As course creators, entrepreneurs experts, we are all creating content information processes, methodologies, systems that are unique to our brand. They are the things that make our author unique. And so it goes without saying that many course creators come across moments of fear, concern, and worry about my intellectual property. What if someone steals my stuff? What if someone copies my work? What if somebody illegally downloads shares and resells my content? Now, of course, we cannot completely and utterly ever predict nor control what other people may or may not do, or nor can we control other people's intents and activities. However, as course creators, entrepreneurs, business owners, there are some things we can do to try and limit the impacts that might be felt if people do copy our work or IP. Now I've got an amazing guest here today: Andrea Smith, who is a copyright professional has been working in the space of copywriting, intellectual property and content for creatives for over 20 years, and also is trained in intellectual property. My first teaching placement as a wise 18 year old with blond hair, was in an all male prison. I learned that education comes in many forms. It is not necessarily about sitting down in a class and writing down and answering tests. I learned that education was about changing people's attitudes, changing people's lives. And for me, when I was teaching in the prison where a core curriculum is more secondary to realising that we can be more, do more, have more in the world. I was so amazed by how much somebody's life can be changed by simply allowing them to understand themselves. And that was it, I was hooked! I was hooked on showing people themselves, as to the skills that are held within them. And so I started my education business at 19 years old. Are you curious about the rest of Sarah’s story? But when our envy or frustration begins to consume us to the point that we don’t notice the weeds in our own yard are beginning to choke us, we know its time to have a check break. Pour yourself a cuppa and sit back for this short 25min podcast on ‘Coping with The Competition in Online Teaching’ on The Course Creators Podcast.
In this episode of The Course Creators Podcast, Sarah will share with you some super simple strategies for easily becoming a content creation machine. I'm not against aid advertising - it has a very important part to play in any business owners success strategy, but I do not believe that aid advertising is NECESSARY. I also believe that it makes for an unsustainable business model because the second you stop paying for ads, you stop getting business. A far better, albeit longer return on your investment is to send time creating and sharing content with the world. I believe that true success comes from how you position yourself in the marketplace. The more content you have out there, the more chance your audience have of finding you when they are searching and browsing in your topic online. The more content you create, the more you PROVE and demonstrate your expertise to the world. If people KNOW that you 'know your stuff' (because they've seen it for themselves), they won't need to be served an advert to be persuaded that you do. Your marketing goes from paid to free - as soon as you start creating great content, you open u the opportunity for virality, for shares and likes - all of which is FREE advertising. Yes it requires some effort, but you'll be suprised at how easy it can be to make just one piece of content absolutely work it's butt off for you. In this podcast I will give you some practical tips for easily producing contentm making every piece of content give you the most return, and to increase your online course sales - without spending any money on ads.
