Jamal Allen wasted no time in becoming a professional baseball umpire.  Six months after graduating from Longwood, he headed to the Wendelstedt Umpire School and completed a season in the Northwoods League, a collegiate wooden bat circuit.  Last season, Jamal started his professional career in the Florida Complex Rooke League and is expected to umpire in Class A baseball in either the California League, Carolina League, or Florida State League for the 2024 season.  Special commentary from Kyle Nichol, Longwood '14 and  former minor league umpire.
