Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take cont…
Listeners of Let's Talk Fast that love the show mention: adam.
The Let's Talk Fast podcast hosted by Adam Martin is an essential listen for anyone interested in fasting, weight loss, and overall health. This podcast has been a game-changer for me and has provided me with valuable information and practical tips that have helped me on my journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is Adam's honesty and straightforward approach. He cuts through all the noise and provides clear, evidence-based information that makes complete sense. His no-nonsense attitude is refreshing and makes it easy to trust his advice. He tackles common myths and misconceptions about breakfast being the most important meal of the day and provides a compelling argument for intermittent fasting. It was through listening to this podcast that I became convinced to give fasting a try, and I'm so glad I did.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the variety of topics covered. Adam covers everything from nutrition to exercise to mindset, providing a well-rounded approach to health and weight loss. The interviews with guests are also informative and offer different perspectives on fasting and other related topics.
While there aren't many negative aspects of this podcast, one thing I would like to see more of is listener interaction. While Adam does answer questions from listeners occasionally, I think it would be beneficial to have more opportunities for listeners to engage with him directly or have their questions addressed on the show.
In conclusion, The Let's Talk Fast podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in fasting, weight loss, and overall health. Adam provides valuable information, practical advice, and motivation in a down-to-earth manner that is relatable and easy to understand. Whether you're new to fasting or have been practicing it for years, this podcast will provide you with valuable insights that can help you reach your health goals.
I have always enjoyed my chats with Social Scientist, Nigel Dalton and there is no better person to discuss the end of the world. Once again, we had a thought provoking show that will have you question where you are at in the world, what you can do to enact change in your and others lives around you and what you can expect over the coming decade. I hope you enjoy this chat as much as I did and I would love to hear your thoughts.
It has been a while since I last recorded a podcast, but when Sam Forget calls me up and says we are long overdue for a catch up, I thought I'd hit record and have you come along for the chat. I hope you enjoy!
I'll keep it short... This podcast is my wife and I sitting down and having an open and honest conversation about what life looks like moving forward from here. We get really raw and honest and open up about our fears, our lives and what we hope to achieve and bring into our lives for our amazing girls.I hope you have a listen, as I think this could be the best and most honest podcast I've ever recorded. Thank you for being with me over these past 5 years and whether I bring the podcast back, start something new or never come back at all, please know that your continued support and weekly attention has meant the world to me. I hope you enjoy this FINAL podcast and as always, please hit that like button and don't forget to hit the SUBSCRIBE BUTTON to make sure that should I come back in the future, you will be there and ready to hear what's next.
I haven't had time to record the final podcast before I take a break and so I've gone back through the archive and picked out what is one of the most downloaded episodes. In this episode I detail my nightly routine and share with you what has worked for me and many of my clients to sleep better, more efficiently and enable me to get up each day and ALWAYS feel energetic, enthusiastic and empowered to have the best day ever! As babies, our parents (many of you who are now parents yourselves will also relate to this) were constantly trying to get us into a routine of a night time to get us into a relaxed state and to help us sleep at our best. At some point along the way we lost this idea and as adults we are ATROCIOUS at having a nightly routine to settle us and get us ready to go to sleep. This 30 minute routine that I do EVERY NIGHT has changed my life and I know it will help to see you INSTANTLY have a better nights sleep and over the next few weeks, if you can stick with it, you will soon sleep better than you ever have in your life and feel at your best each and every day that you alarm goes off. I hope you find this podcast helpful and you enjoy the best nights sleep you are about to have!

I've been lucky to run into a number of great dads since moving to Perth and Scott is no exception. It's been great to talk life, work and much more with him over the past couple of years and it was GREAT to have Scott jump onto the podcast, hit record and have an honest chat about the difficulties and positives of working in the health and medical space. It's a difficult job working on the front line of medicine and it has certainly changed over the years and Scott shares much of what he has seen in that time as well as how he's been able to juggle that with living a happy and healthy life himself. I LOVE the show "The Block", because I love reality TV, but I also love watching great design along with how to incorporate that into a functioning house.Georgina Wilson is an architect who HATES "The Block", however she is passionate about helping people design great spaces that offer both beauty and practicality and is driven to see more people engage with architects to help design their next renovation or full build. In this weeks podcast, I had the opportunity to ask questions that Georgina was able to answer that will help you create a great space of your own, know where to start and where it's best to place your energy to ensure you save money and end up with a result that you love now AND in the future. I heard Brendan Mouatt speak at a recent conference I attended and from the moment I heard him speak, I had to get him on the podcast. His talk detailed how common approaches to pain, chronic pain in particular, were failing patients and how many of those patients felt lost and experienced years of unnecessary pain.In this weeks podcast, I had the opportunity to sit down with Brendan 1 on 1 and to dive deeper into the idea around treating pain through a Biopsychosocial model and how doing so could and often did help people remove long held beliefs around their pain and ability and see them move forwards pain free. Chris Maher is a former Navy Seal turned mental health expert who is addressing the myriad of “fight or flight” responses preventing people from reaching their true potential and it was a true pleasure to have him on my podcast this week. If you have unresolved stress, feel as though your current emotional state is holding you back and you wish to hear some amazing tips from someone who has been there and worked through it, then this is a conversation not to miss. Dr Rosey Lathouras is a Doctor of Chinese medicine and we had a fascinating discussion on all thing health and how many of our current western philosophies and practices are failing us and as research continues into eastern medicine, we discover just how powerful they can be to help prevent and cure many of our illnesses.I'll be the first to admit that I was once a closed minded individual and health practitioner and in the past I would have snubbed my nose at many of these practices, however as I've aged, I have become much more open minded and it has lead me to some amazing conversations and health professionals that are doing some great work.I thank Rosey for sharing with me her time and expertise and I do hope you enjoy and find value with this conversation just as much as I did. Outside of family, it's rare these days to find people that you can call family and who would be there for you at the drop of a hat. I've been lucky to find 2 of these people in my life and to be lucky enough to travel to Melbourne to celebrate the 40th birthday of Glenn and to sit down with my other best mate Matt, and have the 3 of us "chew the fat" for a couple of hours. I don't know what value this conversation will bring to the world, but it was great to be able to just openly chat with my 2 best mates and talk about topics that we deem important at the time. I'm big on mental health these days and in particular men's mental health as to often men don't talk to their mates about what's going on in their life. If this chat helps just one male, but also females, be more open about their feelings and what's going on in their life and it brings more energy and peace to your mind and life, then job done. For everyone else, I hope you enjoy the chat that we 3 best mates shared and you feel like you are part of our group and a fly in the room for our chat. I want for nothing else in this world but to provide a place where my girls feel safe, heard and appreciated and to give them everything I can to help them become the best versions of whoever they are to be in life. Lael, among MANY other achievements, is the co-author of the book, Raising Resilient and Compassionate Children and in this weeks podcast we talk about many topics that will help you become the best version of yourselves to allow you to provide an environment that looks to nurture, encourage and promote resilience and compassionate children. After both Max and I released a book about intermittent fasting back in 2017 and I moved to live in France in that same year, it was inevitable that we would run into each other. I had max on my podcast WAY back in 2017 and while I've watched from a far the huge changes Max has gone through and the incredible work he has produced in that time, it's been a long time since we have both sat down and had a chat and so it was great to finally do that and to be able to record that chat and bring it to you as an episode on this new version of my podcast. Max is ever evolving with not only the content he produces for his large social media platform, but also how he goes about living his own life and how he works to live a happy and balanced life and he shares how developing a growth mindset and breaking free from a fixed mindset has played a huge role in that development. We talk about how you to can change your mindset and how being open to change, open to feedback and allowing yourself to learn from your mistakes can set you free and have you live your best and most balanced life. As a father of 2 cheeky but fun girls, I constantly worry if what I'm doing and providing to my girls in the form of parenting, is helping them be the best that they can be. Should I allow them on their iPads and if so, how much time is OK, is it OK to swear in front of them, when is the best time to teach them new skills and is the drill sergeant or honey giver the best approach and whats the best way to help their language development. This week I had the pleasure of speaking to Rita Shamoun who's a speech pathologist and has worked with 100's of kids in her private practice and throughout her career and she had some amazing insights on all things speech and behaviour. If you have kids or you're looking to have kids, this episode is not to be missed as I'm POSITIVE you'll find it of value. I have both, never understood the foot or those who choose a profession that is all about the foot. With that said, I understand the importance the feet play in our body and how we move about and it's why I reached out to Dr Steven Singh to come on the show for a chat all about feet. The feet, just like the tires of a car, are the part of your body that are always in contact with the ground and are what help you, jump, walk, run, crawl, climb and basically do everything you take for granted on a daily basis. There are 26 bones, 33 joints, 29 muscles and a host of tendons, ligaments and nerves that make up the foot and it was great to have Steven on the show to not only explain how they all work to allow us to do what we do, but to also dispel some myths and misconceptions around feet and footwear, as well as talking about gadgets that might one day propel us further or help us run faster. While I don't particularly like feet, I LOVED this chat and would like to thank Steven for coming on and sharing his love and vast knowledge on the topic. Harriet Ducker or more commonly known on Instagram and other socials as Healthful Harri is a health and fitness coach with a smile, personality and vibe about life that is calming and amazing to be around. It's very clear to anyone looking in, that I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to fashion and making myself look stylish. I have a wardrobe full of black, white and grey T-shirts and similar coloured shorts and that's the extent of my mixing and matching and I don't venture too far from it. With that said, I think when you look great and you have clothes that fit well and go with your mood and personality, then you tend to have a more positive vibe and flow about you and this infiltrates your life and the lives of those around you. This week I had the pleasure of speaking to Adele Leahy, a personal wardrobe stylist and image coach who loves helping men and women level up, dress up and move up in their everyday life. This conversation was SOOO much more than I could have anticipated and we had a BLAST talking all things fashion, style and the best way to be the best version of you. I've been on a number fat loss journey's over my life and I've also helped 1000's of people do the same and for the most part I've been successful in not only helping those clients who come to me for help, but also myself. In 2022 though, I felt burnt out both mentally and physically and decided to completely stop focusing on the food I was eating and instead drive my attention towards the other pillars of health I talk about, being sleep, exercise and performance and time doing the things I love the most with the people I love the most. Over a 12 month period I had ballooned from a very lean 68kg to a whopping 85.8kg. This was the heaviest I'd ever been in my life and while I finally felt mentally well and also felt physically rejuvenated, I was unfit, out of breath and feeling like a fat slob. Now promoting a life of balance, I didn't want to go on a hard core cut that would leave me miserable and fatigued all over again and so I embarked on a new "BALANCE JOURNEY" and decided to document every step of the way on my Instagram stories. It's now 5 months later, I'm 10kg lighter and I've have never felt better both mentally or physically and on this weeks podcast, I detail every step I took and every up and down I went through, so you to can achieve any goal you aspire to reach for and do it in a balanced and sustainable way just like I did. There is a tonne of gold in this podcast and I do hope you enjoy the listen! This weeks podcast is a topic that people usually shy away from and don't want to talk about as it brings up emotions of fear, hurt, loss and sorrow. However, as I continue to expand the breadth of this podcast and open the discussions up to ALL kinds of people and topics, I embraced this weeks guest and dove into the business and world that is funerals and being a funeral celebrant. We didn't stop there though and spoke openly and wide on all manner of topics and Luke O'Connell who is a Funeral Celebrant shared his story on how he fell into this profession after many years of being a musician and playing mostly for weddings. I truly enjoyed this podcast and my chat with Luke and not only did I find out a LOT more information about the business side of a funeral, but also how much of a difference a quality celebrant can make to the experience of what is usually a very sad time for people. Your first inclination might be to swipe away from this podcast, however I truly hope you give it a listen as there were some wonderful talking points and moments that I know will help you out when it comes time for you to plan a funeral for a loved one in your life. On this weeks podcast I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Martyn Odell, a professional chef who's quirky but simple method of delivery has captured the attention of MILLIONS around the world and amassed him an audience of over 1 MILLION followers. Martyn, or as he's known on social media... Lagom Chef, is a self titled food waste disruptor with a passion to deliver great food in a fun, energetic and creative way that helps people use up those foods in their house that would otherwise be thrown away and wasted. We had a blast chatting for over an hour on all sorts of topics from finding love in creating amazing meals for your family and friends, how to use those "waste" products in the fridge and pantry to world economics and how we can make buying food a more sustainable and affordable endeavour. I really enjoyed my time with Martyn and I'm POSITIVE you will as well and so do give this episode a listen and I would LOVE to hear your feedback. I've always thought that in order to sing like the great singers over the generations that you need a combination of an insane work ethic combined with amazing genetics, just like those who can run sub 10 second 100m or pain incredible works of art. However, after going through many classical avenues of singing lessons, Adam Mishan felt like the restrictive views a lot of teachers put on their students, held them back from achieving big breakthroughs and progress with their singing ability. Adam, a great singer in his own right, sought out to show that ANYONE can sing. Whether you're an aspiring rock star, want to sing for your wife at your wedding or already sing and wish to get better... Adam has the tools and YEARS of practice and proof that ANYONE truly can sing when given the right tools, encouragement and direction. I had a BLAST in this episode and I even put my hand at trying to sing a little better and so I hope you enjoy this episode and I don't make your ears bleed with my appalling attempt at singing happy birthday. I know I'm not alone when I share the fact that I get a high level of anxiety when getting on a plane. I'm a control freak at heart and HATE being the passenger in any vehicle and this feeling's at it's most when traveling by air and in a tin tube held up by physics that they actually can't quite explain but know it works because planes stay up in the air and don't fall out of the sky. This week I had the opportunity to speak to Captain Cameron Tribe as he shared his tales of travel and what it's like to be a commercial airline pilot. Cameron also went into detail and answered all of those questions we anxiety ridden, control freaks want to know about flying and whether it truly is one of the safest ways to get around. I'd like to thank Cameron for coming on the show and for sharing his incredible knowledge of flight and commercial airlines and I hope that this podcast helps you become a more centred and less stressed traveler. In a world where inflation is rising and no one knows how high interest rates will go, it can be a scary time to buy a house and take on a large mortgage. But, that's exactly what Amy and I have done and while we are terrified about what is to come, we are equally excited about planting our feet into our dream home and what that home will represent to our kids over the years to come. All of this wouldn't have been achievable without my best mate and mortgage broker by my side, walking me through the process and getting this CRAZY big loan across the line. This week, I speak with Matt from Modern Financial Finance Brokers and we talk in detail about where he believes the world is heading with regards to economics, interest rates and the housing market in general and we discuss whether now is a good time to buy or a bad time to buy. Either way, if you're in the market, are looking to get into the market or you're generally curious about money, how it works and the entire finance world, then definitely give this weeks podcast a listen as I am CERTAIN you will find some gold nuggets amongst our ramblings. I can remember a time when going online to find love was considered weird and if you did meet someone online, you would both make up stories on how you met so that you didn't have to say you met online. Jump to 2023, and it's almost the ONLY way people find love and it's weird to hear that people found each other in the "real world" However, is this a good thing? On this weeks podcast, I chat with Kristen Lilly, someone who tried the online dating world and hated it and thought she can't be the only one and so went about creating a way to meet people in the real world and to have real connections. Enter... SPIN THE BOTTLE, a fun, safe and stress free alternative to online dating - for those who remember dating before it went digital. I had a great time chatting with Kristen and whether you are in the dating world or not, I think this chat can be great fun to listen to and to reminisce over the "good old days" of dating and how it has evolved over the years. I've never shied away from the fact that I LOVE trashy reality TV. Among my favourites are Vanderpump Rules, Selling Sunset and of Course BELOW DECK! Well, this week I got to sit down, in person with one of my favourite "characters" on Below Deck and talk all things Super Yachts and how this world really works and the crazy people and stories that come from it. Natalya Scudder is a Perth local when she isn't travelling the world and working on 100m+ MEGA yachts and so it was great to catch her in a rare moment of down time and talk about the industry she has been part of for almost a decade. It was a real treat to have this time with Natalya and it was great to have someone open the doors on what it's like to live in a billionaires world and what working on a super yacht is really like. Having watched my Nan suffer through the debilitating effects that both Dementia and Parkinson's have on the human body and mind, working with an older population and doing what I can to help prevent those issues arising or making those later years easier to navigate have always been a high priority of mine. As a result of working in the health science field for over 20 years, I'm lucky to have worked with a number of Professors and academics in this area and it was great to be introduced to Dr Elissa Burton through a mutual colleague. Dr Burton has a list of achievements that would span 10 pages and she is well recognised for the amazing work she has done with an older population and helping them to live long and live well. Dr Burton is currently a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Investigator Grant holder (2020-2024) conducting a project "Balance on the Brain" which is aimed at improving physical health and decreasing falls for people living with mild cognitive impairment. We talked at length of the benefits to working on your strength and balance in the earlier years of your life and this podcast goes into detail about how you can do just that and and we give both the theory and practical advice on how to stay balanced in ALL sense of the term. Zach Lazar is a strength coach and someone I've not only had on the podcast before, but someone I've spent YEARS working alongside and always enjoyed the time we had together. Zach doesn't mix words and tells you how it is and that goes for whether you're a client of his, a work colleague or a stranger walking down the street. Zach has spent years working on his craft as a strength coach and while his approach isn't for everyone, one thing is for sure... HE GETS RESULTS! Since leaving Melbourne, I haven't had much of an opportunity to touch base with Zach and so it was great to sit down, relax and have a conversation with a great friend about all things work, life, career and personal development. In 2008 I took my first trip to Thailand with 2 of my best mates from Uni and on that trip I was introduced to Jacob who was the cousin of one of these mates. Nearly 15 years later, Jacob has found great success in the fitness and health space, however it hasn't been without it's trials and tribulations and in this podcast we talk all things success, failure, balance and everything in between. It was great to catch up with Jacob again and to discuss everything that's going on in his life and to talk with another health professional for whom I admire for the hard yards he has put in to reinvent himself and find longevity in his career. There is plenty to learn from this podcast and I have no doubt that many of these lessons can be transferred into your own life to help you continue to find what helps you live your best and most balanced life and to help you pivot should your life not be heading in the direction you wanted it to go. My wife is a star Project Mine Geologist and we moved to Perth in the middle of the pandemic to allow Amy to get back into the mining profession and to see her chase her dreams and make her career a priority on our household. This allowed me to take a step back from my career and the grind of running a business and in this weeks podcast we discuss what it is to be a FIFO worker and family, how that plays out in the family dynamic and what struggles and successes we've had since moving across the country and leaving our life, friends and family back in Melbourne. Nigel Dalton is a social scientist to the core and someone who I've had the pleasure of working with, spending time with and learning from for over a decade. The vast majority of the clients I work with are females who range in age from 35-65 and I'm always doing my best to stay up to date with the latest evidence on exercise, nutrition and ways to live a happy, healthy and balanced life. A topic I'm not well versed on though and something that ALL of my females clients will go through and something that will have varying degrees of effects on their ability to exercise and live that balanced life is Menopause. So, this week I reached out to Tania Dalton who is passionate about helping pre and post menopausal women to thrive without taking extreme measures. I learnt a TONNE in this podcast and I know I'll be a better coach to my females clients because of it, but there were also a lot of teaching moments that I'm positive many women will gain VAST benefits from. Do not miss this weeks podcast and so be sure you sit down, go for a walk or put it on in your car and enjoy the conversation Tania and I have and I KNOW that it will bring your life health, happiness and balance. Happiness can be a very hard thing to describe and so when you ask someone... "What does happiness mean to you" It can be hard for them to put into words. However, for most people, you can ask them if they think their life is THRIVING" or not and they can give an answer to you straight away. This week I had the opportunity to speak with positive psychotherapist, Marie McLeod who recently launched her new film. How To Thrive - A Practical Guide To happiness With her use of Scientifically backed questions and methods, Marie and the team have come up with a wonderful film that documents the journey of 7 ordinary Australians from anxiety and depression to living a thriving life that has their BEACON shine bright. Sam is no stranger to this podcast and every time I've had him on, I've enjoyed the conversation on whatever topic it is that we were talking about. That topic has always been fitness related though and as we began this talk together, both Sam and I made a pact with each other to do our best to talk about ANYTHING but fitness, fat loss and health. The conversation we had varied from travel, tattoos, aussie slang terms and words as well as a WHOLE lot more. That said, we couldn't help ourselves and our chat did veer in and out of fitness content from time to time, but what you will get most from this podcast is 2 mates having a fun conversation and our hope is that you feel like you're in the room with us and part of that conversation. I've enjoyed diving into the world of Tik Tok and mindlessly scrolling through the mass of entertainment there is to consume and what I've found most entertaining is the debate that goes on around whether the earth is a globe or whether in fact its FLAT! This weeks guest is a high school science teach based out of California who started doing live videos on Tik Tok where he would discuss what he thought were tried and true facts. What he found though was a world of people who disputed them and wanted to have debates around topics like, evolution, the earth being flat, gravity and many more topics you might have otherwise thought are not up for debate. I LOVE discourse, I love discussion and I've always loved listening to people from both sides of a debate play their hand. I really enjoyed talking with Eric and in this weeks podcast, I found myself going back into a science class with a teacher who is clearly passionate about what he does and for his love of all things science. Over the past 2 years, I have found and fallen in love with the sport of Body Surfing and most of my spare time is now spent scrolling through post after post of body surfing content and this is how I came across Nick's page. I thought this world of Body Surfing was small, but in searching it more and more and now having a chat with Nick, it appears that it isn't as small as I once thought it was and it excites me to do more and meet more people in this body surfing family of ours. It was great to talk with Nick all about body surfing, his venture into running his first business where he has created a market leading cat harness as well as our common love for health and fitness. In October of 2021, I had just completed yet another cut where I found myself at a lean 68kg and while I felt I looked great, I felt HORRIBLE! I have spent the past 2 decades flowing in and out of cutting weight, maintaining weight and gaining weight and I was tired of always thinking about the foods I was eating and how much I was eating and all of this had taken its toll. So, I QUIT! I made a conscious effort that I was not going to think about the foods I ate or how much I ate and that I would just enjoy food in every way that I could for the next 12 months. In this episode, I talk in detail about why I did this, how it made me feel and how it affected my life, sleep, recovery and training and go on to talk about what I intend to do next? If you're tired of always being on the diet merry-go-round and wish to get off, then this is the episode for you. We ALL know just how important sleep is, however, many of us (myself included) continue to make it a 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th priority in our lives and it's almost always the thing we sacrifice first when trying to create more time in our lives. In this week's podcast I speak to the lovely Carla from Ora Sleep Coaching and she kindly shares with me the secret to getting a great nights sleep, how to ensure you don't lay awake at night as well as discussing WHY sleep is so important to us, our health and wellbeing. Carla is a self confessed sleep nerd who's personal journey of fixing her own sleep has lead her to helping others with similar struggles. I've wanted to run a retreat for a very long time now and after ticking that goal off last week, I wanted to talk about what I thought went well, what didn't go well and then everything in between. I'm also eager to announce whether I'll be running anymore in the future and what ideas I have in mind to make those future experiences, something that the participants of those events will never forget! Don't have enough time to cook... Don't know how to cook... While these are common responses, having worked with 100's of clients over the years, these are not the issues that most people face in reality. In this weeks podcast, I aim to answer the question and highlight the most common struggles that people face and how you can tackle them to ensure eating well is not an issue for you anymore I hope you enjoy the podcast and as always, please hit that SUBSCRIBE BUTTON to make sure you never miss any future episode and please consider leaving a 5 STAR RATING and POSITIVE REVIEW as it would meant the world to me.
