conversations with folks in the golf world in and around the DMV beltwaygolfer.com
The Beltway Golfer podcast has been a delightful discovery for me. As someone who has been following the host, Alex, on Instagram for several years prior to the podcast, I already had high expectations. And I must say, this podcast has not disappointed. Each episode has been thoroughly enjoyable and I eagerly anticipate more. What sets this podcast apart for me is the diverse range of topics covered. It's not solely focused on golf courses or competitive golf, but rather it delves into unique stories, people, and places where golf intersects with other aspects of life. This makes it relatable for local golfers and intriguing for those outside the DMV area. And let's not forget to mention the catchy theme music that never fails to put a smile on my face.
One of the best aspects of The Beltway Golfer podcast is the quality of interviews conducted by Alex. The guests he brings on are fascinating individuals with captivating stories to share. Whether it's discussing future plans for well-known courses like East Potomac Park, Langston, or Rock Creek, or exploring the major players involved in these projects - each conversation is informative and highly interesting for anyone who golfs in and around DC. As someone who has played at these courses before, it's incredibly exciting to hear about their potential transformation and the impact it could have on the local golf community.
It's hard to find any major flaws in this podcast as it delivers exactly what it promises - engaging content about golf in the DMV area. However, if I had to pinpoint a potential weakness, it would be that some listeners might prefer a more focused approach centered specifically on golf courses or competitive golf. But personally, I appreciate the broad range of topics covered as it adds depth and variety to each episode.
In conclusion, The Beltway Golfer podcast is a fantastic listen for anyone interested in golfing in and around DC. Not only does it provide valuable insights and stories that local golfers can relate to and learn from, but it also has the potential to captivate golf enthusiasts from outside the DMV area. With its quality interviews, diverse range of topics, and entertaining theme music, this podcast is a must-listen for any golf lover. I eagerly look forward to more episodes from The Beltway Golfer.

For over 20 years, Jimmy Garvin ran programs at Langston Golf Course that included creating a learning center in the clubhouse where he used the game of golf as a carrot to get kids to focus on their education as well as exposing new destinations to a traveling team of All-Stars that competed against their peers abroad. Jimmy Garvin served as President of Golf Course Specialists, the longtime lease-holder of the three DC courses. He and his Legacy Foundation had a profound impact on many kids in this region who were able to see the game of golf as a vehicle to something greater. His programs came to a halt in 2012 after a well-publicized case involving a DC Councilmember who misused funds intended for these programs. Jimmy was forced to restart and eventually became part of the ownership group at Marlton Golf Course in PG County and today manages Rock Creek Park Golf Course. jimmygarvingolf.org Sponsored by Union Green - Uniting people on & off the Green through public golf - uniongreen.com Listen or watch below! https://youtu.be/-o4n5yJuyR4
