How do we decentre conceptual hierarchies in our emotional and sexual lives? How can we practice new forms of relationships and modes of connection? Could we relate to our body as a sexual becoming before it is a sexual object? A short preview of our first Patreon exclusive episode. Just as there's nowhere quite like Vegas, there's no film experience quite like Showgirls. We go through the gates of hell into the world of Paul Verhoeven's excess. A sharp critique of capitalism, a devastating refutation of the American Dream? A Chaplinesque queer parody? A twisted version of the Wizard of Oz? Or simply the most ridiculous erotic drama to ever grace the screen? Both a popular drinking game and the focus of much intellectual discussion, Showgirls occupies its own unique section of the "so bad it's good" film category. In this episode of The Sexual Wellness Sessions hosted by Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist Kate Moyle, we're talking about the topic of consent. Justin Hancock @bishsexed and I talk about why more conversations about consent are needed, why we think that they aren't happening and how we can all better understand consent, what it means, and what it looks like. Consent is a powerful word, but not everyone understands exactly what it means. It is an essential component of not just our sex lives and relationships but all aspects of our lives. Despite this we have historically seen it left out of mainstream education and conversation and we see millions of examples worldwide about how consent has not been freely given and has been violated. Discussions around consent both in and out of our relationships need to be normalised and demystified in order that we can make the changes to our culture around consent, which is what Justin and I aim to tackle in our conversation. Justin Hancock is the author of Can We Talk About Consent? and has been a relationships and sex educator for over 20 years. In that time he has worked with thousands of young people in schools, youth clubs, universities, and advice services. Justin created and still works at bishuk.com which is one of the leading relationships and sex education websites for young people over 14, this attracts thousands of people per day. As one young person put it “It's perfect for young people without being too cringe“. Justin also provides training courses and RSE resources for teachers. He also offers relationships and sex education for an over 18 audience too. This week, Matt and Adam are joined by friends, Justin Hancock and Rebecca Mitts. We are doing something we haven't done in a while, a podcast episode swap! Justin and Rebecca are the hosts of a podcast called Palsys With Palsies where they share profound ideas about important topics in an approachable and accessible way. Today, they share with us Episode 11 of their podcast called, "The Gaze & the Dance". "In this episode Justin talks about his experience with "the gaze," known in the disability community as being stared at by and interacting able bodied people who don't know how to inhabit the space with a person with a disability. He shares one the best experiences and some of his lousiest experiences with "the gaze." There is a social dance that happens whenever you meet someone different from yourself; so if you step on toes, don't keep stepping on their toes. We're back for another special case study edition of the Finish More Music Podcast, where this week I'm joined by a rising star of the FMM community - Justin Hancock. I brought Justin on the show because he exemplifies just how much you can achieve in such a short space of time, even in the face of a hectic schedule outside of the studio. In short, the secret lies in having the discipline to focus on your creative process, and shelving the distractions and working methods that serve to do anything BUT what's most important - finishing music. Not only does Justin have an illuminating and honest insight into the challenges music producers face, he also carries a wonderfully infectious and positive energy that I know will make you want to get straight into the studio right after you finish listening. So if you want to learn how you can get fast results in the studio, adjust your life to suit what lights you up the most, and have an amazing time doing it, check out the podcast now.

The Julian Way is an organization focused education and empowerment with, for, and by, persons of diverse embodiments. They seek to help places of faith, and other cultural institutions, achieve greater universal accessibility, by fostering environments where persons of all embodiments can work for leadership and equity throughout the whole of human life together. Quotable Moment: "What The Julian Way is trying to do on a daily basis is invite curiosity around the disability experience- and what I mean by curiosity is the ability to admit we don't know everything, to move forward and honestly ask questions and engage- and do so with a spirit of charity and without fear."To learn more or donate, go to https://neighboringmovement.org/the-julian-way

It's an incredible ministry with the goal of developing an empowered community of discipleship in which disability is not viewed as a hindrance or something to be overcome. We brought Justin on today because we think the work of The Julian Way has a powerful connection to asset-based community development, and we're just so excited to share this episode with you all!As has been the case with some of our other episodes, this episode mentions spiritual and religious topics. Because The Julian Way is centered around concepts of intentional Christian community, Christian spirituality is referenced in this conversation. As always, we want to reiterate that we do not present these episodes to promote any one spirituality or religion, Christianity included, but instead because we think they are helpful and encouraging for all neighbors, regardless of their relationships to spirituality or religion. In the episode, Justin begins by introducing The Julian Way before then sharing some of his own story. We then move into exploring the connection with asset-based community development and talking more about what Lisa and Justin's work looks like today. It's so fantastic! You will definitely want to learn more about The Julian Way, and you can do so by visiting this website: http://thejulianway.org. As Justin mentions in the episode, this website is still in progress, so you will also want to check back in soon in order to learn even more!As is mentioned in the episode, Justin also wrote a book that you should all read! It's called The Julian Way: A Theology of Fullness for All of God's People, and you can buy it on Amazon by clicking here!

Welcome to our GenderGP Podcast, where we will be discussing some of the issues affecting the trans and non-binary community in the world today, together with my co-host Marianne Oakes, a trans woman herself, and our head of therapy. Dr. Helen Webberley: Today I am really excited to welcome MJ Barker. Thank you very much for joining Marianne and myself. And as always, I’m going to hand over to you to introduce yourself and tell us a bit about you and your work and your interest in this area. MJ Barker: Absolutely. So yeah. MJ Barker, Meg-John Barker for my professional writing work, and my background is I've been an academic in psychology and sociology. I've also been a therapist for many years and an activist on LGBT matters for a long time. But I've given most of that up recently to become a full-time writer. So the main thing that I do is to write books, self-help books and gender relationships and sex, and also graphic guides comic books about introducing various ideas. So I've written a Queer: A Graphic History and the Follow Up on Gender which is out in November actually. And I've also written the book Life Isn't Binary, so it's taking non-binary thinking about gender and applying it to all kinds of other things, with Alex Iantaffi, my co-author for that. I also to have a podcast on sex and gender and relationships with Justin Hancock, the sex educator. It's theMeg-John and Justin podcast. So we've got plenty of stuff on trans there. And I guess in this area I mean doing a lot of kind of non-binary activism is I can definitely speak to non-binary issues. And then Alex and I in our book How toUnderstand Your Gender, we talk a lot, and then Life Isn't Binary, we talk a lot about breaking down binaries, including kind of a man-woman binary obviously, and gay-straight binary, but also maybe the trans-cis binary,

Find out who is still unsigned, how much are they making and some Giants salary talk on this episode of the Chip and Cern Show. We had a look around the Modern Couples exhibition at the Barbican https://www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2018/event/modern-couples-art-intimacy-and-the-avant-garde which is all about the relationship between art, avant garde and relationship models. We went round it to chat about the relationships and considered just how radical they were and what we can learn about this for ourselves. Here’s the blurb from the exhibition: “Explore modern art and modern love; Modern Couples reveals how relationships can become a playground for creativity. Featuring the biggest names in Modern Art, Modern Couples explores creative relationships, across painting, sculpture, photography, design and literature. Meet the artist couples that forged new ways of making art and of living and loving. The exhibition illuminates these creative and personal relationships, from the obsessional and fleeting to the life-long.” It’s £16 and it’s on till 27th January 2019 and if you’re interested in relationship diversity and/or avant garde art, this is for you. We did this because we are also running a workshop on 6th December 2018 at the Barbican. Buy tickets here https://www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2018/event/modern-couples-make-your-own-relationship-rules 'Modern Couples: Make Your Own Relationship Rules' Modern Couples demonstrated how artists at the beginning of the 20th century were taking the radical approach to their work and applying (at least some of) this radicalism to their personal relationships. Justin Hancock and Meg-John Barker are here to help you explore the different kinds of relationship models seen in the show and how we might navigate them today. From monogamy, to ethical non-monogamy, to relationship anarchy, and our relationship with ourselves, this friendly and practical workshop will give you helpful tools to help you with whatever kind of relationship style might work for you. The workshop is open to anyone, regardless of previous knowledge and experience. We hope it will be lively, interactive, fun and thought-provoking.

Hola DigHeads! This week on the Digression Sessions we have Justin Hancock, another very funny gentleman from that Color Me Funny crew. Justin has been doing standup in and around Baltimore and Bel Air, Maryland for the last few years, as well as acting in those hilarious CMF shorts (I'm talking about video not clothing). On this episode we discuss Justin's brief stint as an EMT, the reality of the ol' “weather makes my knee hurt tale,” exactly how Justin was made fun of in school, and so much more. Plus Justin and Josh square off to see who's ankles are the most swollen! We had another funny and interesting conversation with Justin and we are getting our awkward silence ration down to a solid .5% or so! Keep those comments on the website coming (I'm talking to you, everyone who isn't Mike Turpin) and please leave us a review on iTunes. Also, did you know we are on Stitcher now?!
